Sailor Moon Fan Fiction ❯ Phoenix ❯ The Arrival ( Chapter 3 )
Disclaimer: I do not own Sailor Moon, nor do I want to own Sailor Moon. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
Before I get started with this I just want to describe something from the last chapter. The lightening shield does not look like the round shield you're most likely thinking of. Imagine a glove, without the things for the fingers. This glove starts just below the elbow and stops at the first knuckle. On the back of the hand, not the palm, there is a green disc. The straps I mentioned do not exist, I was tired when I wrote it and lost my train of thought. The shield can be a dome, a sphere, or the traditional disc; just so you know, it's green.

Chapter 3: The Arrival
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Skywatch HQ, Tokyo, Japan
"Sir?" the intern said, "There's something on the radar. It's a bit big for a meteor."
"Alright, I'm coming," Col. Roy Wesher said in an irritated voice. He hated the newbies at Skywatch. In his opinion this was a place for serious work to be done. Their job was to track all objects moving through the skies over Japan. All objects, no exaggeration.
He stepped up behind the blonde woman and looked over her shoulder. The advanced radar showed an object about 6 feet long and 15 feet wide, at its widest. Where it was thinnest was at the end, about 8 inches wide.
"What do you think it is?" the intern asked turning her head to look at him.
"I don't know," the Colonel said as he squinted to try and get a better shape out of it. "Do we have any kind of visual lock on the object?"
"No sir, it's moving too fast."
"Dammit," he turned around and walked to his computer. He typed in a few codes and the radar image appeared on the large screen on the wall. Picking up the PA microphone he said, "This object will, until it lands, be the center of all your work. No one here will leave until we know what it is."
"Yes sir," the group answered not looking up from their scans of the object.
"Sir! It's adjusting is angle of entry, like it knows the safe way!" one of the older scientists yelled, he was having the time of his life with this.
In the sky above Japan
Phoenix played around, smiling, on the solar winds now blowing against him. It was more fun than he thought it would be. He swerved, banked, and barrel-rolled from one blast of wind to the next, feeling the heat build up around him. Looking down he saw his destination, the gray region on an otherwise green island, Tokyo. This is what he had been waiting for for so long, he could hardly believe it was happening.
`The first thing I'm gonna do is see her,' he thought, there was too much heat to speak outright. `Maybe I'll freak out the news a bit first.' He smiled wider and folded his wings back, adjusted his angle, and dove straight down.
The Earth rushed at him with incredible speed. He felt the strange rush of adrenaline in his veins; strange because he never felt it before. Maybe it was because what he was doing was such a rush. When he finally cleared that part of the atmosphere he spread his wings and just soared in large circles over Tokyo.
"This is fun, now, where to touch down?" he looked around at the large city. A few parks, and a lot of buildings. One building stood out in particular. Large and red, it looked like a, slightly, smaller version of the Eiffel Tower; Tokyo Tower. "That has some possibilities," he smiled wide enough for his over-sized canines to show.
Back at Skywatch
"Sir, we have visual," one of the technicians said from his workstation.
"Put it up on the screen then," Col. Wesher said through gritted teeth. Nothing had gotten this close to the city without being identified before. Now they would see what it is.
The image flickered on the screen and the technician pushed a blue button on his console. The sharpness on the screen was increased. Everyone gasped when they saw what it was, the Colonel, on the other hand, dropped his coffee.
The image was of a boy who, by looking at him, was aged between 18 and 25. He wore no shirt, just a pair of red baggy pants, tucked into black boots. Strapped to his back and hips were three swords, and on his right hand was a strange black glove. Oh yeah…he also had large wings protruding from his back.
Upon seeing this, the Colonel spit out his coffee all over the screen. "Impossible," he said in a slow whisper, nothing they had seen could even come close to matching this. This was possibly the most important find in the history of the word. A million thoughts rushed through his head as to what it might be. Well, maybe not a million, but a lot.
"Shall we take pictures of him, Sir, or video?" the blonde intern asked, she was a little slow.
"Video," he answered though no sound came out of his mouth. He was still in shock, as was everyone else, except for the intern.
They all watched as he banked left, then right, adjusted his angle and barrel-rolled the next few dozen feet straight down. This was so amazing that none of them wanted to stop watching. There was another reason the Colonel watched him; he knew this person from somewhere, but he couldn't remember where, or when.
In the park near Tokyo Tower
All the Sailor Scouts/Senshi (whatever) sat in the field enjoying a picnic. Hotaru and Rini were playing some sort of a game of tag in the field. Haruka was constantly looking up the sky, and no one but Michelle knew why. She was still watching for Phoenix to show up. They had seen him pass over their apartment building last night; everyone else thought it was shooting star. Hotaru did not remembered him, though, she should.
Then the shadow of what appeared to be a large bird passed over them. Haruka yelled and jumped up, pointing at something in the air.
"There he is!" she yelled still pointing. "I knew he would be here!"
"Is that why you threatened to kill him?" Michelle said under her breath.
They all stood up and looked into the sky where Haruka was pointing. Rini and Hotaru stopped running around and looked up. They all saw it this time, it looked like an angel. The wings on it though were getting smaller and smaller, until, they were gone. Whoever they were watching dropped from a height of six-story building, and landed on his feet.
He stood there, arms held out to his sides, his heels together, and his head held back. Then he just dropped straight back onto his back, and laid there smiling up at the sun.
"Who is he?" Serena asked looking at the small smile on his face.
"What is he?" Mina asked looking him over. "All I can tell is that he is gorgeous!"
"You don't know who he is?" Hotaru asked walking up behind them. They all shook their heads.
"Hotaru, do you remember him?" Michelle asked curiously, trying to keep from hugging Phoenix till he turned blue. Hotaru nodded. "Who is he then?"
"He is the son of Queen Serenity, the most power force in the galaxy, the immortal," she walked over to where Phoenix lay and looked into his face. "He is Phoenix."
"So you do remember?"
"I didn't, until I saw him fall from the sky."
Ami was, on the other hand, sitting quietly on the far corner of the picnic blanket, looking at the ground. She knew him from somewhere, sometime. The memories were just out of reach, until she shut her eyes tight and concentrated.
Suddenly she was bombarded with memories, images, feelings, and visions. Her head snapped up, her eyes opened, and she leapt from behind the group to land on Phoenix's chest. Bringing her face close to his she kissed him. The earring in her right ear began to glow, and so did the one in his left ear.
She sat up and saw that his eyes were open, staring up at her. Pale green boring their way through her deep blue. She also noticed that his smile had widened slightly. Running one of the hands that she had on his cheek through his hair she silently thanked the gods he was back.
"I missed you too," he said smiling wide enough again for his `fangs' to show over his lower lip. He looked around at the stunned faces. "It's good to see you again, Sister," he said to Serena.
"You still owe me that fight, ya know?" Haruka said with a smile that really didn't suit her.
"Yeah, I remember," he laughed getting up. "Just cause I'm a thousand years older, doesn't mean I'm an old man." He laughed again, and blocked a punch Haruka threw at him. She laughed and sat back down. Then he got serious and said; "There are few days of peace like this left. By calling her out, I only bought us five days, a week at most."
"Her?" Lita asked opening the picnic basket to see if he wanted something to eat.
"Yes," he looked somewhat surprised, so far only the Wise Man was their only male opponent that wasn't working for someone else. "You seem surprised."
"I'm just surprised that you know it's a her," Lita retorted after she retrieved the pile sandwiches. "Now, to switch the conversation over to something less intimidating, would you like something to eat?"
"Yes, please," he answered as he practically inhaled the sandwich she gave him. He laughed after that and said, "A thousand years without food does that to a person." He was trying to act natural, they didn't remember him yet, but they would in time.
"Why did you call me sister?" Serena asked with a dumb look on her face. **Everyone standing does anime style fall, with legs straight up.** "What?"
"You still don't remember?" he asked looking her straight in the face. She gave him a blank stare and threw his hands up, "Why do I even bother?"
"Hotaru called you Queen Serenity's son, what did she mean by that? I don't remember having a brother."
"She called him your mother's son, be cause he is," Haruka said getting annoyed by Serena's airheadedness, again. "He is your brother, do you understand now?"
Before Serena could answer, Phoenix stood up and started walking away. For some reason no one seemed to mind except for Ami. Well…Rei and Haruka had annoyed looks on their faces, Serena still had that blank stare, Mina was drooling at his muscular back, Lita was trying not to notice it, and Darien just had a smug look on his face. Oh yeah…Michelle and Hotaru were telling Rini about Phoenix, her uncle.
"Where are you going?" Ami asked running after him.
"You recovered just fine, it's the other five I'm worried about. I don't want to force the memories on them, forgetting was hard enough," he said without looking at her.
"Oh," she looked at her feet while she walked. "Um, this isn't New York, you can't exactly walk around like that." She poked at one of the scars on his arm. "Where did you get these anyway?"
"The shield allowed inorganic objects to pass through it, so I couldn't get out," he said looking down at himself. "Several large meteors and asteroids were pulled towards mine and crashed."
"Wouldn't you die if that happened?"
"Nah, I'm the supreme power of the galaxy, I can't be killed by flying chunks of rock," he laughed. He was hoping that little joke would make her laugh, but didn't work. She just looked more worried about him. "Look at it this way, I don't have to go back there, ever."
At this she smiled and he felt his knees almost give way.
"Come on, we need to get you some clothes," she grabbed his arm and started leading him down the street. "I know a great place to shop."
(I know, Ami knowing a place to shop, WAY OOC, but hey, A/U.)
"I just need one shirt and one pair of shorts for now," he said practically getting dragged behind her. "Are you listening to me?"
She wasn't.
"Now, we need to get you a few shirts, some shorts, probably a couple pairs of pants…" she went on and on about this. Phoenix figured she must be hyper from the onrush of memories.
"Mommy, Mommy," a little girl said tugging her mother's arm, "that boy has wings, Mommy."
"No he doesn't, now stop calling attention," he mother snapped at the girl. For lack of a better word to describe this women, she was hot, no other word could describe her. She wasn't quite perfect, but she was almost it. He then realized she was apologizing, "I'm sorry, she's not usually like this."
"It's okay Miss," he said before suddenly getting dragged off again. "Dammit, Ami, where the hell are we going."
"You'll see," she said with a smile as they waited at the crosswalk. The wasn't the side of her he knew. She was usually the center of calmness and logic, but she was acting like a (again for lack of a better word) horny schoolgirl. It was creeping him out.
"Alright," was all he said before, again, the feeling of having his arm ripped off set in.

I hope you like this chapter, now that this is finished I'm gonna go work on the final chapter of my other story. As always R&R, please, I need to know what you think, please. The next chapter might be a little long; it begins with them shopping and ends with the enemy's arrival. I'm calling it `The Few Days of Peace', do you like it? That's part of the reason it's long, got to span a few days worth of events. When you're done here, please check out my other story `The Reaper'; in the Zoids section.
Thank you
