Sailor Moon Fan Fiction ❯ Sailor Moon E(ternals) ❯ Their Past is Revealed. Mercury’s Star Lights Up the Sky ( Chapter 8 )
[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]
A/N: This is the last chapter I will be putting up for a while. My other file is on a computer that got fried. If I can save it, I will be able to continue on, otherwise it's going to take me FOREVER to retype everything. (I might use this as an opportunity to do a little more editing.) I will be continuing my other story (or stories), and I will TRY to get more up on this before I get a lot of my halted destiny up, otherwise there will be way too much given away.
Disclaimer: I do not own the Sailor Moon characters. Naoko Takeuchi has that illustrious honor. I do however own the villains, Sailor Sun, the unknown missing third senshi, and the story line I am writing about.

Chapter 8
Their Past is Revealed. Mercury's Star Lights Up the Sky
Flashback
“You wanted to see me, Father?”
“Yes, Meias. I have a surprise for you.”
“A surprise?”
“A young Lord is coming to the palace tonight to train in combat, so we are holding a ball in his honor.”
“Oh. Is that my surprise?” Princess Meias' face fell at the thought.
“Yes, but I thought you liked balls, my Dear.”
“Oh, I do Father, but only when my friends are around.” Studious by nature, the princess of Mercury found it uncomfortable to be the center of attention unless her cheerful friends were around her.
King Hermes smiled at his daughter. “Then I'm certainly glad I already invited them. They should be here in a few hours.”
“Oh Father! Thank you so much.” Princess Meias said, before running up to her room to get ready.
When she went downstairs later that evening, she saw her friends and made straight for them. She saw Princess Aren and Princess Serenity giving each other the cold shoulder, fighting over something, as per usual. She walked between them, putting her arms around both waists. “Come on, Aren, Serenity. Let's not fight. Let's have fun and be happy instead.” The Princesses Jovie and Afen grinned at Meias and joined the three in giggling and laughing.
One by one, the other Princesses were dancing with young Lords and Meias was sitting on the sidelines, once again. Her black thoughts were interrupted by a voice clearing. “Princess Meias?”
Meias looked up to see a young man made up in the fashion of a knight of Mercury; dark blue armor with white gold accents. The only change from the typical was the clasp at his should that was holding his cape on. It showed he was part of the Royal House of Aid Malthor of Mercury. “Ah, you are the guest of the evening?” she asked.
“Yes, Princess. Lord Merc Malthor, son of Aid of Mercury, at your service,” he said, taking her hand and placing a gentle kiss on it.
Meias' heart was fluttering in his chest. What an attractive man, she thought. “Pleased to meet you, Lord Merc. Please, call me Meias thought, not Princess.” The fluttering got stronger when Merc grinned at her.
“With pleasure,” he said.
Meias blushed and Aren and Serenity, who was passing the dais at the time, gave each other a knowing look.
End Flashback
Sailor Mercury looked at the young man, Kamen no Mercury and gulped. “Oh,” she said faintly. “Hello.”
He smiled and said, “Hi.” It was only after he greeted her back that Sailor Mercury realized something.
“Singo-chan?” she hissed, causing her protector to look at her in astonishment. She shook her head at her own stupidity. No use letting the enemy know their identities. “Let's go some place to talk…your room?”
Merc nodded and they took off, heading towards his dorm room. When they got there, Sailor Mercury asked him if he had a roommate. “No, it's just me.” Merc jumped through the window, which was still open. He threw his whip down and used it to pull Mercury up. She ended up right in front of him and Merc felt his stomach fluttering. She was so close that he could lean down and kiss her right then.
Mercury's whispered, “Arigato, Shingo-chan.”
Merc stepped off the sill and watched as Mercury did the same. “How did you know it was me?” That was close, he thought, quelling the sensation of disappointment at the thought.
Mercury started to answer, but was interrupted by a loud banging on the door. “De-transform and answer the door,” she said, quietly closing the window.
Merc nodded and let go of the power, allowing himself to change back into Shingo. He went to his dorm door and flung it open, trying to look like he'd been asleep. “Yes?”
A bright red haired man looked in. “Shingo, Man. Did I wake ye? I thought you'd be awake already.”
“Hmmm?”
“Did you no see the fire, Man?”
“I did, but I…”
“Good God! Who is that enchanting woman? Didn't know you had it in you, Man.”
“No…uh…” Shingo stammered, blushing furiously.
Sailor Mercury smirked, but her face was half hidden so the man at the door didn't see it. She said to Shingo in Japanese, “Who is that, Shingo-chan?”
Shingo flushed deeper, but said, “Jamie Murray from Scotland.” To Jamie, he said, “This is the Lady Sailor Mercury. She is a bit of a super hero in Japan. She and her companion stopped the fires. She knew I was Japanese and wanted to use me as a translator between her and the local police.”
“Oh? Well. Pleased to meet you, Lady Mercury.” Jamie turned to Shingo and said, “I'll leave now.”
When the door closed, Shingo laughed quietly while Sailor Mercury turned back into Ami.
“How did I know?” she asked, sitting on his bed. “You have blond hair, we spoke Japanese on the battlefield and you seemed to know me. Who else could it be, all things considered.”
“Ah...” I was hoping you wouldn't find out yet…
“You knew who I was thought?”
“Yes. I figured it out when I was given my powers.”
“How did you get your powers?”
“It's my birthright.” When Ami looked confused, Shingo shook his head and explained. “I saw the fire and was about to go out to help when a blackness over took me. I thought I passed out at first, but in reality I was transported to a white room where I met up with a sailor senshi in gold who called herself Sailor Sun. She told me I was yo…uh…part of your protection during the Silver Millennium.” Shingo blushed, cursing himself for almost giving away the fact that they had been lovers. “I now have all my memories and all my power.”
Ami noticed Shingo's slip and smiled at him, saying frankly, “You were going to say you were my lover during the Silver Millennium, weren't you?” Ami said this with only a little blush. She had learned a lot in the past four years and had worked through her shyness for the most part. This would be the first time in long time she blushed while talking about something like this. Of course, this is the first time I've been attracted to the person I was talking to.
“Uh…you remember that, huh?” At Ami's nod, he sighed. “I was hoping you wouldn't figure that out.” Shingo squared his shoulders and said, “Don't worry, Ami-chan, whenever you find the man you want to marry, I'll find a way to pass my power on to him.”
“But…”
“No, I insist. I will protect you until the time your true protector steps into the picture.”
“I told you…”
“I guess it wouldn't be Urawa though, but I'm sure you'll meet someone soon.”
“SHINGO!”
Shingo looked a little shocked at Ami's tone of voice, but blushed when he realized he at talked right over her. “Gomen, gomen, Ami-chan.”
“What makes you think I want anyone else to be my protector?” Ami had not had had to give it even three seconds thought. She realized in an instant that her feelings for Shingo ran deeper than they ever did for Urawa, deeper than the sisterly affections she claimed to Usagi and the group. A horrible thought struck Ami. “Or do you not want to be my protector?” Oh wouldn't that be perfect? A second man to not want anything to do with me. “I mean, I know you had a crush on me several years ago…”
Shingo mumbled, “It was more than a crush. That's beside the point. You deserve someone better than me.”
“Shingo…” Ami said desperately. “Please?”
“No. I won't argue with you anymore about it. Try and get some sleep. I'll be there to protect you whenever you fight.” Shingo leaned down and kissed Ami on the cheek and moved towards the door.
“Shingo-chan?”
“Hmmmm…?”
“Don't you want to stay in your own room?”
“Ah…yes,” he said blushing. “Do you want me to walk you home?”
“Shingo…” Ami looked at his face and bowed her head. “No, Shingo-kun, that's okay.”
Shingo nodded and closed the door softly behind him. Ami cried all the way home.

“YOU IDIOT!” Minerva screamed at Beniha. “YOU ALERTED THE PEOPLE THAT WE ARE HERE AND CALLED A SAILOR SENSHI OUT! WHAT IF SHE CALLS HER FRIEND IN TOKYO ABOUT US?”
“I…I assumed it was the same one.”
“TRUST ME, IT WASN'T. THE ONE I DEALT WITH IN TOKYO HAD FIRE POWER, NOT THE POWER OF WATER AND ICE!” Minerva threw out her hand, causing several spikes of metal to fly towards Beniha. “TAKE THIS CARD AND GATHER MIND SOULS TO MAKE UP FOR YOUR MISTAKE!” After Beniha disappeared, Minerva hung her head and said, “I'm surrounded by incompetent no-doers.”

By the time Ami had arrived back in her room, she realized some one had packed up her stuff. She knew what she had to do, but she had to find out where she had been moved. After she found out and got to her new room, she pulled a sheet of light blue stationary out of a box underneath her clothes and sat down at her desk to write a letter.
Dear Usagi,
I arrived here at school fine, but the computer had some sort of glitch and I was placed with an undergraduate student whose only purpose seems to partying. While I understand her need to have fun, I also know that college is not a place to just have fun with no studying. Luckily, it was changed fairly early so I only had to spend a few hours with the girl.
I'm actually writing you because of a dilemma I have. There is a guy I've known for years (and it's not Urawa if that's what you're thinking. He's getting married.) This guy has been in love with me for years, but there are some complications. He thinks I'm too good for him and he won't listen to me say otherwise. I would really like to try a relationship, but he won't listen to me say otherwise. I would really like to try a relationship, but he won't even consider it. Usagi, what should I do? I really like him, but I don't want to push him. Help me please, Usagi?
Forever Friends,
Ami
Ami read over the letter, shaking her head. I can't believe I wrote that. Before she could change her mind, she sealed the letter in an envelope and put it in the mail for the next day.
******************
Ami was working on a letter to her mother when her phone rang. “Hello?”
“We need Sailor Mercury at Liensman Dorm.” Ami heard the click of Shingo's phone, but she was already on her way to transform.
“MERCURY CRYSTAL POWER! MAKE-UP!” Once again, the icy water surrounded her, fading away to reveal the blue and white sailor fuku. She jumped through her window and was heading back towards Shingo's dorm to deal with whatever was happening.
As soon as she got to his dorm, she saw the problem at once. In front of the dorm was a demon that had on an outfit like Tuxedo Kamen's, except he had pencils instead of roses and book titled Fun with Funnels instead of a cane. “TORE-NOD-OH!” he shouted, aiming some pencils at students running into the dorm. One or two of them got hit with the pencils and they fell to the ground, screaming.
Kamen no Mercury was holding off this demon with ice shards coming from his hands. “Good to see you, Mercury.”
“You too, Merc.”
Just then, the demon opened his book and several students got swept up into small whirlwinds. “TORE-NOD-OH!”
“I was told,” Merc said, pointing his hands at the book, which closed, releasing the students, “that this is a professor. Do you know how to save him?”
Mercury took her stance, holding her hands cupped slightly in front of her, “Shabon…” She crossed her arms and twirled, throwing her arms out and released the bubbles that formed between her hands, “…Spray Freezing!” The freezing bubbles latched onto the monster and stopped him in his tracks for a few minutes. “I don't know what to do Merc. Sailor Moon has always been the one to heal the humans that have been turned.” Mercury closed her eyes in pain. She felt so useless.
When she opened them again, she saw a very frightening sight. The monster had thrown one of his pencils at Merc, whose back was turned towards the monster so he could comfort her. The pencil was heading right towards his head.
“WATCH OUT, MERC!” Mercury threw him down to the ground, covering him with her body. The pencil sailed past her ear and scraped her shoulder.
“MERCURY!”
“I'm fine. She said, wincing a little as she felt the scratch that had some sort of chemical making it sting.
Merc tore a piece of his cape off and dipped it into the puddle left by some of his ice shards. He used this to start cleaning up the scratch.
“Arigato, Merc,” she said quietly.
Merc stared into the blue eyes of the woman he loved and felt himself falling more in love with her. How will I ever be able to let her go? “Let's figure out a way to heal him, ne?
Mercury nodded and turned around. Her gasp should have alerted Merc, but he was frozen in place. Just like the students with the pencils embedded in their flesh and more importantly, the demon. “Wha…?”
“It's nice to meet you, Sailor Mercury.”
Mercury swung her head towards the voice and was standing at the ready to face this unknown. She saw a woman dressed in a gold fuku walking out from behind the demon. “Sailor Sun?”
She nodded and smiled. “Yes. I can heal your wound if you want.”
“Can you heal theirs?” Mercury asked, jerking her head in the direction of the students.
“I can heal all of you at once.” At Mercury's nod, she raised her staff above her head and twirled it in both hands in a “helicopter” fashion, “Sol…” She stopped it with the jeweled end pointing towards the sky, where a beam of sunlight hit the flat end and lit it up with golden light, “…Celestial…” With both hands, Sailor Sun held the staff in front of her, left hand over right and the flat, jeweled side towards the group of injured students and Mercury, “…Golden…” A bright golden light, remarkably like sunlight, burst from the flat side and rushed towards those needing healed, “…Aide!”
Mercury felt the warmth from the beam of sunlight hit her and the pain of the scratch disappeared. She looked down and saw the scratch was gone. “Thank you, Sailor Sun.”
Sailor Sun smiled and held out her hand. “Are you ready to take the next step in your evolution?”
“Of course.”
“I'll need your transformation stick.”
Mercury reluctantly handed over he stick and as soon as Sailor Sun had it, she lifted the blue, round ball from the top, and threw it to the ground. When she did, Mercury's fuku faded to her normal clothes.
Ami made a sound of anger but it was too late to stop Sailor Sun. Sailor Sun bent down and picked a blue object out of the shattered crystal. She looked at Ami and smiled, “You'll no longer need that transformation. You have this.” She held the jewel out to Ami and Ami saw that it was the same shape and size as the ginzuishou, except it is blue. “This is what powered all your transformations. Since it was in the stick, its power was dampened. Now it is at full strength, which you are finally able to handle. It is called the konpekizuishou, the Azure Crystal. It has power similar to the Silver Crystal, except it is distinct to Mercury.
When Ami touched the crystal, a white gold casing appeared over the jewel. The casing was in the shape of a heart, with Mercury's double horned symbol at the bottom, where the point of the heart was. Bubbles surrounded the top part of the heart and Ami rubbed those thoughtfully. She looked up, but noticed that Sailor Sun had already faded away.
“MERUCYR ETERNAL POWER! MAKE-UP!” The top of the casing flew off, revealing the shining blue crystal beneath. The konpekizuishou let off a bright flash of ice blue light and time slowed down as the light formed a stream of ice that molded itself around Ami's arms and lower legs, which were spread eagle. When the ice shattered, blue boots were on her fee and white gloves, with blue accents at the top, were on her arms. There were tiny bubbles near the elbows and wrists of the gloves. The ice now molded to her body, which she had crossed with her arms. Once again, the ice shattered, revealing the whit body suit with light blue arm guards, a light blue collar with a gold stripe, and a skirt in layers of blue on top, ice blue in the middle, and dark blue at the bottom. The back of her skirt was tied off with a long, thin, ice blue bow. The casing of her crystal was in the middle of her chest, surrounded by the bubbles and around her throat was a blue choker with a smooth lapis lazuli stone in the middle. The lapis lazuli was surrounded by whit gold and on her ears were a pair of white gold earrings with sapphires around the edge. Visible, just above the collar of her fuku on the left side of her body, was a set of three bubbles in the form of a tattoo. Instead of a tiara, the symbol of Mercury appeared on her forehead in blue. The light faded and Eternal Sailor Mercury was standing with her arms in front of her in a fighting position; her left hand in front, as well as her left food.
