Kunzite and Venus. When you see this *, I am describing the art
portrait of them.

My other stories are at Generals Love, too! Hope you read them as
well. This story is rated G and entertainment only. I don't own

CHARADE
By Sailor DKC

"Princess Mina, this is Prince Malachite of Earth."
Mina curtseyed gracefully as Queen Serenity made the introductions.
"Prince Malachite, this is Princess Mina of the Moon."
Malachite bowed elegantly as his bodyguard, Darien, introduced him to
the princess.
"I am so glad that you two have finally met," Queen Serenity said.
"It is very important that the relations between the Earth and the
Moon improve through friendship and trust. Once you two start showing
your growing bond in friendship, it will encourage both sides to get
along well."
Malachite raised his hand to ask a question. "Your Majesty, may I
have a word with my general before I start touring the kingdom with
your daughter?"
"You are allowed, young prince. Mina, my dear, may I have a word with
you, also?"
"Yes, mother." Mina followed the Queen to one side of the throne
room.

Left alone with Darien, Malachite turned to him and spoke in a low
tone, "Your Highness, I don't approve of this!"
"Quiet, Kunzite!" Darien seethed, through clenched teeth. "You know
you are pretending to be me under the name of Malachite."
"But it is your duty to court the Princess of the Moon in order to
improve the relations between Earth and the Moon Kingdom."
Making a nervous look on his face, Darien muttered, "I know that!"
"Then why this charade?" Kunzite, a.k.a. Malachite, implored.
"Well, to tell you the truth, I met someone from the Moon."
"What?"
"She's the most beautiful person I've ever seen. Her name is Serena,
and I'm meeting her later."
"Does she know that you are the Prince of Earth?"
"No. I plan on telling her when the time is right." Grabbing his
friend's shoulders, Darien begged, "Please, my friend! I have to see
her again. Just go through this charade for a while."
"But for how long?" Kunzite asked. "Sooner or later, you will have to
be seen in public with Princess Mina."
Dropping his hands, Darien turned away. "The thing is, Kunzite, I am
planning to marry Serena. I love her."
Widening his eyes in shock, Kunzite sputtered, "But, you can't! You
are allowed to marry royalty. Marrying the Moon Princess will
definitely seal the friendship of our two worlds."
Whirling back at his bodyguard, Darien said angrily, "I will marry
who I WANT, not who I MUST!"
Kunzite stopped pursuing. He knew that his prince had firmly made up
his mind. "What are you going to do about Princess Mina?"
"When the time comes, I'll deal with it."

Queen Serenity placed her hands on Mina's shoulders. "Now you know
what to do, Lady Venus."
"My Queen, this is so wrong! Princess Serena should be here meeting
the Earth prince. Why do I have to pretend to be her?" Mina pleaded.
Exasperated, the Queen shook her head and shrugged. "My daughter is
always late or is never here when it comes to visiting royalties. The
prince has never met her so it will be all right. At the moment, I
don't know where she is."
Mina bit her lip in guilt. So far, she has fooled the Queen by going
along with this charade. The real princess, Serena, had asked Mina to
take her place because she is going to meet a man from Earth during
the Prince's visit. Mina wondered what the man looks like. Looking
past the Queen, she stared at the prince with the platinum blond
hair. 'Whoever she's meeting,' she thought, 'she's gonna regret not
meeting the Prince. What a cutie!' Then she realized something
important. Facing the Queen again, she asked, "But what if there is a
marriage? I cannot marry him. Your daughter is to marry a prince!"
Queen Serenity sighed. "It will be arranged for my daughter to marry
the prince if he asks. It is the only way to improve relations
between the Moon and the Earth."

During the next few weeks, there had been many visits between the
Moon and the Earth. Under their assumed identities, Kunzite and Mina
would attend meetings, parties, and local events. No person from
either world suspected them as royalty, just an ordinary Earth guy
and Moon girl courting. Relations between the two worlds were
improving and encouraging. It was also the start of a growing
affection between the two pretenders.

Kunzite was very intrigued with Princess Mina. She was not late to
their meetings as it was rumored and she had a white male cat as a
pet. He could have sworn that he heard somewhere that it was a black
female cat. Sitting next to her on a marble bench in the royal
gardens of the Moon Kingdom, he recalled their first meeting. Her
hair was not done in the style of her queen mother. 'It was down and
she wore a red bow,' he remembered, turning to look at her as she
watched the sunset. 'But she was pretty. And still is.' She was
wearing a light blue dress with spaghetti straps. The necklace which
hung loosely around her neck made her outfit look as if she would fit
in this garden as a portrait. 'I've never known anyone like her,' he
thought. 'I feel like I can open up anything in my life to her.'
Gazing at her side profile, he admired her gentle beauty. "So
beautiful," he murmured.
Suddenly, Mina turned to look at him. "Did you say something?"
Blushing a bit, he turned back to look at the sunset. "No, nothing."

Mina then stared at Malchite's side profile. He reminded her looking
at pictures of Greek gods with sharp features. 'He's not all that I
heard about,' she thought. 'The prince is rumored to be very forward
with his opinions. Yet at the events and parties that we've been to,
he seems hesitant as if waiting for permission.' She also recalled
how he seemed so cold and distant to everyone they talk to. But when
he talks to her, his hard eyes soften and the thin line of his mouth
thicken a bit more. Smiling to herself, she thought how it was pure
coincidence that his shirt color matches with her dress. His outfit
made him look more like a real person than a prince. 'What is it
about him?' she wondered. 'He makes me feel like I'm the only one he
thinks about.' Staring wistfully at him, she whispered, "So
handsome."
"What?" Malachite turned to look at her. Gasping briefly, Mina stood
up, muttering, "Nothing." Then she walked a few feet from him to
stare more at the sunset.

Watching her back, Kunzite felt a breeze come through. The wind swept
up Mina's hair and flowed it about her. Standing up, he walked over
to her as she brushed her hands up and down her arms. "Are you cold?"
he asked.
"Not really,-Oh!" she said, as she felt his arms embracing her.

* Placing his right hand to cup her head, Kunzite pressed Mina
against his chest and wrapped his left arm around her. Gripping the
back of his shirt with her left hand, Mina settled her other hand on
his arm around her waist. They stood there, holding each other and
watching the closing sunset.*

Although the sun was gone, there was still some light. Another breeze
went by, and both of them shivered. Caught in the moment, Kunzite
started pressing small kisses on Mina's head. She closed her eyes as
she felt him kiss further down to her bangs, then parting some of her
wisps of hair with his nose and kissing more on her forehead. She
slid her hand up to grip his shoulder as he started nibbling down the
side of her face and all over her jaw. Lifting her head up for more
access, she parted her lips slightly and let out some soft sighs. As
her knees weaken, her arms drooped to her sides. Sliding his hand
from her head to gently hold her neck, Kunzite kissed her fully on
the lips and tightened his arm more around her waist.

Feeling the sensual pressure of his lips caressing hers, Mina
thought, 'So strong yet so gentle.' Breaking off the kiss, she stared
at him, then reached up to slid her hands into his hair. She leaned
up to his lips as she gently grasp near his scalp. Kissing her
repeatedly, Kunzite slid his hands to her shoulders and held them
firmly. 'So delicate yet so sweet," he thought. The kiss continued on
as their heads swayed side to side in opposite directions of each
other as if they would never stop. Simultaneously, they thought,
'My prince!'
'My princess!'

It was like cold water splashed all over them, and they tore apart
away from each other. 'What was I doing?!' each of them thought,
shocked. They turned away from each other.
Kunzite ran a hand through his hair in frustration. 'I've kissed the
princess of the Moon!'
Mina covered her mouth with her hands in panic. 'I've kissed the
prince of Earth!'

"Your highness," Kunzite began. "I cannot go through this pretense
any longer."
Mina started at the same time. "Sire, forgive me, but I can't go
through this pretense any more."
"I am not the Prince."
"I am not the Princess."
Silence settled over them. "What?" they both said, turning to each
other.
Mina pointed at him. "You are not Prince Malachite?"
Kunzite pointed at her. "You are not the Moon Princess?"
Again, silence. Then Kunzite motioned back to the bench. "Perhaps we
should sit down and discuss this."
Nodding, Mina followed him to the bench.

"So do you know who your prince is seeing?"
"Well, I know her name, but I must not reveal for my prince's sake."
"I understand. I don't know who my princess is seeing, but I would do
the same for her." Folding her hands on her lap, Mina asked, "What
are we going to do?"
"I think the best thing we should do is to keep up with this charade
until our superiors make up their minds what to do for themselves."
Smiling, Kunzite slid a little closer to her and took her hand. "I
don't really mind. Over the past time, I enjoyed being with you."
Blushing, Mina smiled, also. "I enjoyed being with you, too. I'm
worried, though, about the Queen's hopes for our worlds' alignment.
It depends on the prince and my princess getting together."
"Well, maybe, they won't get together at all. As for the alignment,
it still may be successful. You and I, for example, are from
different worlds, and we're getting along great."
"That's right! And my princess is seeing someone from Earth, and your
prince is seeing someone from the moon. It can possibly work out!"
Taking her other hand, Kunzite stared at Mina. "I hope so. I want to
be more closer to you."
She stared back at him. "So do I."
They leaned toward each other and kissed.

Meanwhile, on Earth...

"Darien, will you still love me even I were a princess?" Serena
asked.
"Yes, because you love me for me even I were a prince," Darien
replied.
As they held each other, standing near a small pond in the woods,
each of them promised to themselves to soon reveal to the other who
their real identities are. 'Then we won't put up this charade any
more,' they thought, simultaneously.
