Darien's Surprise
Part 3
By Angel Love
Author's notes: Serena is seventeen in this fic. It is legal in Japan for women to marry at sixteen. This is based during her last year of high school. And peace has reigned on earth since the defeat of Galaxia.
Thank you to all of you who read and reviewed. It means so much to me.
Standard disclaimer: I don't own Sailor Moon. I never will, unless you count the millions of objects all around my house. ^_^
Amara and Serena arrived at the rose gardens within 10 minutes of leaving Darien's apartment (Normally it would have taken 20, but Amara drives really fast). Amara led Serena to the center of the gardens where there was a clearing.
There was a large white blanket was laid out and a vase was in the center of it and rose pedals spread all around. Serena gently dropped to her knees, her dress billowing out around her, and put her 8 perfect roses in it. Then she noticed that there were two more roses, one white and one red on either side of the vase. So with a smile, she arranged those as well.
She didn't notice Amara fading into the background, a big smile on her face, or three handsome young men that silently approached her.
"Hello, Odango!" said a familiar voice in front of her.
Serena's head snapped up. "Seiya?" Her baby blues met navy blues. "Oh My God, Seiya!"
Suddenly Seiya had his arms full with a blond tornado squeezing the life out of him. "I'm glad to see you too, Serena. But I can't breath," Seiya laughed, gently pushing Serena away from him just enough so that he could look at her. "Wow, you look even better than when I left. Actually, I've never seen you look more beautiful," Seiya said as he looked Serena up and down a couple of times before his eyes finally settled on her face.
"Um... thanks," Serena stammered at the emotion that she saw in his eyes. She knew that he had a crush on her when he was here, or at lest she realized that after he left. The girls tried to tell her it was more, but she didn't believe it until now. To her Seiya was always her friend.
"Are you done drooling all over the Moon Princess?" a young man with green eyes and a silver ponytail said, pulling lightly on Seiya black/purple one. "We might want a chance too."
"Are all the Lights here?" Serena asked in amazement as she glanced over Seiya's shoulder at the silver-haired boy and another boy with a brown ponytail.
Seiya chuckled softly. "Do you think that I could ever come to Earth without taking Yaten and Taiki?"
"Shut up, Seiya. You begged Taiki and I to come," Yaten said with a sarcastic grin on his face. "We couldn't resist your pathetic face."
"Kayuu sends her love, Serena," Taiki inserted smoothly avoiding an argument between his 'brothers'.
"How is your planet doing?" Serena asked, concern filling her voice. She knew that their planet had been destroyed during the Sailor Wars and they had to rebuild everything.
"The clean up is going slow but well," Taiki responded, smiling brightly at her.
"Enough business. That is not why we are here. These are for you, Odango." Seiya said as he and the other Lights each produced pink roses. (It was a trick for Seiya because he still had one arm wrapped around Serena.)
"Oh, thank you." Serena giggled, fingering the three roses. "So Darien talked you into coming here, huh?"
"No, actually. Sailor Pluto showed up two days ago and asked us to do it," Taiki told a shocked Serena.
"I think that Seiya would have a problem if Dar-ooofff!" Yaten put a hand to his stomach after Seiya had successfully stopped him from embarrassing him even more. He sent a glare towards his leader but it was ignored since Serena had all of his attention.
"We are also here to give you a private concert from the Three Lights," Seiya said, giving Serena a wink and reluctantly letting her out of his arms.
"My own concert!" Serena squealed, clapping her hands together.
"I hope that means that you are happy," came a husky voice behind Serena, close to her ear.
"Darien?!?!" Serena spun around as the Three Lights took their leave and went up to the stage, something that Serena had not noticed before.
Standing directly behind her was a gorgeous man with stormy blue eyes, midnight black hair and a sexy grin. He was wearing a tux and holding out another rose. This one was black on the outside and as its petals went in they turned red.
"Oh, Darien!" Serena took the rose and crossed the short distance to him and kissed him full on the lips. Passion exploded between the two as they deepened the kiss. Serena let out a low moan as Darien pulled her close to his body, his arms sliding down her bare back. Then it was Darien's turn to groan when Serena returned the gesture by pressing herself fully up against him, her arms sliding up over his arms.
Serena was so lost in the kiss that she didn't notice that the music had started or that there were two young girls setting food out onto the blanket around their feet. The first young girl was frail-looking with black hair that was cut shoulder length, and big purple eyes that held more wisdom than she had years. The second girl was a bit younger than the other and looked remarkably like the two lovers that were lost in each other's kiss. Her hair was pink and done up in the same "meat-ball" style as Serena except they were more cone-shaped, and she had large red eyes, that danced merrily as she gazed up at the loving couple.
In the bushes all of the Senshi had gathered. Raye had a video camera that could record at night. And Michelle had a regular camera. Both were busy trying to get good shots without the couple noticing.
The two broke the kiss and gasped a little for air. "Thank you for going through all of this for me, Muffin." Serena said gazing up at Darien with love-filled eyes. She was truly amazed at how far Darien had gone to accomplish all of this.
"I love you, Serena. I would move the solar system for you," Darien said, as he pressed his forehead to his love's. He sat her down on the blanket where she noticed that there was food around them and two young girls standing there.
"Oh, Darien. It's lovely!" Serena exclaimed, as she opened her arms and her future daughter threw herself into her arms. "How are you doing, Reeny? I've missed you. How is Crystal Tokyo?"
"I'm great, Serena," Reeny said. "I wouldn't miss this for the world." The pink-haired girl giggled in Serena's arms.
"These are for you," Hotaru said quietly, as she and Reeny produced two purple roses.
"Oh, thank you, Reeny, Hotaru," She said, reaching up to hug Hotaru as well.
She turned to Darien. "Oh, my love, these are so lovely."
Darien's eyes took in Serena's flushed face and smiled his charming smile. "Not as lovely as you. I have never seen you look more beautiful, in this life or the last." Then he captured her lips for tender kiss that spoke of how much love the two held for each other.
When the kiss broke, Hotaru and Reeny appeared with a bottle of champagne and two wine glasses. "Madame, Sir," Reeny said with a giggle as she handed them each a glass.
Serena giggled, "That is the most respect that I have ever gotten out the spore!"
Hotaru was also giggling as she filled each of their glasses with champagne. "We will leave you to your dinner." She and Reeny bowed and left them alone.
"Oh my! Darien, you bought champagne!" Serena giggled as she took a sip, enjoying the tingling sensation that it created on the way down.
"And you aren't going to be getting that much. I don't want you to get tipsy on me and not remember this night," Darien teased. He briefly thought about the party he took her to where she got drunk.
"Like I would forget this perfect of a night. Even if we do have a solar system of spies," Serena nodded towards her senshi. They were starting to push each other to get a better view and sighing dreamily. "Let's eat!"
Darien chuckled softly. Serena was never one to pass up food. Surprisingly Serena took her time to eat her food. She was not in a hurry for this night to end. Darien rose to his feet when they were done and offered her his hand and bowed low. "Princess Serenity, may I have this dance."
"Of course, Prince Endymion," Serena said as she took his hand and gracefully got to her feet.
Darien twirled her around and they proceeded to dance gracefully around the garden. Suddenly the music changed from the Light's usually stuff to a country tune. Seiya began to sing the lyrics for 'From This Moment' by Shania Twain, the other two taking up the lyrics sung by Brain White.
Darien halted their dance, dropped to one knee and took one of Serena's small hands in his large ones. "My love, you are my light. You brought me out of the darkness; out of my lonely existence and into a life filled with love and laughter, not to mention plenty of adventure," He wiggled his eyebrows at her. "You are my soulmate. I never want to live one day without your beautiful smile and your shining eyes. I love you more in this life than the last. I will love you more as each day goes by. Please say that you will spend the rest of your life with me. Marry me, Serena," Darien pleaded, holding his breath to await her answer.
Tears fell down Serena's cheeks as she listened to his heart-filled words. "Oh, Darien... How could I not? Yes! Yes I will marry you," Serena cried softly.
Darien pulled a ring out of his pocket and slid it onto Serena's finger. It was a heart-shaped diamond on a gold band. She looked at it quickly before Darien swept her up in his arms and spun her around as he kissed her.
They broke off as they heard applause. Serena looked around to see everyone clapping including the Lights who had stopped playing to hear her response. She also saw Michelle snap her picture so she pulled away from Darien to show off her ring and Michelle snapped another picture.
Darien pulled her back to him and leaned down for another kiss which she gave him readily. This one held more passion than any other between the two. It left the pair gasping for breath as they looked into each other's eyes.
"Darien, let's go back to your apartment," Serena whispered huskily.
"Are you sure?" Darien asked her a little shocked. They had always talked about waiting.
"Yes, I think now is the perfect time."
Darien picked her up and cradled her on the way to his red sports car. Serena caught Lita's eye and winked. A cheer went up around the Senshi and Lita pulled out her cell phone and called Serena's parents. Yaten reached over and turned on a radio and walked down to take Mina's hand and pull her out on the dance floor. Amara and Michelle soon joined the couple. Shrugging their shoulders and following their brother's lead, Taiki and Seiya both walked over to the Senshi and chose dancing partners, Taiki-Amy and Seiya-Raye. Hotaru grabbed Reeny's hand as they went out to dance giggling the whole way.
Lita turned to Trista when she was done with her phone call and said, "We definitely need more guys in the Senshi.
Trista smiled mischievously, "Who needs guys? Let's just have fun!" She grabbed a shocked Lita's hand and twirled her out where everyone was dancing. She laughed, "That makes two people that I have totally shocked today!"
