Sailor Moon Fan Fiction ❯ Halted Destiny ❯ Small Lady’s Hidden Side--Part 1 ( Prologue )

[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]

A/N: This story will have some components of my other story, so I recommend you read that story first if you don't want spoilers later on.

I do want to thank Moonlight Phoenix for the idea of a Gaea character, but mine will be a little different I expect…;)

This story mainly takes place in Crystal Tokyo after Neo-Queen Serenity's ruling. Chibiusa is the queen. Her name will be Sue-Queen Serenity (sue is Japanese for future). First though, we have Chibiusa as the princess still for a few chapters to give some background information about her life. Eventually though, she will grow up. What is this story about, you ask? Well, not to give too much away…but it is about Chibiusa's future when she is queen and how the loss of a child will affect her. I'm guessing this story will be around 20 chapter, give or take…

I will try and put all Japanese words, unless it is a name, into italics. I also use the Japanese names so if you do not know who they are, email me and I will give you a list.

Disclaimer next: Sailor Moon and its resultant characters is owned by Naoko Takeuchi, not me. I am just using her characters for my own enjoyment. I do own the new senshi that appears in my story.

Now, on to the story!

Prologue
Small Lady's Hidden Side--Part 1

You must remember, Small Lady. Never use the ginzuishou in anger. Use it only with the purest of hearts. Otherwise you will corrupt the power inside.”

I understand, Mama. I'll remember.” Princess Serenity, heiress to the throne of Crystal Tokyo closed her eyes against the pain of that memory. She had been so much younger and more naive then; a scant two years ago. Now she was thirteen and she was older and wiser. She held up the clear crystal that was her birth-right and snarled into the hidden depths of its facets. “You will of no help to me tonight!” she shouted, throwing the crystal across the room.

“Small Lady?”

Princess Serenity moaned in pain and fell to the floor sobbing. “Go away, Mama. Leave me be.”

The tall, imposing figure of Neo-Queen Serenity moved into the room, throwing a shadow on her prone daughter. “Oh, Small Lady...”

“I miss him, Mama.”

“I know.” Neo-Queen Serenity voiced a deep sigh, then speaking, her voice cracking, she said, “I do to.” Neo-Queen Serenity gathered her daughter up into her arms and rocked her, letting her own tears of grief mingle with those of her daughter. Too quiet for the still shaking young woman in her arms to hear, Neo-Queen Serenity said in near desperation, “Oh, Mamo-chan, how I miss you!”

Later that night, Princess Serenity slipped out of the palace. As usual when she snuck out, she took on the guise of a commoner; she snuck out as Usagi Tsukino. As she walked the streets of Crystal Tokyo, it struck her that every single building was showing the mourning colors for King Endymion's passing, yet no one was even trying to figure out why he died. It took Serenity several more years before she realized that the Commoners didn't feel it was their business, even though Neo-Queen Serenity tried to run as close to a Utopia as possible. There was still poverty and still people who killed in the name of someone higher up, even if that person never gave the original order to kill.

Serenity slipped an ancient key she snuck out of the palace into a hidden key hole in the wall next to the bakery. She turned the lock and stepped into what was truly a secret garden. Only those with the power of Earth running through their veins could find this place. Those who had the power of Earth and those who were family. “Helios? Are you here?”

“Maiden? What are you doing out of the palace and out of bed?”

Serenity clasped her hands, holding herself back from running and burying her face in Helios. She had fallen in love with the priest when she was in the past, years ago. She felt, sometimes, that Helios just merely tolerated her. “Helios, Papa is...” To her horror, Serenity started crying. “Papa's gone and I miss him so. No one is trying to figure out who killed him either. They all act like it's no big deal...” She sat on the bench that was just inside the door and put her hand in her hands, crying so hard she nearly forgot where she was.

“Maiden...” Serenity felt the gentle touch of Helios and it was all the invitation she needed. She threw her arms around him and cried until she was worn out. When she was done crying, Helios laid her out on the bench and got up to get some water. He placed a cool handkerchief across her eyes and sat down next to her.

“What should I do, Helios?” she whispered.

“You could find his killers and bring them to justice.”

“Mama always told me I couldn't use the ginzuishou out of anger...”

“No, the Moon Power is too pure for anger. It would turn it evil or shatter it. But do you not also have the blood of Earth in your veins? Earth Power? How could have you found this garden otherwise?”

Serenity sat up, letting the wet cloth fall to her lap. “I always assumed it was because of Papa, but…” Serenity closed her eyes and searched her soul for something other than the Moon Power. She felt, under the calm pureness of the ginzuishou was a wilder power. She opened her eyes in joy, “Yes! I do. I have the Power of Earth, just like Papa did.”

“And like your father, you have the ability to use that.”

“How will that help me?”

“Earth Power is different than Moon Power, Maiden. It is not as pure. True, it is able to be used for good, but using it while angry doesn't corrupt Earth Power. It is the nature of the planet. You notice that your mother's Guardians can use their powers while angry? Earth was originally supposed to have a Guardian soldier as well, but fate put a hold on that until you came along.”

“Me?”

“You have Earth Power running in your veins. Use that power to become the Senshi of Earth. Sailor Gaea.” Helio's mouth quirked in a half smile. “The senshi your father should have been, if he had been a girl.”

Serenity looked at Helios in amazement until the mythology she was taught while in the past came back to her. She started laughing and said, “Very funny, Helios.”

“Maiden? I wasn't trying to be funny.”

“Do you know how many young women have been coming to the palace claiming to be a long lost senshi, many of them taking on the name of Sailor Earth, claiming to be Papa's sister?”

“Yes, Maiden.”

“Gaea is another name for Earth, right?”

Helios smiled. “That may be, Maiden, but you are Sailor Gaea as well as Sailor Moon.” Helios paused considering, “but perhaps we should call you something different?” Serenity smiled but nodded. “Good. Now take this.”

Out of his breast pocket, he pulled out a gold and reddish brown pen, similar in look to original pens of the senshi Guardians. In the center of the reddish brown oval, a circle with an even sided cross inside, designated the symbol for Gaea. This is your henshin pen. Say Gaea Power, Make-up.

With shaking hands, Serenity took the pen, clasping it against her chest. “Thank you, Helios!” she shouted, leaning across to give him a kiss on the cheek.

Whether by accident or design, Helios turned his head towards Serenity at that exact moment and the kiss intended for his cheek landed on his lips. After an initial shock period Serenity closed her eyes and relaxed into the kiss. After a minute or two, Helios pulled away. “I…I'm sorry, Maiden,” he gasped, blushing a bright red. “That wasn't intended.”

Serenity sat back and sighed. “Helios, you gave me my first kiss…”

“Well, yes, but… You remember that?”

“I have never forgotten…” Serenity said quietly. “What about you? I've only had a couple years. You've had…”

Helios shook his head and smiled at the Princess of Crystal Tokyo. “I was put to sleep when the Earth was put to sleep. It only seems a few extra years for me. I remember everything. Including the way I still feel for you, my Serenity.

“Good. If you remember and I remember, then I think there is nothing to be embarrassed about. I certainly don't regret kissing you.” Serenity blushed and looked down.

Helios started and looked at the young princess in front of him. He grabbed her shoulders and pulled her closer to him. “I don't regret it either, Serenity.”

This was the first time he had used her name to her and Serenity barely had time to react before he kissed her again. He pulled away and said, “Now, say Gaea Power, Make-up.”

“O…okay, Helios.” Serenity said, a bit shaken from their last kiss. Serenity held up her wand and called out “GAEA POWER, MAKE-UP!” In an instant, Serenity felt power wash over her. It was similar to the power she felt whenever she transformed into Sailor Moon, but…different. Instead of the pureness of the ginzuishou, she felt the wildness of Earth fill her veins. Opening her eyes, she saw green and brown light surrounding her. She felt her hair fall from the twin odango pig-tails. Down, her hair reached past her feet normally, but as she was transforming, she felt her hair shorten several inches. She couldn't see it, but her hair changed to a reddish-brown with green highlights. Two small braids, one on either side of her face, formed, two of the strands being reddish-brown, one strand being green. The rest of her hair was down and fell below her knees. Her eyes remained the pink color they normally were. The brown/green light engulfed her body, leaving behind the bodysuit and bows of the senshi fuku. Her front bow and button were green, but had brown tinged on the edges. Her back bow was mostly brown, with just a little bit of green along the top edge of the bow. Her gloves and shoes formed next. Her gloves were the white kid gloves women wore to balls and such. No color but there was a little bit of lace at the wrists. Her shoes were soft brown slippers, no heel and a very soft sole. When her skirt formed, it was brown until about halfway up then the brown mingled with the green, turning fully to green at the top. Her choker and collar were green and her tiara jewel was green as well. When her transformation finished, she turned towards Helios. “I did it!”

Helios had watched her transformation in rapt attention and when she turned towards him, he smiled. “Great, now what should we call you instead of Sailor Gaea?”

“I don't know.”

“How about Rose Angel?”

Helios and Serenity turned to see a figure dressed very familiarly. He walked up to the new senshi, and smiled at her. “Hello, daughter.”

“P…papa?” Uncertain, Sailor Gaea looked at the partially transparent man in front of her.

“Yes, Small Lady. My spirit was allowed back for a brief time to set you on the course as Gaea and to say good-bye to my family, since I didn't get to before.” The shade of the past king looked at his daughter and sighed. “You look like my Mother did before she died. She was never Sailor Gaea, understand, but her hair was that color and she wore it in that style. Take this,” he said, holding out a rose. When Serenity picked it up, it morphed into a scepter. The handle was green, but the head was red, in the shape of a rose. “This is the Elysion Rod. It will channel your power into the tip and allow you to defeat your enemies. Do not use this on humans. It will kill them.”

“I understand. Thank you, Papa.”

The ghostly king smiled, then leaned down and pressed his lips to his daughter's forehead. “I love you, Chibiusa.” He disappeared in a flash of light and Serenity and Helios were standing in the middle of Elysion staring at the spot he was just in.

Helios turned towards Serenity. “Go, Rose Angel. Go find out who ended his life.”

The Elysion rod disappeared in a flash of light and Rose Angel leapt over the garden wall and ran down the street.
