Sailor Universe: Chapter 17

“I, Princess Serenity of the Moon Kingdom, do solemnly swear that I will do all in my power to protect the people of Earth. I shall rule with a fair and just law, and shall never refuse to listen to the pleas of my people. I will rule as Neo-Queen Serenity, and shall defeat the evil Queen Karimenta of Nasu.”

“Ok, that's it. No more formalities, Neo-Queen Serenity.”

“Geez, it feels weird to be called that.” The new queen said as she held her moon staff up high.

The crowd cheered because they knew that Earth would always be safe in the hands of Neo-Queen Serenity. However, the celebration was broken up by various attacks from Karimenta's army.

“Everyone transform!! We are going to take out the trash! Sailor Mercury, tend to the oath giver, then join us. We can hold them off until you are finished!”

“Yes, Neo-Queen Serenity.”

“Oh, and everyone can drop the `neo'. I don't really think it is all that necessary.”

<And, Raye, tell all of the Scouts, Luna, Artemis, Darien, and Colin, that ya'll are just to call me Serenity. I will make sure to tell my family later.>

<Yes, my queen.>

<Arggh!>

**AT THE BATTLEFIELD**

“You nasty pest! You will pay for that, Sailor Mars! I think I'll kill you first, to take my revenge upon your mother!!”

“My mother?! What in the world are you talking about, you cretin?!”

“Your mother, queen of Mars, was my most hated enemy. I joined with Karimenta so that I could extract my revenge upon her daughter! She stole my throne, niece, and it is time I got payback!”

“NIECE??!! How could that be possible?! No one on Mars was evil!”

“You wish that was so! I am your mother's evil twin sister. However, we are not identical, as you can see. I was the eldest by 5 minutes. The throne should have been mine, not hers! Our pitiful parents thought I was too evil to trust, so I killed them. But they had already made provisions for Gemina to rule instead of me! Now you shall pay for their mistake!!”

“YOU WILL NOT HARM HER!! Since you are also of Mars, your powers are also fire-based! Care for a little taste of water? TIDAL WAVE DESCEND!”

From the sky, there fell a huge wave, as if there had been an ocean right there, though they were surrounded by land. However, Karimenta's partner was not as weak to water as Mercury had suspected. Much to her surprise, though, another water attack was on the way from Neptune.

“MUSICIAL STORM CRESCENDO!!”

A hurricane-like storm surrounded the Enemy, all the while creating an unbearable noise that only she could hear. The attacks greatly weakened her, and she fled yelling her threats into the air.

“I, Geminate, will return, and this time I shall not fail in my quest for revenge!”

The other Scouts quickly finished off the other monsters and joined Mercury, Neptune, and Mars.

“My aunt?! Well this is just great! Sailor Moon, what will I do? How can I defeat my own family?”

“Sailor Scouts, we must return to the people and assured them that everything is alright. Then, we will go to the Palace. A ball is to be held two weeks after the wedding, and it must be planned.”

“Sailor Moon, can I talk to you later?”

“Of course, Sailor Mars, I want you to come by my room at the Palace later. There is something that I must tell you.”

**LATER THAT NIGHT**

“My queen, what is you wish to tell me?”

“Raye, you know you just have to call me Serenity when we are amongst ourselves. For some strange reason, every planet, except Earth and the Moon, gave two daughters in the generation of our mothers. All of them were twins, and in each set, one was evil. The other Scouts' mothers were able to defeat their sisters, but it came at a terrible price. While we were still mere babies, all of their mothers, including the Outer Scouts, were killed, along with all the life on their planets. They realized that in the time of the Moon Kingdom, that sacrifice was the only way to keep Earth and the Moon safe. However, your aunt was slightly different from the other evil twins. It seemed to everyone that she was powerless, and therefore not a threat. So, your mother lived, and your aunt was not destroyed.”

“So, what happened to the people of Mars?? Shouldn't there still be people on it?”

“I am afraid not. Just five years later, your aunt returned with unbelievable powers. She killed your mother and all the people of Mars for their supposed betrayal of the rightful queen. We were but seven years old, and just thought that Gemina had gone away. My mother told me the story on one of my visits to see her. She felt we should be warned. She told me, if Geminate should return, that she is so very sorry for her lack of judgement, and hopes that you will forgive her. She just didn't want you to have to grow up without a mother like the other Scouts.”

“Thank you, Serenity for telling me away from the others. I understand now what I must do. I will not let our kinship get in the way. Um, will I have to do what everyone's mothers did??”

“No, thankfully, we are all much stronger than our mothers. I think that if the twin thing had happened to us, we would not have had to make that kind of sacrifice. Go and rest now, I do not think that there will be any more attacks before the wedding, but we cannot be sure.”

“Why don't think that there will be any more?”

“Karimenta wants revenge for Beryl's death. I was the one who killed her yes, but Darien was the one who refused her love. I think Karimenta wants revenge on Darien for that, so she will wait to make her big move until after the wedding.”

“I see. Good night, Serenity. Please do not let the nightmares bother you tonight.”

“How could you know about those? I have told no one.”

“You forget, I am Princess of Mars. I saw how tired you were looking, and I checked the fire. I just wanted to make sure you were ok.”

“Thanks for not telling anyone else. I just fear that I will make a mistake, and that everyone of Earth will pay for it.”

“You will not fail us or them. I must take my leave now.”

“Good night, Raye. And thanks for your confidence in me.”
