Portrait Of A Princess (Venus)
Chapter 5
It had been a week since her punishment had been enforced. The only times she ever saw her friends was during the two hours training on Mars and even then they were to busy to exchange words and symapathies. She was locked to the castle every night, while her parents attended balls and parties, forced to eat in her room with the only company being her maid.
Minako hated it, she hated feeling like a caged bird, she hated not being able to see her friends and go to the balls. It was awful, a punishment that tore at her heart and left her weak and unable to fight. The punishment ending when she was married to Sir Glen, the wedding was in the midst of being planed. All details must be worked out plans made then she would be married and her punishment would end.
Or would it be worse? Would she go from one punishment for her behavior to an even worse one?
" I hate this," Minako sighed crossing her arms over her chest and sighing. The night air was cool tinged with a bit if cold ice, she had escaped from her room. Climbing out the window down a rope tied from her blankets, she stood leaning agaisn't the cool stone walls, glass windows on either side of her.
" What do you hate?" A voice asked from her left side.
Minako turned to see Yaten standing a little ways off from her. She had been so deep in her thoughts that she had never even seen him coming towards her.
" What are you doing here?" Mina asked, excitement brewing up inside her.
Had he come to confess his love for her? Wait why would he love her? He just had met her but prehaps it was love at first sight and Mina could deal with that. He was very handsome but his attitude needed to be worked on.
" If you think it's some star crossed love thing your wrong," Yaten replied breaking the train of her thoughts.
Euphdora fell of Mina's face and she was back to her saddened state.
" I don't know what your talking about," Minako said stiffly wrapping the shawl around her tighter and looking back towards the forest.
Yaten smiled and edged closer to her till they were side by side, he then leaned back on the wall and looked out in the distance too,
Heat rushed into Venus's cheeks has she stared at the man next to her from the corner of her eye. His profile was soft in the night, almost feminie but his eyes captivated her, they were a soft green color so bright.
She shivered at her thoughts and turned away has Yaten caught her gaze from the corner of his eye a smirk on his face.
" You really shouldn't be here," Mina whispered clutching her shawl all the more tighter around her body.
" I'm sorry that I insulted you in the gardens and then caused you more pain with your punishment," Yaten replied saying the words that had been weighing on his mind.
Mina looked up at Yaten, he was looking up too but to the stars in the sky.
" You had no idea who I was when you came upon me in the garden," Mina said softly following his gaze to the stars.
It was Yaten's turn to look down at her, her eyes were darker and a dusky color glowed in her cheeks.
" I had no idea a princess had problems in her life," Yaten replied just has softly.
" Well now you know, a princess doesn't live a care free life where she does has she pleases and charms every man into loving her," Mina shot back, remebering his words to her in the gardens. Then realizing how bitter she sounded she softened her tone.
" I'm sorry, I have no reason to be in anyway mean to you. I should be thanking you for saving me," Mina added turning to Yaten a smile on her face.
" Your apology is accepted but I have a question I wish to ask of you," Yaten replied still looking up at the sky.
" Yes? What is it?" Mina asked leaning back from him a little.
" Who was that man that did this to you?" Yaten asked picking up her bandaged wrist and looking into her eyes.
Mina looked down at the white cloth that glowed softly in the starlight, then to the hand that was clasped around her arm, just above the bandage. A blush spread in her cheeks, the skin seemed to almost burn where he touched her.
" His name is Sir Glen, he is my fi--" Mina stopped suddenly realizing that if she told him who Sir Glen was he might back away from her and the sea of emotions inside her would die.
" He is a friend of my father, the king," Mina hastily replied trying to cover up her original words.
" I find it shocking that a friend of your fathers would do something quite like that," Yaten said rubbing her wrist with his thumb.
The almost gentle motion caused the blush in Mina's cheeks to burn even brighter.
" Yes well you don't know who to trust in your lifetime," Mina replied laughing shakily.
Yaten only gave her a weird look but a small smile was on his face.

Minako watched has he ran back towards the woods where he had come from. It was growing late and he must return to the Moon before he was discovered missing and even worse discovered on Venus.
Before he had left the two had made plans to meet again the next night under the balcony. The meeting had left her feeling light headed and giddy, he professed no romantic notions toward her but she could easily fall in love with him, if he lost some of the bitter irony in his words.
Her bedroom was still in the darkness of the night has Minako walked back in, a guard stood outside her bedroom door during the night so she was extra quiet to close the windows and step over the tiled floor to her bed.
The rope of blankets must be untied and folded away again so there would be no suspiscion and she must quietly undress and brush away wet grass and dew from her clothes lest anyone discovered where she had gone at night. Still these were minor things to the fluttery feeling in her heart that brought a smile to her lips.
The night was wild when she walked into the forest that night. A wind tore through the trees scattering leaves around her, her shawl was wrapped tightly around her bare arms, meant more for modesty then for warmth. It wasn't that cold, nor was it hot but more of a cool yet comfortable night.
Everynight they had meet under the balcony of Minako's room. Sometimes she was late getting out waiting for the castle to loose itself in slumber but he was always there when she slipped down. Then they would talk for hours about anything, he described his planet and the people and she in turn talked about hers. Pointing out the mountins in the distance that were volcanos, talking of the moons. Soon that moved on to more about themselves, they talked about their choices in books, food, music, and their friends. Everynight she retired to her room after being with him she fell more in love, he was a callous, cold person on the surface but underneath he showed a little more warmth.
She hoped it was the same for Yaten, she hoped he was falling for her but she was unsure. In the beganing from the second meeting on, she would take care to fix her appearance before seeing him, wearing a nice dress and putting her hair up in a fancy look. Then around the 5th meeting he told her to stop, his words were simple telling her to stop putting on a fake apperance and to be herself it was not impressing him to see her all dressed up.
From then on she wore simplier dresses and left her hair down, tied back in it's red bow, always bringing a shawl with her but not always wearing it. This pleased her more, she had to admit that she found it almost cumbersome to dress up just to sit in the wet grass and look up at the stars.
Tonight was diffrent, Yaten had asked her to meet him in the woods. Something she was a little surprised at but had agreed lest he stop seeing her. So now she stood in the middle of a circle of trees looking around for any sight of him.
There was flash of light to her left then darkness, Mina turned toward it but saw nothing in the trees. Then there was another flash across from her, but when Mina looked there was nothing.
" What is going on here?" Minako muttered to herself looking around for Yaten.
" Fireflies," was the reply.
Mina looked toward the direction of the voice, Yaten was walking into the circle of trees. Yet these couldn't be trees thet were glowing with a soft yellow color. Each leaf was lit up and shining brightly and has he entered the forest the trees on either side of him would lite up until the forest was alight with light.
" What is this?" Minako whispered looking all around her in awe.
" There fireflies, from the Earth," Yaten replied walking up to her and opening his closed hands. Two small firelies rose and flew away towards the trees, their lights flickering on and off.
" What was it that gave you this idea?" Minako asked alittle while later. They sat under one tree side by side but not really touching. The fireflies still burned on but their light was dimmer now.
Yaten looked up at the sky, almost seeming to drift off has he thought back to the Earth.
" The Queen Terra led me one night into a garden. It was a perfect circle of trees with the greenest grass I had ever seen in the middle that led to a lake. She told me to stand in the middle of the clearing and close my eyes. I walked forward while she stayed behind and I closed my eyes, almot imeaditly I could feel a warmth caress my face and when I opened my eyes the trees were light up. When I asked her what made them do this she told me."
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ *~*~*~
" They are fireflies, a native of the Earth. I see your fascination in them."
I looked all around me, thousands of lights twinkling on and off reflecting off the lake swirling all around me. Then I looked at the Queen, she was watching me, her hands folded in front of her, green eyes watching me softly.
"Why is it that you show me this?" I asked beganing to feel confused.
" She will love it," was the Queens only reply before she turned away from me and began walking out of the forest.
The fireflies on either side of her faded out until there was nothing but the darkness again and the sounds of the night and all along I stood there confused and unable to understand.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* ~*~*~*~*~*~*~
" I never really understand what she mean't by 'she' until I started visiting you. Even then it came to me slowly until I finally I could understand it's meaning."
" What is it's meaning?" Mina asked softly.
" I can't tell you, it's to personal to understand," Yaten replied propping up one leg and resting his elbow on it.
Mina looked away from him to the ground, silence drifted between them has both stayed in their own worlds. Then Mina stood up and walked forward to the middle of the clearing, Yaten watched her without saying a word. She stopped and looked up to the trees seeing the flickering lights then lifted her arms and began to spin. Faster and faster, her blue skirt rippling around her mixing with the white knit of her shawl, then she began to rise higher and higher into the air. Still turning around and around her eyes closed to the sights, Yaten mearly sat below and watched her rise into the air.
She could feel her body turning around and around, a slow lesiurly pace that twirled her hair around her body and covered her face.
'All my life I've wanted to fly.'
Mina opened her eyes and looked around her, she was floating in space, the stars surrounding her shining so brightly. Mina brushed away the strands of hair covering her face and looked into the distance. The Moon was shining like a pearl in the night surrounded by the other planets.
It all became clear to her when she looked at the moon, Minako spread her arms onto either side of her and flew forward. The other planets flew past in a blur of colors but in her minds eyes she could see each one. The darkness of Pluto, the waves of the Oceans of Neptune, everything has she flew into the darkness surrounding the moon.
A drop fell and the water rippled around it, her feet never touched the surface has she drifted down. Her skirts following floating softly and spreading out around her, gone was the blue replaced by white. An simple pattern of cloth and embrodiery that swirled around her body and extended into the bodice. The cloth clung so tightly to her skin without the aid of straps, the intricate pattern of clear beads picking up flashes of light. Blond hair loose and curling, beads strung through, a choker of glass and rainbows around her neck.
This was the sight she presented has she looked over her shoulder at the pressence behind her. Yaten stood slightly away, hands stuffed into his pockets, eyes studying her has she turned around and faced him. A piece of moonlight choose this moment to flash on the stones of her necklace, shining blue the color of her eyes and shining through the beads in her hair.
No words were spoken between the two, Yaten could only stare at the girl standing in front of him. She in turn could only stare back at him, he was dressed in a pair of black slacks and a white loose shirt left open at the throat over which a black coat hung open. Mina's eyes wandered to his throat, seeing the bare skin reveled there, the gentle beat of his pulse that seemed to stir it. A blush stained her cheeks at the sudden intamicy of her thoughts, she tore her eyes away from his throat and allowed them to focas on his.
It was a goddess that he walked too that night, never breaking away from her gaze. With smooth calculated steps he stopped in front of her and reached for her hand, another blush stained her cheeks has he bent over it and brushed the back with the gentlest of butterfly kisses.
" May I have this dance?" Yaten asked looking up at her through his eyelashes.
Music drifted down from the heavens playing softly, a tune with no words but it's meaning so clear.
Lost of words, Mina simpaly nodded bringing Yaten to his feet and taking her into his arms. He took her bare hand firmly into his own, she placed her other hand on his arm while he held onto her waist. At the same moment they looked into each others eyes and began to dance, skimming the surface of the water leaving ripples that extended into the night.
She closed her eyes and let the music take her away, he watched her lights growing in his eyes at the sight of her. She opened her eyes again and looked into his own, smiling has they danced over the glass surface. Farther into the night on the horizon a streak of color burst in the air followed by another until the sky was filled with fireworks. They stopped dancing and looked toward the horizon their faces bathed in the colorful lights.
'Love was when I loved you.'
This statement floated with the music it's meaning becoming clear to him. Yaten looked sideways at the womyn beside him, golden lights bathed her face picking up the sparkles in her hair. She was beautiful, there was no other way to describe it but to say he was falling in love with her.
" Minako, I," Yaten faltered stopping unable to say the words.
Mina looked toward him, puzzled by his sudden lost of words.
" What is it Yaten?" She asked breaking the silence.
He turned to face her, taking her hands into his own his fingers winding their way through hers.
" Minako, I can't say what I want to say to you. The time is right but someday it might be," he whispered reaching up and touching her cheek.
" I hope that day will come soon," Minako replied just has softly.
He smiled at her, his hand gliding over the smooth skin of her face down to her lips running over them tugging at the corner of her mouth. A blush stained the creamy smoothness of her skin, his hand moved up running over the redness of her cheeks. Her eyelids grew heavy till they closed on their own accord, his first kisses light has air on her lips. She opened her eyes just a fraction, he held her face in both his hands and he was looking at her but when he saw her staring back he closed his eyes and kissed her.
His kisses were light and sweet making her heady and weak, of their own accord her arms slid around his neck drawing him closer to her has he wrapped his own arms around her waist.
In the distance the fireworks blossomed in the nighttime sky.
The end? For now, yes. I'm sorry this took so long to write but I hope you enjoyed it. This will be the last chapter of Venus.
