Red Heat
I'm not native. I look around at my friends as we sit at our usual booth. I continue to slurp the cherry vanilla milkshake through my straw. I think I'm the most stoic of us. Although Ami does occasionally show me up. I listen to Minako make another comment about the joys of being in love. She is most likely talking about Usagi. I'm only half listing.
He is watching me.
I tire to ignore his persistent aura. We had long ago gotten our memories back, just a short while after we realized that Minako wasn't the princess but Usagi was. I'm not comfortable with my new knowledge. It isn't that fact that I remember how I died in the Silver Millennium or how I saw Serenity commit murder upon herself. No it was the fact that we were lovers…I can't even say that. We weren't lovers who met every night in a secret rendezvous. We were so much more then that, we were in love.
I never voiced this.
Oh how viciously he was taken away from me. Princess of Mars -though I died queen- , its protector it's Senshi. Although now I'm also Hino Rei and as Hino Rei I don't know what love is and my feelings towards him. I'm interrupted from my muse when I hear someone call me.
“Sorry, what was that Makoto?” She rolled her green eyes at me. I wonder how she feels about all this. Every time I ask her she would shrug indifferently. Minako always says that she will confront her past as soon as he stops snooping around her house and gets the guts to knock on the door. And Ami? She blushes and goes back into her book.
Although I notice she finds her book less interesting when her eyes become glazed with emotion. I don't know what the emotion is though. I'm not big on emotions.
“I said come on let's head on to the temple.”
“What about Minako, Usagi, and Ami?” Makoto just waves her hand in the air and I notice there is a new ring on her finger. An emerald stone and a white diamond. I want to ask about it but I decided not to. She does, after all, love jewelry.
“They went to get the movies. I'm supposed to bake a cake and you're going to help me.” I let out a light bubbly laugh. I almost forgot it was mine turn to help her with her famous cake and make the tea. Once a month we all get together at the shrine to unwind for the weekend.
“Well let's go.”

I'm sitting outside waiting for the other's to get here while Makoto takes a shower. It's actually quite hot today. I'm wearing a red dress. It isn't elaborate or fancy. It's plain and simple. It's a little form-fitting but I don't mind much. It reaches just an inch above my knees. It's a vee-neck and has thin straps. I had to have it. So I brought it. It went nicely with my necklace my mother gave me before she died.
I feel him behind me.
I guess it's time.
“Hello Jadeite.” He sits next to me. He reaches for my hand but I pull away. A boyish smile graces his face…actually it's more wolfish.
“Hello Pyre.” He gave me that nick name while everyone else gave me Pyro. He said he wanted a term of endearment that no one else had given me. Pyre in old age meanings meant magical fire.
“I'm sorry you know. I can't say it enough. Both times I failed you Mars. First in the Silver Millennium and then when Beryl was reborn. I've tried damn it! I've tired so hard, Pyre, to come back to you.”
“I know, although it changes nothing. I still believe that somehow you could have fought her mind control. You gave in too easily Jadeite. I don't blame you. I guess I'm still upset.”
He smiles.
“Look at me Mars my Pyre.” I don't I never submit to him. He doesn't submit to me either, it is this that keeps up our fire. He grabs my chin, Jadeite isn't a gentle person and neither am I. I'm harsh and clean cut but he can be gentle like I can be calm. I look at him and I'm sure he can see the fire that dances in my eyes. The red heat that engulfs my soul.
“I'll wait but not long. Do you understand me Mars?” I narrow my eyes even more.
“I'm called Rei now. You'll wait till I'm ready unless you have someone else taking up the offer.” He gives deep chuckle.
“Always such a jealous spit-fire aren't you...Rei.” He places a quick kiss on my lips then he leaves.
Ami, Minako, and Usagi are coming up the stairs.

I'm stirred awake by his presence. I look up around the room. I look over to my right on the bed and I see Minako still asleep. I then look to the sleeping bags on the floor. Makoto, Ami, and Usagi are still asleep. I get up and walk out the room. He is sitting in front the immense fire.
Oh! How I wish to burn him, which gives me masochist thoughts.
“They call this stalking.” He smirks.
“No, my love, they call it devotion.” I sit down on the floor next to him. I give the fire a quick bow of respect. He grabs my chin again in-between his fingers.
I love him.
But I want to be angry at him although I find it slowing if anything but abiding. He brings my face closer to his. Distant flutters of emotions reside in my heart. He kisses me. Our tongues battle's for dominance he tames mine. His kisses are hard and passionate. They are never gentle they always pour all of his energy.
I love his kisses.
He pushes me on my back and I try to protest but he will hear nothing of it. He grabs my mauve silk pajama pants and pulls them off of me.
“Jadeite…” I stop our kiss to speak his name. His azure eyes bore into mine.
“May I Queen of Mars, Rei?” He hasn't forgotten. No matter my Jadeite's harshness he respects me completely and fully. I am a woman of pride and honor. I am also a Miko.
This proves a dilemma.
“Jadeite this ruptures Miko rules.” He raises an eyebrow and swivels his hand in the air. A very familiar ring appears in the air. It's a Red Diamond with smaller amethyst and rubies gems stones embedded around the massive red hearted Diamond.
“Did you forget my love that we are already married? We vowed this life and the next. Our love is anything more then eternal.” He grabs the ring and places it on my finger. I don't know how my sharp eye had failed to notice his ring. It's made of the same substance of Venus' sword but held against the light a flame wraps around it.
“May I then my Queen?” I wrap my arms around his neck.
“You may my King.” He enters me and I feel that slight pain of my maiden hood being abolished. I think it's unfair to feel this pain twice in my entire existence. He thrust into me hard and fast. I bid him to do so.
“Jadeite!” his name falls from my lips and he bends his neck down to kiss me.
“Mars...” I'm happy. We continue this affair to the early morning of three.
The sacred fire has never shone so bright.
Author's Note's: I've tried to stay as Manga based as I could with a Rei/Jadeite story. Was it good was it bad? Should I write more General/Senshi pairings? Let me know.
I also write InuYasha fiction and one Fruits basket one-shot.
