IT’S YOU, ISN’T IT?
By Sailor DKC
General Nephrite smiled at the red-haired girl as she talked about
her day as a nurse assisting the Royal Physicians at Prince
Endymion’s castle. ‘She is such a sweet girl,’ he thought as they
both sat in a booth opposite each other at a popular café.
Naru rambled on how the doctor she worked with drove her nuts. “I
mean all I did was gather the bandages when he was done. He even
said, ‘Done!’ Yet he scolds me for not being fast enough. Can you
believe that?”
“No, not really,” he chuckled as he picked up his chocolate parfait
drink and sipped it. As Naru continued to talk, Nephrite recalled
when he first met her. It was the day after the skating rink incident
with the dog demon. She visited him the next day at the hospital and
introduced herself as the girl whose hand he grasped just as he was
being boarded into the ambulance. Ever since then, she visited him
daily until he recovered from his injuries, a few weeks later. They
have been hanging with each other for over a month now since he was
released from the hospital.
Nephrite suspected that Naru has a crush on him, and he wanted to
believe that she was the one who saved him from the dog demon. But as
he watched her talk, laugh and drink from her own chocolate parfait
glass, he only had one thought in his mind. ‘She is not her.’
Even when they walked through a certain park holding hands, he knew
it wasn’t her. The way her hand felt was not the same as the one that
caressed his face when he was injured and nearly unconscious.
Sighing, he knew he should be honest with her. They stopped by a pond
and stared across it. “Naru,” he began. “I really like you, and I
enjoy your company. I hope we will continue to see each other as
friends, but I don’t want to feed you any hope that something will
happen between us.”
Letting go of his hand, Naru stepped forward a bit toward the pond.
She figured this day would come ever since she started spending time
with Nephrite. She had been so happy, yet she knew that he never saw
her in a romantic sense. Still, she hoped, and it hurt that the time
they shared like this would end soon. “Is there someone else?” she
asked, calmly.
Putting his hands in his pockets, Nephrite bent his head slightly in
guilt. “There is and there isn’t. You see, there was a girl who saved
me that day the dog demon attacked the skating rink. Believe me, I
thought you were her at first, not because I wanted to, although it
was part of the reason I started seeing you. But also, I didn’t want
to hurt you when I realized that you weren’t the one I am seeking.”
Reaching out, he placed a hand on her shoulder. “The girl who saved
me was a warrior with magical powers. When she took care of me, she
kissed me, and I have not forgotten that kiss.” Turning Naru to face
him, he looked into her eyes. “Although I know now that you’re not
her, I feel I should kiss you to make sure. But I don’t want to hurt
you anymore. Please forgive me, Naru.”
Feeling her eyes well up in tears, Naru gently took his face in her
hands. “I do.” Then she slowly brought his lips down to hers. It was
a simple kiss of forgiveness and understanding. When they finished
and pulled back, he gave her a sad smile.
“I’m sorry.”
“I know.” She smiled back, sadly. “Nephrite, I have something to tell
you.”
After leaving Naru at her home, Nephrite returned to the castle,
reeling in urgency over the news she gave him. The girl who saved him
was a Sailor Senshi, a guardian of the Moon Kingdom. He had heard of
them, but had never seen them. There were four from the planets of
Mercury, Mars, Jupiter and Venus. They only appear to protect the
Princess of the Moon if she was in any danger. “Yet she saved me here
on Earth so she must have been in the guise of a civilian to conceal
her identity!’ he thought, finally arriving at the castle and heading
straight for the Royal Library. Working on a computer, he found the
file on the Sailor Senshi and their photo stats. As he studied each
girl and their outfits, he was surprised as he viewed the one named
Sailor Jupiter, wearing the colors of green and pink.
“It must be her,” he whispered, recalling his blurry vision of a
female figure in a short skirt with colors of green and pink. He
observed her methods of attack and found her Supreme Thunder power.
Looking at her photo on the screen, he was aware that she had green
sparkling eyes. He felt nearly hypnotized but not fully drawn in. “I
wonder when I finally will meet her, will I drown in her eyes?” he
wondered, aloud. “But how will I be able to find her?”
“Nephrite?”
He looked up to see Jadeite, standing at the doorway. “The Prince is
calling us for a meeting in the throne room.”
Pacing back and forth in front of the throne, Prince Endymion argued,
“The attacks in our kingdom are getting out of hand. So far we have
no knowledge of who are enemy is. I must ask all of you to further
pursue any new information concerning these attacks.”
“If I may speak, Your Majesty,” Kunzite said, stepping forward from
his position. “It is possible that the Moon Kingdom could be the
target of an invasion. The attacks here on Earth are just practicing
drills.”
“We have not set foot on the Moon Kingdom for centuries,” Zoisite
joined in, also stepping forward. “It is hard to believe that anyone
would want to attack that peaceful environment.”
Jadeite also stepped up. “Your Majesty, there is rumor that people
from the Moon may have set foot here on Earth. The word has begun to
spread that maybe the guardians of the Moon Kingdom are joining
forces with whoever is planning these attacks.”
Endymion visibly flushed in anger as he stopped pacing, then turned
his back to the generals. “Impossible!” he exclaimed. “I do not want
to believe that there are traitors on the Moon.”
“Your Majesty,” Nephrite said as he joined in line with the other
Guardians of Earth. “I know for a fact that the guardians of the
Moon, the Sailor Senshi, are not traitors.”
The prince turned back to face him, astounded by this new piece of
information. “How do you know?”
“Because I was saved by one.”
After Nephrite told them what happened to him at the skating rink,
leaving out the kissing part, it was decided that the prince and the
generals will visit the Moon Kingdom to form an alliance and inquire
about the Sailor Senshi. The prince then called the Guardians to his
room to have a private discussion. “Whatever is said in this room
would go no further than here. Is that understood?” commanded
Endymion. The generals nodded. “Now I was able to get access to
transport to the Moon for awhile now.”
The men gasped. Their prince had been to the Moon without their
knowing! “My prince!” Kunzite exclaimed. “Why did you not take one of
us with you?”
Taking a deep breath, Endymion turned a bit red. “I have been
visiting intimately with Serenity, the Princess of the Moon. I am in
love with her.”
“Queen Serenity’s daughter!” Jadeite yelled. “But it is forbidden for
the Moon people and the Earth people to fall in love with each
other!”
“Nevertheless, it happened, and she is in love with me!” The prince
walked to his window and looked up at the moon glowing brightly in
the night sky. “I want this to be kept secret with you, my most
trusted Guardians of Earth. I want to clear the false rumors that the
Moon people are attacking the Earth.”
“Prince Endymion,” Zoisite spoke up. “In order to do that, we need to
enlist the aid of the Sailor Senshi. How can we accomplish our task
if we don’t know where they are. They only appear if the Princess is
in any danger.”
“That’s where all of you come in,” the prince replied. “My princess
is sworn to secrecy along with the Queen to reveal who the Senshi
are. So all of you will escort her princesses of her court. They are
all from the same planets like the Senshi. You must try to extract
information in order for us to meet and form an alliance with them.”
“Won’t the Queen become suspicious as well as the other princesses on
what we are planning to do?” Nephrite asked.
“The Queen will understand as every other monarch would when he or
she must do all they can to protect their kingdom. Hopefully, she
will see our true intentions and is willing to help us find the
Senshi.” Taking out four silver computer disks, he placed them on his
desk. “These are information for each of you, containing information
of the four princesses from Mercury, Mars, Jupiter, and Venus. Look
them over and decide amongst yourselves which princess you will
escort.”
As the generals took a disk, the prince spoke to Nephrite, “General
Nephrite, I will not be surprised that you will choose the princess
of Jupiter.”
Giving an assuring nod, Nephrite replied, “Of course, after all, the
Senshi who saved me is from her planet.” The generals left the room
and headed for the Royal Library.
“I choose Princess Ami of Mercury,” Zoisite declared as he clicked on
the SAVE button to record the information on his own disk. “She seems
to look the type that always have a nose in her books. Lucky for her,
I’m into some poetry and some music, especially the piano.
“Princess Rei of Mars looks like the type that has a fiery temper,
despite also being a shrine priestess. I’ll take up with her,”
Jadeite said as he printed out a color photo of her image as well as
saving it on his own disk. “Plus she’s a beauty!”
“Why am I not surprised?” muttered Kunzite. “You have a temper that
matches with her. Though I’m not sure about the beauty part.”
“Hey!” Jadeite retorted.
Zoisite laughed. “So I guess you’re choosing Princess Mina of Venus,
huh, Kunzite? She’s the only one left.”
“It’s not because of that,” Kunzite replied as he clicked on the INFO
display. “She is the head princess of the court, therefore she is the
unofficial leader as I am with you guys.”
While the other generals talked over what strategy they would use to
extract information, Nephrite was staring at the photo of Princess
Mako of Jupiter on the computer screen. She is very lovely, and her
height is taller than the other princesses, but not as close to his.
Her status indicated that she is single, loves to cook and is a
master in the Martial Arts. Her pastimes are ice skating and dancing.
‘Ice skating?’ he thought, then he remembered the young girl he
bumped into before he encountered the dog demon. He remembered seeing
a pair of ice skates on the ground when he helped her up. “Could it
be her?” he wondered as he stared at the photo. Then he noticed a
pair of pink rose earrings on her. Pink. Is it possible that the girl
is Princess Mako and Sailor Jupiter? Shaking his head in confusion,
Nephrite thought this would be impossible yet he can’t help but
conclude that it’s no mere coincidence that the girl was on Earth and
she had a pair of ice skates and his savior was at the ice skating
rink. ‘But why was she here on Earth? Is she a traitor? No, she can’t
be! She saved my life! And she…” His thoughts drifted as he
remembered the feel of the kiss she gave him. He felt very warm, and
he reddened. ‘I guess I will find out when I escort the princess of
Jupiter.”
“Nephrite,” Jadiete called to his friend. “You should be over here so
you can listen to our strategy.”
Nodding, Nephrite pressed SAVE to record on his disk and then joined
the group.
The visit to the Moon Kingdom started out well as introductions were
made between the princesses and the generals. When the prince
suggested an alliance with the Sailor Senshi, Queen Serenity calmly
replied that it was impossible to contact them because they are very
stealthy and discreet. However, the generals are free to explore the
kingdom if it would help them find who had been attacking the Earth
and dispel the rumors about the Moon Kingdom. Taking his men aside,
Endymion said, “This means that the Queen is not the one attacking
us. But we need the help of the Sailor Senshi. Find out what you can
from your princess escorts, and I will try to convince the Queen that
we are on her side. Surely with Princess Serenity on my side, I’ll be
able to persuade her. Good luck, men.”
The generals paired off with the princess of their choice, and they
all went in different directions to tour the kingdom.
Princess Mako of Jupiter took Nephrite to a grand restaurant where
they had a fabulous meal, then later on, they walked through a public
park. There was an open concert playing enchanting music, and there
was an open dance floor for public dancing. Mako and Nephrite decided
to go there. As they were dancing, Mako’s heart was beating so fast
she was so sure that Nephrite could hear it. She never thought she
would see the tall handsome Guardian again since the ice skating
incident on Earth. Oh, how different it was to look up into a man’s
eyes instead at eye level. ‘They are so blue like a stormy sea,’ she
thought as he swirled her across the dance floor. Even though he only
held her in a dancer’s embrace, his hands felt so good as one clung
to her hand and the other rested on the small of her back. Staring at
his lips, she recalled the kiss she gave him, then looked down so he
wouldn’t see her blushing. ‘If he knew I was the one who kissed him
as Sailor Jupiter, how would he react?’ she thought as she
absentmindedly leaned her left side temple against his chin.
Nephrite raised his eyebrows in surprise as the Jupiterian princess
relaxed against him, resting her head on his chin. ‘It’s as if she’s
familiar with me,’ he thought. He admired her green hair ribbon which
matched her dress, and it was tied around a pink rose which matched
her pink rose earrings. Then he looked with his eyes to one side to
observe her hand which rested on his left shoulder. ‘When Sailor
Jupiter caressed my face, she used her right hand, smoothing up and
down as if to calm me,’ he thought, then bit his lip, trying to
figure a way to get the princess to caress his face. While he was
thinking, he spun her around and wasn’t concentrating on the couple
dancing in their direction. The female partner swung out her arm and
lightly smacked his left cheek. “OW!” he exclaimed.
“General Nephrite!” Mako stopped dancing and placed her right hand on
his reddening cheek.
“Oh! I’m sorry!” said the girl who hit him.
Her partner stopped dancing. “Are you all right?” he asked. “We
didn’t mean to get in your way!”
“It’s all right! No harm done,” Mako assured them as she stroked and
smoothed his face, up and down.
Nephrite’s eyes widened as he stared at her. ‘It has to be her!’ he
thought, his heart thumping wildly. “Ah, yes, yes. I’m fine,” he
stumbled on the words.
Relieved, the other couple resumed dancing. Mako then looked at him
and smiled. “It’s OK now,” she said as she still caressed his cheek.
“You’ll be all right.” Then she noticed a change in his expression
and his eyes. ‘Why is he looking at me like he just found me?’ she
thought, still caressing him. ‘I wonder what it could be…?’ Then she
realized how she was touching his face. Just like she did at the
skating rink incident with the dog demon. Gasping lightly, she tried
to back away, but he was too fast. He managed to grab and turn her so
her back is against his chest.
* Holding Mako gently against him with his right arm, Nephrite held
her right wrist with his right hand and her left hand with his left. *
She struggled at first, but he held her tighter as he whispered in
her ear, “Keep dancing,…please.” His voice was so hypnotically soft
and gentle that she stopped struggling, slowly looked into his stormy
blue eyes and nodded. Drowning in her sparkling greens, he slowly
released her to turn her back to facing him, and they resumed
dancing. When the music started its final notes, they slowed until
the last note played. As they came to a stop, Nephrite held Mako very
close until their lips were at least a kiss away.
“It’s you, isn’t it?” the Guardian of Earth whispered to the Princess
of Jupiter.
They stared at one another as the other dancers applauded when the
song ended.

figure a way to get the princess to caress his face.
“It’s you, isn’t it?” the Guardian of Earth whispered to the Princess
of Jupiter.
They stared at one another as the other dancers applauded when the
song ended.
