Sailor Moon Fan Fiction ❯ Loyal Stars ❯ The Plan ( Chapter 2 )
An: Keep in mind Haruka is still a little kid and little kids have little kid thoughts. With this in mind let's be good boys and girls. (And thanks toasterwoman360 for the review. I'm a ham for reviews haha even if it's just one)…that was a little off topic…now on with the story
That night Haruka couldn't get over the fact that her father hated her because she was a girl. Lying in bed, Haruka tossed and turned until she finally came up with an idea. `Why don't I act more like a boy? Then Daddy will have to like me more.' She thought.
With this in mind she got out of her bed and slipped on her slippers. `First things first, I have to look like a boy then I'll have to get some boy clothes. I'll have to do it now so I won't get caught.' She slipped out of her room unnoticed by the guards who were busy flirting with some of the late working maids to notice her slipping out. `That's so GROSS! Those guys are so weird making smoochy faces to the old hags.' She thought with a look of disgust evident on her face.
Haruka was a master at hiding and she was even better in the dark. She slipped past the guards in the hall and darted towards the other side of the castle. Haruka was looking for the room where her father went to get his hair cut.
`This is it.' Haruka stood in front of a door that she knew her father went to get his hair cut. `All I have to do is cut my hair and then find some boy clothes. But I don't know where to find boy clothes. I think I'll skip that tonight.' She thought.
Haruka tried the doorknob and amazingly it opened. "Daddy needs to lock this door or someone could get in here and take his stuff." Haruka said being a hypocrite. Haruka felt around for a switch on the wall and flicked it on.
The room lit up and in the room were chairs covered in plastic and a long counter with sinks, baskets of hair products, and another basket of hair cutting objects. Above the counter was a mirror that went from one side of the room to the other. On the right side of the room was a closet for towels and whatnot.
Haruka climbed up on the closest chair and grabbed a pair of scissors from one of the baskets. Haruka looked at herself in the mirror and taking a fistful of hair, she chopped it off.
When she was done, she threw her hair in the garbage and put the scissors back. She then looked at herself in the mirror and saw her uneven, choppy hair sticking out from odd ends from her head.
She had her mom's eyes but she had her father's hair color. She hated not being able to make her father happy. The look of disappointment always came to his face when he looked at her. When they ate, her father would leave before she came or didn't come at all and requested his food be sent to his office. When she tried to talk to him, he would always be to busy with something.
`Now Daddy won't hate me anymore and maybe now he'll be more happy.' Haruka thought with a smile on her face. Suddenly she heard footsteps coming down the hall and she quickly darted towards the closet making sure not to spin the chair. She slid inside on one of the shelves and closed the door. `Please don't let them find me.' Haruka chanted in her head over and over.
The door creaked open and a burly guard peaked through the crack. "The barbers must have left the light on. I'll just lock it up for the night." He flicked off the light and locked the door behind him.
`Oh no! He locked the door and the lock is on the other side. What am I going to do?' Haruka screamed in her mind. She got up out of the closet and checked for other places to get out of the room. She checked every nook and cranny and hadn't found any hope for an exit.
`Mommy is going to be mad at what I did and Daddy will be mad I used his scissors without an adult around.' Haruka panicked when she thought about the consequences. `Maybe Daddy wont be happy that I cut my hair and maybe he'll hate me even more.' At this Haruka started to bawl and a moment later the door was unlocked and one of the person peered inside.
It was one of the maids who worked late at night. "Oh my! How did you get locked inside here? What happened to your hair? Oh Dear…I'd better get you to your mother." With this said the woman quickly scurried Haruka to her parent's room. The woman knocked on the door and there was a grumbling from inside and then the shuffling of feet was heard.
The door opened and there stood a grumpy, tousled man. Hard to believe it was the king but as soon as he saw Haruka his eyes grew into saucers. "WHAT THE HELL DID YOU DO TO YOUR HAIR!?" He yelled at Haruka. Haruka then started to sniffle and then burst out into a full-blown attack of waterworks.
Taken back by this, Haruka's father stepped back with a lost look on his face. "What is it dear?" Sora quietly asked and Haruka pushed past her father and ran full speed towards her mother. "What did you do to your hair?" Sora asked Haruka. Haruka just sniffled and Sora gave her husband a cold look.
"I didn't do anything." He said to try and defend himself. "I asked her the same question." "You should watch your tone mister." She said dangerously. "We'll fix this in the morning. Let's go to sleep." She said to Haruka. "You, on the other hand will sleep in the guestroom." She said to her husband. "What? You can't do this to me. I'm the king." He said. "Well not at the moment you're not. Now go to sleep before I extend your vacation." He unhappily complied and left the room grumbling all the way down the hall.
(That was stupid but my muse runs wild.)
The next morning at breakfast, they were all eating quietly and for once; Haruka's father was sitting at the table. There was a pause of silence before he cleared his throat. "I'll fix Haruka's hair and then I want to talk to you for a moment dear." He said.
After breakfast, he took Haruka to the trimming room to get her hair fixed. "Your hair is a mess. What made you think of cutting it in the first place?" He asked her after he sat her down in a chair. "I did it to make you happy." She declared and looked him straight in the eyes. "You don't need to do that to make me happy." He said a little shocked at the outburst. "I had to because you don't love me and I thought that if I made myself more like a boy you would like me more."
"I'm not mad at you. It's just…I was hoping for a boy and it turned out you were a girl, so I was mad at the world for a while until I came back to reality. You're never going to be a boy and I have to accept it." He said while cutting her hair to make it more even. When he finished Haruka looked more like a little boy than he thought she would look like. He then sent her off to play while he went to talk to his wife about his plan.
He found her sitting in a chair enjoying a book in the library. "What is it dear?" She asked him not taking her eyes off her book. "Well uh…ehem. I think well…" "Yes. Spit it out." She said impatiently to get back to reading her book. He sighed took a deep breath and then let it out. "IthinkweshouldhaveHarukabetrothedtotheprincessofneptune." After letting it out he took a deep breath for what he knew was coming next.
"WHAT! YOU KNOW WE CAN'T DO THAT! HARUKA IS A G-I-R-L! SHE CAN'T MARRY THE PRINCESS!" She said angrily to his face and dropping her book in the process. "All she needs to do is to marry her, then divorce her." He said trying to say it calmly. "You're doing this for the dowry aren't you!?" She asked him.
"…Yes I am doing it for the dowry. We NEED that money because our kingdom is going bankrupt. What do you want me to do kidnap their child and demand money? That would just start a war and we both know our kingdom doesn't have an army." He explained. "But there are other ways to get money. We don't have to put her through the torture of marrying someone for no reason at all except money."
"Yes, but this is the easiest way. She doesn't need to be married for very long." He said trying to sound convincing. "…" She was quietly thinking for a moment and then gave a quiet response. "Alright but only if Haruka agrees. If she doesn't then we find a different source for money." His face brightened like a burden was lifted from him and went find his daughter.
After he left, she let out a big sigh. `What have I gotten myself into?' She thought to herself.
He found her playing in the pond out in the back and walked up to her. "Haruka dear," He said in a pleading voice. "Daddy needs to ask you for your help." At this Haruka's ears perked up and she stopped playing to listen to him. "What is it?" She asked. "Well Daddy wants you to do him a favor. It would really make me happy." The last sentence made her even happier. "I want you to marry someone for Daddy and you have to pretend to be a boy. Will you do it?" He asked.
"Yea of course Daddy. If it makes you happy I'll do it." She said happily. "That's my girl. Now let's go get you some new clothes and we'll leave in three days to meet your soon to be bride." He said cheerily.
An: Little kids are so easy to manipulate. Okay R&R. The next chapter the two will meet and there's a little twist to getting the dowry. More reviews quicker typing…yea
