Sailor Moon Fan Fiction ❯ An American Boy in Tokyo ❯ Not A Dream ( Chapter 3 )
After the initial shock had worn off, The girls found some bungee cords in the trunk of the car and started to tie me up with them.
"Ow!" I shouted in pain as one of the hooks scratched me.
"Is this really necessary?" Raye asked. "He knows who we are, right?"
"Duh, I think these little pictures in his wallet proved that one." Lita said.
"Well then he knows that if he tries anything funny, he'll be sorry." She said. "So Lita you sit on one side, I'll sit on the other, we'll watch this tape he has, and then we'll start asking questions." The tape was paused, Lita sat me on the middle seat of the couch.
"Go ahead and finish your snack." She said. "But don't try anything stupid."
"I-I-I couldn't move if I-I tried." I stammered quietly. "Can I please get s-s-something for my nerves?" I asked.
"Fine, but keep your hands where we can see them." Mina said. I slowly got up and stumbled into the kitchen getting the cigarettes out of the drawer again and lighting one. "That's a bad habit, you know." Mina said.
"I-I know...it can kill you." I replied. "B-but I think I've had enough close encounters today to warrant one." I said. "I can keep it in here if that's okay." I said. "I'm not going to run, and I couldn't hurt you if I tried." I explained.
"He's got a point." Serena said. "Just stay in the kitchen there."
"Thank you, S-S-Serena." I said sitting down. We all watched the movie from beginning to end. After it was over they looked at me.
"How did you get this tape, young man?" Luna asked.
"Luna!" Artemus hissed at her.
"Oh Artemus, weren't you even watching? He knows we can talk!" She said. "There's no point hiding any of it from him now, he already knows."
"So...w-w-what's gonna happen to me?" I asked, still stammering.
"Nothing, yet." Artemus said. "But we need to know how you have this tape."
"That's not all, look at this!" Raye walked up from my bedroom with four pink, rectangular boxes wrapped in celophane. I shot to my feet.
"Don't touch those! That's a discontinued collectors series!" I ran over and grabbed them from her darting back to the kitchen and setting them down on the table. After making sure there were no tears in the wrapper I sighed and slumped back into my chair. "You girls have no idea how big a fan I am of yours." I said staring at the tapes. "I've seen every episode, every movie, read every manga, I even host my own news group based on you five." I said.
"What are you talking about?" Mina asked. "Sailor `V'?"
"No, Mina, not just you, all you. You saw the tape, that was Sailor Moon S: The Movie, one of three hour long episodes. It's my personal favorite." I smiled slightly. "If this is a dream, and I'm not really here, it won't matter whether or not you believe me, because I'll wake up after a while and none of this will have ever happened. But just in case some astronomical phenomina opened a portal through reality, I'll try my best to explain what I'm saying, as long as Lita contains her temper long enough for me to finish." I said.
"Lita, hold your temper. Now then, young man, explain." Luna said. Three hours and two cigarettes later, I had told them everything I knew, and how I knew it.
"So what you're saying is, we're not real, we're cartoons from Japan, and dubbed into English by a company named D.I.C., is that what you're saying?" Mina asked.
"That's right." I said. "I know it sounds crazy, and I know that you probably don't believe a word I'm saying, but that's the truth."
"You're so full of bologna." Lita said. "I've never heard such a pack of bull in my life." I struggled to maintain my calm composure.
"I don't care if you believe me or not, but look at me, Lita, take a good look at me, what do you see?"
"A crazed stalker, that's what." She replied. "If we're not real, then how are you here?" She asked.
"I don't know." I said. "If I knew how I got here, I would leave, believe me."
"Why would you leave? You said you're our number one fan remember?" She retorted. I shook my head.
"Because, watching you on the television, and getting my butt kicked all over the place by you in person are two totally different experiences, and the later of the two is nowhere near as pleasant as the first one." I said, my voice started cracking. "I'm seventeen years old, and I should be just about ready to strike out on my own, but because of things like this, I'm on medication day in and day out."
"What do you mean things like this?"
"You've been here before?" Luna asked.
"Of course he has, he has the video evidence to prove it." Raye said.
"I'm done." I said quietly. "I'm done trying to explain it to you, you've already chosen not to believe me so go on ahead and do whatever it is you think you need to do."
Lita smiled and drew back a fist. Luna jumped in front of her.
"Stop. We have no reason to doubt him." She said.
"Luna, what?" She replied.
"Before any of you were Sailor Scouts, did you believe in aliens?" She asked. None of them said anything. "Exactly, there has to be some explanation for this. What was it you said earlier about a phenomina?" She asked me.
"Theoretically, a worm hole could have been opened, and consumed my house. My parents were away on business, so that would explain why they're not here. That's also assuming that the artist behind Sailor Moon is originally from here, and again it's all theory, no one even believes it any more."
"I've heard of it." Amy said finally. "The worm hole theory is quite popular among radical space engineers. Many of which live here in Tokyo, they say that it's an unprecidented event that strikes random targets, sometimes consuming whole planets, and sometimes not even bothering the fleas on a dogs back."
"That's the one." I said. "So, you've heard my story, what are you going to do?"
"I think we should play it by ear, he's obviously not evil." Amy said.
"How do you know that?" Lita asked.
"Lita, he was almost in tears when we first got here, the boy is scared to death, can't you see that?" Amy replied. "I don't like hearing what he says, but a wise scholar once said `You can search forever to find out if something exists, but just because you don't find it, doesn't mean it doesn't exist." She quoted. "In lay-man's terms, we might very well not exist, and we'd never know the difference."
"I'm convinced that you do." I replied. "This is not a dream." I said looking at a paper in front of me.
"How are you so sure?" Raye asked.
"I can read." I replied.
"So? What does that mean?"
"You dream with the right side of your brain, but you read with your left." I replied. "Try reading something when you're dreaming, you'll see what I mean."
