Chapter 5 - Special Place Within

A distant voice echoed out of the shadows, "Its almost time soon she will be within this realm. Then we can finish what we started. Her legend will once again be brought to life, and I can finally see her again…

With that the figure stood and disappeared in a flash of blue light.

The street ended as I walked and on the other side stood a gate of many years. Rusted and creaky it seemed to be the entrance to a deserted land of death. But despite its horrendous appearance it was a sanctuary one of lustrous beauty and awe. Days seemed to last forever yet as they did end the nights seemed sent from the Gods and Goddesses of old. And if luminous shine should fall upon any a gentle warmth told the story of days long gone. Hence this heavenly place is called the Sacred Garden.

"Such beauty," the word escaped my mouth.

I followed a narrow path toward my secret spot. The path curved and twisted until I came across a sign stated I was headed to the shores of the Grand Bay. A small inlet from the ocean connected by the Omaya River. This sign was my landmark that told me to turn left into the thicket.

This was the worst part of the whole thing but it kept others at bay. I thrust in to the brush. Thorns tore at my arms as I shielded my face. Every cut burned but alas that was my punishment for being so selfish with this area.

Several yards later I found myself in a clearing. The grass was thick here and wild flowers abundant. But the most marveled thing was a large red wood. So big I could not even touch the tips of my fingers it I were to hug it.

The tree stood tall with its mighty branches stretched far and wide. The ticket surrounding it made it a loner standing on a hilltop gazing over everything. And so it was named the King ruling over its kingdom for all eternity.

I lowered my gaze with that thought and proceeded to climb the mighty king. I grabbed at the branches pulling my self up to the summit of the king were I could look over his crown to view the land like no other before.

Soon I reached up to a branch were I abruptly sat. Then with the ever most caution pushed on a leafy section of the tree. It moved! But more pressure was needed. I stretched out more and shoved with so much force I fell off the branch!

"Oh Shit!" I cried. My body fell victim to gravity as I began to fall grasping the edge of the passage before going to far. I tried to get a grip on the tree with my feet but my tennis shoes could not hold. My fingers ached as I began pulling myself up. My muscles were weak and the boards cut into my hands but despite that it was either get up or be seriously injured on the way down.

The choice was mine and it is pretty obvious what my decision was going to be. So with all my might I pulled and straining every muscle I had, reaching for the King's crown. Until finally reaching the goal previously set. Panting and in immense pain from previous wounds I lay on the wooden floor of my secret place.

I slowly sat up right and examined my hands and arms. My arms had nicks and cuts all over, which were sealing up nicely. But my hands were bleeding pretty badly in the palms and I needed to stop it. So once again I consulted my purse. Dumping the contents onto the floor I located my tissues hoping these would do. For they were all I had.

Pain raged through my arm as I applied pressure to the wounds. Clenching my teeth I wrapped several around my palms tying the temporary bandages best I could. Once done I looked back over to the whole in the floor that initially save my life but got me into the trouble in the first place. Sighing I placed the cover back concealing the whole.

I began observing my surroundings. The place hadn't changed at all indicating my secret was still safe. The area was located in the crown of the King. And was made of old plywood I had been sneaking in for more than a year now. So of course every thing was uneven leaving gaping holes every were the boards unevenly sat. But despite all its flaws it was very cozy.

Once a surveillance had been done I proceeded to the northern corner to gaze the majestic bay. The wind rustled the trees and the sun shined on the glistening water that everything revolved around. I enjoyed coming here it was a place of serenity and relaxation, high above the noise of cars and children. Which for the most part is why I decided to build it.

My thought fell from the heavenly land as a throbbing sensation came upon. The blood was beginning to harden under the tissue entrapping the cottony soft sheet. Sighing once more I proceeded to free the prisoner gritting my teeth the whole way. Once removed I tossed the blood stained sheet aside observing my wound.

Brown, crusty and hard it seemed to actually be pretty small! I had thought I slashed it open deep. But I guess I bleed excessively. Ah I don't know. It just… well hurt!

Glancing around I noticed all my stuff strewn around from my frantic searching. So on I went gathering my things making sure all the junk was there. Everything was there including some extra items. Probably placed by mother.

I leaned back resting myself on the King's center. Looking at the kingdom before me. And slowly faded into a daydream.
