Starry Eyes
Haruka can't focus. She can't sleep, she can't race, all she can think about is him. What's going on? Will it ever stop? And what the hell is she going to do about Michiru? - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -Sailor Moon is not mine. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Haruka slowly awoke to the sound of beeping equipment. She let her eyelids flutter open, but almost imediately shut them again, due to the bright white overheads. She needed no further information to know, she was in the hospital.
"Oh my gosh! Haruka's up!" Haruka managed to glimpse a small sight of roughly nine people racing to her side before she was once again forced to close her eyes.
"Haruka, are you alright?"
"It depends," Haruka groaned as she slowly attempted to sit up, but the racing pain shooting through her body forced her to fall back on the sheets, igniting even more pain running up her back.
"Don't move too much Haruka, your pretty badly hurt. That must've," Usagi broke off, now eyeing Haruka with something akin to fear in her eyes, along with worry and gingerness.
"Go on."
"-must've been one hell of a fall." Haruka made her eyes open, and looked around at the nine faces surrounding her, Mamoru, Usagi, Ami, Rei, Makoto, Minako, Setsuna, Hotaru, and Chibi-usa. They all were looking very wary at her.
'They think I'll try again,' it struck her suddenly. Oh great, now everyone is going to be watching her every move.
"Alright, I can't stand hospitals, whose the idiot that brought me here, and why didn't he just leave me with Ami or something." Haruka grumbled, and the nine around her were slightly relieved that Haruka wasn't acting all weird, but soon the faces fell.
"S-seiya," Usagi whispered, as she turned her head to the bed next to Haruka. Haruka looked, then had to resist the urge to puke. Seiya was lying on a bed about 5 feet away from her. He was deathly pale, and lying on his stomach. She could see blood stains on his back where it seeped through the bandages and the sheets. There were all these tubes and wires protruding from his body, connecting him to different machines, and his neck was in a brace. To top it all off, he was resting in one of those oxygen tents.
"W-what-" Haruka gasped, stunned beyond belief that she would ever find him like this.
"When you fell," Setsuna put in. "He jumped off after you. He wrapped his arms around you and turned so his back would hit the ground first, trying to protect you."
'Why?'
"Excuse me," a nurse entered the room. "It's 10:00, all visitors must now return home."
"But-" Usagi and the other inners started to protest, but one look from the nurse quieted them. The nurse left the room, followed by 11 people, two of which hadn't bothered to come over to her, Yaten and Taiki, as they were more worried about Seiya, and could care less about the blonde who put him in his extreme condition. Usagi was the last to leave.
"Get some rest Haruka, and don't worry, we'll be back tomorrow." Haruka nodded, and gratefully let her head rest back down onto the pillow. A doctor, a she, came in to make sure everything was alright before she went home, and was surprised to find Haruka conscious.
"Good evening Ms. Tenoh. No, don't get up, I won't be here long.
" She adjusted Haruka's IV's as she closed her eyes and rested. When the doctor moved on to Seiya, Haruka questioned, "Shouldn't he be in the ICU?" The doctors face, masked with worry and concern as she looked after the young man, lightened and smiled as she looked back.
"Directly before he passed out, this young man, he-" The woman began to positively beam at Haruka. "He requested that he was put in the same room as you, so he could still..."
"Still what?"
"So he could still watch over you." Haruka's heart began to race. She wouldn't have been embarassed, of course, if the machine next to her hadn't started beeping in rapid fire mode. The doctor just laughed as Haruka began to blush.
"Now, you'll have to get over that, or else some of the nurses might think we've got a crisis going on here!" Haruka began to giggle as well, as the beeping on the machine went back to it's normal tempo. She couldn't laugh too hard however, seeing as the pain up her back wouldn't let her. She took a good look at the doctor, and was amazed by how much she looked like Seiya, but then, at the same time, she was hardly anything like him. She had long, dark black hair, longer than Setsuna's even. However, it was loose, and instead of having a blue tint, it was almost red. Her jawline and facial features were the exact same as his, but her lips were a darker peach, and eyes were a dark, fiery red. She seemed about his height, and couldn't have been more than roughly 19 or so. The doctor, who had caught Haruka's gaze chuckled and said,"I finished school early," as if reading her mind. Haruka blushed at the fact she was caught.
"G-gomen nasai."
"Heh, don't worry about it, a lot of people wonder about that, but most them are, rather rude about it," The girl frowned at the memory.
"Well, my shift's over for now, hopefully I'll catch you tomorrow, if the ER's not to busy." As the doctor was almost out the door, Haruka called out, " I didn't catch your name!"
"Maiumi, Maiumi Seiko!"
Haruka was finally alone in the now dark hospital room. Her thoughts kept drifting to Seiya, occasionally interupted by a random output by a machine. She couldn't help but wonder why he'd dive in after her, especially after how she had pushed him away the last time she had seen him, conscious that is. Then there was the whole room question, about why he wanted to still "watch over" her.
"In his state he couldn't even watch a television set," she muttered. "Stupid idiot."
"Mmmnn, I heard that." Haruka jolted completely awake at the soft moan.
"S-seiya?"
"Mmmnnnn," He groaned, at the volume of a fly buzz. "It, it hurts."
"Of course it hurts, you Baka, you just fell off a freakin' cliff!?!?!?!? Why the heck would you go and do something like that!?!?!?"
"Why would," He paused, and grimaced at the pain. "Why would you?" Haruka quieted, and turned away.
"Haruka?"
"I have a reason Seiya. You don't. You still have something. Your princess needs your protection. Ours doesn't. She has the inner senshi, Setsuna, Hotaru, and Mi-michiru." Seiya's eyes widened in realization, at least, as wide as his condition would allow.
"So that's what, uhn, that's what this is-"
"Enough Seiya. Your in a serious predicament, and your body needs time to heal itself, which means sleep." During the night, Haruka had forgotten about Seiya's fall along with her, and, as a result of, his pain.
"Bu-"
"Sleep," Haruka comanded in a firm voice, but Seiya could tell there was an underlying hint of concern. He nodded gratefully as much as his neck brace, and neck, would allow, then wistfully closed eyes again. Once Haruka was sure he was asleep, she turned her self towards him again to gaze on his sleeping figure. He still looked horrible, and very close to death, but she couldn't help but admire the fact that he, well, did look rather cute when he was sleeping. She watched him carefully, until finally fatigue and pain got the best of her, and she slowly drifted into sleep.
