DON’T LEAVE ME
By Sailor DKC

Princess Mako of Jupiter walked down the streets of a city on Earth
under the guise of an Earth girl named Lita. Carrying a pair of ice
skates in one hand, she headed toward a popular ice rink which she
heard from Princess Serenity of the Moon Kingdom. The princess, who
went there in the guise of an Earth girl named Serena, claimed that
skating there was fun, and she met a nice young Earth man named
Darien. Lita loved to skate and decided to go there. As she rounded a
corner, she bumped into someone who was in a rush. Falling on her
bottom, she dropped her skates. “Oh, excuse me!” said a deep voice.
Looking up, Lita gasped. Standing before her was a tall handsome man
with long curly hair going past his shoulders. Holding his hand out
to her, he bent down slightly, and she grasped his hand.

As she pulled herself up, he helped her by placing an arm around her
waist and guiding her up. “Forgive me, miss,” he explained. “There
has been some incidents happening in this city, and I’m trying to
find the source.”
The first thing Lita thought was, ‘He’s taller than me!’ She had a
few dates with some guys who were almost as tall as she was. She
didn’t mind, but she always wondered what it would be like to have a
tall guy look down in her eyes. Now she knew. ‘Plus he’s so
gorgeous!’ Then she recalled what he said before. “What do you
mean?” she asked, concerned.

Stepping back, the man stood straight and said, “There is no need to
worry, miss. It is our duty as Guardians of the Earth to protect the
Prince and his people.”
Now Lita took a good look at him, head to toe. Inhaling sharply, she
recognized the dark gray uniform. He is indeed a Guardian and a
bodyguard for Prince Endymion of Earth! “You are…” she began.
“General Nephrite, “ he finished, bowing to her, quickly. “I must go
now and find the source. So don’t worry, miss! Everything will be
fine!” And with that, he took off, going past her. Watching him
disappear from her view, Lita laughed quietly as she bent to pick up
her skates. “Boy, these Guardians take their positions seriously as
well as the Sailor Senshi.”

Arriving at the ice rink, she went to the locker room to put away her
belongings and put on her skates. Shrugging off her jacket, she
admired her green skating dress in a display mirror. ‘Who knows?’ she
thought as she checked her hair and makeup. ‘I might meet a nice guy
like the princess did. For now, I’m just going to have fun!’ Walking
over to the boarding platform where the ice started, she took in the
spectacular view of the rink. It was indeed lovely with its lovely
outdoor background of trees which were nearly losing their leaves.
The short barrier walls of the rink were all painted with an icy blue
color with silver snowflakes of different kinds. Surrounding the
walls were a few poles with loudspeakers on top, playing an
enchanting piece of classical music.

Taking a deep breath, Lita stepped forth onto the ice and proceeded
to glide along with the other skaters. She skated here and there, did
some quick spins, lovely twirls, and a big leap when no one was in
the way. As she glided around, she noticed a few couples skating
together. It was an adorable sight, and she sighed wistfully. ‘It
would be so nice to skate with a boyfriend,’ she thought. Beginning
to daydream, she envisioned herself skating with the tall General
Nephrite. His right hand holding her right hand while his left hand
rests around her left hip and her left hand resting on his left. They
skated in synchronized unison as they stared into each other’s eyes.
Then he would take both her hands to face her, and they would spin in
one circle, looking and laughing at each other. Then, letting go of
one pair of hands, they would skate in synchronized rhythm around the
rink. Then Nephrite would pull her gently toward him as they slowed
down to a complete stop in the middle of the rink. Tilting her chin,
he bent his head down to her. Closing her eyes, Lita awaited for his
lips to touch hers…

“AAAHHH!”

Lita snapped out of her daydream in response to someone shrieking. As
she spun around, she saw people pointing beyond the barrier walls.
There, crashing through some of the leafless trees, was a huge
creature. It was part dog and part demon, black with fiery red eyes
and huge fangs. It had a long, spiky tail which slashed this way and
that. It leaped over the wall, roaring, and landed on the ice,
creating large cracks. Skaters were scattered from the impact,
screaming, while some scrambled to get away from the monster. Lita
quickly darted the opposite direction in where everyone ran. Skating
to the wall, she made a giant leap to the other side. When she made
sure that no one saw her, she took out her transformation wand.

The creature leaped here and there, blocking most of the skaters’
attempts to escape. It managed to corner some people in one part of
the rink. As it approached them, growling, it spread its claws and
prepared to spring. The skaters screamed in terror as the beast
leaped at them!

“SPHERES OF FIRE! CHARGE!”

Repeated short bursts of fire rammed into the creature’s side. They
managed to hold it at bay while the skaters managed to get away.
“Come on! Go! Go! Get out of here!” shouted General Jadeite as he
continued to pummel the creature with his fire spheres. As soon as
the people were in the clear, he stopped and leaped out of the way,
just as a spiked tail flung in his direction. He landed at one side
of the beast which struck out its clawed paw to hit him. It met with
a clang against a sword held by General Nephrite. The dog demon and
the Guardian pushed against each other, then sprang apart from each
other. Jadeite also leaped away and then turned to create another
fire sphere when he faced a spiked tail aiming right at him! The
creature was focusing on Nephrite that it didn’t notice Jadeite
behind him. It swung its tail and knocked him away, slamming him into
the barrier wall. He collapsed on the ice and passed out.
“Jadeite!” Nephrite leaped up onto the beast’s back and raised his
sword up.

“STAR SWORD! STRIKE!”

Plunging his sword into the beast’s back, Nephrite held on for dear
life as the creature bucked up and down, roaring in pain, as blue
energy in the form of stars sparkled and crackled from the sword into
the cut. Slamming into the wall on its side, it succeeded throwing
the general off, but the sword remained punctured in its back. As
Nephrite got up, he met with a huge paw which rammed into him.
Landing and sliding across the ice on his back, Nephrite let out a
grunting shout as he held onto his bleeding side through his now torn
uniform jacket. The creature, still roaring in pain, struggled and
crawled to the fallen Guardian. Raising its paw, it prepared to give
a final fatal blow. Staring at it in defiance, Nephrite prepared to
die. The paw swung down.

“SUPREME…THUNDER!”

Bolts of lightning shot and crackled at the sword in the creature,
following its path into the open wound. Fiercely shrieking, the
monster bounced and jiggled all over until, finally, it turned into
millions of molecules and disappeared. Nephrite’s sword clattered
onto the ice. Dazed from losing blood, Nephrite saw a figure quickly
approaching him. His vision became blurry, and he knew he was losing
consciousness.
“Are you all right?” a female voice said. Looking up, he could barely
make out the blurred vision of a female form.
“Jadeite?” he groaned, weakly. “Is he-?”
The female looked in the direction of his fallen comrade. “He’s
moving which means he’ll be awake soon. So I guess he’s all right,”
the female replied. “What about you? Oh, no! You’re hurt!”

Grabbing his torn jacket, the female carefully tore a remnant off and
pressed it against his wound. “Keep pressure here,” she said, taking
his hands and putting them on the remnant piece. “It’ll help stop the
bleeding.”
Trying to clear his vision, Nephrite focused on seeing who is helping
him. But darkness fell over his eyes, and he felt himself passing
out. As his head lay back down on the ice, he heard the female gently
saying, “It’s OK now. You’ll be all right.” Feeling her caressing
his left cheek, he sighed in content and closed his eyes.

Sailor Jupiter gazed upon the handsome general, lying before her.
‘What a hunk!’ she thought, forgetting herself, as she smoothed the
left side of his face with her gloved hand. ‘He’s so beautiful.’
Looking at his covered wound, she bit her lip in agony and pity. ‘You
are so brave, too, risking your life to save the other skaters and
your fellow Guardian. Just like us Sailor Senshi.’ As she caressed
his cheek again, she heard him moan as if he were ready to pass out.
The way his lips move in the form of an O hypnotized her. They looked
so strong yet she wondered if they were gentle. Lost in her thoughts,
she bent down over him.

* Cupping his cheek with her left hand, Jupiter placed her lips on
Nephrite’s lips and kissed him. *

After a long moment, she slowly released him and widened her eyes in
shock as she sat up. Putting her hand to her lips, she whispered, “Oh
my, what did I just do?” Suddenly she whipped her head toward the
sound of Jadeite groaning as he was getting up. He was on all fours,
but his head was still lowered. When he did look up, he expected to
see the creature, but instead he saw his wounded comrade, lying on
the ice. His sword was just a few feet away from him.
“Nephrite!” he called out as he got to his feet. Stumbling over to
his friend, he flinched as he saw the remnant piece on Nephrite’s
wound beginning to stain with blood. At that moment, General Zoisite
and General Kunzite arrived at the rink. Seeing them, Jadeite yelled,
“Quick! We have to get him medical attention right away!”

A crowd of onlookers was forming since Jadeite got up. A girl burst
free from the crowd and skated onto the ice. “Naru!” called out he
partner, a young man with glasses. “What are you doing?”
Naru slid over to Nephrite and knelt down beside him. Unbeknownst to
everyone, she saw the whole scene of Sailor Jupiter defeating the
creature, kissing the Guardian, spiriting away over the barrier wall
and disappearing into the forest. Now Naru wanted to make sure the
Guardian is all right. An ambulance arrived, and as the other
generals prepared to lift their friend to an oncoming stretcher,
Nephrite groaned in pain, clutching his side. On impulse, Naru gasped
and placed her hand on his only to have it quickly grabbed by his
other hand. “Don’t leave me,” Nephrite hoarsely whispered and passed
out.
“Uh,uh…” she stuttered as she stared at his grip. “Well,I,I…”

“Please, miss,” Zoisite said, as he removed her hands from his
wounded friend. “We have to take him to the hospital now.” The
Guardians lifted their comrade and placed him on the stretcher. As he
was carried away, Kunzite announced, “Is there anyone who was a
witness to what happened here?”
Naru was about to answer, but found herself pausing. A flashback of
Nephrite grabbing her hand and telling her not to leave him kept her
from saying more. Kunzite sighed and continued, “Then please let us
know anything in the future so we can get to the bottom of these
attacks in our kingdom!” With that, he climbed into the ambulance
with Nephrite along with the other two generals.
As the vehicle sped off, sounding its siren, the man with glasses
slid up to Naru. “Naru, you look as if you’re going to say something.
Did you see something?
Dazed, she looked at her skating partner and shrugged. “Uh, no,
Umino, not really.”
“Then what was the deal going up to the injured general? His comrades
were there helping him.”
“Well, I’ve admired General Nephrite from afar,” Naru sighed,
clasping her hands under her chin, stars in her eyes. “I just wanted
to make sure he’s all right for myself.”
“I see.” Umino frowned worriedly, recalling the hand-grabbing scene.
‘It seems more than an admiration,’ he thought. “Come on,” he
offered, taking her hand. “I’ll take you home.”
“Mm-hmm,” Naru agreed, distractedly as they left the damaged ice
rink.

Lita managed to blend in with the crowd when the generals were
helping put Neprhite in the ambulance. “I hope he’s all right,” she
said to herself as the ambulance drove off. She returned to her
locker to gather her things. As she put on her jacket, she recalled
the kiss she gave him. Leaning her head against the open locker door,
she whispered, “I can’t believe I did that! What was I thinking?”
Closing the door, she turned and leaned back on it. “He was hurt yet
I couldn’t help myself to kissing him.” Closing her eyes, she
thought, ‘I hope he doesn’t think I’m a horrible person.’

On the contrary, Nephrite was thinking of someone special. As he lay
there on the hospital bed, he stared up into the ceiling, trying to
revisualize the female form who saved him. He remembered seeing a
tall woman, her outfit consisted of a short skirt with the colors of
green and pink. However, he could not remember her face for she was
far away. But he remembered the kiss. Although his eyes were closed
at the time, he was still conscious. He remembered lying there on the
ice, moaning in pain. Then there was a feel of a gloved hand
caressing his face. Then soft, gentle lips were pressed against his.
Pain was forgotten, and a warmth filled him from his lips to head to
toe. He didn’t want it to stop. Suddenly, it was over. She left him.
Darkness swirled all over him, but he still didn’t passed out. He
felt himself being lifted, and the pain returned. He pressed his hand
to his side and felt another hand on his. Instinctively, he grabbed
it with his other hand, uttering hoarsely, “Don’t leave me!” He
wanted those lips again, but he finally blacked out.

Now, on the hospital bed, Nephrite thought to himself, ‘Someone
helped me. It was a girl. I know it. I must find her.’
As he closed his eyes to rest and sleep, he recalled the kiss again.
‘And I will.’
