Prologue

As Chad walked by the fire room, on his way to the kitchen for a midnight snack, he noticed a long shadow on the floor and knew it was Rai. She had been staying up later than usual. He looked in and saw that she had not tied her hair back as she had promised him she would. He knew that she was in a trance and would not wake, so he took the string that he tied his sleeves up with and pulled her hair back for her. Chad proceeded on his way to the kitchen.

The fire was alive and giving her visions, but not the ones she was asking for. Her visions were of the fabled Mount Olympus were the ancient gods of Rome and Greece lived. It kept focusing on the same 15 gods and goddess. Eirene, goddess of peace, Eunomia, goddess of discipline and good government, Dike, Goddess of justice, Enyo, the lesser goddess of war, Eros, god of love and desire, the Moirai, the fates, Boreas, god of the north wind, Amphitrite, goddess of the sea, Erebus, god of darkness, Hestia, goddess of the hearth and home, Athena, goddess of wisdom, and the two young cup bearers, Gantmede and Hebe, who was also the goddess of youth. The scene was of a great party for all the gods. Then some thing terrible happened. All the gods had a look of fright on there faces. There was a flash of light.

Rai was jolted back it to the here and now. She had been sensing someone watching the scouts lately and had asked the fire to show her who it was. All it would give her was the same thing. The visions of the god's party on Mount Olympus. As she recovered mentally from the push the fire had given her she untied her hair and went to the kitchen for some hot tea to clear her mind. She walked in to see Chad with his butt in the air and his head in the fridge looking for something to eat. "There's the pantry too you know."

Chad's head hit the top of the fridge with a thump. "Oh! Hiya, Rai." he said with a blush.

As she walked by him to the cabinet containing the tea she dumped the string from her hair in his hands. "Here, I think this is yours."

"Yeah. I thought that you promised to tie your hair back?"

"I did," She turned to start the hot water. "Guess I forgot." she stated with a sly smile.

Chat sighed. He knew he could not win against her. he turned in the small kitchen to the pantry for the bag of potato chips. "Hngy? Oo missed Dinner." He stated with a full mouth.

"Hummm, yeah I did , thanks." With a mug of hot tea in one hand she grabbed the bag with the other on her way out. Little did she know that she was being watched at that very moment. Not only by the young man at her back with the puppy dog eyes but by another pair of eyes that were not an acquaintance.

As Rai reached her room her senses came back and she felt another presence. she couldn't tell if it was human or other. No, this was definitely human but there was some thing different about it. It was old like the fire's visions, but young at the same time. Both powerful and wise. By the time she put the chips and mug down on the table and opened her door it was gone. In it's place was Luna.

"Sorry, Serena locked me out again." Luna said with an embarrassed kitty smile.

"It's ok , Luna. Come on in." With one final look around Rai closed her door and sat to finish her tea and chips.
