Sailor Moon Fan Fiction ❯ Forever ❯ Teasing ( Chapter 3 )
Teas< u>ing(Couldn't come up with anything better)
The high-strung and strangely strident mood continued throughout dinner that night. Even though Trunks and Makoto were placed right next to each other they hardly spoke a word to anyone and but spoke non-stop to each other. Makoto might have been able to pass off her odd behavior as normal, but for a generally silent and calm Trunks it was impossible. And his friends were quick to tease his about it that night. "I think Trunks found his own betrothed," Jade announced smugly as he sat on own of the many cushioned chairs in the Moon Palace, smiling broadly.
"I don't know what you talking about!" the lavender haired general, his bright red cheeks betraying his honesty however. "I think you're right," Z laughed in agreement, which caused Trunks to scowl.
"You guys, you shouldn't tease Trunks like this," Malachite insisted gruffly, though he himself was casting a smiling glance at their flustered comrade.
"But it's the truth," Jadeite insisted unmercifully. "It is not!" Trunks insisted persistently, plopping down and crossing his arms with a scowl. "We are merely old friends. Nothing more nothing less," he announced primly. "Then, explain hugging her," Mal suddenly insisted, silver-blue eyes twinkling. "You think she's cute, just admit it." Trunks bit his lip, then twiddled his fingers in a nervous manner and glanced away.
"I . . . I-I admit that her figure changed since the last time I saw her... " Trunks finally broke down, "Okay so what I think she's a total babe!"
"Was that so hard Trunks?" Endy questioned, happy, that they had finally got their flustered comrade to talk.
"And she ain't the only one," Jade added immediately with a grin, thinking of the seductive, raven-haired, violet eyed, Martian Princess. "Did you guys get a load of that Rei?" he breathed dreamily. Zoisite sighed at his friends he looked around the room. A shimmering light caught his eye. Curious he walked over and looked out the window like thing. He gasped at what he saw catching the others attention greatly. "Hey Z what are you lookin at?" Jadeite called getting no response from him he frowned and walked over. He looked over his shoulder and smirked his eyes widening, twinkling with naughtiness. Jadeite turned an excited grin on his face, "It's the Princesses man!" he said, which caused the other to look in. "I bet you guys were former lovers," Minerva announced smugly as she sat on the cushion of pillows in one of the Moon Palace's many sitting rooms, smiling broadly. "We were not!" the tall Jovian Princess insisted forcefully, her bright red cheeks betraying her sincerity however. "I think you're right," Rei laughed in agreement as if Makoto hadn't spoken, diving down onto the pillows on her stomach without a qualm. "You guys, you shouldn't tease Makoto like this," Ami insisted gently, though she herself was casting a smiling glance at their flustered friend. "It's not nice. "But it's true," Minako insisted unmercifully. "No it's not!" Makoto insisted stubbornly, plopping down and crossing her arms with a scowl. "The last time I saw him was when I was six for the love of god," she announced primly, her nose in the air. "I kind of liked Malachite myself," Minako replied, to their surprise. "But he looks so serious," Makoto protested. "Yeah, I just can't see you guys as a couple," Rei seconded, frowning faintly. "You're way too bubbly for a guy like him." "Well I think we'd make a perfect couple," Minako inserted stubbornly, her chin setting. "You know what they say, opposites retract." "Opposite's attract," Ami, corrected gently. "Whatever," Minako answered with an airy shrug of her shoulders. Then she turned to Ami grin returning. "So which one did you like, Ami?" Even Serenity turned curiously to see how the shy girl would respond. She blushed and shrugged. "I-I didn't particularly care for any of them." "Liar!" Rei accused, laughing. "Yeah, I saw you sneaking glances at Zoisite when you thought no one was looking, Ami, don't try and deny it!" Ami's blush deepened at Minako's grinning accusations. "I'm sure you're mistaken," she mumbled uselessly. "What about you Rei?" Makoto asked, turning to the raven-haired beauty, who scowled. "I don't have time to go around sighing and fawning over a bunch of dim-wit blockheads," she insisted hotly. "Especially not that jerk Jadeite. Did you guys hear him today in the throne room?! Whistling at me like I was a common whore!" "I'm sure he didn't mean it like that," Ami tried to soothe softly, as they all remembered the dazed and bowled over expression on the man in question when he'd done the offending deed.
Rei just snorted and crossed her arms, a disbelieving look on her face. Just then the door opened and Luna slipped inside. "Hello girls," she greeted pleasantly. "I just came to make certain you knew that there will be a formal ball to celebrate Prince Endymion's arrival tomorrow night. So make certain you all have proper escorts." This announcement was met with excited outcries of happiness and joyous giggles. "I also came to tell you to wear your formal attire." That was met with loud groans of protest. "Come on, Luna!" Makoto complained loudly, scowling. "I hate those dresses," Rei grumbled soon after. "They are a little old-fashioned," Ami agreed tentatively. "Yeah, talk about out-to-date," Minako, cried. "Out of date," Ami corrected gently. "Whatever," the Venutian princess muttered. "They're still ugly, whatever you call them." Luna shook her head, "You didn't let me finish girls. You are allowed to wear the dress of your choice at the ball" Loud cries of joy were heard as the girls jumped into the air. Luna turned away, and then swung back with a mischievous glitter in her brown eyes. "By the way, one of the sentries reported a group of five young girls hiding in the bushes by the front gate, sneaking secretive glances at the Prince and his Generals when they arrived this morning. You girls wouldn't happen to know anything about that . . . would you?" Five solemnly innocent, wide-eyed seventeen year olds shook their heads in denial, halos practically gleaming over-head. Luna smiled, in an all-knowing kind of way. "I thought not. Well, goodnight girls. Get plenty of rest for tomorrow night." As soon as the door closed Serenity whirled on the rest of them. "See!" she screeched. "I told you we'd get caught!" Minako rolled her eyes, "Come on Sere you gotta chill…plus it was your idea." Minako blamed causing their pig-tailed Princess to fume. "Ya you just insisted on seeing you dear Endy" Rei said batting her eyelashes. "Hey, you're my protectors you are supposed to guide me down the right path" Serenity defended now pointing an accusing finger at everyone. She turned around

The next morning saw Endymion out in the large training court area, watching and participating in his four Generals' daily exercise routines, done to keep themselves in deadly shape. He currently stood back with Malachite and Trunks, watching as Jadeite and Zoisite traded swords. Endymion simply admired the fine skill being displayed while Mal, on the other hand, watched them with a critical eye, ready to point out any weakness or flaw in their performance.
There was none, of coarse. They could all probably perform sword drills with each other with their eyes closed, they'd been doing them for so long.
"You've heard about the ball being thrown in your honor tonight, no doubt," Trunks suddenly commented, from where he sat toweling himself off, sweat beading his face and neck from his vigorous workout with Endy earlier, despite the cool, early morning air.
Endymion nodded to his question, but remained silent. He began absently swinging the great sword in his hand back and forth, chopping the tops off of the blades of grass near his feet. Jadeite and Zoisite had finished their exercises and approached, their breathing somewhat labored. "Perhaps you will be asked to Escort your Intended," Trunks continued while Malachite murmured some improvements that needed to be done to Jade and Z's techniques. Endymion smiled at Trunks's comment. "No doubt," was his muttering answer. "Well speak of the devil," Jadeite suddenly murmured, grinning. Endymion shot him a questioning glance and the blonde indicated the balcony in front of and above them with the tip of his blade. Endymion turned and saw the girl in question standing at the rail, watching them it seemed, two of her companions on either side the Venutian Princess and the slate-haired Princess of Mercury. The latter read absently from a book in her hands while the other blonde leaned close to Serenity, whispering something conspiratorially into her ear while grinning playfully. This caused the Moon Princess to smirk slightly in response. And then the tall Princess of Jupiter strode out through the doors and onto the green, dressed in her gown. The girl strode confidently toward the open mat, not casting a glance in their direction. Trunks whistled low, a smile on his face.
"Now are those not the finest pair of legs that you have ever seen in your life," he mumbled, entranced.
"Oh, what happened to Mr. We're only friends nothing more?" came Jadeite's annoying question. "How about Did you see that hot Princess Rei!" Trunks mocked receiving a fierce glare from Jade. While Makoto was off-handedly oblivious to their presence, Rei was offensively so, with a snobbish air to her as she stalked off toward the padded dummy in the corner.
Endymion just shook his head, then muttered,
"I think you two are hard up for a woman." That won him offended glares from Trunksand Jade and a snicker from Z. "In their defense," Zoisite murmured, casting a glance back over his shoulder and gazing for a moment on the slight, blue-haired Princess of Mercury, who didn't notice because her nose was still planted firmly in her book. "They do seem to have an exceptional sort of charm about them." Again, Endy snorted in disbelief. "What about you Mal?" Jade questioned, elbowing their stern leader in the ribs and quirking his eyebrow. "Has any Princess caught your eye?" Malachite cast one look toward Jadeite, and the frostiness in his expression doused Jadeite's good humor in one swift blow. "I haven't had the time to notice any women, certainly not any of higher rank and station than myself, since I've been too focused on my duties. And neither would any of you," Malachite continued to lecture sternly, "If you had been doing the same." With that Malachite bowed toward Endymion, then turned on his heel and strode away.
"Nag, nag, nag," Jadeite sneered, though soft enough so Malachite wouldn't overhear. He crossed his arms with a jerk. "He's as bad as my mother."
That produced several snickers, and even Endymion couldn't hold back a smile. That smile broadened as he watched the blonde Princess of the Moon, having removed herself from Minako's side, dash towards him a happy grin painting her features.
