Don't Close Your Eyes

"Usagi-san you are just going to have to face it. I don't love
you anymore. What is in the past should stay in the past. I do not want
the fact that I was Prince Endymion during the Silver Millennium to
control what I do in this life," said Mamoru.

"Demo, Mamo-chan. I know you don't mean that, I love you and I
know you love me. Please why are you doing this," said Usagi.

"Look you have to just face it. No matter what you believe I do
not love you," said Mamoru, silently praying that his voice was not
giving away the feeling he was truly feeling. He saw the tears coming
from her eyes and he could have sworn his heart was breaking. Before a
tear fell from his eyes he quickly turned and walked away. He stopped
walking when he heard the sounds of Usagi's footsteps running the other
way. 'Gomen Usako. I just wish I could tell you why I am doing this.

Then Mamoru walked home his sunglasses hiding the tears in his
eyes. When he got to his apartment he didn't even bother to take off
his shoes. He walked straight over to his couch and buried his head in
his hands crying.

That night Rubeus launched an attack on a rural area of the
Juuban district of Tokyo. The creature was male (don't you just get
sick of all the female youma?) and had what appeared to be circular saw
blades coming from his arm. When Sailor Moon arrived the other senshi
were fighting but they appeared to be the only ones weakening.

"Minna-chan daijobou?" cried out Sailor Moon. When she turned and
saw the creature looking at her Sailor Moon realized her mistake of
calling out.

The creature released multiple saw blades at Sailor Moon. She
managed to dodge most of them with great agility but then her agility
gave out on her and she was struck in the side which caused a deep
gash. Trying to ignore the blinding pain in her side Sailor Moon raised
her scepter and started the routine. When she was done the energy
released from the scepter hit the youma dead on and vaporized it
leaving only a little gem with an inverted crescent moon on it.

Tuxedo Kamen arrived to see the monster be vaporized. He stayed
hidden in the shadow of the leaves of the tree after he noticed that
Sailor Moon's side was bleeding badly from a gash she received earlier.
He then saw her collapse from the loss of energy and blood. He jumped
from the tree branch he was standing on and ran to Sailor Moon. He
picked her up and cradled her in his arms.

When Tuxedo Kamen saw that Sailor Moon's eyes were fluttering
closed he shook her lightly trying not to cause the gash in her side to
bleed anymore if that was even possible. "Sailor Moon! Sailor Moon you
have to stay awake. I need you stay awake. Onegai fight sleep," said
Tuxedo Kamen.

"So tired. So weak. Need sleep," said Usagi as her transformation
gave out in order to help her save energy. Her eyes slowly fluttered
shut.

"Iie. Come on Usako. Don't close your eyes. I need you to stay
awake. Onegai, don't close your eyes," said Mamoru who had let his
transformation go. When Usagi's eyes would not open Mamoru had begun to
cry. "Usako. Onegai. Open your eyes. Usako don't leave me."

He continued to try to awaken her for about ten minutes but never
succeeded. He stopped after he realized there was nothing he could do.
Mamoru carefully held her lifeless body in his arms. And carried her to
a bench. He then asked one of the senshi to call an ambulance.

When the ambulance arrived the paramedics pronounced Tsukino
Usagi dead. When they asked what had happened Mamoru told them of the
attack and of the whole truth about who Usagi was.

After Usagi was taken away by the paramedics Mamoru went straight
to the Tsukino house hold to explain to them what had happened. After
explaining everything both Ikuko and Kenji were sobbing and Shingo was
in a state of shock. Mamoru apologized for not being able to protect
their daughter and sister.

"I hate you," spoke Kenji. "First you break my daughter's heart
and then you fail to protect her! You should have been there! You are
the one who should be dead!"

In response Mamoru gave the reply only Ikuko had expected. "I
know I should be. I stayed away from her to protect her and in the end
she died because of it. I tried to ignore the call but I couldn't and
now I know I shouldn't have. If I could exchange my life for hers I
would."

"Save it. Just go. I don't want to see you," said Kenji.

Silently Mamoru left. Four days later was the funeral. All of the
senshi were there. Mamoru was in attendance as were Naru, Umino, and a
woman with long dark green hair. The Tsukino's were all crying. Ikuko
and Kenji looked as thought they had aged ten years since Mamoru last
saw them.

On the Head stone read:
Tsukino Usagi
1986-2001
Beloved Daughter,
Friend, Sister, and
Heroine
No Longer must she
Evils of the world

Okay don't hate me for killing off Usagi. I am not completely done with
this fic. The continuation will come out some time this week. I think
you will like how I wind it all up.
