Starry Eyes
Haruka can't focus. She can't sleep, she can't race, all she can think about is him. What's going on? Will it ever stop? And what the hell is she going to do about Michiru? - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -Sailor Moon is not mine. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
“Hey, she's waking up!” Haruka slowly opened her eyes to see Usagi and all the other girls standing around her. “Hey, what happened to make you faint like that, Haruka?” Haruka ignored Minako's question as she slowly sat up to look around, getting rather dizzy in the process. The girls had propped her up on the couch, with an icepack to her forehead. She held the pack to her head, and attempted to stand up. However, her legs hadn't quite recovered from the, ahem, previous incident, so they buckled under her and sent her sprawling to the ground. At least, they would have, had a certain raven-haired heart-throb not intervened.
“A-are you okay, t-tomboy-san?” Haruka lay in Seiya's arms, a thousand panicked thoughts running through her head. Then, recalling what she had done before she had passed out, she pushed herself out of his arms, and, blushing, yelled, “I'm fine, Seiya-no-baka, no thanks to you!” Seiya readied himself for another fight of the century, while secretly relieved that Haruka was back to her normal self.
“If it wasn't for me, you'd be sprawled out on the ground right now!” The rest of the senshi quickly left the house to go “shopping”, which, in this case, meant “get out of the house now before Seiya and Haruka kill us with badly aimed objects.
“Ha! Yeah right! I would have flipped around and dramatically caught myself at the last possible moment, but nooo, you HAD to step in, didn't you!”
“Oh yeah! Well who was it that almost freakin' kissed me out side!” Haruka quieted, and her face fell, and Seiya obviously knew he had gone too far.
“Haruka, I…”
“SHUTUP! JUST SHUTUP! YOU DON'T KNOW ANYTHING! JUST LEAVE ME ALONE!” Haruka screamed, and ran upstairs before he had a chance to react any farther.
Seiya opened the door of the last room n the hallway to find the normally proud, strong senshi sobbing into her pillow.
“Tomboy-san?” Seiya ventured as he reached out to touch her shoulder. Haruka scooted away at the contact.
“Look Seiya, just leave me alone. Go home. Stop bothering me. And leave.. me… a-…” Haruka broke off as sobs once again racked the queen sized bed that was Haruka's, her once again crying into the fabric of her pillow. Seiya thought for a moment, then, going against his entire conscience, slipped onto the bed beside the distraught blonde.
“Wha-“ Seiya pressed his fingers to her lips, and pulled her close to him, lying her head against his chest. Haruka tried to pull away, as Seiya stroked her back in small, soft circles until she calmed down. Well, stopped cursing at least. He couldn't help but notice how soft she was, even when struggling, as he leaned down towards her ear.
“Sometimes,” he whispered. “It's okay to cry.” And with that, the struggling ceased, and freely the tears began to flow.
Seiya lay there for what seemed like hours as he softly strokee Haruka's back and ran his fingers through her hair as she sobbed into his chest. `Why am I doing this?'he asked himself. `Why am I comforting her like this, we hate each other, don't we?' He looked down at the still sobbing blonde, and suddenly found it impossible to hold any rage against this young woman. Then it struck him. That's what she was. I didn't know why it hadn't occurred to him before. The way she softly crossed her ankles when she sat down, the way she always knew what to say when Usagi or one of the other girls came home crying, or had just broken up with a boyfriend, or was the victim of the popular kids at school, and the soft underlying scent of vanilla and rose underneath the musky cologne she always wore. How everything she did, she always did with a soft touch of grace, even when fighting. She was, she was, `woman' Seiya thought, as the sobbing and shaking of the small figure began to subside.
Haruka quieted, and lay pressed up against the chest that she had been so many times in her dream. But, somehow, in real life it was different. It was softer, and she could feel every detail of every muscle rippling through it as she relaxed against the steady rise and fall of Seiya's warm body as he breathed. She sighed, closed her eyes, and just listened to his beating heart as she tried to work out her own. `Sigh, what is happening to me? I, I don't know what is going on anymore, and I can't think about anything but Seiya. This shouldbn't be happening, I mean, I love Michiru don't I? Then why am I here like this?' She pushed herself out of his arms. “I think, I think you should go now.”
Seiya was startled ar the new coldness in Haruka's voice, almost like the time whem she had found him in Michiru's dressing room, like none of this had ever happened.
“Now” This was a command, and Seiya knew nor to disobey it. He slid off the bed and made his way to the door. He paused for a moment, and turned ack around. “If you ever want to talk…”
“OUT!” and he was gone. She waited until she heard the front door slam, then flopped back down onto the bed. She then realized, she missed it. Already, she missed being held by him, she missed being envelped by his warmth, she missed him whispereing calming words into her ear, she missed…him. For the third time that day, our senshi of the wind asked herself, `Why is this happeneg to me?'
