~~Revision Completed: July 13, 2002~~

Hello minna. As I am sure most of you noticed, this fic was completely
purged from all sites it was on... And now this is here. Why? Because
this fic is undergoing complete revision.

Why am I doing this now, you ask? Well, because as you can see, it has
expanded from 11 parts to 30... And I would have had to delete the
entire fic anyway and start from scratch. So I decided that there was
no time like the present to rework the fic to my liking...

Why am I doing this at all? Well, because while I admit the fic was
good, it wasn't great. Or, it wasn't up to what I wanted this fic to
be... It was rushed, the character development was bad, and I focused
more on the story than the characters, along with some other things...
I didn't hate it, but I didn't gush over it.

And so I decided to fix my problems with it.

Here is the ever present name list:

Usagi- Selenity
Minako- Aphrodite
Rei- Ares
Makoto- Hera
Ami- Minerva
Mamoru- Endymion
Kunzite- same
Jadeite- same
Nephrite- same
Zoicite- same
Motoki- Andrew
Reika- Rita
Beryl- Hades
Queen Serenity- Selene
King Hyperion is a created character... he ain't based off of anyone.

Once again, I know some of those aren't correct according to Naoko's
version, but I changed some of those because the names worked a little
better for my version. I really hope you like this revision...

Sailor Moon isn't mine... I would love to tell you who the concept of
siren's belongs to, but considering most of this began by oral
tradition quite a few centuries ago, I seriously doubt that's
plausible! But then again, I don't think I can be sued from beyond the
grave... but you can never tell with lawyers... I swear, Shakespeare
had the right idea...

Read on and I hope you enjoy the revision as much and hopefully more
than the original.

~******************************************************* **************~

She remained hidden behind the rock, letting the ocean spray cover her
body in a light mist as she watched her prey. The soft winds blew her
hair and dress about her, the pale lace fluttering gently in the wind.
Her eyes ran up and down her intended victim again and again, as she
tried to memorize every feature. Her pink lips were set closed, only
to prevent the bitter salt from entering her mouth. Her eyes were
surprisingly gentle, despite what she was to do in a just few moments.
She swallowed the lump that had lodged itself in her throat and she bit
back her nervousness as best as she could. She took a deep breath and
whispered, "The others believe in me enough to let me do this... I must
too believe in myself, or we're all damned," With that incentive, she
felt all of her qualms slip off of her and was replaced with raw
determination. She spread out her large white wings and appeared from
behind the rocks that lined the shore, hovering over the waves like a
ghost.

The men milling about on the ship, each doing their duty did not notice
her at first. The woman who watched them from a distance wondered if
perhaps she should make them aware of her presence, but then the man
in the crow's nest as she believed it was called began shaking with
fear... She sensed it from where she was, but did not hear him when he
whispered, "My God..." he stared at her for what seemed like hours...
Finally he got his wits about him and cried, "Siren! Look starboard!
Siren!!"

The other man immediately ran to the starboard side of the ship,
staring at her in awed terror. They knew all too well from tales and
myths the had heard on the waves what she was and what she intended to
do to them. Despite their fear, they did not scream or weep or run
down to the ship's hold... Instead, they just watched the demi-woman,
aghast...

A blonde man on the ship, who was obviously captain of it due to his
dress and manner, came up from the captain's quarters, having heard the
screams of the look out. He too stared at her for a moment and then
shouted into the hold, "Stay here! I forbid you to come on deck until
I call for you! Do you understand?" whoever he spoke to had not a
chance to answer, for he quickly shut the door. He turned to the siren
and stared at her for but a second... And then he began shouting orders
to ready the canons.

The angelic apparition floating above the water didn't miss a beat.
She was unaware of what canons were, but she remembered having been
warned that when she heard that word, she should begin to sing. That
if she did not do so, she would surely be killed... And she was not
eager to die, as all immortals were.

She opened her mouth and began singing a wordless melody. Hers was a
ghostly, soprano voice that slipped off her tongue like the most
natural thing in the world. She hit notes that seemed impossible to
hit and probably were by humans... But she as most definitely not human
and so she was able to sing as she did with ease. She started to
advance upon the ship, her voice growing louder as she neared it. Just
as the men would have been able to make out her face in detail, she
softened her gaze even more and began flying slowly around the ship,
drawing the men to her wherever she flew.

It did not take them long to fall victim to the beautiful enchantress.
Nearly all of them were sucked in instantly. They began to walk
towards her, desperate to get to her. Soon they began reaching over
the sides, trying to grab her with their bare hands. She pulled back
each time they too close.

She faltered a bit while singing, a little frightened of what they
might do if she failed... If somehow they were all able to break free
from her enchantment. She knew they would kill her... And she did not
want to die...

That was when she noticed that her hesitation was making them come out
of their trance. Her heart leapt in fear, and she knew that she must
not doubt herself... She had to keep singing, and she must not fail...
She must complete this witchery. She let lose another aria, this one
higher and more beautiful than the first. The men who had broken free
were soon sucked back in, and each man (save one) was held more
strongly than before.

She smiled in triumph as one of them began climbing over the side of
the ship. She continued to sing and seduce them all, her glee growing
with each man who committed suicide... For her. And as they leapt for
her, they always fell short, only to fall to their deaths on the deep
blue waves, screaming as they drowned in the sea. Soon, there was but
one left. The blonde-haired, blue-eyed captain, covering his ears to
put up a resistance.

The spell binding woman frowned slightly, fearing that she was failing
and moved in closer to the boat. She raised the volume of her voice
and once again changed her son. She got a look of desperation in her
eyes and beckoned to him as if he was her one true love. She continued
to intone the different notes and tones of her piece. The tempo never
changed, but it grew in volume and in pitch, rising higher and higher
and louder... She made her voice become more desperate, more longing.
She continued to entice him with her eyes and her voice. Her beauty
also aided in the process of her drawing him more and more under her
power.

The captain put up a valiant fight... But even though his eyes were
closed and he had shut his ears, nothing could block her out. He
opened his eyes and watched her... Watched her as she flew above the
turbulent waters and beckoned to him... Called for him to come to her
as if he was the only one she could love. Slowly, he let his hands
drop to his sides. He looked at her with eyes that held no life. They
were completely glazed over and devoid of anything... Suddenly, those
dead eyes became the eyes of a man filled with lust he began to move
towards her. He moved without telling his body to do so, his actions
and thoughts no longer his own. He reached for her desperately, and
she pulled back as before, never letting her song fade. She advanced
again, and then, once he was but three feet away from her, pulled back.
He was now at the edge of his ship. He stared at her anxiously,
wishing to be with her at that moment...

That was when he blinked, and stopped moving to her. He began staring
at her with eyes of confusion which slowly turned into revile. He
shook his head and whispered, "No... Rita..." he began to back away
from the edge and moved his ears up to his head once more.

The white witch did not let him get too far. She began yet a fourth
melody, this one sadder than all the rest. She had to have him... She
had to take all men on board. She could not let this one live to see
another ship set sail...

He had to die.

He fought her for but a moment when he became once again enthralled by
her deadly harmony. He practically ran to the edge, reaching for her
once more. She pulled back and beckoned to him... Waiting for
him... Wanting him to come to her... Knowing that if he did, it would
be as good as finished...

He slowly put one foot over the edge of the ship. The angel of death
and song grinned with delight again, and continued to draw him closer.
He put the other foot over the edge of the ship, standing on some
protruding wood that acted as decoration. He reached towards her, and
almost jumped...

When the woman he must have been speaking to in his quarters
appeared. She stared at the woman and he in fear and ran to the side,
shrieking at her husband. She grasped his shoulders, shaking him and
cried, "Andrew! Don't listen to her! Please!"

The woman in white narrowed her eyes at this development, and felt her
heart rate increase with her fear... If this woman should break her
enchantment, she would never be able to capture him again... And she
could not afford to let even one man survive. She continued to sing
louder, beckoning to him desperately.

The woman glared at her and shook the man who must be Andrew again,
"Darling please... Don't listen to her! Fight it! I know you can!"

Andrew continued to reach for the white siren, when suddenly he
hesitated. The woman was reaching him. He began to turn his head and
whispered, "Rita...?"

The woman who must be the one called Rita nodded happily and said,
"Yes husband... Come back over the side. Come on..." he did not move
and she shook him again, "Please Andrew! Don't you dare go to her! I
need you!"

Andrew slowly started coming around, and began to move towards Rita...
The white siren would not have it. She would not give him up after all
she had done. She beckoned once more, singing his name, "Andrew...
Andrew..."

He spun around at her call, to which Rita began pounding on his back,
screaming for him, hoping this would snap him out of it. He continued
staring at the siren, paying the mortal woman who beat him no mind...
he reached for her again, and stepped off of the ship, falling to his
death among the raging ocean.

Rita howled in anguish, her hands flying to her face in horror as he
plummeted downwards. She staggered back from side of the ship, and
tripped over some rigging lying on the ground. She fell hard, crying
out in pain as her tailbone hit the wood. She sat there, shaking with
anguish and fear... And then she saw the siren flying right above her.

Rita backed away as best as she could but the siren flew to her and
said, "Do not fear me... I have no qualm with mortal women..."

Rita was taken aback by the statement... Was that saying that she would
kill mortal men in front of their women because of a qualm she had with
the former? Was that not just as cruel as what she did to the men?
Was she not sobbing now? How dare she...? How dare she say that
taking her husband from her in front of her very eyes was not just as
wicked! She stared at her in disbelief which slowly shifted into
silent fury which did not stay so for long. She broke her silence and
screamed, "You killed my husband! Damn you, you killed him! You
killed them all!! And you dare to say you have no qualm with me; only
him?! Damn you! Damn you, you wicked harlot!!"

The white siren backed away in shock at her rage. She was slightly
unnerved by this woman's reaction, and had been caught off guard by it.
She wondered why this mortal was so enraged at what she had done... She
knew men could not understand her motives, but surely the women did.
Of course they saw why she did this...

So why was this one so angry with her?

She cocked her head to the side and said, "Are you not grateful for
what I have done?"

Rita let her mouth fall open, agog at the very suggestion. First
saying she did not have a qualm with Rita, yet she killed her only
love, and now this creature expected her to be grateful for it? That
was ten times as absurd and insulting in Rita's mind, and she would not
stand for it.

Rita slowly got to her feet, shaking with terror and rage as she said
in disbelief, "Grateful?" she shook her head and shouted, "I could
never be grateful to you, you wench! You took him from me! You
seduced him with your song, sending him to the water! Even though I
strived to save his soul, you still took him from me!! Could you not
let him live for my sake if you do not hate me? Could you not have let
one man survive?!"

The siren shook her head, laughing a bit at the very thought. She did
not understand this woman and why she did not understand her, but saw
no alternative but to answer her question. She shook her head and
said, "Of course not... It was his destiny to die. I could not allow
him to live just because you wished it."

Rita fell silent at that moment. She continued to quake with raw
emotion, wanting to say something to this animal... She stood there for
what might have been hours, trying to find the right words... She
searched desperately for what to say to this half bird, half woman to
gain her retribution for her husband's death... For the deaths of all
the men she had killed...

But she did not find them.

Finally, Rita gave up on words and began to rely on actions. Instead
of speaking to the siren, she resolved herself to collapsing once more,
allowing the tears to cascade down her cheeks even faster and more
plentiful than before.

The white woman, who could be described as cruelly innocent bent down
to Rita. She did not understand this woman's words, but this action
confused her even more. She pointed to her face and asked, "What is
this liquid that courses down your cheeks? They smell of the sea...
But how does ocean water come from your eyes?"

Rita looked up at the woman in shock and stared into her pale eyes...
They were truly puzzled and widened slightly in wonder. Rita continued
to look into her eyes and seemed to see that she was sincere... And
that was frightening. This creature honestly had no idea what tears
were... She did not understand her sorrow, and she did not understand
how she expressed it, "You don't know..." Rita breathed, the words
coming out as a statement, and not a question... For she need not have
asked, when she already knew.

"No I don't..." the siren said softly. She remained on board for a
time, but seemed to remember something and paled even more than
she was. She gasped slightly and shot upwards, above the crows nest.
She looked down at Rita, wanting to know more, but knowing it was
forbidden. She waved slightly and said, "But now I must go. I have
said too much as is... As have you I imagine... Good-bye," she looked
at Rita for but a fleeting few moments, and finally spun around and
flew to the direction of the rising moon, leaving Rita and "The Sea
Witch" far behind.

All right, so the prologue is almost exactly what it was originally...
You won't notice a real change until Part Two. ^^; But I hope you come
back for more of this fic as it grows far beyond my original ideas...
Thank you, and I hope you give me some feedback on my decision.
