Usagi opened her eyes to the early summer sun pouring into her bedroom, kaleidoscoping over her floor. Sitting up and stretching, she recalled the previous night's events. `Arigato, Haruka-san' she thought, before glancing at her clock and realising that she was already forty minutes late. As she charged out of the house, she suddenly ran full pelt into a very hard object that grunted as it hit the floor. Usagi stood up dizzily. "Rei-chan!". Rei staggered upright, clutching her head.

"Late as always" she said fondly, but wincing in pain. "How are things, Usagi?"

"Rei-chan!" gasped Usagi for a second time. "Why are you here?"

"To see you of course. Why do you have your school bag?"

"Uhhh…….."

"It's Saturday you baka!"

Usagi groaned and sat down on the pavement. "To think I could still be in bed" she mumbled wearily.

"You haven't changed" Rei sighed. "Put your stuff inside and come up to the shrine".

"…So I really miss him, and I don't know what to do" finished Usagi, taking a gulp of tea. It was early evening, and Rei and Usagi were sat on the veranda catching up with eachother.

"Hmm….." said Rei thoughtfully. "It's your birthday soon, ne?"

Usagi nodded, confused with what her birthday had to do with her feelings about Mamoru. "It's in about a month".

"Ok" said Rei. She glanced at her watch. "Shall I walk you home, Usagi?"

"It's ok, Rei-chan" said Usagi, getting ready to leave. "Thanks for today".

"Anytime, Usagi-chan!". Rei waved Usagi out of sight, before turning around and re-entering the shrine, her raven hair billowing out behind her.

"USAGI-CHAN!"

Usagi turned around, expecting to see a pile-up on the road she had just crossed, but instead she saw Haruka walking towards her.

"Komban wa, Haruka-san" said Usagi, smiling brightly. "How are you?"

"Fine, Koneko-chan" said Haruka, falling into step with Usagi. "You?".

"Great!" replied Usagi, in what she hoped was a convincing tone.

"I'm glad" said Haruka. For a while they walked in silence, and then Usagi stopped at the entrance of an allyway.

"A shortcut" she replied, to Haruka's confused look.

"Ok, Koneko-chan", though she still looked unsure. "See you tomorrow".

"Sayonara!" called Usagi, and began to walk down the ally. Suddenly she felt the hairs on the back of her neck starting to stand up. She stopped and turned around. The entrance was a bright line, quite a distance away. She was exactly halfway down the ally. She turned to carry on, when all at once two enormous shapes leapt from the shadows. She began to scream, but was struck and fell hard against the cold wall. Feeling dazed, she thought she heard footsteps and shouting, then suddenly warmth came over her. Someone had picked her up, but after that she didn't remember anything.
