Don't ever touch me (again)

A songfic by Sapphire

Disclaimer: I don't own Sailor Moon or the song "Don't ever touch me (again)" by Dionne Ferris. This fanfiction is for entertaining purposes only. I don't gain any profit from it, so please don't sue.

Author's Note:

A few weeks ago I was digging through my CDs, highly bored. And I found this little treasure, "Wild Seed- Wild Flower" an album released in 1994 (when I was 14) which I never botherd to hear completely. I bought it because of just ONE song. It is called "I know" and one of my all time favourites. So I took the time to listen to the album closely for the first time and found that it really was a treasure. It's one of the best albums I own!

The 7th song on the CD, "Don't ever touch me (again)" stirred something in me. I was thinking of a way to make a fanfic of this song.

At first, I wanted to make a DragonballZ fic of it, but the song is so unlike the character I would have made it sing. So I wonderd wether I should make an original fic of it or another fanfic. I finally settled on a SailorMoon fic. And this is what came out.

One word of warning, though. Darien is quite OOC in this one. In fact, I make him a pretty big -BEEEEEEP-. Not because I don't like him (though his witty comments as Tuxedo Mask surely get on my nerves sometimes), but because it wouldn't go to well with the lyrics if I couldn't make him the bad guy.

The coupling in this fic is none. Though it could turn into a Seiya/Serena if I ever write a sequel to it.

Another warning: this fiction features sex, prostitution, abuse and violence. I therefore consider this story to be suitable for 18 years and older.

If you are under that age I recommend you: do not read this story!

Same if you are not comfortable with any of the forementioned reasons for this fic to be PG-18.

Now that I did my duty, on with the fic.

P.S.: Please read and review

They were excited, all three of them. They were on their way to earth, yet again. How they had missed it! Missed earth and it's clear blue sky.

Life on earth was so different from court life on their homeplanet. They deeply loved their princess, they would never abandon her. But they missed their friends and Fighter... well, she had lost her heart on that planet, lost it to a fellow senshi. She didn't want it back, she just wanted to check on her, make sure she was allright and happy. That was all, really. It was their reason to travel back to earth. That and the nagging feeling in Fighter's head, that something had gone terribly wrong. Something concerning Serena.

In a distance, they could make out earth, a blue pearl resting on velvety darkness.

On their routine patrol through nightly Tokyo, the Sailor Senshi saw 3 shooting stars, each of them making a wish on one of them. Little did they know, that the Starlights had just arrived, and that at least one of their wishes would come true soon.

"Noooooooo!"

A scream had woken Serena from her nightmare. Her own scream, as she had tried to rid herself of the man in her dream. No one seemed to have heard it. Slowly, the dream came back to Serena.

She was at Darien's apartment, wearing only her underwear, how Darien had told her to, sitting at the kitchen table, drinking a soda. Waiting. She had been waiting for Darien to return. Return from what, she wonderd. Then she heard the door open. Darien was back. In her dream, she had flinched, when she heared Darien's voice and that of another man. Hopefully, they wouldn't come into the kitchen. She couldn't show herself like that! The men were arguing. Serena tried to understand what they said. She caught a few words, but they were not enough to explain what the arguing was about. Then she heard Darien saying that he wanted the man to pay in advance, but the man didn't want to. Briefly, Serena wonderd what the man should pay for. Finally, they seemed to agree on a compromise. Serena waited. The man must be leaving now, she thought. But then the kitchen door opend, and in came Darien and a small man, who had a face like a rat. Serena shrieked and tried to cover herself as good as possible, blushing furiously. But the ratty man only grinned. Darien had the same grin. It was a grin she had never seen before on his face: cold, threatening, greedy and lustful. He scared her.

The small man looked at Darien, and he nodded. The stranger licked his lips and slowly came towards Serena. He grabbed the hand that was covering her brassier, and yanked it painfully to the side. Serena whinced in pain, confusion written in her face. Darien turned to leave, not even looking at her. And the man, the ratty man took her. Right there in Darien's kitchen. She screamed until her throat hurt, cried and begged Darien to help her. But nothing happend. No one came to help her. From the living room, the sound of the tv could be heared.

Serena broke into unheared tears. She had dreamed of the first time Darien had sold her. She rememberd every detail of that day now. How Darien had called her in the morning, inviting her for some "fun", how she had came and he asked her to undress. How later, after that man had left, Darien was kneeling next to her, as she was sobbing on the kitchen floor, stroking her hair, calming her down, whispering sweet words into her ear. How he had made love to her afterwards. Sweet, soft and tender love. How he had honey-tongued her into trusting him again. He had claimed to need her help. And that the only way she could help him was, if she allowed other men to have her how he had her. At first, she was unsure, then she refused, reminding him of the pain he and that ratty man had caused her. It was then that he raised his hand and slapped her, hard. He had beaten her and yelled at her until she did as he told her, until her resistance was broken.

Yaten, Taiki and Seiya left another apartment. They had been searching a place to live all day now. But none of the apartments they had been shown so far suited their wishes. There was only one left for today, though. Maybe they would be lucky this time.

The Senshi all had their own lifes now, although they were living in a rather large house together. Each of them had her own room, and then there were a living room, a dining room, a bathroom, a shower, a kitchen , a library (to Amy's delight) and they even had a pool! To Serena, it seemed a very luxurious place to live at; in the beginning, she felt like a visitor in this house. But then, she began to like it. The garden had become her hideout when ever she felt she had to be alone or was scared. Like now. Well hidden between two large rose bushes, Serena sat on the ground, a pink book on her lap. She wasn't writing anything at all, though. She just stared at the book and the tears that fell on the paper. <Like little diamonds. Or raindrops,> she thought miserably. She heard someone walking around in the garden, and she held her breathe. But when her name was called out, she knew she was safe. It was just Amy. "Serena?", she called loudly. "Serena! It's me, Amy, are you somewhere here?"

<This time I will tell them, this time I will tell someone. I have to!> Serena thought and carefully began to move, trying to get out of her sitting position, but found she couldn't move her legs. They felt a little numb. The blonde woman wiggled her toes, knowing that after a while, the feeling in her legs would return. "Serena! Answer me!" Amy called pleadingly. Serena was about to answer when she heard Amy say:" I am sorry, Darien. I don't think she's somewhere out here. Did you check her room?"

Serena froze. She didn't dare to breathe, she didn't dare to close her eyes. He replied something she couldn't make out from her hideout, and then Amy invited him to stay for dinner. Thankfully, he refused. But he asked to stay in the garden to look at Serena's precious flowers, of which she was so proud. Of course, Amy didn't deny his request, though Serena desperately wished, she would have.

From her secret spot, Serena could hear Amy walk away. Now, she was alone with him, her only relieve that he didn't know where she was. Darien walked around the garden, seemingly admiring her flowers. But as soon as the balcony door was closed and Amy out of earshot, he began to speak.

"I know you are somewhere here, Serena. Somewhere hiding in your precious flowers. Maybe I should just rip them all out to find you. But you're barely worth the effort. By the way, it wasn't very nice of you to run away like that, honey. It really hurt me. It really hurt my guest, too. He was very disappointed. He just wanted to play. He paid in advance, you know. And now, I have to pay him back. I will make you pay for that, love. Trust me, that I will," he said in a grim voice. She could hear him grin when he added:"After all, we are meant to be forever..." Then he left.

Serena sat behind her roses, not moving, only slowly breathing, careful not to make any sounds as she inhaled and exhaled. She sat like that, waiting. 1 minute. 2 minutes. 5 minutes. 10 minutes. After 15 minutes, she broke down, sobbing her heart out.

When had she gone from loving him to fearing him? When had he changed like that? When had her sweet, kind and caring Darien had turned into THAT person? Had he always been like that? And she just hadn't noticed? Didn't she love him enough? Did he love her back? No! No! He loved her, he always said so. Despite everything he did, he did love her! But what had happend and who's fault was it? Was it... was it her fault? Was it her fault that Darien had become like that?

These thoughts were racing through her head. Except the last one. Like a sudden realization it hit her with a force, that knocked all her emotional (and allready scatterd) barriers away. She could deal with everything, but not with this.

<My fault... my fault... it's all my fault!> she screamed inwardly.

The softly rumbling sky and dark clouds announced an oncoming rainstorm. As if in trance, Serena got up, went into the house, careful though not to be spotted by anyone. She left a note in the hall mirror, saying she was out for a walk, grabbed her raincoat and an umbrella and left. She ran down the streets, waiting for the rain. And when finally the storm broke lose, the storm in her, again, broke lose, too. Tears and raindrops ran down her face. When she remeberd her umbrella she found it was gone. It must have slipped out of her hand while running at one point. She didn't care. She didn't even see where she was going, in her mind always repeating:"My fault, it's my fault he became like that. Forever. We are destined to be together forever. Forever with ...with... HIM!"

Suddenly she bumped into someone. Arms wrapped around her, holding her close and someone called her "odango-head". She struggled, trying to get out of the person's grip, begging to be set free. A hand lifted her chin, forcing her to look at the person she had ran into. Her eyes shut tightly, Serena squirmed, not wanting to look at him. Not wanting to look into those cold eyes that once looked at her, lovingly, tenderly. She couldn't look at him. The man's grip got stronger, not letting her go anywhere. Finally, she surrenderd and opend her eyes to look at Darien.

But to her surprise, it wasn't Darien who was holding her. It was Seiya.

They sat at the kitchen table, infront of each of them a steaming cup of tea. In the center a plate with cookies, that no one dared to touch. They were shocked. Serena was staring at the floor, ashamed of herself, trying to fight her tears, but failing miserably. She had cried for 4 hours now; her eyes hurt, every single tear sliding down her cheeks hurt and burned. She felt as if she couldn't stop crying. Her mind numb, her face feeling terribly dry because of the masses of salty water that had streamed over it. She didn't dare to speak. She half wanted her friends to say something, half feared what they would say. When Taiki rested his hand on her shoulder, she looked up, fearfully. But he just smiled warmly at her.
"No matter what you think of yourself now, no matter what he tries to make you think, Serena, it's not your fault. Got that? It's not your fault he changed. It's not your fault he hit you. It's not your fault he..." Taiki swallowed hard. It was disgusting. Even to only think of the possibility that Darien COULD DO something like that to Serena made him sick. Yaten continued the sentence for him: " It's not your fault he sold you. It's not your fault that he treated you like that. It's not your fault he tried to make you his personal whore. It's not your fault and you certainly don't deserve it."

Serena flinched at the word "whore", afraid of her own memories, that the word brought back to her. The two continued to comfort Serena while Seiya was staring it his fists, growling. Right now, he felt as if he could singlehandedly take on 100 Galaxia's, 100 Chaos's... it didn't matter to him. <How dare you! How dare you hurt Serena! How dare you scare her like that, make her cry and steal her laughter! How dare you treat her like that! How dare you, Darien?> he thought in blind rage. Didn't Darien see what precious treasure he had? She loved him, after all he had done to her, after all the pain he caused her she still loved him. And she was sure, absolutely sure, that he still loved her back, though his actions towards her showed anything but love.

Serena tried to smile assuringly at them, as Yaten and Taiki asked wether she would be allright. "Oh yes.. you know me. I am a survivor. I know, love will not let me down. I have faith. He's my hero, you know. He was always there for me, saving me from the first day on that I became Sailor Moon. My prince... he was always there for me in the Silver Millennium. He loves me. I know he does," she replied, a few painful tears still sliding down her cheeks.

They walked her home, after she had stopped crying and refreshend her self a bit. She had learned how to use make up pretty good. If he hadn't known that she had cried her heart out for 4 hours, Seiya would have thought she was her normal, bubbly self. But she was wearing a mask. And it surprised him, how perfect it was. It would have fooled him. Silently, he blamed the others for not seeing through that mask. The Inner Senshi, that were supposed to be her friends. The Outer Senshi, that were supposed to be her protectors. And above all, Darien. Blaming Darien for forcing the girl to wear such a mask, to develop the ability to create a perfect mask, to not treat her the way he, Seiya, would, if she were his. As Serena opend the door, her cheerful voice rang through the house, but to Seiya, Yaten and Taiki it seemed like a shadow of her former self. "Hey girls! Look what I found! Three lonely boys that were missing their friends!"

A blonde head peeked out of the living room, turned left, then turned right, spotted the Threelights and let out a scream of joy. "What's going on out there?" came Lita's voice from the kitchen door, followed by herself , holding some silverware and a towel.

Soon, the hall was full with the noise of the girls greeting their spacetravelling friends, exchanging hugs over and over again, chatting and laughing until Raye remarked that it would be much more comfortable for all of them to sit down in the living room and continue their conversation there.

It was wonderful to see them again. Wonderful to talk and just enjoy yourself. For a while, the three men managed to forget the horrible things Serena had confessed to them, her tears and their anger. Then the telephone rang, and Lita, who was closest, answerd it. As she held the receiver out to Serena, saying:"It's for you, Serena. Darien" Seiya growled. He was about to snatch the receiver from Lita and yell at them, including Darien at the other end of the line, but Serena shoke her head, reminding him of his promise not to tell anyone.

Seiya sat up in his bed. He couldn't sleep. He couldn't forget how terrified Serena had been when she ran into him, thinking he was Darien. How she had cried her heart out, how ashamed she was. He turned on the light and went over to his desk. "Sometimes, I wake up in the middle of the night, crying because I dreamed of him" Serena's voice rang in his head. There had been a time, when her dreams of Darien had been wonderful and beautiful, making her happy when she woke up in the morning. "It's all my fault... it's my fault he has changed.." she had said.

"I am a survivor."

"I want to tell them, everytime I see them I try to, but I can't. Either he is around or..or.... or I just don't dare to."

"He's my hero. And he loves me."

"Forever... with him.... we are destined to be together."

"It has been like that in the past... unseperatable until death did us part."

"That's how it will be now, too. Together until death seperates us."

"He... didn't came to help me when that man took me."

"I don't dare to disobey. He hits me when I do."

"I love him."

"He said, if I really love him, I could prove it. He said, if I would let these men take me, he would know I really loved him."

"I have faith in love."

Those were her words. Seiya looked at his desk. A smooth, black pen layed there, resting on a scrapbook, which he would use for song lyrics. He sat down and flipped through the pages, absendmindedly. Then he took the pen and began to write.

He wrote all night on that song, putting his heart and soul in it. When Yaten came to call him for breakfast at 8 AM, the song was done, ready to be recorded. He just held it out to Yaten, with a grim expression on his face. His white haired friend read the lyrics, looked back at him, nodded and then yelled:"Taiki? Screw breakfast! We have to record a song!"

The Threelights Comeback Concert... and they had VIP-Cards! The Sailor Senshi shuffled into their seats, packed with popcorn, soft drinks, chocolate and other things. The Outers had joined them, too. Amara and Serena where so busy talking to each other, that when they sat down, Serena had Amara to her left and Lita to her right. Darien shot her an unnoticed icy glare. That was a clever tactic. She had done that nicely. Slightly annoyed, he sat down next to Michelle and talked to her, pretending to be actually looking forward to this concert.

Then the curtain rose. On the stage were three barchairs, each of them next to a microphone. Then the Threelights came onto the stage and the audience began to scream, whistle and cheer for several minutes. The band began to play. For one and a half hours, they played all the old songs, the fans loved so much. The Senshi had a good time. Even Serena was enjoying herself, having fun and singing along with the rest of her friends, just like she had been when they had first met her. Even from the stage, with all the lights and flashlights around them, the three singers saw Serena's eyes sparkle in joy.

After playing the song, that had contained the hidden message for their princess, Yaten silenced the audience.

"We would like to present you our new song now," he said, and Taiki added: "This song is very dear to us. Because it's nothing that we came up with, but something that is actually happening to a very good friend of ours. We promised, not to tell anyone. But... eventhough we want to keep that promise, we can't. We feel, we have to change something about her situation. We have to help her."

The audience cheered loudly. Serena had a feeling, she knew what was coming now. She felt, she was on the verge of tears again, shaking her head softly, mentally begging them not to give away her secret.

Then Seiya spoke.

"I want to tell a little story first. When we came to Tokyo, we passed by a girl on the airport. She didn't notice us, although fans where following us. Many recognized us, but not that girl. She was clinging to a man's arm, looking at him. The way she smiled at him, the way her eyes sparkled. I could tell she was deeply in love. Funny. What I rememberd best of her, was her hair. Blonde. And she wore these two, meatball like things on her head... she was cute. We attended the same school. I sat next to her. It was an incredible luck for me. The girl didn't only look extraordinary, she was, no she IS extraordinary. Something special. She ..." Seiya paused and blushed a little. "She kind of conquered my heart within seconds, without even having to try. But she was still in love with the man I had seen her with at the airport. Her boyfriend. He had gone off to America for a year to study, I think. I sensed my chance. I tried to get her, I really did. But she was true to her one and only love. When we returned to Tokyo a few weeks ago, she ran into me. She was crying."

Then, his tone of voice changed. It became stronger." I told you, when we left, Darien, to look out for her. I said "Take good care of her. Because if you don't I will come back and take her away from you." You promised me you would. Why did you break your promise?"

Unsure, the Senshi looked at Serena and Darien. Serena had her eyes shut tightly, silent tears running down her face. Darien on the other hand looked like he couldn't care less.

He shoke his head and then, Seiya began to sing.

"She screams out every night in a billion tears

In desperate fear that you're somewhere near

Faulting her actions for all that's occured

Wanting to tell all, never saying a word

Because she believes you're her hero

She wants to believe you still love her

But if you persist, she just might hurt you

So I suggest you refrain and don't ever touch me again...

Don't ever touch me again (Don't ever touch me again)

Don't ever touch me again (Don't ever touch me again)

Trying to regain a sense of reality

Only inches away from pure insanity

Releasing the anger, the hurt heartache and rage

No more feeling like an animal stalked, trapped and caged

Because she believes she's a survivor

She knows that she's on the right track

But just you remember she's a beginner

So I suggest you refrain and don't ever touch me again

Don't ever touch me again (Don't ever touch me again)

Don't ever touch me again (Don't ever touch me again)

Haunted by...

Haunted by...

Haunted by...

Haunted by, haunted by

Haunted by the ghost of the thing left to the past

In fear of the presence, the power it has

Realizing there's always a calm before the storm

But there's no one left to keep her from harm

Because she is unable to distinguish one from another

All she knows is she's not going to let it happen again

You should have left this one alone, but I bet you won't ever touch her again

Don't ever touch me again (Don't ever touch me again)

Don't ever touch me again (Don't ever touch me again)

Don't ever touch me again (Don't ever touch me again)

Don't ever touch me again (Don't ever touch me again)

Don't ever touch me again (Don't ever touch me again)

Don't ever touch me again (Don't ever touch me again)"

When they had ended, Darien got up. Michelle looked at him, amazed. But he just walked towards the exit, growling. On the stage, Yaten, Taiki and Seiya waved to him. "Bye Darien!" they yelled; but their fans thought different, throwing boohs, whistles and insults at him, while Serena had collapsed in her seat, crying uncontrollably.

The show was over, yet, the Senshi and Serena were still in the concert hall. The Senshi leader tried to speak, but all that came from her where sobs and gasps for air. So instead, the Starlights told their earthly collagues what ordeal Serena had gone through. Or what they knew of it. Luna looked up at Serena, unbelieving. How could something like that have happend to her princess without her noticing it? How could she have been so blind? Amara was cracking her knuckls, swearing she would beat Darien senseless, and looking very guilty whenever Serena broke into fresh tears upon hearing his name. Lita kept telling Amara she wouldn't even get a chance to lay hands on the asshole as she called Darien from then on, because herself would be faster. Raye denied that, saying that, by the way she looked, Amy was probably the first one to beat Darien into a bloody pulp. And it was true: pure anger and rage were written into the face of the usually very calm and well temperd water-senshi. Slowly, Serena's sobs died away. But still she wouldn't look at her friends, only stare at the ground. Then she whisperd:"Why did you have to do that? Why did you have to sing that song? Why did you have to tell everybody?" The Threelights looked at each other, a little guilty. Seiya sighed, kneeled down and said softly: "Because you wouldn't. Because he kept hurting you. Because you need to learn that no one, how matter how much you love them, has the right to hurt you like that. No matter how much they claim to love you, too. And because.... because I couldn't stand to see you like that, Serena."

"Why?" she asked. "Because I love you." Seiya replied and gently kissed her forehead. When Serena looked up, she was smiling a little.

"Thank you."
