Chapter 5- Malachite and Mina:...I Felt Your Heart

A month has passed since Serena and Darien's time-travel to the
Silver Millennium.

DREAM BEGINS

A man with long white hair was opening his arms to a running girl
with long blonde hair, held with a red ribbon. Opening her arms, she
flew into his embrace. They held each other as if they never want to
let go. Feeling her heartbeat against his lower chest, the man sighed
contentedly. The girl could hear his thumping heat as she rested her
head against his upper chest, and she sighed happily. Lifting her
chin, he bent his head toward hers and as just as their lips touch...

DREAM ENDS

Gasping, Mina woke. As she laid there, she felt a sensation on her
forehead. Knowing it was her Venus symbol, she quietly got up from
her bed, carefully, so as if not to wake Artemis, her Guardian Cat.
She walked over to the window and stared up at the moon. Shivering,
she recalled her dream then picked up the phone. 'I know it's late,'
she thought. 'But I've got to speak to her.'

In downtown Tokyo, Marcus woke with a jerk and sat up from his desk,
spilling his papers. "Uhhh, that dream again," he grumbled, rubbing
his eyes. As he bent to collect the fallen papers, he thought about
the dream. 'Maybe I'm working too hard as a publisher,' he thought as
he placed the papers on the table and leaned back in his chair. 'But
that girl! It felt as if I knew her from somewhere. Who is she?'
A loud hum filled the room. Marcus noticed it was coming from a
poster frame of Sailor V. He got up and walked over to it. Removing
the frame, he revealed a small wall safe. After opening it, he peered
in and was astonished to see a glowing light. Reaching in, he pulled
out the glowing and humming object.
"My kunzite stone," he said. "Why is it glowing again after five
years?" Then he remembered a dream he had five years ago. In a
cavernous underground tunnel, he was fighting five girls wearing
Sailor outfits. One of them looked very much like the girl in his
dreams. The battle ended when one girl, appearing to be the leader,
deflected his attack back at him with her scepter. Struck at the
upper chest near his right shoulder, Marcus vanished crying out.

Marcus remembered more when he woke up from that dream. As he sat up
in his bed and noticed a bright green stone floating in front of him.
As he reached for it, the green stone split and shattered, revealing
a lilac-colored stone, kunzite. He saved some of the green pieces
which he found out later was known as malachite.
Marcus then pocketed his kunzite stone and reached in the safe again
and took out his malachite pieces. They weren't glowing, but he put
them in his pocket, too. 'Maybe I am working too hard,' he thought as
he grabbed his jacket and left the office. 'I need to get some rest.'

"So, if I'm having this dream now, like Raye, Lita, and Amy, then
that means..." Mina trailed off as she nearly dropped the phone.
Serena was responding on the other line, a little sleepy, but waking
up more excitedly. "...you'll meet your true love! Ooooh, Mina! This is
so wicked cool!"
Mina was silent for a while, then she spoke again. "Serena, can you
and Darien meet me at the video arcade, now?"

As Marcus left the building, he heard his stone humming again. Taking
it out, he started in the direction of his home. The humming faded,
but when he turned in the other direction, it hummed again and glowed
very brightly. 'What's going on here? This stone is acting like a
radar.'
He thought about the girl in his dreams, and as he did, the malachite
pieces started to vibrate in his shirt pocket. He took them out and
they showed a bright green glow. 'Hmmmm,' he thought. 'I don't know
what this means but I bet these stones have something to do with my
dreams and that girl! I'm going to find out now!' With that, he
walked off in the direction his kunzite stone hummed and glowed to.

As they all stood in front of the arcade, Mina stared at Serena and
Darien. "I don't get it," she said. "How can Malachite and I be in
love? Wasn't he involved with Zoicite?"
"Well, yes," Darien agreed. "But we both believe that they were
clones who worked for Beryl and the Negaverse."
"We're not sure if we're right about the clone theory," Serena added.
"But we know those two were not the real generals of Earth."
"This is so deep," said Mina, confused and hugging herself. Placing a
hand on her shoulder, Darien continued, "We know it's hard to take it
in, but if you really want to know the truth, we'll help you. It's
your choice."
Looking at her Venus Crystal Wand, Mina nodded to herself and faced
the couple. Raising her wand, she exclaimed, "Venus Crystal Power,
Make Up!" After she transformed into Super Sailor Venus, she said,
"I'm ready!" Holding up the Silver Crystal in their hands, Serena
and Darien transformed into their royal selves. As they concentrated,
a flash of light came out, enveloped Venus in a glowing orb, and she
disappeared.

At that moment, Marcus ran up to the arcade. "Wait! Stop!" he yelled.
"Where is she? Where is that girl?" As the royal couple stared at
him, Marcus realized what had just happened. His dream girl
disappeared as if by---MAGIC?! "What's going on?" he asked. "Am I
dreaming?"
"No, you are not," Prince Darien replied. "In fact, this is very
real, Malachite, or should I call you by your real name, Kunzite?"
"Huh?" Marcus took a step back. "My name is Marcus."
"True, in this present time," said Princess Serena. "However, a
thousand years ago, you were known as General Kunzite of Earth, but
sometimes, you take Prince Darien's place while he visited me on the
moon or if I visit him on the Earth. In order to protect his
identity, you were known as Prince Malachite."

Crossing his arms, Marcus frowned as he stared at them. 'This doesn't
make any sense,' he thought. 'Yet I feel that they are telling me the
truth.'
Chuckling, Prince Darien said, "Deep in thought as always, Kunzite.
You are the only one among the generals, except for Nephlite, who
actually think before you act."
Snapping out of his thoughts, Marcus made a stern face. "Look, my
name is Marcus, and I don't care if you prefer Kunzite or Malachite.
You haven't answered my question: Where is the girl?"
"Ah, Sailor Venus!" replied Serena. "We will send you to her if that
is what you want. Do you trust us?"
Marcus stared at them, mostly at the prince. There was something
familiar about him. 'My instincts were never wrong,' he thought. 'And
I feel I could trust them. Besides, I want to know more about Sailor
Venus.' Standing before them, he nodded.

The royal couple concentrated on the Silver Crystal, and to Marcus'
shock, his clothes changed into a dark blue uniform of a general.
Before he could say anything else, a zap of light shot out of the
crystal and he was gone. Then Serena and Darien returned to their
normal selves. "That's all of them," Serena sighed. "I wonder what's
going to happen next."
"They're going to want to know what really happened to the generals
in the Silver Millennium," Darien said. "On the day the Negaforce
arrived."
"We must prepare for the worst." Serena snuggled into his arms. "Were
they clones, or were they brainwashed?"
"No matter what the past reveals, they are on our side now." Darien
smiled at her, hugging her closer. "And the scouts won't be lonely
anymore." Serena smiled back at him. "I just everyone to be happy,"
she said. Then they walked off.

Venus stood in the cavernous tunnel where the Sailor Scouts fought
their last battle with Malachite. She remembered him, wounded from
his own attack deflected back at him by Sailor Moon. Dying, he called
out for Zoicite and disappeared. "I know he was involved with
Zoicite," she said. "But, now, the real Zoicite- I mean, Zander,- is
involved with Amy. Hmmm, I wonder was there some connection between
the real Zoicite and the real Malachite during the Silver
Millennium?"
"I'm wondering that myself," a voice said, behind her. Gasping, she
turned. A man looking exactly like Malachite stood before her. He
was wearing the blue general uniform, not the gray one. And his face
wore the same stern expression except it showed dignity, not
sinistry. His deep voice spoke, "I didn't mean to scare you, but I am
Marcus. You have been haunting my dreams for this past week." Then he
held up the malachite pieces. "You've mentioned the name Malachite.
Are you referring to these?"
Venus stepped to take his hand and observe the pieces. As she did, he
stared at her pretty face. 'A beauty, just like the goddess herself,'
he thought, feeling his heart thump wildly. Venus then realized how
close they were and looked up at his handsome face. 'What eyes!' she
thought. 'So clear and so striking!' Blushing, she stepped back, her
heart beating fast. "Um, do you perchance know some one by the name
of Zoicite?"
Marcus thought for a moment. "The name does sound familiar, but I
really can't remember. All I know is that I found you with this." He
took out the kunzite stone. All at once, the stone and Venus' crystal
wand flew from their owners' hands and met in mid-air. As they
started to encircle one another, a bright flash appeared, and Venus
and Marcus were gone.

They appeared in a magnificent throne room, looking around in
astonishment. "How did we get here?" Marcus asked.
"If my guess is right, my wand and your stone brought us here," Venus
explained. "It's what happened to my friends and their true loves."
A young blonde girl entered the throne room, with her head down, her
red hair ribbon showing. As she stood before the empty throne, she
stared at it, then collapsed against it, weeping, her yellow orange
princess gown flowing about her. Concerned, Marcus stepped forward.
"Miss," he spoke. "Are you all right?" There was no answer. The girl
kept on crying.
Venus then said, "She can't hear or see us. This also happened to my
friends and their true loves."
"That's the second time you've mentioned 'true loves'." Marcus arched
an eyebrow. "Are you saying that we were a couple also?"
"Well, everyone is paired off. We're the last ones."
The girl finally stopped crying. Sniffling, she lifted her head, and
Marcus gasped, "That's you!"
Venus nodded. "I'm remembering now. We're on the moon. I was a decoy
princess for Princess Serena of the Moon Kingdom. She visited to
Earth many times to visit..."
"...Prince Darien," Marcus concluded. "I'm remembering, too. I was a
also a decoy for him when he visited the Moon Princess. As a general,
I was known as Kunzite, but as the prince's decoy, I was known as
Malachite."
Then Prince Malachite entered the throne room. His long white hair
shook gracefully as he looked around. Marcus stared in awe at his
past self. "I remember more. This was the time when we confessed to
who we really are..."
"...and our love for each other," Venus finished.

Malachite sighed with relief as he found Princess Mina by the throne.
"My dearest one," he said, as he hurried to her and helped her up.
"Why are you upset? Is it because of my proposal?"
Nodding sadly, Mina looked into his clear gray eyes. "I'm upset
because I must turn it down."
Fear trickled into Malachite's heart. 'No,' he thought. 'I can't lose
her.' Gulping softly, he whispered, "Why?"
"Because you are a prince, and you are destined to marry the Moon
Princess!" Mina took a deep breath. 'I must tell him,' she thought.
"And I am not the Moon Princess!" Silence followed, then she
continued, "I am the Sailor Scout, Venus. My name is still Mina, but
I am a decoy for Princess Serena who is seeing her true love in
secret." She turned her back away from Malachite, expecting him to
leave. She jumped in surprise when she felt strong but gentle hands
settling on her shoulders.
"I will not be marrying the Moon Princess," Malachite said, softly in
her ear. "Because I am not a prince." Turning her to face him, he
gazed into her wide-opened soft blue eyes. "I am General Kunzite of
Earth. Like you, I am also a decoy for Prince Darien so he can visit
his true love. I went by the name of Malachite."
They stared at each other in silence, then Mina asked, "Why did you
propose to me?"
"I fell in love with you the first time I saw you." He smiled warmly.
"Moon Princess or not, I want to be with you, always."
Smiling back at him, she answered, "And I want to be with you for
always. Kunzite or Malachite, I don't care. I fell in love with you
when I first saw you." They embraced each other, tightly. Lying her
head against his chest, she could feel his heart beat in rhythm
against her cheek. Holding her close, he could feel her heart
thumping in rhythm against his lower chest.
At that moment, they knew...

An explosion of light occurred, and Venus and Marcus found themselves
in the cavern tunnel again. They stared at each other in awe as they
recalled more memories. "Right after we confessed our love, we found
out that Prince Darien and Princess Serena were the ones meeting each
other in secret," Venus said.
"Yes, that happened before..." Marcus trailed off as he frowned. Then
his face changed to pure horror. Venus' face also changed into horror
as they remembered. "The Negaforce!" Marcus gasped. "Something
happened to the other Generals and me, but I-I, uh, I- argh! I can't
remember anymore!"
"I can't either!" Venus grasped Marcus' hand holding the malachite
pieces. "How can we ever find out what happened?"
Feeling a vibration in their clutched hands, they both look down. A
green glow enveloped their clasped hands, and as they opened slowly,
the pieces of malachite floated up a little and formed a spinning
circle. When Venus took her hand away, they fell back into Marcus'
hand, and the glow was gone. "What does this mean?" Venus asked.
"Our touch somehow triggered it," Marcus guessed. "Maybe the answer
is in these pieces." Marcus pocketed them and held up his kunzite
stone. "We should get out of here. We'll find out more about these
pieces and see what they have to do with my stone." Venus nodded and
held up her Crystal Wand. Holding hands, they concentrated and
disappeared in a flash of light.

They stood in front of the arcade in their normal clothes. "Marcus,"
Mina said. "I just want to know. Do you recall anything about your
connection with Zoicite.?"
Marcus thought for a while, then smiled. "I remember a young man with
red golden hair who looked up to me a lot. We were like brothers,
confiding in each other and watching out for each other. I seem to
recall about this blue-haired girl who captured his heart. He sort of
teased me about falling for a certain blonde who pretended to be a
princess." Marcus smiled at her. "I didn't mind because she captured
my heart." Opening his arms to her, he said, "I hope that now she'll
let me capture hers."
Flinging into his arms, Mina gazed up at him, smiling happily. "You
already had in my dreams." Then she placed her hand on his heart. "I
can feel your heart beating," she murmured, taking his hand to place
on her heart. "Can you feel mine?"
"I've always felt it ever since I saw you in my dreams." Bending his
head, Marcus placed his lips on hers. They kissed as the morning sun
rose over the buildings.

As they broke apart, they held each other close. Mina then pulled
away. "I think we should gather everyone and find out what happened
to you and the other generals."
Marcus nodded and held her hand. "First, I'd like to catch up on our
lives for the past five years."
"Well, there's a diner that's opened this early. We could have
breakfast there," Mina suggested.
"Lead the way, then." Holding hands, they walked off into the
sunrise.
