Sailor Moon Fan Fiction ❯ A Ghost of a Memory ❯ One-Shot
A Ghost of a memory
By: Panchan
If you're not familiar with Country Music, the song is Friends In Low Places by Garth Brooks. Sailor Moon belongs to other people, not me. Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. We all should know this by now.

It was my wedding day, and I was happy. Chad looked amazing in his tux and all of my friends had attended. I never would have gone for a large wedding, had his parents not insisted, but this was turning out better than I had expected. It was then, while I reflected on the ceremony, that I noticed the figure walking into the reception room.
[ Blame it all on my root
I showed up in boots
And ruined your black tie affair]
His eyes bored down on me, and I vaguely wondered if this were real. He looked just as I had last seen him, his angelic blonde hair cropped to his chin and catching the light with all of the beauty of the sun, his blue eyes captivating mine. I hated it.
[The last one to know
the last one to show
I was the last one
You thought you'd see there]
I, apparently, was the only one who could see him so I tried to ignore the specter. It was hard, however. A glass of champagne materialized in his hand and he raised it to me before gulping it back. His voice sent chills up me spine.
Chad leaned over to me and whispered in my ear, "Is something wrong, Rei?"
"No. No, I'm fine."
[And I saw the surprise
And the fear in his eyes
When I took his glass of champagne
And I toasted you
Said, //honey, we may be through
But you'll never hear me complain// ]
He was walking towards me now; I could see it out of the corner of my eye. My friends were beginning to give me strange looks and asking if I was all right. 'No, of course I'm not all right! The ghost of my ex-lover just showed up at my wedding, damnit!'
['Cause I've got friends in low places
Where the whiskey drowns
And the beer chases my blues away
And I'll be okay]
Flames coiled around his translucent form, his eyes no longer laughing at me, as they usually did. Apparently he could hear my thoughts. Good.
[I'm not big on social graces
Think I'll slip on down to the oasis
Oh, I've got friends in low places.]
'Leave me be. It's over; you can't haunt me any longer.' I thought acidly at the ghost. A part of me felt sad as the last of the love that had lasted a thousand years left my system, but I knew that I would have break the dying emotion off. Besides, I looked over with a loving eye at the man beside me, I had Chad now. He looked back at me and smiled. //are you happy?// Jadeite was standing in front of me. I looked up, discreetly, and replied, 'very.'
[Well I guess I was wrong
I just don't belong
But then, I've been there before
Everything's all right
I'll just say goodnight
And I'll show myself to the door]
He smiled apologetically at me, //we will meet again one day… as friends?//
'Always' he turned and walked away then, leaving me forever. I could finally put him to sleep.
[Hey, I didn't mean
To cause a big scene]
When he reached the doorway, the other three generals appeared beside him, waved to me then they disappeared for good.
[Just give me an hour and then
Well, I'll be as high
As that ivory tower
That you're livin' in
Cause I've got friends in low places
Where the whiskey drowns
And the beer chases my blues away
And I'll be okay
I'm not big on social graces
Think I'll slip on down to the oasis
Oh, I've got friends in low place]

Yeah. That was kinda corney, but I thought it was a good idea when I first had the notion of writing it. Anyway, please Review!
