Hey minna! Yes I have begun yet another epic... And this one is
actually of epic length! Thirty-two parts... And its a good assumption
that all of them are going to be fairly long. I have the entire fic
mapped out and I doubt anything will change.

I am expecting this fic to get me flamed... A lot. It started out with
the original concept of a "What if?" fic which has now grown into
something I don't think anyone would have expected... This is my first
completely anime based fic and it is also probably the only one that
doesn't have any senshi/general nuances. The entire thing isn't flame
worthy (I don't think) but the overall result sure as heck better be!

Anyway, enough of this. This one is hopefully going to focus on each
of the senshi equally... But Minako is going to get a generous amount
of the spotlight. As are Usagi and Mamoru, obviously... I will try and
portray the others more than I usually do and I hope to live up to
their concepts, and I am almost sure I will succeed.

Enough of that. Sailor Moon isn't mine, and if you don't believe me,
there is something seriously wrong with you... I will always be crazier
mind you, but that's beside the point...

Read on annoyed one...

~********************************************************** ***********~

Sailor Moon hovered over Mamoru's prone body worriedly, the other
senshi hovering around her with equal amounts of emotion, still unsure
of what they should do... Ann and Ail had just departed with the seed
of the Makaiju to build a new life with one another, but the blonde had
paid them no heed. She was far too worried about Mamoru. Tsukikage
no Knight had entered him some time ago, and he was still not
awakening.

Finally, Sailor Mars, her raven locks hanging limp and dull about her
and her fuku tattered and torn to where there was less of it than there
had ever been, spoke, "Usagi... It might have been too late..."

Sailor Mercury shook her head from Mamoru's other side, her blue eyes
which once shone with intelligence muted to a dull glow, "He has a
pulse Mars... He just... won't wake up. I don't understand it myself."

Sailor Jupiter took her chestnut hair out of its confines and shook it
loose. The curls and ringlets were clumped together with sweat and a
bit a of dried blood, but the senshi dully noted that the Amazon had
never looked more feminine. She raked her hand through her now free
locks and asked, "Is he going to be all right?"

Sailor Venus sighed, the gold light that seemed to shine about her 24/7
now stifled by the hard battle and her leader's disposition, "Why don't
you all just say it?" she shouted, turning towards the cats and crying,
"Is he going to remember?"

Artemis and Luna exchanged a weak glance. The two's wobbling and
misplaced steps were ignored and overlooked as they struggled to
recover from the blasts they had taken. Luna's arm still stung from
the Makaiju's acidic juice and Artemis looked as though he were dead on
his paws. They both sighed and in the very same breath said, "We don't
know..."

Sailor Moon stifled a sob, sending Mars directly to her side to try and
offer comfort. Sailor Venus and Jupiter exchanged a weary and
downtrodden glance, then they resumed staring at their prince and
princess with crestfallen expressions. Sailor Mercury did nothing more
than stare blankly at Mamoru's expressionless face, wishing that he
would open his eyes.

Sailor Moon shook her head violently and moaned, "No... He has to
remember! If Tsukikage no Knight returned to him, he has to remember
me! Remember us! I can't bear to lose him again, I can't!" the girl
continued protesting as Sailor mars wrapped her arms around her friend,
for once showing her compassion instead of reprimand for her constant
tears.

"Usagi-chan..." Luna whispered. The black cat looked as though she
yearned to say more, but held her tongue. Artemis moved over and
rubbed his cheek against hers affectionately, as if he was promising
everything was going to be okay. She looked like she almost believed
him.

Sailor Mars bit her lip and whispered, "It'll be okay Sailor Moon... If
he doesn't remember, we'll just make him that's all..."

Sailor Moon sobbed and whispered, "If it didn't work before, why should
it now? I can't go through that... Not again... Not again..."

"Sailor Moon..."

Sailor Jupiter saw Mars flailing and her violet eyes darting about
wildly for help, so the emerald clad girl stepped in, "She's right
Sailor Moon. You have to cheer up! We don't even know if Mamoru-san
remembers anything or not, and here you're acting like he's dead...
What if he woke up and saw you like this? You have got to... Smile or
something... Be the Usagi we all know and love!"

Sailor Mercury chided the two aggressive senshi on silently, stealing
glances up to Venus wondering why she wasn't joining in. The golden
senshi looked on with obvious pain in her eyes. She looked like she
wanted to help, but she didn't feel it was her place too. Mercury
continued to look the girl over, a bemused expression gracing her china
doll face, until Venus caught her staring at her, and the blue senshi
quickly looked down, her white features staining red.

Sailor Venus turned away from the heart breaking scene and walked over
to the edge of the building. She was fuming, and she couldn't help but
be angry. She couldn't understand how Usagi could want to be with
Mamoru so much after everything he had put her through! Granted that
he was brainwashed by Beryl and they had all forgotten, but he had
been a real jerk to her before according to the others. Then there was
the thing that only she knew... The thing Usagi was too ashamed of to
let them know...

The other three had once queried why Luna didn't bother to restore
Mamoru's memories. Luna had supplied that she had used up all of her
powers of that nature awakening the four senshi at once right after
Usagi, who had been difficult considering how painful her memories were
compared to the others...

But that was a lie.

Luna had tried to bring Mamoru's memories back... That very first
night. Sailor Moon, Luna, and Artemis had slipped into Mamoru's
apartment with a stealth Usagi could only posses in that form. Luna
had tried to awaken Mamoru's memories, for that could be done in every
state but death, but he had refused. His mind did not want to
remember. He was too cowardly to face up to both of his lives and
protect his love... If he loved her at all.

And that was what royally pissed Minako off.

Minako kicked a large hunk of debris like it were nothing but soccer
ball upwards and blasted it with a barrage of angry crescent beams.
She ignored Artemis' reprimand for her temper and the stares she earned
from the four huddled senshi. She didn't care what they thought of her
at this point.

Minako, still in Sailor Venus guise, but lacking the soldier's
composure at that point in time, peered over the edge, for lack of
anything better to do. Her light blue eyes widened and she promptly
cursed, running back to the group no sooner than she had left, "There
are cops and ambulances down there... And reporters... We have to go.
Now!"

Sailor Moon shrieked, "Venus, no! I can't leave him not knowing!"

"Well guess what Sailor Moon? You don't have a choice. Jupiter grab
her before she does anything stupid. Mars and Mercury, you accompany
those two to the shrine, and for heaven's sake Mars, do not let your
grandfather see you. I'll stay here and handle the media and such.
Don't worry Sailor Moon, if Mamoru wakes up, I'll be more than happy to
ask him if he remembers anything.

Jupiter had no choice but to obey the blonde and wrapped her arms
around Sailor Moon's waist, literally hoisting her over her shoulder.
The fearless leader now turned into a hysterical child as she flailed
about madly, craning her neck to say language drunken sea men would
flush at, directed at Venus. Jupiter groaned and flinched as the toe
of her leader's red boot came into contact with her midsection.
Mercury and Mars looked at Venus, wondering what the girl was thinking,
if at all. Venus turned on her heel and stalked over to Mamoru as the
press and EMS teams began running up the stairs. Artemis was about to
go after her, but Luna grabbed him by the scruff and hauled him off,
leaving Venus alone with Mamoru.

The golden senshi of love stared at the fallen man with contempt and
revile she usually reserved for the likes of Queen Beryl or Metallia or
whatever other evil thing they may have to face. As if on cue the
young man began to stir and opened his eyes to stare into the angry
blue depths of the leader of his princess' guard, "Usagi... Where is
she?"

Venus sighed at the lack of endearing suffix, but felt a little better
at his concern, "The other senshi took her somewhere safe... She'll be
fine. The aliens are gone... She told me to thank you for protecting
her,"

Venus held her breath, knowing his response would determine if he
remembered them. If he remembered Serenity and all they had meant to
each other. If he remembered his love or not, 'Please Mamoru... she
can't live without you... Please...'

"Hey, what are friends for?"
