Okay so I can't even finish a story the way I intended it to begin...
So sue me. --;
I'm really just revising this a little to go into a little greater
detail and make it a bit longer. *shrugs* No real reason. I didn't
feel that RH had reached it's potential with what I was doing.
There, now for the disclaimer. This story is an alternate reality
taking the characters from Sailor Moon and inserting them into a
different situation while remaining in their own universe. In essence,
I am screwing around with the story of Sailor Moon because I can. This
in no way reflects Naoko Takeuchi's version of Sailor Moon or the anime
version. However, I hold no claim onto Sailor Moon as that is owned
by Naoko, Bandai, Kodansha, Toei Animation, Mixx, DiC, Cloverway, and
I'm sure about 100,000 others. I am merely doing this for my own
sick amusement and once again, because I can.
And with that, I hope you enjoy.
~********************************************************** ***********~
Once upon a time, long ago and far away... That's always how fairy
tales seem to begin. But what you are about to hear is not a fairy
tale... No, this story did in fact happen and it did occur long ago and
very far away...
About 384,403 kilometers from the Earth if one wants to be exact.
But while this story did take place, it is not remembered by anyone at
the moment and probably won't be for a little while longer. It is not
recorded in any history books and is even too far fetched to be a fairy
tale. If anyone should happen to remember it before their time, they
would most likely think themselves to be insane and check into a
'nuthouse' as people tend to refer to asylums. It is a piece of
history, and sadly the most forgotten piece that was ever to have
occurred.
But now for that story...
Approximately one thousand years ago, there was a time that was then
known as the Silver Millennium. It was hardly a time of a perfect
peace, but during that time people lived on the moon in almost euphoric
harmony with one another. The moon was the center of all governing
powers and was ruled by an ancient monarchy dominated by females. This
queen did have a king, but he died early on in their marriage. As the
story is not about him, his death shall not be detailed and merely
mentioned.
This queen did bear her king a daughter before he died. This little
angel resembled her in almost every way save for the fact that her hair
shone with sunshine while this queen's did with the light of the moon.
Of course science would later discover that it was technically the same
light as the moon's light is really just a reflection of the sun, but
at that time, that was unknown to them at the time. Now it seems oddly
symbolic.
That princess grew up quickly, and as she grew, she had four protectors
who almost never left her side and loved her like a sister. They were
chosen from birth both by lineage and by the fact that they were born
with the symbol of their respective planets blazing on their foreheads.
Their power was unmistakable and training began immediately. And
eventually they grew into the legendary warriors known as the Sailor
Senshi of the Inner Realm or the Inner Senshi for short.
The leader was from Venus, a true beauty and filled with the light of
love. She was a happy girl, and perhaps a little flighty... But
deadly. She wielded the power of love for her duty and a heavy sword
quite well if the girl did say so herself. No one could have asked for
a better leader.
The next was a mysterious Martian who was the princess as well as the
head priestess on that red planet. She looked into flames and saw more
than just light and flickering embers... She carried those sacred
flames inside of her and sadly that gave her a mighty temper. But it
also gave the firebrand her power.
Then came the Jovan tomboy whose height and power made all shrink from
her. This girl was long considered strange just because of her height
(although she would be average had she stayed on Jupiter for all her
days) and she carried a heavy reckoning in thunder and fist alike.
This made even the most arrogant of men fear the green senshi. But had
those who feared her taken a moment to get to know her, they'd have
realized that she could also bake an excellent cake and about a
thousand other things.
And the last but certainly not least, was a Mercurial Genius. She was
born a mouse, but by the time she was grown she was a mouse no more.
She grew to have a dangerous strategic mind, but never gained the brute
force, strength, or power her fellow senshi possessed. She allowed the
others to take care of the offensive part of their little team. She
was more than happy to take on the defensive side and take her place as
a tactician.
The Inner Senshi rarely ever left the princess' side as they all
blossomed into beautiful young women. But they soon learned that they
could not always be at her side. For when she reached her sixteenth
year, she fell in love with a prince from Earth...
Now the moon and the Earth had never exactly been on good terms. The
Terrans both feared and envied the Lunarians for their power and
longevity. The Lunarians in turn sometimes grew annoyed with the
barbaric and undeveloped ways of Earth. They had never disagreed to
the point of war as the Earth desperately needed to protection of the
moon from opposing forces in the universe. But they would never call
themselves fast allies or friends.
Thus a love between a Terran and a Lunarian was strictly forbidden.
Both courts looked down on the relationship when they learned of it.
Even the kind queen of the moon prohibited any contact with the two
planets for a time after that. The Prince had no way of getting up to
the moon, and the Senshi were instructed to keep a close watch on the
princess.
But as the saying goes, love conquers all.
Eventually the prince and the princess overcame their obstacles, and
they became almost inseparable. Try as they might, those closest to
the couple could not dissuade them from their love and all soon learned
that this was more than just a passing fancy. And so, one by one, they
allowed the Lunarian Princess and Terran Prince have their love and
blessed it. There was even talk of a treaty that would bind the Moon
and Earth together once and for all.
But there was one Terran who would not have it. She was a noblewoman
in the court of the Prince who had had her sights set on the prince as
soon as he had become a young man. She had been bound and determined
to be wed to the Prince as soon as possible, and this little alien
trollop was ruining her plans. She loved this man, but he loved
another. She prayed to Venus for council or help but it was as though
her prayers were scorned...
By some odd twist of fate that no one understands to this day, this
noblewoman, Beryl, eventually came into contact with the most evil
creation in the universe. This entity called herself the Empress
Metallia. Beryl, blinded by greed and desire for the prince, handed
over her body and soul to Metallia and became corrupted by her dark
power. Her very shape and appearance was changed, and she was granted
powers that were unimaginable. She was soon branded a witch.
That witch seemed to cast a spell on all of earth. Their resentment of
the moon escalated to a blinding, searing hatred and they demanded for
the kingdom to fall. Even those closest to the prince, including his
father, mother, and guardians demanded that they be liberated from the
moon's "oppressive" rule. Only the Prince managed to escape the spell,
his love for the princess saving his soul. He soon realized that
everyone he held dear on that blue planet had succumbed to Beryl's
magic, and he was hated by those he had once loved.
He fled to the moon in order to warn the queen of the impending doom
and hopefully see his beloved once more... Even if it was the last
time. He barely managed to warn the kingdom in time and joined forces
witht he Moon Queen, sealing their fate.
Shortly after his arrival, Beryl, Metallia, and the armies of Earth
attacked the Lunarian civilization. Word had not been spread past the
royal family and the inner court of the Earth's threat and they were
caught unawares during a grand ball. The armies of the moon soon fell
under the overwhelming power of Metallia and the Dark Kingdom.
Then the task of saving what was left of the moon was handed over to
the princess' guardians. They set their sights on the huge black mass
that was the Empress her sights and used all of the magic they knew how
to use. Try as they might, they did not harm this awful creature in
the slightest and after hours of trying and failing, they were killed.
The princess watched in horror as her guardians fell. Her only true
friends had been taken from her before her very eyes and she knew her
prince might die as well. She was torn between going to her friends'
prone bodies and going off to find her beloved, when Queen Beryl
appeared before her. She saw the princess as the one final obstacle
that prevented her from possessing the prince, and all she had to do
was get rid of her...
But in the end, it was the prince who stopped her from killing his
love. After refusing Beryl's advances and staying by his princess to
the last, the Witch Queen claimed that no woman would have the prince
but her. And so she cast him off to Metallia, knowing the empress
would take care of him soon enough.
The princess would not her love die alone. She ran towards him and
leapt into the air, allowing the unnatural winds of the Dark Kingdom's
power to carry her to her prince. They clasped hands for one last time
before they were both struck down by Metallia's power.
The queen saw her daughter dead, the guardians fallen, and her kingdom
in ruin. In an act of grief and desperation, she took up the source
of her fallen kingdom and her own power. That source is what is known
as the Maboroshi no Ginzuishou, the Mystical Silver Crystal. Then she
sealed Metallia and all her minions into that crystal, nearly killing
herself with the great release of power.
Now the queen was all alone, save for her two guardians, Artemis of
Venus and Luna of the Moon. The wise and loving monarch grieved for
all she had lost, but knew her tears must be put on hold until her task
was really done. In the queen's last moments, she sent her daughter,
her love, her friends, the guardians, and as many other children of the
Silver Millennium as she could into the future...
And the Silver Millennium truly ended when it's last queen died.
That queen was left without a body and was just an iridescent ghost
that walked the broken landscape of the moon alone. She spent one
thousand years planning the lives of the Sailor Senshi down to the last
detail so that they would be prepared when the time came for them to
awaken...
The plan had been for the senshi, the prince, and the princess to be
reborn on Earth so that they all might be of the same planet and share
yet another bond. They were supposed to be born and live their lives,
but not without a little torment. The Senshi Mercury would be shunned
for her genius and live in a broken home. Mars would lose her mother
early on in life to death and her father to politics. She too would be
ostracized, but for her strange and mysterious second sight. Both of
Jupiter's parents would be taken from her after a sufficient amount of
time had passed and she would be forced to live on her own. As with
the first two, she would not be easily accepted into life and feared
because of her great strength and temper. And Venus would be brought
into the world as an accident and be unloved by her parents so that
when the time came, she would be the first to be awakened by her old
friend, Artemis and would have no qualms with fighting alone. There
would be no valid reason for her separation from her peers and society,
but she would never belong. The prince was to be orphaned in a car
crash and live alone nearly all his life, constantly haunted by dreams
of his princess. The princess would leave a relatively normal and
happy life because of all others, she would suffer the most when she
grew up and the queen wanted her to have her happiness. One by one,
they would be found awakened by the guardians Luna and Artemis when the
Dark Kingdom returned.
However, that plan was quickly shot to hell by a certain Guardian of
Time. The woman had always been concerned to be a woman of tact, grace
and propriety. She had been revered in the Silver Millennium and until
one day, the queen had held her in high regard... They day for that
regard not existing came when the Guardian came to her and told her
that the plan royally sucked, pun intended.
And yes the word sucked was actually used.
After recovering from both the language and the statement, the queen
demanded an explanation. The visitor, never one to waste words, had
elaborated only a little. She said that Usagi too must suffer to
account for what she was to face in the future. And so the woman had
very calmly informed the queen that Usagi was to be put into a position
where she was abused nearly every day of her life in order to prepare
her for her hard future.
Her mother had been less than pleased.
But there was little the queen could do to stop it. Seeing as she and
her rule was long dead, there was very little she could do that had all
that much impact on what did and did not happen. So she had just
grinned and bore it, all the while knowing that her daughter was going
to suffer great pain because of the Time Guardian and whoever was
blessed with being her family...
And now, one thousand years from the day the Moon Kingdom fell, the
four guardians and the prince are well on their way to fully
awakening. They fight an evil they don't truly know as best they can.
They have no guidance due to a fatal mistake, and they have no real
leader or sense of direction. They search for the princess, but there
is no way they can technically look for her. The queen watches them
with a slight smile sometimes, wishing that she could somehow contact
them and show them the way so they might save her daughter...
The one thing that makes the queen not break every rule and law to do
so is that the time for when her daughter will join the senshi draws
closer with each passing day... It now looms on the horizon and soon
the princess shall be with her prince and her senshi once more...
"Soon," the long dead queen of the Silver Millennium repeated under her
breath as she finishes the last sentence, committing the tale of the
dead age to paper for the first time. She looked out to the earth,
tears brimming in her haunted eyes. And she said the one word that had
been holding her together all this time.
"Soon,"
~****************************************** ***************************~
Yes I know I switched tenses at the end there.. That was done on
purpose believe it or not. I just wanted to show a flaw in the queen
before I went on with the rest of my tale. She, like her daughter, is
not all that keen on grammar. ^.~ Also, we do switch from a tale that
happened in the past to present time... So yeah. ^^;
