Darien's Surprise
Part 1
By Angel Love

Authors notes: This was the first story that I ever wrote for Sailor Moon. It is based after the Stars series. Serena is a senior in high school. And things have been peaceful for some time. Andrew, Ken and Chad already know about Serena's secret identity as Sailor Moon. Please let me know what you guys think. Standard disclaimers apply.

Serena looked out her bedroom window. Disappointment flickering through her baby blue eyes. A sigh escaped her lips.

"Luna, Darien just called me to say he couldn't make it for our date tonight," the petite blond told her black cat with a gold crescent moon on her forehead. "Did he say anything about it to you when you were over at his apartment this morning?"

"No, Serena, he didn't tell Artemis or I anything." the cat answered, not looking at her mistress.

Serena plopped down on the bed next to Luna and laid back spreading her blond hair out in two twin pigtails behind her. Her baby blues looked over at Luna, a pouty expression on her face. "Everyone else is busy doing something. I was planning on a date with Darien. Now what am I supposed to do?" she whined.

"I would suggest that you study, but that doesn't get me anywhere." The cat said dryly. "How about you and I go for a walk in the park?"

"Don't you have plans with Artemis?" Serena questioned her guardian.

At the mention of her love's name Luna blushed a bright red. "Not tonight. I was planning on spending the night cat-napping." Luna replied while cleaning her paws. "How about that walk? Since you haven't become Sailor Moon for awhile you could use the exercise!" Luna teased while jumping off the bed barely avoid the pillow that was thrown at her.

"You're one to talk!" She laughed while rolling over onto her stomach. Her laughter died suddenly when she felt the impression of her brooch. "I almost miss being Sailor Moon." Serena said quietly. "Don't get me wrong, I don't miss the fighting. I miss helping people when they needed it."

"Oh, Serena! I know what you mean. You were the Champion of Love and Justice after all. Of course you are going to miss it" Luna said soothingly.

"Let's go to the park. I could use the exercise." Serena said, changing the subject quickly.

When they reached the park, Serena noticed a small, white cat with a crescent moon on its forehead sitting on the bench.

"Oh look, Luna, there's Artemis! Maybe you two can spend the evening together after all." Serena crowed happily for her compainion.

When she looked up at the cat sitting on her shoulder she noticed that Luna had a funny expression on her face, almost like she was hiding something. Then she noticed that Artemis had the same look on his face. "Okay, what are you two up to? I hope that you haven't planned on doing something to cheer me up about Darien breaking our date. I'll be fine, it isn't the first time I've spent an evening alone."

Both cats chuckled softly. "We didn't plan on anything. I was told to bring you here at 5 o'clock." Luna said smugly, pleased with herself at how easily it was to get her mistress there.

"And I was asked to give you these when you got here." Artemis responded. Then he handed Serena an envelope and a single white rose.

My Only Love,

I am truly sorry that I that I had to break our date. I know that it hurt you. But I wanted to do this surprise for you. Follow the instructions that are given to you and I will see you soon, Angel. I love you.

Darien

Serena was blushing when she folded the note and slide it back into the envelope. "He is so romantic. That guy is so perfect!" She whispered softly to herself.

"So what are your instructions for me, Oh Wise One?" Serena asked Artemis as she turned her focus on the two smug-looking felines. She wasn't at all upset with them for tricking her.

"We are to go to the arcade." Artemis responded while stretching out and then jumping onto Serena's other shoulder.

"Alright." Serena practically sang out. She turned towards the exit of the park and started walking when she noticed a tall blond leaning up against a yellow convertible wearing a tux. A rush of happiness filled her.

"Amara! What are you doing here? And in a tux?" Serena exclaimed to the older woman in front of her, throwing her arms around her and giving her a quick hug.

"Hello, Moonface. I thought that I could try to woo you away from your Prince." Amara gave a sexy smile and kissed Serena's hand, wiggling her eyebrows at her princess.

Serena giggled because she knew that Amara wasn't serious. She giggled again when Amara produce a red rose from behind her back.

"This is from your Prince. Darien asked me to be your escort around town tonight. So I am at your service, Your Highness." Amara told her while bowing low.

Serena giggled again. "Well, thank you!" Then Serena shyly took Amara's offered arm and let herself be helped into the car. The cats jumped off her shoulders and settled themselves next to her in the back seat.

"Are you sure that you don't want to go out on a date with me instead of Darien?" Amara asked looking into the rearview mirror and winked.

Serena giggled again, shaking her head, as they left the park and headed for the arcade.

********************************************************** ****

Amara stopped in front of the arcade and offered her hand to Serena, ignoring the comments about her driving from the cats.

Serena also ignored the comments and took Amara's hand with gratitude. "We made it here in record time!" Amara said, a hint of triumph in her voice.

Serena smiled a pretty smile at Amara and then turned her attention to the arcade. "Is the arcade even open? I don't see anyone inside." Her stomach was beginning to form knots while she wondered what Darien had in store for her.

"Don't worry so much, Princess. You'll see Darien tonight." Amara whispered softly in her ear, as she led Serena up to the arcade doors.

They walked through the sliding doors with the cats close behind muttering something about being on safe ground outside the car.

Sitting on the Sailor V game was a pretty young blond that looked remarkably like Serena considering they weren't even related. She had her blond hair pulled back in a red bow and her blue eyes danced with mischief. Standing next to her was a tall blond man wearing an apron.
"Hello, Mina, Andrew! I got her here now she is all yours for 20 minutes." Amara told them, glancing at the clock on the wall.

"Well, I am supposed to give you a lovely rose to an even lovelier lady." Andrew said as he handed her a white rose.

Serena giggled and turned red at Andrew's comment. It wasn't so long ago that she had a crush on the blond man standing in front of her.

"And these are for you to wear tonight" Mina said, holding up a beautiful white silk dress and a pair of glass slippers. She jumped down off of the game and came closer to Serena so that the moon princess could run her hands down the dress.

"I never knew that Darien had such good fashion sense." Serena whispered softly. Her heart starting to flip over as she thought of the trouble he went through to pick out this dress.
"Come on, Serena, I'll help you put it on." Mina suggested, leading Serena towards the back of the arcade.

Ten minutes later, Serena walked out in the dress, with Mina close behind her. It had spaghetti straps so her shoulders were exposed and it cut low down her back almost to her butt, revealing a nice amount of skin. The front hugged her perfectly formed breasts to show off plenty of cleavage. It flared out just under her breasts and touched the floor covering her beautiful glass slippers.

Amara, Andrew and Artemis let out whistles.

"Please, tell me that you'll leave Darien for me." Amara said low, her voice holding a tint of huskiness.

"You look like a goddess!" Andrew praised her.

Serena blushed and curtsied for them. "I feel like Cinderella." She said laughing.

"I think that you could use this too. At least until you get to were Darien is." Luna said as she motioned to a wrap that sat on the table in front of her. "You look great Serena." Luna said proudly.

"Thank you, Mina." Serena said as she gave the Senshi of Love a hug.

She turned to Andrew, "Thank you for doing this."

"It is no problem. Darien is my best friend. I would do anything for him. And that means to get you to your next destination. You are supposed to go to the bench in front of the old abandon house where Darien showed you the stray kittens."

"Then let's go. Shall we?" Amara said as she offered Serena her arm.
****************************************************************
Amara screeched to a stop in front of the old abandoned house, once illisiting frightened meows from the cats. She helped Serena out of the vehicle and together they walked around the corner to the awaiting bench.

Sitting on the bench was a tall brunette with deep emerald eyes and next to her was a young man with brown hair. They were sharing one of the girl's famous meals.

"Lita! Ken!" Serena squealed with delight. Her mouth watered slightly at the sight of the food.

"Hey there, Girlfriend! You look great in that dress." Lita stood up and hid the food behind her. She didn't want Serena spoiling her appetite, if that was possible.

"This rose definitely pales next to you, but this is from your beau." Ken said handing her a red rose.

"Thank you, Ken." Serena blushed slightly while taking the rose and adding it to the other three that were in her hand.

"But to make that dress look even better I have these to go with it." Lita said while taking a velvet box out of her pocket and placing it in Serena's hand.

Serena opened the lid. "OH MY GOODNESS!" Serena exclaimed, a tear rolled down her delicate cheek.

Inside the box was a pair of small diamond earrings shaped like crescent moons. They sparkled brightly at the blond from the box.

"Here let me help." Lita said when she noticed that Serena trembled slightly. "Wow they look great on you." Lita said when she was done.

"Thanks, Lita." Serena breathed out, as she hugged the Senshi of Lightening.

"Thank you, Ken," she flashed him a bright smile.

"No problem, Serena." Ken said.

"I would do anything to see that you are happy." Lita told the shorter girl, squeezing her hand.

"You two better get going." Ken told Amara. "You are supposed to go to Raye's temple."
"Will Darien be there?" Serena asked hopefully.

"I honestly don't know. He would not tell us anything in case you tried to get any information out of us." Lita told her friend and leader. "But don't worry he wouldn't go through all this and then not show up." She added quickly when she saw Serena's crestfallen face.

"Let's go, Moonface." Amara said as she took Serena's arm. "Bye you guys."
****************************************************************

Amara, Serena and the two cats reached the top of the stairs at the temple to see and exotic-looking girl with long black hair to past her butt and bright lavender eyes. Close to her was a shaggy-haired young man drooling at the sight of her. She was threatening him with her broom until she caught sight of them.

"Hey, Meatball Head, you are actually made it here on time for a change." the priestess teased.

"Stop it, Raye. I am in way to good of a mood for you to spoil it." Serena said with a big smile. She really enjoyed the fights that she and Raye had nowadays. "Hey there, Chad."

"Oh, hi, Serena." Chad said just noticing that there were more people there. "You look nice. Um, I'm supposed to give this to you." He said while handing her a white rose.

"I'm supposed to give you this." Raye said handing Serena another velvet box.

"Darien sure went through a lot of trouble to do this." Taking the velvet box in her hand.

"Not to mention a lot of money." Raye muttered under her breath.

Serena didn't hear her because she had just opened the box and let out a small gasp.
Inside was a beautiful diamond crescent moon pendant on a delicate gold chin. It matched the earrings that she wore perfectly.

Her eyes clouded as she gazed at the lovely necklace. Her fingers trembled noticably.

"Are you okay, Serena?" Raye asked when Serena stared at the necklace for a minute without saying anything.

"Huh? Yea, it is so beautiful." Serena said a little breathless still staring at the necklace.

"Here let me put it on." Raye said to her best friend. She slipped the necklace out and handed the box and her broom to Chad. She secured the necklace as Serena's hand went up to touch the pendant.

"That is very pretty, Serena." Luna said as she watched Raye slip the clasp close.
"Darien, My Love. You really are great." Serena said as a tear slid down her cheek. "Thank you, Raye." Serena whispered quietly to the Senshi of Fire, grabbing her hand.

"You're welcome." Raye whispered back squeezing Serena's hand, then kissed Serena on the cheek.

"You are like supposed to go the bench by the lake." Chad said to Amara.

"Go on Cinderella. Your Prince Charming awaits." Raye said letting go of Serena's hand and wiping away another tear that was making its way down Serena's pretty face. Then watched with a bright smile as Serena and Amara made their way down the stairs with the cats close behind.
