Sailor Moon Fan Fiction ❯ Sailor Moon Elementals ❯ Memories Awakened ( Prologue )
[ A - All Readers ]
Setsuna walked in a dimly lit time corridor. She was going to the
past, for she had been having some dreams about one particular period,
and felt a strong pull towards investigating it. It was some time
since she last walked down this particular corridor, since she hardly
ever visit the past.
Suddenly, she tripped on something hard and fell to her knees. She
cried out, bracing her fall, hitting the ground with a thud. She sat
up, rubbing her knees, and looking behind to find out what had caused
her fall. There was a long silver staff thrown across the floor, much
like her own Time Staff, indeed, she had to look at her own staff to
make sure it wasn't the same one. Looking closer, she saw that the
other staff was silvery, with pink stones engraved on it. She looked
at the top of the staff and saw that it had something like her Garnet
Orb, but simpler, with a big pink gem in the center, and four smaller
ones around the lavender heart shaped frame, topped with a single
medium pink gem. Beside the staff, there was a body of a woman, with
one hand holding the staff. Setsuna asked herself, She made the Garnet
Orb glow, giving out light so that she could make out the woman on the
floor.
Setsuna recognized the signs of a long Sailor Stasis, a faint pink
glow around the body indicated that it had probably not been planned
by the woman. She wore a lavender to purple sailor fuku. The body was
purple, and so were the gloves, with pink rings at the elbows, and
purple boots (like Setsuna's) with lavender trimmings. The collar and
choker were also lavender and the bows were dark pink. The woman had
long deep purple hair (Like the girl from Nadesico Martian Successor)
and her tiara was silver with a purple gem. On the choker there was a
pin forming Pluto's planetary sign. Setsuna was troubled with the
planetary sign, for it left no doubt that the woman was from Pluto.
Her clothes indicated that she was a senshi, and the staff told her
that she could control time. But, as far as Setsuna knew, she was the
only senshi that could control time, and she had no relatives.
She crept closer to the sleeping senshi, and gently touched the gem in
the tiara with her staff, breaking the Sailor Stasis. At first, there
was no sign of movement from the woman. But she soon started to open
her eyes. To Setsuna's surprise, the woman sat up quickly when she was
fully awake, throwing her back. The woman looked at Setsuna wide eyed.
"S...Sailor Pluto?" She said, "is that you?" Setsuna looked at the
senshi in front of her, and nodded. "How much...How much time have I
been in Sailor Stasis?" The question was a bit out of context, since
'time' did not exist in the corridors, but it wasn't totally directed
to Setsuna either. Noticing the look on Setsuna's face, the senshi
blushed, standing up.
"I'm sorry, stupid question, never mind." She smiled, helping Setsuna
get up. "Who are you?" Asked Setsuna, uncertain. The senshi frowned.
"You don't remember me?" She looked hard at Setsuna, and at her fuku.
"Your uniform! It changed!" She looked at Setsuna's eyes. "From where
in the timeline do you come?" "The year 1999, Earth" Setsuna answered,
a little weary at giving out information to this senshi. This
information seemed to clear the senshi's mind, for she smiled. "Hi,
I'm your sister, Princess Charon a.k.a. the senshi who rules over time
and protector of Pluto's princess, Sailor Time" She posed momentarily,
holding her staff above her head and the other hand outstretched.
Setsuna stared at Sailor Time. Setsuna stared numbly at her sister.
Her sister! She didn't have relatives, for serenity's sake! (kinda
like for gods sake ^_^) Suddenly her mind was filled with hundreds of
images, snatches of her past life on the moon. It was like a bomb
going off in her head. She cried out, dropping her staff, clutching
her head and falling to the ground. Charon grabbed Setsuna, breaking
her fall, helping her to sit on the ground, worry streaked across her
face.
**********FLASHBACK**********
Setsuna was four years old. Chronos, her father, was walking with her
in Pluto's gardens to where her mother was, lying against a tree. She
had a baby in her arms who was sleeping peacefully. "Little one, this
is your sister, Charon," Said Chronos, kneeling beside Setsuna. "She
shall grow up to be Pluto's senshi, and you shall be Pluto's princess.
Each planet has a senshi and a princess." Setsuna held out her arms,
and her mother passed the infant child to her. On the infant's
forehead was the rune for time, on top, Pluto's planetary sign glowed
faintly.
**********FLASHBACK**********
"Setsun a, I'm sorry, your parent's didn't make it... I know this is
hard for you, but we will need a new time guardian." Queen Serenity
said softly to the fourteen year old princess. Setsuna fought back the
tears swelling in her eyes. She was the oldest, and she had to be
strong. "But Charon is too young!" She said. "That is true, and since
she's too young, I want you to become the time guardian, Sailor
Pluto." Said Queen Serenity. "NO!" Cried Charon, bursting into the
room, having overheard the news. "I've been trained all my life to be
the time guardian, I know I'm young, but that's ok!" "I'm sorry
Charon, but you are too young, the minimum age for taking full
responsibilities as a sailor is 14 years, you can't have your full
powers for four years yet." Said Queen Serenity, deciding not to scold
the young girl for eavesdropping. "Don't worry," Smiled Setsuna
bravely, "You will be Sailor Time when you are old enough. I'll just
substitute you in the meantime." Charon pouted, and almost burst into
tears, but then sighed. "OK, but promise you will then be Pluto's
princess, and I'll be Sailor Time." "I promise."
**********FLASHBACK**********
"Sayonara, sister, see you in the future!" Sailor Time was crying.
"It's better this way." Sailor Pluto nodded as Sailor Time left. "Are
you sure you want me to erase your memory?" Asked Queen Serenity.
"It's not necessary in your case." "It will be easier for me." "Are
you ready?" Setsuna nodded. A blinding light enfolded her, and her
memory was erased. Transforming into Sailor Pluto, she left for the
gate of time. Once alone, she cried for that which she did not
remember and had lost.
**********FLASHBACK**********
The dark purplish colors of the hall's fake walls played across the
two figures. After a few minutes of silence, Setsuna picked her staff
up, and using it as a stick, she stood. Charon looked worriedly at her
sister. Setsuna looked at her, and smiled faintly. "Did you have to do
that so quickly?" She whispered, the shock of the lost barrier heavy
on her head. "I'm sorry, but..." Charon squirmed under Setsuna's gaze,
"I didn't mean to unblock your memories so fast, I was just too eager
for you to remember me." "It's okay." Setsuna whispered, holding out
her arms, and they embraced, crying and laughing.

After a while, the two sisters went to the main doors of time, and sat
at the table that Setsuna had there. "It was said that you would only
wake me when the elemental scouts were needed." Said Charon. Setsuna
nodded. She remembered now. "We must awaken them, now I know what my
worry was, the third war will start sooner than it should, and the
senshi are not ready to face Chaos again." "I'll do it, you've been
guardian more time than I, you do it better here." Setsuna smiled, she
remembered a time when Charon would have wanted to stay. "Fine, I hope
you remember where you sent them to be reborn."
"Umm... on Earth?" Said Charon, gulping.
"Where on earth?"
"I didn't worry about that, why?" She squeaked.
"Do you know how many people live on Earth in 1999?" Setsuna said
exasperated.
"Nnnoo..." Charon was sweating.
"More than you can imagine."
Charon went pale, she hadn't done much investigating, and hadn't
thought about a time in which she would have to wake the Elemental
forces. "I only remember where Imbrium was reborn." She said. "I think
it was in the US." "Couldn't you think of a smaller country??" Asked
Setsuna, about to burst. "Sorry," Charon whined, "I never thought
about having to find them!" "Look, go to the US, and find Imbrium,
you'll be able to find her by her star seed signature energy." Setsuna
looked at Charon's outfit. "Detransform." "Why?" "Just do it." Charon
detransformed, and stood in her violet princess dress. "Thought so."
Setsuna said to herself. She pulled a pair of jeans and a light pink
blouse, shoes and socks out of thin air. "Put this on." Charon looked
at the clothes in Setsuna's hands.
"Pants?"
"Yes, that dress will not do for 1999."
Charon put the clothes on, not with little disgust.
"It's a bit tight." She pulled at the jeans, Setsuna laughed.
"You'll get used to them, don't worry." Setsuna materialized a
passport and a bunch of papers and a purse. "Your name will be Shigán
Chiyé, and you are Korean, since you do have a Korean accent and you
know Korean. You are going to the US as a tourist, these are your
papers. I'm giving you a credit card to the outer's bank account,
don't worry, it's never empty." Shigán nodded, and walked out of the
corridor using one of the time doors.
Tokyo, December 1999
"84 points! Yahoo!" Cried Usagi, jumping up and down happily, and then
hugging Ami to near death, "Told you I could do it if you helped!"
Makoto looked at the board, 80. //How come Usagi can beat me by four
points.// She smiled, at least she had passed. "35! Whaaa! It's not
fair!!" Minako threw herself to the ground, wailing her head off. The
other three looked at Minako, sweat drops on their heads.
"Mina-chan, at least you got 15 more than last time." Usagi said,
trying to comfort her. Minako glared at her. "Easy for you to say, you
got 70 more than last time."
Usagi sweat dropped, Ami smiled, that time it had been two on the
ground wailing. "Mina-chan, you still have one chance left," //and I'm
gonna have to help her!! Ami thought. "Yes, but now to pass I need
80!." "I got 80, why can't you?" Asked Makoto. Minako mumbled
something like ...easy for you to say... under her breath, got up, and
sulked away from the group. As Minako walked away, Ami turned to
Usagi. "So, now you passed. Keep studying and getting those grades and
you'll be first in your class! Now you can go to the US where
Mamoru-san is studying!"
Usagi grinned in anticipation, after all it HAD been that fact what
had helped her get the 84 points she had on that English test. "And
the best part is that we'll be there just in time for New Year. I want
to give Mamoru-chan the kiss of eternal love at midnight."
"Lucky for us, we won't have to be fighting any enemies, who might try
to attack!" Said Makoto, remembering their last battle against Chaos
and Galaxia. Usagi shuddered, it had been one year since their fight,
and Usagi still had nightmares of Chaos coming back to kill everyone.
"Come on, let's have lunch already" said Makoto, grinning cheerfully,
Usagi brightened immediately and they all headed to their favorite
lunch spot, where Minako was waiting.
United States, December 1999
Mamoru grabbed his bag and left the University, it was cold and was
snowing, and it would only get colder as the snow deepened. He ran to
his red sports car and quickly got in. Starting the engine, he looked
out at the white, deserted street. While he waited for the engine to
heaten up, though, a girl in a heavy overcoat trudged through the
quickly deepening snow, her long silver purple hair flowing behind
her. Mamoru drove the car up to her, opening the window.
"Want a ride?" He asked. The girl looked at him, startled, and smiled
faintly.
"I'm sorry, but I shouldn't take rides from strangers."
Mamoru got out and held out his hand, "Hi, my name is Mamoru Chiba,
I'm from Japan." The girl bowed, Japanese style, "Kombanwa, watashi wa
McKenzie Eleanor, I'm from about six blocks from here." Mamoru was
surprised as the girl responded in Japanese, "Where did you learn
Japanese?" "I just finished a course on Japanese, I find it a
beautiful language and wanted to learn. Besides, I am planning on
doing a doctorate there in a few years." Mamoru smiled warmly, "Well,
now we're not strangers, come on, I'll take you home." Mamoru moved to
the other side of the car and opened the door.
Eleanor's light purple eyes flicked from Mamoru to the red sports car,
hesitantly. She finally sighed, "ok, you win." She quickly got into
the car, and Mamoru closed her door and got into the driver's seat.
"Where to, Madame?" Eleanor giggled, and indicated the way...
