Sailor Moon Fan Fiction ❯ How Much Longer ❯ How Much Longer ( Chapter 1 )

[ P - Pre-Teen ]

Woo-hoo! I'm back and it hasn't been a month. This is my very first songfic. I heard this song and immediately knew it needed a story. Circle of Elements has been updated (finally) and I should have the next chapter up either this week or next. In case anyone cares, I'm going to be in a movie next week on my birthday!!!!(OK so I'm an extra and not technically in the movie but whatever). If anyone has seen the movie Wishmaster 3 though, tell me where I can find a copy (Look for one of the few asian extras, that's me)

NE Wayz, on with the story

Disclaimer: Sailormoon belongs to Naoko Takeuchi and not me so don't sue. How Much Longer belongs to Sugar Jones and Universal Music Canada.

I had the strangest dream last night just as I fell asleep

And now I wonder what it means

I tried to call your name, I screamed out loud, but nothing came

And you just smiled and walked away

How much longer till I find a real love baby

I can't wait much longer here in vain

How much longer till we walk in the sunshine baby

I wanna feel that sunshine on my face

Rei shot up out of bed, breathing rapidly. It was the same dream that she had been having the last few nights, ever since Galaxia had been defeated. While she couldn't remember most of the dream, she did remember the feelings it left her with. First intense joy followed by intense betrayal. The worst was the last emotion she remembered intense sorrow. The darkness of the dream was following her no matter where she went. Even Usagi, the queen of obtuseness had noticed that something was bothering her fiery friend. Rei felt as though the dream was tearing away a part of her soul, or perhaps remembering a part of her soul that was no longer with her. Getting out of bed, she decided to try another fire reading to discover what was plaguing her nights.

And as I travelled deep, dreams turned into memories

Of things I buried deep in me

So scared and so unsure, things I never felt before

Baby I just don't think I can hurt no more

How much longer till I find a real love baby

I can't wait much longer here in vain

How much longer till we walk in the sunshine baby

I wanna feel that sunshine on my face

She sat before the sacred fire, chanting the familiar words, hoping that she would finally be rewarded with answers. She fell into the trance easily, and soon the images of her dream began to come to her in flashes.

*flash* A starry night, the full earth hanging above a serene lake as she sat wrapped in someone's arms

*flash* A bouquet of purple roses, with a note attached, in front of her chamber doors

*flash* Sky blue eyes, filled with love, watching her intently

*flash* Those blue eyes closing in death as she held him close

<What do they all mean?> She asked the fire, desperate to know.

First day that you came along

Sweetness you went on and on

Everyone had run the game and gone

You told me I was beautiful

Your words they were so beautiful

I felt like I was truly beautiful

*flashback*

Mars sat in her chair impatiently wishing that this ridiculous ball would end soon. She had better things to do that sit here and watch everyone else dance merrily. <No,> she mentally corrected herself, <You're just jealous. As if anyone here would ask you to dance.> Mars had quite the reputation around the Lunar court. No young man would go near her because of her unusual psychic abilities and her tendency to let her temper get the better of her. Mars was just about to leave and face the Queen's wrath when a deep voice asked, "May I have this dance Princess?"

Thinking that it was Uranus teasing her, she whirled around about to snap off a pert remark when she came eye to eye with one of the most handsome men she had ever seen. Quickly composing herself, she glanced at him coolly and said with a bitter edge in her voice, "Are you sure my Lord, surely no one wants to dance with the court freak?"

"I see no freak," he replied, "I only see a beautiful woman with an even more beautiful soul."

Mars arched an eyebrow, "Lovely words, but that is all they are, word."

"No milady, they are not," he replied, "I am Prince Jadeite of the Realm of the Soul, and when I say a soul is beautiful, I mean it."

Rei blushed, slightly embarrassed at not remembering earlier who he was. "I am sorry Lord Jadeite," she said, offering a slight curtsy, "If there is anything I can do to make it up to you…"

"Dance with me."

*End Flashback*

Boy when I watch you leaving those sweet words turned bittersweet

I've never felt so incomplete

But just one look from you is all you really have to do

And all at once the whole world seems brand new

*New Flashback*

Mars lay on the battlefield, surrounded by the bodies of soldiers and youmas, her life slowly ebbing from her. "Where were you?" she sobbed out, knowing that the Jadeite who had run his sword through her had not been the one who had stolen her heart. She heard someone coming and began to sob even harder. "Mars-hime?" a haggard voice asked. Mars struggled to see who was approaching. "Jade-chan?" she asked, hope radiating from her. She knew by his aura that this badly beaten man staggering towards her was her koiboto (lover, did I spell that right?). He fell to his knees next to her and gathered her into his arms. Tears fell down his face as he said, "I'm so sorry. When we got back it was all a trap. Beryl made these things out of our gemstones and sent them here to kill you. She made us watch. When I saw what that monster did to you, I couldn't handle it, I went nuts, we all did and we managed to break free. I'm so sorry…"

" Ssh, Koiboto," Mars whispered, her voice nearly gone. "Just stay with me and hold me until…"

Mars eyes widened, "Look out!"

Jadeite embraced Mars as his evil clone ran him through from behind. The force of the blow was enough that the sword went all the way through to Mars, piercing both of their hearts in one stroke.

<Aishiteru>

*End Flashback*

Rei broke free from her trance just as the sun was beginning to rise over the Hikawa Jinja. Tears began to fall freely as she digested all of the memories from her past life. <Jadeite,> she thought to herself, <I promised I would never forget and I did. I didn't even recognise the clone when we fought him. And I know it wasn't you because you would never turn to Beryl's side. If you are alive. I swear upon Mars that I will find you. I will walk in the sunshine with you once more.>

How much longer till I find a real love baby

I can't wait much longer here in vain

How much longer till we walk in the sunshine baby

I wanna feel that sunshine on my face

AN: I wrote this just now and I really had no idea that I could be this cheesy, did you? Anyways, should I write a sequel? Find songs for the others? Mars is my fave and its easier for me to write things about her. Maybe I should work on one where she lives up to her promise and finds him. Please REVIEW and tell me what you think or I will most likely abandon this story to the deepest confines of my hard drive. Sugar Jones is a really good Canadian group (even if they are from Popstars). Buy the CD!

Smile ; )
