Chapter 4
Late one Night
7:00pm that night, Hospital.
“Again?” Makoto and Usagi said to Haruka laying in bed.
“That thing tore our house apart in almost every way that mattered. Even after Rei came for help, she barely made a difference.”
“So what happened after that?” Makoto asked.
“We left the place and Rei rushed Michiru here.”
“Did the doctors say anything about her?” Usagi asked.”
“Yeah, they tolled me that she needed an immediate blood transfusion and a lot of stitches. I got off pretty easy, and didn't need so much.” Haruka turned her head to look at Michiru resting, tubes sticking out of her, and an IV hanging down into her arm.
“What about you, what'd they say about you?”
“They just said, I needed some rest and I'll be fine. The cuts I got weren't as deep as hers. They also said Michiru will be fine by tomorrow.” Mamoru walked in with a nice little bouquet of flowers. Rei followed in a few steps behind.
“Hey guys.” He said placing the flowers on the closer table to Michiru.
“You doing okay?”
“Yeah, I'm getting there. It still kinda stings everywhere when I move. Especially my legs, they feel like I did a full marathon.”
“Haruka, if I can ask?” Rei asked.
“Sure.”
“How did this spirit act?”
“Well, we were about to have lunch when it started knocking at our door. I thought it was just kids playing, when I threatened to call the police, then it started slamming into the wall.”
“How did it get in though?”
“It broke the window from the outside. After that all hell broke loose, and.. well you saw the inside.”
“Excuse me, but Visiting Hours are over.” Said the nurse at the door way.
“Well, you make sure you both get plenty of rest, okay?” Usagi said.
“And, don't worry about a thing. I'm gonna stay at the lobby downstairs. So if anything happens, I'll be here.” Makoto added.
“Thanks, all of you.”
“Good night.” They all said as they left. When the door clicked shut, Haruka sighed to herself as she looked over to Michiru. She smiled with some doubt in her mind.
(What if, that thing comes back? Sailor Jupiter is very strong, but could she really help, if even Mars could barely get away from it?) She shifted her back to get a more comfortable position. She sighed again, remembering what happened in their home. She couldn't get it out of her thoughts, even though what she really wanted to do was get some sleep.
(I wonder, what if I had transformed and I could have destroyed it there? Could I?) She readjusted her eyes to Michiru again.
(No... it was to big of a gamble to even try. For all I know, it could've fed off my attack and grew stronger. We've had a rough day, a day that could have been far more devastating.) [knock-knock] Every hair on her stood up.
(No not again.) She was getting up...
“Excuse me. I'm sorry I forgot to turn off your light.” The nurse said. She flipped the switch off leaving only the soft blueish light above her bed, then left closing the door behind her. Her heart went from zero to one hundred miles an hour, and started slowing down again.
“Oh... you... ughhh.” Haruka exhaled a shuddering breath.
“Sleep, I need sleep.” She shifted into her bed and pulled the covers.
“What a long day.” Outside Rei waved goodbye to Mamoru and Usagi as they walked to his car in the next-door parking garage.
“Mamoru?”
“Hmm?”
“Why do you think this is happening to us?
“I really don't know. Everything has been going so well, I guess we've just been so busy enjoying ourselves, maybe we just overlooked this one thing. There are many forces out there, but we've always came up victoriously. We don't have anything to worry about.” Usagi smiled as she leaned on him a little more, and held his arm a little harder. They entered the garage that was so well lit you could read a poster at the far end wall from wherever you were.
“We have a future together, right?”
“That's right. It'll be you, and me, and our friends. We'll live in our future, where we'll make sure no one will ever have to endure moments like this.” She smiled in a state of euphoria. His words gave her the comfort she needed for her heart.
“Yes, soon no one will ever have to go through this.” They made their way to his black Mazda RX8. Usagi had the comfort she needed but Mamoru could still feel there was something different about the way she carried herself.
“You're still worried?”
“Does it show?”
“A little. Tell you what, how bout we get some ice cream?” Her face, full of graceful features glowed with expression and smiled.
“Anything you want.” She giggled at the thought and started pulling him at the arm to the car. They reached his Mazda and Usagi walked over to the passenger side.

Mamoru reached into his pocket for his keys, he looked down and [clicked] unlocked his car.
“Mamoru?” She said. He looked up and was startled. There was his love, head-locked by a large man in dark clothing, and a solid black ski mask. A moment passed with a coldness as he reached behind him and drew out a large knife, and rolled it in his fingers to place the blade against her neck. This wasn't a large kitchen knife, this was a large no-frills type of knife. A single edge, drop-point knife. The blade itself was eleven inches long. He got a good view of him, as if the man didn't mind the light, as if hiding wasn't a serious issue for him.
“Let her go!” Mamoru demanded. The man with the knife took slow steps from the car and stopped at the rear fender. Usagi's lower lip quivered as the cold blade pressed against her neck. She tried to move her head to see who had her, but then felt the blade press harder.
“I said let her go!” The man started walking backwards at a easy pace, Mamoru didn't know if he should follow until the man with the knife stopped, as if he was waiting. Mamoru took a step forward, then so did he.
“What do you want?” He took another two, slow, steps backwards. Mamoru followed with cautious footing. The man with the knife started taking longer strides.
“Mamoru, help m..” Her voice was cut off, when her tightened his arm. He continued walking backwards, hostage in tow, boyfriend following.
“Please let her go, whatever I have, its yours, just let her go.” He still hadn't responded, he just walked away from him, with a slow deliberate pace. Row after row of cars they passed, and then they reached the ramp to the second level. Row by row, patiently he walked backwards, stopping only when Mamoru stopped, since he was unsure what he could do, or even if what he was doing was what he wanted. The sound of tapping of their footsteps had a slight echo as they made their way back further into the parking structure.
“You know this place only has one exit, no matter what you do here, you wont get away with this.” He didn't respond and continued to walk. They kept walking.
(What's wrong with this guy?) Then the man quickly, jolted Usagi backwards with him. Only a foot in distance, but still enough to scare the both of them.
“What your doing is wrong and cruel. Just let her go.” Still no response came from him as they now made it to the ramp to the third level.
“What kind disrespectful thug takes a young woman hostage?” Again, no response except the unchanging rhythm of his footsteps. [Fooumm!] Mamoru turned behind him and saw several lights, a level down, either exploded or simply shut off. His attention reverted back to the thug. Mamoru suddenly got the feeling this wasn't what it seemed, it was obvious he was being lured, but for what he couldn't figure why.
(This guy could've easily came from behind me downstairs and killed us, but he didn't. So what's this guy after?) [Fooumm!] Another set of lights went off behind him. Onward they walked, forward they went, further they advanced.
(Where is this guy going? Theirs only the roof, but their's nothing up their.) The stress... Usagi was whimpering and almost crying, but something in the back of her mind made her keep quiet. This guy had enough grip around her to lift her on her little tip-toes. Time passes differently when life threating danger is present, as it was now. [Fooumm!] Mamoru heard the whole third floor of lights go out, and now they were on the roof. The man walked up until he reached the middle of the roof and stopped. Mamoru stopped as well with a distance of about twenty-five feet from him. A warm calm breeze was uncomfortably blowing by as he just stood their. His arm was still around her neck, and his other hand still had the knife at her throat, but he just stood there. Mamoru looked around just with his eyes to see if their was anyone else... nothing.
“Sir, whatever your planning, it's not going to work, so just let her go, please.” The man just stood there, looking at him. Mamoru still had a constant stare, at his hands, hoping he didn't see a sudden movement. Her life was in danger, and he had to do something, but the circumstance was to much in his favor. What could he possibly want? Mamoru took a few steps towards him, but this time he didn't move. He took another few steps, and then a few more again. His eyes focused on his blond angel, and on the knife. [TAP - TAP – TAP] Mamoru's attention dropped to the ground for a second, just as he saw a small oval object started rolling to him, and then the man suddenly rolled his back away from him. [BANG!!]
“AHH, AHHH!! MY EYES!” A deafening bang, along with a bright flash killed all his senses and was blind. Just a high pitched ringing sound in his head, and a darkness. His hands pressed into his face from the pain of the light. On his knees, he moaned and feared being attacked at any moment. Minutes passed and the ringing was gone and his sight was returning. Moment later he could see.. a folded white paper note was beside him. He opened it to read the typed letter.
She's still in the garage, you just have to find her.
The catch is, I'm not going to let you.
You can leave anytime you want, and I won't stop you.
Let the game begin.
Nothing else was printed. An anger filled him from top to bottom. He started running, then stopped.
“He planed this, and at Ami's car. Well he doesn't know what he's getting himself into.” He pulled his cell phone out and made a call.
(So far this has involved us separately, when we were alone. Well he don't know what we've all gone though up till now.)
“Hello?” Ami answered.
“Ami, that guy that attacked you, just kidnapped Usagi.”
“What?!”
“He's here at the hospital parking garage, and I don't know where either of them are.”
“Mamoru, listen. Transform, and do whatever you can to avoid fighting him directly. He's strong and he has a gun.”
“Anything else?”
“Yeah, when I use my Shabon Spray, I think he could see through it, so do what you can to stay where you can also see him.” Mamoru looked down the third level ramp into the darkness in the garage.
“I'll keep that in mind.”
“I'll get everyone else that I can, see you then.” A rose was now in his hand and he had to face the thug in the darkness.
