Chapter 18 - Finding Destiny
By Angel Love
Author's Notes: This chapter designed to fill in the huge gap of what occurred in the last chapter and Finding Destiny. This covers the basics of what FD did, just in a different point of view. If you have read that story, which you most likely have then you already know what has occurred here.
Warnings: Death.

Rose was never the same after that day. She had always been a serious person but after that she was even more so. She trained harder and she spent a lot less time just hanging out with anyone other than me. It had become very well known that she took attitude from no one, including Rosely. I missed her smile and hearing her laugh, because both were rare and felt like a present each time.
I wanted so much to tell her that she would see Allen again, but I knew that to do that would probably result in her never seeing him. Hades and Eros helped me deal with the guilt that I felt inside at lying to her; each reminding me that by remaining quiet, she would someday be happy again and she would understand and forgive me for what I had done. I only hoped that they were telling me the truth.
So the time passed as we searched for a new place for the senshi. Finally we found the right time but after a long discussion between us and searching the entire Earth we had decided that we should not release them as a whole group. Trista agreed that the idea would be too dangerous because they would be very vulnerable until the time came to reawaken their powers.
Trista snuck Allen into the timeline and released him to be reborn as the first son of a very wealthy, high bred family in Monaco. I knew his first name had stayed as Allen but I did not ask Trista for any more information because I did not want to have any more things to keep from Rose.
At the same time, Rose and I scouted for a place in North America that would be perfect for Sailors Uranus and Neptune. We finally decided to release them in the state known as New York. It seemed like the best place for them at the time. Amara was the first senshi to be reborn.
After much begging, Rose had finally agreed to go into the hospital where she had been born. We moved silently through the halls of the hospital and stopped outside the window of the nursery to see five babies there. We both knew right away which one was the senshi because even at a few hours old she gave off a shine to us. She had just a tuff of blonde hair and she was sleeping soundly while two others in the room with her were crying. The name at the bottom of her crib announced her as Amara Tenou, born January 7.
The twinkle was almost back in Rose's eyes as she gazed at Amara there before she sighed softly and nodded for me that it was time to go. We were going to keep watch over this young girl's life forever and I could tell that Rose felt a little better at having something finally to do except training and searching.
It was only three months later on March 6, which Sailor Neptune was born to wealthy parents and neighbors of Amara's parents. She was even beautiful as a child, alert and looking around her when we got to sneak into the hospital to see her. The name that was given to her was Michelle Kaiou. She was a bit smaller than Amara, but we knew that she was still going to grow up to be a strong woman and senshi. When we left quietly as some other new parents came to look at one of their babies, I noticed that the soft smile was still on Rose's face. It felt very good to know that she was finally happy about something.
It was a year later in Earth time that Sailor Mars had been born to a wealthy couple in Tokyo, Japan on April 17th. The father was in politics and her mother was the daughter of a priest for the Hikawa Shrine. I knew that through her mother and grandfather she would be able to hone in the natural aspects of her character and develop her sixth sense in a way that she had not been able to do when she was Princess Raye of Mars, but would now have that freedom as Raye Hino.
In Japan, two months later on June 30th, born two weeks late, the Moon Princess made her first appearance on Earth. Rose and I had actually been allowed to see that birth, both of us hiding in the shadows. However, we regretted wanting to see Serena Tsukino being born because she nearly damaged our ears with her first cries, obviously very unhappy that she had been taken out of the nice warm spot she had been inside her mother.
It was several months later in September in another part of Tokyo that we were visiting yet another hospital. This time the newest senshi to make her appearance on Earth was Amy Mizuno, otherwise known as Sailor Mercury. She was a quiet, very curious child, exploring her hands almost immediately as her mother, a doctor-in-training, and father, a young artist, beamed proudly down at her.
The next month found Rose laughing at me when I got excited and dragged her through the Gates into England. The reason why I was so excited was that Sailor Venus had been born on a quiet day on October 22. Her new name was Mina Aino. She was a beautiful child. Before we left, Trista joined us and smiled softly at the child before she stored the cat Artemis' capsule near where Mina would live when her parents grew up, so that he would awaken when she became old enough and he could help her in her quest to regain her powers.
The last senshi that was born that year was Sailor Jupiter in December. She also was born in Japan, not in the same area as the Moon Princess, Mercury and Mars, but I had no doubt that they would all eventually find each other. After all, they had all originally been born on different planets. I felt easier after we had left baby Lita Kino to grow up within her new world.
It was several years later that Rose and Trista felt that it was time to release Sailor Saturn. Hotaru Tomoe was born on a stormy January morning as the daughter of a very promising science professor. It was clear from the way he held her close that he adored the little girl and she would grow up to know his love.
We watched each of them grow up, sometimes with smiles on our faces and sometimes things happened to them that had tears on my face and a sad look on Rose's. Hotaru lost her mother, although her father tried to make up for the loss, he was becoming increasingly involved in his work. Amy's parents divorced and she buried herself into her school work to get away from the pain that she felt when she watched her father walk away that last time. Lita lost both of her parents, but I had to admit that I admired the way that she hid that she was completely alone and managed to live on her own.
Serena however amused us both. She was almost a complete opposite of the Princess she had been before. She was lazy, a little selfish and the way she ate had our mouths hanging open. It would seem that she must have had a part of her that wished to be normal and irresponsible instead of the one she had been when she was the Supreme Princess. However, there were still signs of the Princess within her. She was still kind and didn't have a bad bone within her.
Watching her relationship with the young prince of Earth, now known as Darien Shields was most amusing. It was obvious that they liked each other. Chesna felt the sparks between them when she and I watched an exchange between them from a bench eating ice cream. However when the Queen Beryl began to launch her attack on the Earth and Sailor Moon was revived Rose and I realized that we needed to give Darien and Serena a little nudge towards each other.
Of course we needed a little help, since neither of us is able to give visions, so we enlisted Chesna to feed visions into Darien's sleep of the Moon Princess asking him to find her. We had not anticipated that the reaction to these visions would turn him into Tuxedo Mask though. It was an interesting development that worked out rather well since Serena had a few problems becoming Sailor Moon and would often find herself in trouble.
We had actually not wanted to become a part of their lives but when things heated up and three of the senshi were kidnapped by Malachite and Zoicite, Rose and I informed Vega that we were going to Earth and helping out. We didn't want to watch our senshi die a second time at the hands of Beryl. Our existence had been a great shock to Serena and Darien, who had just discovered their true identities and their pasts, but they took it rather well.
I liked Serena instantly. She was beautiful inside and out. She had such light shining within her, even through the pain that she was going through knowing that her friends were in trouble. I knew she felt responsible for it but I also had faith within me that she would be able to save them, at the same time save the generals and restore their memories to them at the same time with the help of her beloved Prince Endymion.
Amy had amused me and I could have hugged the life out of her when she got Rose laughing at all of the questions that she asked about us, our powers and things that happened through time. Her inquisitiveness reminded me a little of Chesna, who always had endless questions and mysteries to solve.
Entering the Negaverse however had not been something I had anticipated. I was used to dark and dank having visited Hades often but this place smelled like thousands of bodies had died and had been left there to rot for a few years. There were rats and mice everywhere. Don't get me wrong, I like animals but it gave me the creeps to be walking around with my tiny little shorts on with these little critters running around our feet.
What was also bothering me was the feeling of dread that I could feel from Rose. She had gotten a shudder up her spine and whispered something as soon as we had walked into the Negaverse. However when I asked her about what she had felt she had lied to me and told me nothing. I had only hoped that whatever she had felt wasn't some sort of premonition of what was going to happen.
We began our search for the three kidnapped senshi, agreeing not to separate if we could not help it since none of us knew our way around the desolate place we were in. Our only source of information was Sailor Mercury and her computer, leading us through the labyrinth of decaying walls. What we found odd though, and Sailor Moon even made a comment on it, was that no one had come to stop us from searching for the Sailor Scouts even though we had known that it was a trap.
We found Sailor Mars alone behind a sealed wall that had taken my fire to put a hole big enough for us to fit through. She had been bound and gagged, sitting on the cold floor. Tuxedo Mask untied her as Sailor Moon, Mercury and Mars shared a joyful, but tearful reunion. Sailor Moon had then changed into Princess Serenity, much to the surprise of Mars, and then restored the Fire scout's memories of her past.
Mars had been very upset about learning who Jadeite really was but she was glad to hear that we knew he was not dead. It was obvious that she did not want to trust us but she knew she did not have much choice since we still had two more scouts to find. Mercury at this point was also having a hard time. She had her memories back but she also knew that her love was one of the reasons they were there and that he was indeed still under the nega-influence.
We continued on, moving deeper and deeper into the heart of the Negaverse until we found Sailor Jupiter literally hanging from the ceiling. Tuxedo Mask used one of his roses to get her down and caught her before she could hit the ground. She was very ready to continue on the quest to find Sailor Venus but before we could do that Princess Serenity revived her memories as well.
Jupiter had taken her memories rather well; in fact they seemed to answer a few questions for her. However, she seemed even less willing to trust us than Mars had, but she put up with our presence because she knew Sailor Moon wanted us there. She was even more into getting Venus back, but all of us were a little apprehensive because we knew we were being led even further into the center of the Negaverse.
It was still very odd to us that we had not encountered any enemy of any type, unless you counted the smell of the place and the increasing number of rats that were freaking out the Moon Princess a little. However, suddenly Sailor Destiny had called us to a halt when her staff flared brightly in response to the energy she could pick up from one or more of the Generals. Mercury could not tell who it was so we had no way of knowing if we were about to walk into a trap. We knew though that it was not likely to be Malachite or Zoicite, since they were probably with Venus, who was still a ways off.
I used my fire once more to burn a hole in the wall that Destiny told me that they were behind, hoping that we were not a mistake. I could tell though that whoever put the wall there did not want us going through it because I had encountered a small magical barrier that gave away with a little bit more pressure from me. When we walked inside we discovered Jadeite and Nephlite trapped in what looked like to be crystalline coffins, which upset both Sailor Jupiter and Mars a bit as they ran over to the coffins, stopping just in front of them, staring at them in shock.
Mars hesitated but reached out and gently traced Jadeite's face, which had a look of horror etched into it. It did not take her very long to jump to the conclusion that they were dead and accused Destiny and I of lying about their state. However we did not need to defend ourselves because Mercury had been running a scan on them from the moment we discovered them and assured her friend that they were not dead but stuck in a state of suspended animation.
While we all watched, Moon and Mask discussed the possibilities of releasing the generals as well as the risk to all of us in case they were still possessed by Beryl. In the end the decision was left up to Tuxedo Mask since they were his generals, a decision I did not envy because I could feel his longing for them but also the caution and worry that his Serena would be hurt.
He finally told Sailor Jupiter to release Nephlite, not wanting to risk releasing both of the generals at the same time in case they were both still possessed. He did not want to risk killing them both, knowing that there were still two more generals that had to be faced. So with everyone tensely waiting for what was about to happen, Sailor Jupiter powered up and hit the crystalline with one of her electrical attacks.
He fell to the ground and she ran over to him, bringing him into her lap and gently, lovingly urged him to wake up. Watching them was like a painful ache inside me because he did not know who she was, but it was obvious that he wanted to. She also had wanted him to remember her and she could not control the hurt that went through her that he had not. It was the first time after all that they had come face to face since their new lives.
He had gone on alert when he discovered that she was a Sailor Scout, but instead of fighting he had taken a good look around at all of us around him. It was clear that he had weighed his options before he decided to give up. Unfortunately because he had only known the darkness of the Negaverse, he assumed that we were there to kill him.
Sailor Moon tried to reassure him that we were not there to hurt him, explaining that we found him completely by mistake. She explained the reason why we were there and it seemed to confuse him more that the Scouts had willingly put themselves at risk just to rescue each other. The Moon Princess though had simply told them that she was doing it because she knew that they would do it for her.
When I offered to set him free from Beryl's spell, he had looked at Jupiter and readily agreed. It was obvious that even in Beryl's control he was still in love with the Princess of Jupiter. Destiny and I used our magic to open up Nephlite's mind, but it was Lita herself that brought back his memories with a soft kiss to his forehead. After he was free, the shame that he felt for what he had done was written all over his face and the stance of his body. Sailor Jupiter was amazing though, she just tenderly wiped away his tears and assured him that she did not hate him and she had forgiven him the things that he had done. It was to the relief of all of us when they shared their first kiss of their reunion; however, Mercury had to be told by Sailor Moon to put away her computer since she was still doing readings on everything.
Tuxedo Mask welcomed Nephlite back to his side but he was still a little apprehensive about releasing Jadeite. He knew that it would probably not be as easy to release him from Beryl's spell as it had been for Nephlite. They did not have the extra benefit of Jadeite not knowing Sailor Mars. However he had finally agreed to let her release him, much to her happiness.
She called upon her fire and melted down the casing around him, stopping it once she felt it give away. He was on his knees gasping for breath, but he quickly came to his senses when Sailor Mars had taken a hold of his shoulders and spoke his name. He had looked at her with such hate that she like the rest of us had been shocked, however when he slapped her across the face with enough force to send her flying back, Tuxedo Mask and Nephlite quickly moved their women behind them to shield them, and I moved in front of a shell-shocked Mercury to keep her from being attacked as well.
He stood up and moved in front of Sailor Mars, intent on acting out his revenge on her for his being put in that crystalline coffin. He powered up and attack and sent it at her, however, Destiny quickly moved between them and sent her shield up to cover them both as it absorbed his attack. At the same time, Tuxedo Mask and Nephlite sent out attacks that hit him on both sides, bringing him to his knees.
Sailor Moon then moved in front of him, her hands on her hips and asked him if he was done being stupid, not having to point out that he was outnumbered because Jupiter came up behind her, mashing her fists together, looking like she was looking for any excuse to kick his sorry behind a few times around the room. It was then that he took a good look around the room, seeing everyone there for the first time.
He was still not willing to listen to us that we were not there to hurt him, even when I tried to sooth him, he fought against me. He was also rude enough to make Destiny bristle up, but she kept from the urge I knew she was having to take her staff and hit him upside the head to knock the stupid out. However, it was Mars, with her continual softness that finally broke through to him, but confused him at the same time.
He reluctantly agreed to trust Sailor Mars and Destiny and I quickly moved into position and used the same magic that we had on Nephlite only moments before to open the recesses of his mind. However, unlike Nephlite, it was causing Jadeite pain because he did not completely trust us and he fought us a little, making our jobs harder and we had to force the memories upon him.
I think if it had not been for Jadeite saying Raye's name, she probably would have tried to take her anger out on us, but it was instantly forgotten in the face of the fact that she had her love back. It was a sweet reunion between them that was punctuated by Tuxedo Mask swinging Sailor Moon to the sound of her laughter.
However Destiny quickly brought us back to reality that we still had to find Sailor Venus, which made me remind everyone that we still had two of the generals to worry about, including whatever they were planning for us. A quick decision was made between the Prince of Earth and his two generals that they would continue on our quest with us, even if it leads us right into the depths of hell.
However we were quick to be informed by Mercury that we suddenly had another problem. Something was suddenly blocking her computer from finding Venus' signature. It frustrated everyone, especially me because I could not feel her unless I was close to her since I had to contain my own empathetic powers the moment we came in otherwise the dank, evil atmosphere would have overwhelmed me. Jadeite though suggested that we try the training room since it was the only place that he could see them keeping her. So together, a group much larger than we came in with, we continued on to find Venus, cautious and fearing an ambush.
We found Venus cuffed to the floor in the middle of the room, seemingly alone but we knew without a doubt that she wasn't, especially since mine and Destiny's staffs were alight with the power that was in tune with the senshi and the generals. It was confirmed when Malachite spoke and stepped from the shadows, scowling darkly at us. He did the typical bad guy thing that I have seen more times than my years by telling us to give up and he would make our deaths painless. Of course, he was turned down with us taking on a stance to defend ourselves.
He snapped his fingers and it seemed as if the walls had moved. Everywhere that we could see were different colored, mostly drooling, and almost all female youma. Growls and whines filled the air as they awaited the command to attack, and if it was possible the smell of decay had gotten worse. The guys moved closer to their women, wanting to protect them in what seemed like overwhelming odds. Sailor moon broke away from us and began to run towards Sailor Venus, hoping to free her before she got hurt. Mercury covered the area in bubbles, hoping to keep her leader covered so she would not get injured in the process, giving her enough time to reach the Scout of Love.
Meanwhile, we were busy fighting off youma that were trying to surround us. Tuxedo Mask kept Mercury safe while she told us their weaknesses. It wasn't until Sailor Mars let out a horrified shout that we turned our attention back to Sailor Moon and Venus. There were several youma gearing up to send their attacks at the helpless senshi and her leader. Mars took off towards them while Jadeite tried to blast youma in her path. I looked at Rose but we both knew even as she told me there was nothing we could do without hurting the senshi, we still had youma around us to keep fighting as well.
Even as I heard Venus pleading for Sailor Moon to go and save herself, Sailor Moon shook her head and pushed her down, covering her with her body in a selfless act to protect her. However, something else happened that was quite surprising to everyone in the room, Malachite had thrown himself in front of them and used his own shield to deflect the attack from hitting them. It would seem that something that Sailor Moon said to Sailor Venus had triggered the memories to surface in him and he could not allow any harm to come to his love or her princess.
The youma were stunned into halting their movements, so Destiny and I took the opportunity to run over and join the group, which had Mars and Moon hugging tightly and a confused Venus looking at a renewed Malachite. She looked up at me and I could see memories flickering in Venus' mind but she was too confused to be able to grasp them and understand them. I smiled and whispered the same words that I did when she was a child on Venus, “You are a child of love, Mina. You have such a bright future ahead of you.” But then with a wink I changed the end. “You have great friends all around you.”
Venus' eyes widened as the memory surfaced and she was about to grasp it. "My guardian angel," she whispered, tears in her eyes.
I grinned while Malachite unlocked the cuffs that bound Venus, who as soon as she was free threw her arms around me while I giggled, very happy to be able to hold her again after such a long time. "You came back."
"Of course, I did," I whispered, smoothing her hair. "I promised you that I would."
Venus pulled away from me slowly and looked at the general warily. "Mal?"
He looked down in shame, but she tucked a gloved hand under his chin and made him look up at her. He gasped when he saw her once again in her princess dress from the past and the symbol of Venus blazing on her forehead. "I don't know why you did the things that you did, but I forgive you."
Malachite pulled her into his arms and buried his face in her hair. He was thankful that he had his memories back, grateful that Mina still loved him, and happy to figure out why he felt the strange feelings for her while he held her captive there in the Negaverse.
The rest of the group had managed to move to stand by the small huddle near us. Tuxedo Mask pulled Sailor Moon to her feet and buried his own face in her hair whispering to her softly, trying to assure himself that she was still alive and well.
There was a sudden restlessness in the youma. We looked up and around us as several youma had obviously decided that Malachite was no longer on their side and launched their attacks. Each of the guys made moves to cover their girlfriends, while Destiny threw up her shield. “Mother's Shield!” The shield absorbed the dark energy but this time she kept it up since the other youma were preparing their own attacks.
I think we better get out of here,” Mercury said, her eyes going wide as several youmas started moving towards them, obviously beginning to wonder if we were going to make it back out. “I don't think her shield will hold up against physical attacks.”
“What about Zoicite?” Sailor Moon asked her, knowing the other girl would like the chance to win back her own true love.
Mercury looked down at the slimy green floor; it was clear that she wanted to go get him but at the same time trying to was risking her friends. Can we even get him back?”
Malachite stood up and placed a hand on her shoulder, squeezing it a little. “I think we can, and I can lead you to where he is.”
Sailor Moon looked at the advancing youma then back at them. “Go, get Zoicite.” She looked at me, begging me to keep her friends safe. “Go with them. I'll stay here and take out several more of these guys and then follow.”
“I'll stay with you.” Tuxedo Mask said, looking down into her eyes. “I will not leave you unprotected.”
Sailor Moon gave him a sweet smile, very grateful that she would not be alone for this. “I figured that you would,” she said softly, glad to have his support.
“As will I,” Destiny said, not looking at them because she was now taking several blasts upon her shield and it was taking quite a bit of effort from her to keep holding it up.
`Rose?' I asked her mentally, confused to my twin's decision to stay. She had always chosen to stay fighting by my side.
Ancient black eyes met my hazel eyes as she responded back to me. `Keep them safe and I will keep the princess and her prince safe.'
I nodded reluctantly. I didn't want to leave my sister, but getting everyone out alive was more important. I knew she could hold her own, she was an excellent Guardian and if she needed my help, she would call me. “Alright,” I whispered. “Let's go,” I said louder so the rest of the group could hear me.
Destiny watched until the group was at the doorway, I could feel the dread filling her stomach. `Angel,' she called to me mentally and I turned and looked at her. `Stay alive.' I looked at her for a moment before I nodded before disappearing from the room taking the scouts and generals with me.
We followed the directions that Malachite told us silently, my mind was preoccupied with whatever was bothering Rose but I made myself focus as we raced through the halls, stopping when we reached the throne room. Zoicite was standing in the middle of the room alone. He was slightly surprised to see us but covered it up quickly by glaring at us in contempt. "You shall die," he hissed.
"No, we won't," Mercury whispered.
Zoicite raised an eyebrow as she slowly walked towards him. He knew that she was one of the weaker scouts, so he didn't fear her approach. When she stopped a few inches in front of him, she lifted her teary blue eyes and from the look on his face they captivated him, introducing him to a feeling long forgotten by him.
She reached up a hand and gently touched his cheek with her gloves. "Come back to me, Zoi," she whispered to him.
Zoicite was lost in her touch; he was about to reach out to her when an evil cackle filled the air, a cackle that I could remember in my mind from when we were forced to stand by and watch the fall of the Moon Kingdom. Zoicite's dead black eyes narrowed as he shielded Mercury's body from Beryl.
"So I see you are returning to them as well," she hissed at the confused general. She smirked at him. "But I can replace all of you."
She sneered at the three couples by the door, not noticing that I was making my way towards Zoicite and Mercury. "Watch them die," she cackled, and then she sent a blast of negative energy towards the two.
I didn't think, I just knew that I had to protect them. This was what I was here for. I moved quickly, pushing Zoicite and Mercury out of the way of the blast, then threw my staff up in front of me in an effort to shield myself. The dark energy tore through the staff though snapping it in two, which caused searing pain rip through me since the staff was part of my soul. The energy then hit me and threw me up against the wall with a sickening thud that echoed inside my fogging mind. I slid down its surface to fall nearly unconscious on the floor.
I could feel everyone wince at the sound of Beryl's hysterical laughter. She put up a barrier stopping the three couples still by the door from moving farther into the room to help me or Zoicite and Mercury. She glided across the room, ignoring her general and the Scout of Ice on the floor for the moment. Her red eyes burned into me as I looked up at her. She stared down at me before she smirked a little. “So this is the great Sailor Love? I am not impressed.”
My breathing was slightly labored and I could tell that I was forming bruises all along my back as I pulled myself into a half-sitting position. “Bite me,” I hissed out in defiance to the way she was gloating down at me.
Beryl roared her outrage. Her claws dug into my flesh, burning me with the black energy as she picked me up by my throat and threw me across the room. The sound of my bones breaking when my back made contact with the throne echoed around the room and it was all that I could do not to scream in pain, biting my tongue to keep the tears from sliding down my face. She was not done with me because she cackled as she looked into my pain-filled hazel eyes. “Metellia wanted you dead. But I think that it would be much more enjoyable to watch you kill your precious scouts and your annoying sister.”
“Never,” I hissed, my eyes filled with defiance. I would never allow myself to be used in any way, much less to hurt those that I loved. However Beryl was already using her dark energy to lift my broken body in the air and sending wave after wave of negative energy into my body, tormenting me.
This time I could not stop the screams in agony at the darkness that was eating into my soul. Each wave ripped a piece of me apart and I could feel myself beginning to collapse under the pressure. Mental images filled my mind, images of me killing each of the scouts, their beloveds in the most horrifying ways. But it was the image of me killing my sisters that ripped my heart apart completely. I didn't just kill twin; I played with her as if she were a toy. I slowly tortured her until I made her beg for death and then I chopped her head off much like how I had done to our father.
My mind screamed against the images, denying them even as they came. I would never willingly kill my sister, not if I still had a say in it and right now I did. I opened my hazel eyes, knowing that there was black flickering within the depths as I fought the evil energy. I smiled broadly at Beryl, knowing that I was going to win this battle. “I will not let you destroy them by using me.”
I called forth my rose quartz. My eyes closed as I called to Rose mentally, feeling immense sorrow that I was going to leave her but this was my only choice if I was going to save the senshi and her, `I'm sorry, Rose. I love you.' Then I smashed the stone, feeling my white wings flaring out at my back, cleansing my soul of the negative energy that was trying to steal it away.
Then the blackness surrounded me as my life ended.
To be continued...
