Heart of Darkness, Love of the Stars

By: Ryu

Disclaimer: If you haven't figured out that I don't own Sailor Moon I will gladly accept a check for my show. *Naoko-sama's lawyers enter with guns.* Weeellll did I say my show? I meant the talented Naoko Takeuchi's show! Well I think I will run now….

Oh yeah I came up with this at three in the morning, don't e-mail me totally pissed off at how I wrote this please! I am not out to offend anyone!! This is set during and after stars. Any characters you don't recognize are mine.

"I have been traveling this universe for eons searching the Messiah, for the one that will end my 'partnership' with Chaos. I grow tired of this endless game, every world I find is dark, not capable of housing the one of the Light. I can only hope that if Chaos finds the one she searches for, her love, then maybe… just maybe I can…"

'I am with you beloved, always'

"No! Shut up! I don't want to remember! I don't want you to see what I have become!"

'I know it's not you. You can't help what Chaos makes you do. Chaos is the evil, not you!'

"Sometimes I wonder. Is there really a such thing as evil?"

'My love?'

"Chaos took control of me originally because we are far too much alike…. Dark… Passionate… Alone. There is a legend, that when Kami created the universe He first made Light and Dark. They were two women that would give law to life. Light He made fair haired and blue eyed, while Dark was like her namesake, dark of hair and eyes. Light and Dark came to love one another, one would not be seen without the other. At first, Kami tolerated their passionate affair, for love is the most pure and beautiful of emotions right? Soon, the Two began to neglect their duties, so devoted were they to one another. As punishment Kami separated the Two, but kept their love intact to both punish and comfort them, as they could no longer touch. In time Dark became brooding and vengeful, her heart hardening. She could no longer give her love to Light, only take. Soon the two became personified by certain emotions; Light was kind, and gentle, happiness and peace. Dark became spiteful and violent, anger and war, yet if you strip the surface, Dark and Light are both passion and love. Both needing the other, and only together will they be whole. However if they join, which can only be in death, the universe will parish, for it will have no law to guide it. Chaos and Dark are the same, I am her avatar. Just as the Messiah is Light's."

'Would Chaos actually do such a thing?'

"Yes, she would. That is why she will not let me know peace. If she can not be with the one she loves neither can I. The things we do for love… "

Eighteen Years Ago

"No more Chaos! Do you hear me? I will serve you no longer!!!" The figure screamed as she flew through space faster than light.

'You can not abandon me! I have waited far too long! You will search until you find her! I will not be denied my soulmate!'

The figure was entering a new star system, within it were six planets orbiting twin yellow suns. The figure nodded her eyes as she headed towards the nearest planet, her speed not changing in the slightest.

'You fool! What are you doing? You will be killed! I will be without an avatar! Stop!'

The figure refused to heed the words of her master, even as she entered the planet's stratosphere, her body screaming in pain from both the gravity and the heat. Yet the figure pushed on, even as she felt the skin blistering and peeling off in thin strips where it was not covered by her fuku. She smiled as her master screamed in her head, demanding that she stop, when the hard earth rose up to embrace her.

Two women were taking an afternoon jog when a bright, flaming light caught their eyes. They turned and watched as a comet hit the ground a good distance away. The comet's impact caused the earth to groan and buckle as they were both thrown back. Shaking her head, one of the women stood on quaking legs and dusted herself off. Holding out a hand she helped her companion up and looked at her worriedly.

"I think it landed in the wastelands, did you hear any reports of a meteor shower today Ky'thrri?" The first woman asked.

"No, but I'll bet the weatherman is getting fired right about now!" Ky'thrri answered in disbelief. Her companion laughed for a moment before a mask of determination settled upon her features.

"Maybe so, but we should still check it out to and make sure there was no one in the area." Ky'thrri rolled her green eyes as she knew her companion would drag her along for the ride. "Great, we'll probably be turned into walking nightlights!" Ky'thrri moaned until her companion looked at her with narrowed blue eyes. The other woman sighed and pulled out an object; it resembled a headset of some kind.

"Fighter Planet Power!! MAKE UP!!"

In a blink of an eye, Sailor Fighter was standing in place of Ky'thrri's friend. The senshi spread her wings and drew Ky'thrri into her arms.

"Hold on and don't say a word!" Ky'thrri held her breath and tightened her hold as Fighter jumped into the air and took flight. Soon the impact zone was in sight; a huge crater was in the ground and debris was burning in some places, while smoke hung in the air like a blanket. Fighter tried to peer through the smog, but it was no use, they would have to go in.

The senshi touched down at the outer rim of the crater and set her friend down.

"Stay here."

"What? You brought me all the way out here and now you won't let me go in? I don't think so. We go or you don't go at all."

"Arrgh! You are impossible!"

Fighter sighed and finally nodded . Quickly she jumped down, sliding down the sloped side of the crater. After hearing her partner land much louder than she did, seeing as Ky'thrri slipped and fell flat on her face, Fighter headed towards the center. Ky'thrri groaned from her position on the ground and jumped up and dusted herself off.

"Oy! Wait up!" The green-eyed woman jumped at the booming echo her voice made. Scared, she jumped and took off after her friend. When she found Fighter again the woman was standing next to a smaller crater. Curious, Ky'thrri came up behind her friend to see what it was. After Fighter saw her friend, the senshi jumped down into the smaller hole, which was surprisingly five feet deep.

"What kind of rock to you think it is?"

"I…I don't think it's a meteor at all…"

"What?! Well what else could it be?"

Fighter shrugged and knelt down and slowly turned the object over… "Stars… It's a…" Fighter gasped as she looked into the face of a woman. The woman was completely naked, her body covered mostly by singed locks of hair that were far too sooty to tell their true color. Her skin was blackened and burned in some places, and as Fighter looked over her damaged form, she realized that the woman was bleeding profusely.

"Is she still alive?" Ky'thrri called to her friend. Fighter reached over and checked the woman's pulse. It was faint, but it was there and it was steady. Fighter tapped her Star Yell and called for help.

"This is Sailor Fighter! Send a medical team to the impact sight in the Wastelands! Hurry!"

"Sailor Fighter?! What the hell are you doing there? Don't you know there is radiation? Not to mention your parents-"

"Shut up! I'll explain later! Just get down here now!!!"

Fighter cut the signal and sighed. Her parents were going to kill her for this… "You ok down there?" Fighter looked up when she heard Ky'thrri question her. The senshi sighed again and nodded. "Yeah I'm good! Don't worry help is on the way!" As if on cue, the medical team's hover vehicle arrived over the creator. A medic jumped out and landed next to Fighter. "We've got this ma'am. Please go with the other medic so that you can be checked out." Fighter nodded and jumped out of the creator. Sure enough another medic was already checking over the fuming Ky'thrri, although it seemed she was really trying not to get her head pounded in by the woman.

"I'm telling you I'm fine!"

"Ky'thrri-sama I just want to check…" The medic yelped and dodged as she was swung at… again. Fighter burst out laughing at her friend and the poor medic. The senshi was about to comment but a distortion in her vision silenced her. When she blinked, she and the others were aboard the hover vehicle. The woman, she noticed, was in stasis.

"You could have said something instead of just beaming us up!" Ky'thrri complained.

"I did." The driving medic stated. The other medic coughed and sat in the passenger's seat. Fighter and Ky'thrri shrugged and sat down.

"Do you think she'll be okay?"

"I wish I knew Ky'thrri, I wish I knew…"

Hours later, Fighter walked into the sickbay to check up on the woman. With a start, she noticed that Ky'thrri was already there. Her friend was standing next to the medical module encasing the woman, her beautiful features were scrunched into a frown. The woman was dressed in her uniform; blue tunic and paints with a white stripe running down the side. Fighter noticed her scabbard was empty, most likely the broad sword was with the doctor as she didn't like weapons near the patients.

Ky'thrri turned around realizing that she was being watched. She smiled when she saw Fighter standing there; the blue eyed woman was dressed in a navy blue shirt and white pants, the pants tucked into her boots. Fighter grinned and walked up to her friend. The two hugged briefly and then turned to look at the module. The woman inside could barely be seen as she floated in a restorative solution, the beeping of the monitor was the only thing that showed she was alive.

"How is she?" Fighter questioned.

"According to the doctor she is healing at an incredible rate, she will be awakening shortly."

"Good." Fighter answered. Ky'thrri turned to her friend and grinned.

"Your parents chew you out?"

"Yeah. They were all 'You know a princess and senshi should not be in an unsecured zone playing hero', which is totally stupid because I am this planet's hero!"

"True, but you are also the future Empress and the only child of your parents. You can't blame them for being overprotective."

"Don't worry I told them I took my bodyguard with me. By the way they want to speak with you." Fighter chucked at the pale shocked expression on her guard's face.

"Great." Ky'thrri mumbled weakly. Just then the doctor walked into the room. "Ladies, I will have to ask you to wait outside." Both nodded and walked to the outer room of sickbay. They sat down and resumed their conversation.

"What do you think happened to her? Maybe she is a fighter pilot and her shuttle got shot down?"

"Plausible but there would have been a siren for the weapons fire. Plus there would have been remains of the shuttle."

"Well do you have any better ideas?"

"Ky calm down, you could be right."

"What I want know is, how did she survive?"

"Good question. Now all we need is a good answer."

At that moment, the doctor walked into the room. "Ok you can come in now." Both women nodded and followed the older woman. When they entered the woman was laying on a bio-bed and was sleeping peacefully. She was dressed in the white pants and tunic of the sickbay and the flesh that they could see was without scars. Fighter walked to the side of the bed while her friend hung back. The doctor picked up an instrument and pressed it against the sleeping woman's neck. After a hissing sound, the woman began to stir. The doctor looked at Fighter sternly.

"You can talk to her, but only for a while and please no strenuous questions. She has been through a lot."

Fighter nodded and looked down into the most beautiful yet unusual eyes she had ever seen. The woman eyes were a beautiful crimson color. Fighter stared as the woman sat up slowly and shook her head, causing her long hair to fall about her shoulders. 'Stars… she's incredible' The woman looked about two years older than Fighter's seventeen years and was breathtakingly beautiful. Her hair from the crown of her head to her shoulders was honey-blonde, while the rest of the ankle length locks was rich auburn. Her skin was smooth, flawless alabaster; she looked nothing like the sooty, injured woman Fighter had found. The woman's ruby eyes locked on to Fighter's sapphire ones and the senshi found she was holding her breath. She cleared her throat and smiled, albeit shakily.

"I am Sharra Fautari, princess and Sailor Senshi of the planet Fighter. May I ask who you are?" The senshi spoke with far more confidence than she felt. The woman smiled at her and she felt her face flush and her legs all but turn to jelly.

Behind Sharra, Ky'thrri fumed at the way her princess and charge was behaving. 'Stars, she's not that pretty! Sharra, why do you blush when she smiles at you?'

The woman looked at Sharra, captivated by the other woman's beauty. Sharra's sapphire eyes were clouded with concern yet they still twinkled with mischief. She was about five foot four and possessed a shock of shoulder length black hair with blue highlights. The blue eyed woman had the toned body of a warrior, with out sacrificing her flowering femininity. The ruby eyed woman found herself drawn to this young warrior, she knew that she could trust her in this new world.

"I… I am called Seiya. Seiya Tau'monlale"

"Well Seiya, let me formally welcome you to Fighter. Tell me, what happened to you?"

Seiya frowned as she tried to remember. No matter how hard she tried, she kept coming up blank. Right now, all she could remember was her name.

"I don't know. I can't remember…" Sharra placed two fingers over the distraught woman's lips to silence her.

"Ssshh. It's alright, it will come to you later. I'll tell you what. The doctor is going to release you today, so I'll send Ky'thrri here down to pick you up and bring you to the palace. Then tomorrow I'll show you around and help you get settled." Sharra pointed with her thumb to her bodyguard so that Seiya would know her when she returned. The blonde-flame haired woman glanced at Ky'thrri, who attempted to keep a civil smile on her face, though the guard's agitation showed in her body language.

'Why would I make her uncomfortable?' Seiya wondered until she looked into the verdant eyes of the other woman. 'Ahh… you love the princess don't you? Judging by the look on your face, she doesn't have a clue. Very well, I accept.' Seiya plastered an equally fake smile on her face and held out a hand to her new rival.

"Hello, nice to meet you."

"Likewise." Ky'thrri chirped as she walked to the bed.

They clasped hands, both smiling. The challenge had been made and accepted. The rules were set, and the prize, whether she knew it or not was the princess and senshi of Fighter.

AN: You know I hadn't meant to make this so long. Guess this will end up being a story after all. Oh if you haven't guessed, Seiya is Galaxia. Let me say I haven't seen stars in a long time and I don't remember much. This is what happens when I can't sleep at night. If you have any suggestions, let me know! I'm at ryu@bbnp.com
