3rd person's POV

The day begin as usual. Serena wake up unimaginablly late. Rushing around the house, hoping to make it on time to school, she got dressed and bolted out the door. Mrs. Tuskino shook her head as she watched her daughter's attempt to make it to school on time. "That's the third time this week. Honestly, I don't know how she's still at that school." Mrs. Tuskino said, unable to comprehend her daughter's ways. As she ran to school, Serena racked her mind for an excuse to tell her teacher, Miss Haurna. Deep in thought, Serena didn't notice what was in front of her. Then, whithout warning, BAM!!! Serena shook her head and looked up to see who she had hit. Looking in front of her stood a man in his late teen's. "Are you alright?" a low and deep voice asked. Serena froze momentarily at the sight before her. Scratching the back of her head, she noddded. Her face turned a slight shade of crimsom. The guy walked over and helped her up. Avoiding any eye contact whatsoever she managed to speak. "I -I'm ok. Thank you, I guess I should pay attetion more. I'm sorry if I hurt you at all." Serena tried to avoid his deep blue eyes that she could feel begin to bore into her skin.

A grin formed on his face, one he could not hide. "Try and watch where your going next time," he paused for a moment while he studied her strange hair style." okay, meatball head?" Serena look at this guy in disbelief. 'What's this guy's problem?' She thought. A look of total disgust clearly shown on her face. He laughed to himself as he headed to the Crown Arcade. Turning on her heel she began walking in the oppisite direction and met with three of her close friends. "Hey there guys!" she said, running toward the the three girls. One of the girls had long black hair that cascaded down her back, one had short black hair that had a tint of blue to it, and the final one had short brunette hair. "Lets get going, Serena. We're late!" the girl with black hair yelled. Serena compleately blew her off. "Hey Ami. Hey Lita." she smiled, breathlessly.

All three girls arrived at Crossroads High. Everyone of them late. "Man we're really gonna get it, guys." Raye announced to the other girls. Slipping down the hallways the group they tried to sneak into Miss H's class unnoticed. No luck. "Great, now we all have detention after school today." Lita sighed. After school, Lita, Raye and Serena met up in Miss H's class room. A two hour detention would be nothing for Serena, but the other to girls had things they actually had to do. "Awww. . . come on guys! Don't be like this!" Serena whinned. Her friends closed their eyes in an attempt to ignore the crybaby's plea. After a failied attempt at feiging anger, they both gave up and all hugged the blonde.

Darien's POV

As I was walking to the Crown Arcade after morning classes, I stopped to admire the cherry blossoms in bloom. As I continued to admire nature's beauty, something or should I say someone crashed into me. A girl, about my age. Maybe a little younger, with blonde hair and wore a school uniform. By the looks of it, I'd say Crossroads or Juuan high. I'm pretty sure it was Crossroads, though. I smiled inwardly. I stared at her momentarily as she collected all of her belongings that laid scattered all around. I kind of felt bad for her. She looked up at me for a second and I saw her begin to blush. I made a snide remark and beforeI left I made another rude comment about her odd (you had to see it to believe it) way she wore her hair in buns. Then walked off. I finally arrived at the arcade and walked in.

As the door closed behind me, I was greeted by one of the people that worked there. His name is Andrew Motoko. Same age as me and has dark blonde hair. Most would say that we could be twins, only I have black hair. I walked up to the counter and sat down. Andrew walked over to me with a soda. "Here ya go, buddy." I gave him a weak smile. The incident from this morning still fresh in my mind. I couldn't stop thinking about her reaction to my comments. Who was that girl? 'I wonder if I'll ever see her again.' Andrew's voice snapped me back to reality."Helloooo. Darien. Yo man, are you in there?" A grin broke across my face. "I better get going. I have to study for my sociology exam." And with that I paid for the drink and walked out, leaving Andrew in a state of confusion.

3rd person's POV

After Darien left, Andrew went about his normal (I hate that word...Normal.) chores around the arcade and lost track of time. Finally, he decided it was time to rest. As he went into the back to get a snack, the bell rang and sounds of laughter could be heard throughout the resturant. Walking back out with a soda in on hand and a sundae in the other, he met up with the blonde that sat waiting at the counter. "Afternoon, Serena," Andrew said, placing the treat in front of her."...Another detention?" He asked, looking at his watch. It was six-thirty. "Yup. The other girls and I were late this morning." Serena answered cheerfully, then her mood changed drastically.

Her voice had a hint of hatred in it, which frightened Andrew a bit. "I would've been on time if it weren't for some asshole getting in my way." Andrew looked at his friend utterly speechless. Somebody must have pissed her off good. She's never been this cold before, He thought. Andrew there'd be no harm in asking who had royally pissed her off. Serena scratched the back of her head in frustration. "Oh, some guy. He's about a foot taller than me with jet black hair and dark blue eyes," She couldn't forget them. As much as she tried, she couldn't. "He was wearing knaki pants, a black shirt, and a green blazer."

Andrew's face went pale for a second or two before he heard Serena ask inquizitivly," Why do you know him? Has he come in here lately?" Andrew laughed nervously. "Um. . . no I don't know anybody by that description. Sorry, Serena." He replied quickly, before attending to another customer. What's he hiding?',She pondered to herself. The bell rang and more people entered the arcade. She felt the hands of her friends on her back."Hey guys, what's up?" She ask without looking up from her drink. "Nothing, we just wanted to stop by for a little fun and were hoping that we'd see you here." Serena smiled. She was glad that she had such good friends who always could cheer her up. Andrew only glanced over at the group of girls. He was glad the Serena was smiling like she usually would.

After everyone left for the day, Andrew cleaned up. He still had forty-five minutes before he'd lock up for the night. As he was walking to the back with a handful of dishes, someone asked, "So what's her name?" causing him to drop all the dishes. Andrew hung his head with exustion. "Did you have to scare the shit out of me?" Darien only laught at the scene. "Here I'll help ya out." He said, grabbing a broom from the wall. As they were swepping, Andrew rested for a moment. "Serena." he said, as Darien scooped the mess into the trash. "What?" Darien looked at him, not understanding what he had meant.

Andrew looked at his friend and smiled before he explanined what he'd meant. "You ran into a blonde high school girl today, did you not? Darien only nodded. Andrew sighed, "Her name is Serena Tuskino. She's a senior at Crossroads High school." Darien laughed to himself. I knew it... "I take it you know her? Serena?" Darien ask slyly. Serena...that name suits her well, Andrew gave him a look of question, wondering why he wanted to know so much about his friend and then nodded. Wiping down the counter, Andrew asked "You like her, don't you?" Darien gave Andrew one of those 'You-can't-be-serious' looks.

Andrew only looked back with a 'I-know-you-a-little-better-than-you-think' looks."Kind of." he admitted. "I knew it!" Andrew shouted. Darien was amused at his friend's reaction. "Don't worry, it's not like I'm ever going to see her again..." He stated flatly. He could see the mischief in Andrew's eyes begin to grow. "What are you concocting in that tiny brain of yours?''

Andrew put his thought on hold for a moment. "Nothing," he lied. "but I think she likes you too. Which is scary that any woman would like you."Andrew added, laughing. Darien could't comprehend what was so funny about that. "I should get home. I have to get up early tomorrow." He mentioned and before he left Andrew to lock up added on more to his point, "Don't think about saying anything to her or try using your matchmaking skills to get us together," he paused."...Or I'll kill you, got it? Andrew shook his head in agreement and thought 'What you don't know won't hurt you.' He laughed at his cruel plan.

Turning the cornor to his apartment building, Darien dug in his pocket for his keys. Climbing the stairs to the fifteenth floor, he reviewd the events of the closing day. The strange girl, uh... Serena. Andrew's accusation and his own feelings. Why he did, he wasn't sure. But there was something about her, her personality maybe, he liked. He'd have to admit that she was quite intruging. Very fiery, yet very sweet. Weird combonation, He mused to himself. Just as he reached the door to his apartmemnt, something caught his eye. Stopping mid step, he turned to see a blonde haired girl with a red bow atop of her head. She was leaning against the wall ajacent to his door. Darien stared in disbelief and joy then chuckled to himself.

"Hey there big brother, how have you been?" the blonde girl asked, pushing herself off of the wall toward her elder sibiling. "Everything's great! How was America? I mean it's been what... three years! How's mom?" Darien replied, not really thinking about what was comming out of his mouth. Mina had left to go to America when she was only fourteen to live with her mother after their parents got a divorce. That's when darien's depression started. Nothing was the same after his little sister left. He never expected to see her again, only to be caught by surprise. Mina smiled at her brother's excitement. "Let's go inside and discuss this, shall we?" Mina said. pointing to his apartment door.

Both Darien and Mina talked til the early hours of the morning. "Oh my! It's two am! I should go." Mina exclaimed. "Do you have a place to stay?" Mina became quite. Darien became aware of his sister's situation. "You don't have a place to stay do you, Mimi." He questioned in a sympathetic tone. Mina cringed at the nickname he gave her many, many years ago. Whenever he wanted to get something out of her, he would call her Mimi. She shook her head weakly. "You can stay here until you find somewhere to go. Don't worry" He told her, walking to retrive some pillows and a blanket. When he returned, he found his sister fast asleep. "Good night baby sis." Darien whispered, covering her with the blanket. Then walked over and turned out the light. Crawling into bed, only one thought resounded in his head. Serena... It echoed, before he fell fast asleep.
