Makoto watched mournfully as her friends all laughed gleefully together. Rei, Usagi, Ami and Minako all had found love. Maybe I should skip out on today's events, Makoto thought. I don't think I could take another dose of their happiness right now. She sighed and melted back into the forest she had come through to find the group. They hadn't even noticed her presence as she had watched them. I'll just tell Usagi that I overslept, she thought as she wandered through the trees. She emerged on the other side of the forest, into a parking lot where her car was parked. The forest was a part of a large reserve that allowed human visitors to exist among the animals. She did not go to her car though; instead she walked past it and towards the other forest, the thicker, more dangerous area of the park. It was a restricted area, but Makoto went in anyways. A small bolt of lightning to the lock of the fence provided an entrance for her. Makoto walked and walked for what seemed like eternity. She wasn't tired; indeed she gathered energy from the trees around her. Finally, she came to a small clearing with a waterfall and a pool. She shucked off her clothing and dove in. The water was so clear, the visibility was amazing. She swam, naked, for a while before she heard a sound, a twig breaking. It was by sheer luck that she had heard it at all. All her senses were on full alert. Another snap of dry wood directed her attention to the treetops surrounding the clearing. Movement from one branch to another, a figure hidden by the leaves. Makoto lifted her right hand out of the water and pointed to the figure, aimed carefully and shot a low voltage lightning bolt at the person. A strangled cry was heard and a man fell from the trees into the water. Makoto watched as he floundered a bit before regaining his composure. His long dark hair was sun-bleached and covering his eyes. He shoved the hair out of the way and stared blatantly as Makoto. She tilted her head questioningly at the man, her eyes taking in his handsome face and obviously chiseled body. After a few moments, she swam to shore, feeling his eyes watching her. She redressed and waited patiently for the man to come out of the pool. When he didn't, she said, "What are you waiting for? The earth to stop? Get out of there."

It had been a normal day for Neflite. He had been wandering around downtown all morning for his friend Mamoru, looking for the store that held the perfect gift for the Mamoru's girlfriend. Mamoru was particular that Neff conduct the task, since Mamoru trusted him more than he trusted the others, while the rest of the workers went to a picnic that Usagi and her bubble-headed friends had put together. Neff sighed, he knew he wasn't being fair to Usagi, he hardly knew her at all. All he knew about her was from the times she had passed by him at the office. She was beautiful. Neff wanted her for himself. He was miffed that she had chosen Mamoru over him, but he was happy for his friend. He just also happened to be envious at the same time. Neff had finally located the store Mamoru had told him about around noon. It was on the edge of the downtown area, almost out of sight. The present was already bought and paid for, all Neff had to do was pick it up. He trudged back to the office and placed the gift into the safe as per Mamoru's request. The day was getting hot and all Neff wanted was to get away from the city. He remembered that Mamoru had mentioned the picnic was being held at the nature reserve outside of Tokyo. The place was huge, so the chances of finding his friend were slim to none, but he wanted to try. If anything, he'd get a free meal. Grabbing his keys, Neff headed out the door and to his car. It wasn't as nice as Mamoru's but it got him from point A to point B and that was what was important.
It didn't take as long as he thought it would to get there. Mamoru's car stood out, it being a Jaguar. Mamoru always did like his stuff to be flashy. Neflite followed the path near it and came across Mamoru's group. He didn't venture close enough for them to see him, but he was able to see someone else who was watching the happy group. A girl, a beautiful one at that, gazed mournfully into the clearing. One look at her and all thoughts of Usagi left his mind for good. Neff vaguely remembered her from the group photo on Mamoru's desk. She was a friend of Usagi's, but she had a sad look on her face as she turned around and walked away. He was strongly reminded of an angel as he watched her. She was dressed in white cargo pants and a green tank top that showed off her figure nicely. He watched her leave and followed her. She wandered over into the restricted section of the park. Somehow, she was able to unlock the gate. Neff noticed burn marks on the lock and wondered about this but continued to follow the girl. She headed to another clearing that had a pool of water underneath a water fall. He climbed into the trees and watched her from up there. He nearly fell out though when she removed her clothing and proceeded to go skinny-dipping. He was entranced by the girl and felt a heat blossom in his groin. Thankfully, she can't see me, he thought as he shifted his weight on the branch. A twig snapped under his foot and a second later he was hit by something that shocked the hell out of him. He landed roughly in the water and came face to face with the angel. He could see her through the wet hair hanging in front of his eyes, staring at him. He pulled the hair out of the way and saw that her eyes were a brilliant green color. She calmly got out of the water and dressed in front of him, not hiding her body, not being self-conscious at all. She turned to him and said, "What are you waiting for? The earth to stop? Get out of there." Neff had been shocked by her actions, but had remained in the cold water to rid himself of his arousal. Slowly, he left the safety of the water and stood dripping in front of her.
"Why were you watching me?" she asked in a low, steady voice.
Neff went bright red and tried to come up with a valid answer, but somehow the truth came tumbling out, how he had followed her from the picnic, and ended up in a tree spying on her. She looked at him with a blank face for two full seconds before punching him in the face with all of her might. He fell back and actually rolled a few times from the power in her punch. She still had a blank look as he looked up at her, blood streaming out of his nose. She walked over to him and helped him up and all the way through the forest to her car. She bandaged him up using a first aid kit she had in the trunk.
"My name is Kino Makoto. You do realize how much you deserved that, don't you?"
Neff nodded glumly, "Niss to beet you. By name es Neflite." He had tissue stuffed up both his nostrils and was having trouble speaking correctly. They shook hands, sparks flying up Neff's arm as he held her hand in his. He had never felt this way before. All thoughts of Usagi left his mind as he gazed at the angel in front of him. No, he thought, not just any angel, an archangel. She bid him goodbye and left. He watched as her car headed out of the parking lot and vanished out of sight down the road.
What a strange man, Makoto thought, handsome, but a pervert for spying on me like that. His eyes, the clearest blue color she had ever seen, had been intense. His wet clothing had showed off his lean body and her interest in him had peaked once she had her revenge on him. She grimaced at the memory of him falling backwards from her attack. She had hit him pretty hard… But he deserved it, she thought, although she now felt a bit sorry for what she had done. Oh well, not like I'm ever going to see him again.
The next workday, Neff showed up earlier than everyone else, in order to catch Mamoru alone. He delivered the package he had been sent to retrieve and asked Mamoru about the girl he had seen.
"Neff-ster, who are you talking about? What girl?"
Neff picked up on of the framed photos that sat on the shelf and pointed to the girl. "This girl, I saw her on Saturday. Who is she?"
"That's Makoto-chan. She has an apartment next to me and Usagi. They're best friends. They work together at night and in emergencies. Why do you ask?"
"She is the most beautiful girl I've ever seen. I now understand the phrase `love at first sight'. Can you introduce me to her?"
