Chp. 8
Tranquility and Loneliness
Serena and Andrew rode off together silently, in an uncomfortable silence. Each was trapped by their own private demons. Serena didn't know what she was exactly feeling…but was it guilt? She felt bad for leaving Darien.
The two rode in silence for a few hours, stopping at a small village. Its lush scenery, sereneness made Serena fall in love with it. The villagers continued on with their daily life, ignoring Andrew and Serena. Seeing that the villagers didn't mind them, Serena decided that this was where Andrew and her were going to live.
Since Serena didn't originally own much finery, it wasn't hard to give it up. She found that she liked living as a peasant better than a captive princess. She had more freedom to do whatever she wanted because Darien wasn't there to stop her. Darien. Why couldn't she stop thinking about him? He was probably with some whore right now, happy that she had left him. She cursed him for haunting her dreams at night, because she couldn't get him out of her thoughts.
Andrew on the other hand, watched Serena day from day. Her beauty was haunting and it enchanting him. Her whisperings of that horrid name really irked him. What was it that he had to do to make her forget Darien?
Serena went through her days in a happily. Darien was gone, so what did she have to worry about? All she had to do was start over with Andrew and everything would be fine. Then she would live happily ever after. Would she though? Doubts still lurked at the dark recesses of her mind.
Each day, she found out different ways to help the villagers. She did chores, played with the children, and everything else she could do to get her mind off of him. Every thing went fine until one night. She successfully managed to get Darien off of her mind until Andrew decided to bring it up.
“It's already been ten years since we've left the castle. Do you still want to go back? To him?”
She hesitated for a moment considering it, but answered with a steady “no.” Andrew's rage grew at her hesitancy and he shook her by the shoulders for it. “Andrew you're hurting me!” She was bewildered by his sudden rage. From since they had Darien to now, Andrew had been cheerful and all smiles. But now, he was just another raving lunatic.
He pulled her to him and kissed the top of her head. “Good. Because you're mine now and Darien can't do anything to take you away.” (Sheesh, aren't men just so arrogant these days?)
Meanwhile… with Darien
(here's his pow or wutevr)
Darien was angry at Serena for leaving him. Him. It was him who always left the women. This was for the first time that some damned women had left him. He not only didn't like the concept and was dumbfounded by it, but it made him angry. Just who did Serena think she was anyways? She was nothing without him. Pretty soon she'd be crawling back to him like she usually did, on all fours sniveling and crying. The usual.
Christ, the woman was annoying. He combed his fingers through his hair. He waited for her to come back for a day. Then weeks passed by. Then the months did. Then years. Wait years? What the hell was going on?
A/N: sorry about the short and crappy chapter ppo. But wut can I say? My mind is full of crap. Yes the poll is still on to those of you who actually read the A/N and want to vote. Weird thing is last nite (9-18-05) I was dreaming and I feel a sudden pain in my arm. I wake up to my right hand digging my nails in my left arm. Interesting huh?
