Chapter 1

 

Michiru bolted upright in her bed slick with sweat; she could still feel the silence surrounding her. Too upset to return to sleep she pulls back her covers and gets out of bed, walking to her empty canvas. Picking up her pallet of colors she begins to outline the horror of her dreams.

 

By morning the painting was finished `what do these dreams mean? Why do I see them every night?' setting her paintbrush down she dressed for school and left her house.

 

Between her school work, practicing, and her dreams Michiru didn't have much free time to herself, but she always made sure that she had time to go to the track in the afternoon. There, was her secret crush, Haruka Tenoh. Everyday after school Michiru would sit in the stands working on homework and watching Haruka run. When she could, she purchased tickets to see the blonde in motor races as well.

 

Practice was over and the athletes headed towards the locker rooms, Michiru put her things away and got up to leave when one of the girls cried out. She fell to the ground convulsing, her teammates unaware. “Help me…” she managed to say weakly.

 

Michiru dropped her things and ran to the girl, but then she started to change her form! What was a small girl in a track uniform became a blue skinned demon lady holding a long pole “Vaulter!” it cried.

 

“What the-“but Michiru's comment was cut short as the thing pole vaulted and kicked Michiru in the chest, knocking her on her back. Vaulter stood up and held the pole to her shoulder, changing it into a spear to be hurled instead. Michiru put up an arm in a hopeless defense when it was cast, but then a blinding green light came between them, tossing the spear away. The light dimmed to reveal a peculiar looking pen with a planet on the top of it. Michiru reached for it and as she touched it, words formed in her mind “Neptune Planet Power MAKE-UP!” In an instant her school girl outfit was replaced with a much more scandalous looking one complete with a tiara on her forehead. Following an inner prompting she raised her hands above her head “Deep Submerge!” Blasting a wave of water energy towards the demon.

 

“Vaulter!” a shimmer, and then it became the girl once again. Neptune let out a sigh of relief at seeing the girl alive and then ran away to transform back “What just happened?” she asked herself aloud looking at her new transformation pen.

That night her dreams were different. Instead of seeing all of the destruction, she was at a palace. Something about the scenery seemed odd though and she tried to place what it was. Looking outside to the night sky she gave a gasp! That was the earth floating in the sky, which must mean that she was on the moon. A shadow came over her and Michiru turned to see a guard.

 

“We have been expecting you; the Queen would wish to speak with you.” Without waiting for a reply, he turned to leave expecting Michiru to follow. Seeing no reason why not to, she did.

 

They came to the throne room where the guard knelt before the white haired Queen, he was dismissed with a gesture and then only Michiru and the Queen were there.

 

“I am Queen Serenity, ruler of the Moon Kingdom. You have been awoken Princess Neptune and I have a mission for you.”

 

“Princess? Is that what that costume was earlier?”

 

“That was your Sailor Soldier fighting uniform. Thousands of years ago you swore allegiance to the Moon Kingdom and your soul is reincarnated when you die. You rule over the planet Neptune and in peaceful times, live there. But things are not at peace now; I need you to find the talismans within pure hearts for the messiah.”

 

Michiru's mind was reeling from all of the information “I'm a princess soldier over 1000 years old and you need me to find items inside of people?”

 

“Well when you put it that way, yes. But you won't be alone in your mission. You must find your partner, Princess Uranus. Only when you work together will you be able to complete your mission.”

 

“How will I know when I find her?”

 

“You are destined to find her, every one of your lives the two of you have been together. You will know who she is because she is the counterpart to your soul.”

 

At hearing this Michiru's heart plummeted `not Haruka! I don't want her life ruined as well!'

 

“You must obtain the talismans, no matter the cost.”

 

“Even if it means sacrificing their owners?”

 

“Yes. Go now and fulfill your destiny.”

 

Michiru's eyes opened to her darkened bedroom, her Transformation Pen on her nightstand. “Princess, no, Sailor Neptune” she said to herself getting a feel for the sound of it. `I just want to be a violinist!'
