Sailor Moon Fan Fiction ❯ The Geo-Moon Chronicles ❯ The Lines Are Drawn ( Chapter 1 )

[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]

What mankind today knows as history, at least on Earth, is a lie. Not that it's intentional, they just don't really know the truth, and that's largely my fault. Let me start at the beginning though, back before I was even thought of, before even my grandfather was born. For eons upon eons, the entire universe had been at war with each other for one thing or another. Fighting for territory mostly. And Earth was at the center of it all, back in those days though, Earth was a culture that accepted their own differences and rather than stereotyping and being prejudice towards each other, they stereotyped and were prejudice against every other planet in the universe. Every planet in Earth's solar system was inhabited by Terrans, the entire system made up the most powerful allied force in the universe, known then as the Terran Alliance. However, the regional governors decided together that a simple alliance was not enough to hold them in unity. It was in the works that all of the planets would combine their governments to one central government. Earth, of course, protested that it would take away from individual strength, but nobody else cared. Finally, Earth agreed to the plan as long as the capital was placed on it's one moon. The Alliance Leaders debated the proposal, but after a few years, they felt it was time to set aside their differences and established `The Moon Kingdom'. The initial design of the kingdom was to populate the small moon entirely, making it one enormous city, and they had almost succeeded, until a chain of events that I will get to later stopped them. The Queen, who had been unanimously voted in as the beginning of the Royal Lineage was an Earth Woman. And her daughter took the crown, so on and so forth, but something was still missing.

The missing link was recovered a few generations later. A mystic artifact, that resembled a large white gem stone, was found on Moon Soil and had a most inexplicable effect on the aging process, it slowed the process down until the one hundred year life expectancy of the Terrans populating the moon, became one thousand years. The Terrans from the other planets decided that this factor separated the Kingdom from the rest of the system and one by one the planets seceded from the kingdom on peaceful terms. Earth, who had been hoping to get their hands on the artifact, seceded first and elected their own ruler, a woman called Queen Beryl. After the last planet had seceded, the Earth launched an enormous wave assault on the kingdom, but due to the artifact's overwhelming power, now placed in the Moon Queen's care, the armies were vanquished with ease, and Queen Beryl was locked away in another dimension when she approached the young Queen Serenity for a final showdown. A few months after the infamous battle, the Moon Kingdom's high counsel decided that it was time to create an armed service who's sole purpose would be to defend the kingdom from any other invaders. However, none of them had any idea how such an organization would work, they were a peace loving people and seldom ever had to resort to violence.

As if in answer to their prayers, a stranger stepped forward. A cocky, smart mouthed Terran from mars, and a former Martian Commander. After witnessing his skills with the sword, firearms, battle tactics, piloting, and drill and ceremony, he was unanimously selected by the high counsel to both build and lead this force. He immediately began recruiting operations from his home town on Mars. Several of his friends, also former Martian Military, hastily agreed to help. Before long, the Moon Defense Team, or MDT, was born. A sector of the Moon Kingdom was reverted to industrial, crafting fighter jets, weapons, armor, and other equipment to outfit the soldiers properly. At first, Serenity was reluctant, but after a while, Jonathon Geo and his second in command, Vincent Felinine, befriended the over stressed queen, and occupied their down time by acting as crime prevention in times of peace. Decades passed and the MDT grew stronger and better equipped. Jonathon had moved his headquarters back to his hometown on Mars, claiming that his wife, and his newborn son couldn't tolerate the space travel to join him on the Moon. It was during this time that Vincent Felinine got drunk and assaulted the queen, attempting to rape her in his drunken stupor. As a result, he was found guilty of high treason and cast into exile. He went to Earth and picked up there as a Commander in the Earth's royal guard. After this event happened, a few years afterwards, Serenity became pregnant. There was no husband, or no man period that the kingdom knew of, though it was suspected that Jonathon Geo may have led a sexual stint with her, but again, that was purely speculation. However, about this time, my mother became pregnant with me as well. Unbeknownst to my father, and it was left that way, because I wasn't his. Things kept moving along, as they always do, and laws were passed to expedite the growth of the kingdom. Under the new laws, children could begin training in the trade of their choice at age thirteen, and if certified by their mentors, could attain their own employment and independence at age fifteen. Education in trivial things like history and such non essential skills, was deemed unimportant by the counsel and could be attained at the discretion of the individual in the Royal Library which was opened to the public at about the same time.

Now that we're up to speed on the history of things, let me get back to my story. When it came time for my mother to give birth, my father had been at the Lunar Palace for a few months by that point, she went over to the forest lands outside our village. Once there, she delivered me herself, as fast as she possibly could, and then fixed herself up and went back home, leaving me out in the wilderness for dead. However, when she got home, Jacob, my older brother, told her that Jonathon had called and was on his way home to take Jacob out hunting the next day and begin his training in the rare martial art of Crystalis. He was also bringing his father, Jebidiah, to live with us for his expertise in military drill and ceremony, as well as the history of the surrounding area. Weren't they surprised to find me, still very much alive, abandoned in the woods.

"Dad, it's a baby!"

"Yes it is, son, odd that we'd find one out here. Probably some premature bimbo trying to keep her good name. Come on, we're gonna have to cut this trip short, we need to get him home." He said. They cleaned me up as best as they could, and Jonathon wrapped me in his MDT jacket. It's quite ironic, actually, the first piece of clothing I ever wore, was a Moon Marine uniform.

"Mommy, mommy! Look what we found!" Jacob ran in the house yelling when they finally got home, an hour later.

"What did you find..." She started off sounding excited, but her face fell when she saw Jonathon carrying me into the house.

"Can you believe this, pops?" He asked as he stepped in. "Some bimbo must have left the poor guy to freeze to death out there. Judging by the dried blood, he was out there for quite some time too." He said handing me over to Jebidiah.

"Well, how do you do, young fellow?" He asked. I was told that when he spoke to me, I started laughing and cackling. "Well then, Jonathon, it looks like Jacob has gained a baby brother." He said.

"Pops, are you sure that's the smart thing to do? I mean Martha hasn't even looked pregnant since she delivered Jacob." He said. "Someone's bound to catch on."

"Oh pooh!" Jebidiah replied. "Who gives a rat's tail what everyone else thinks, would you rather let a prospective Marine die before he's even given a chance to serve the queen?" He asked. That was the final word, Jonathon, from that day on, my father, smiled and shook his head. He never could turn down the chance at raising his army's strength. "And think of it like this, the boy's a natural fighter, to have been left out there all this time with no blanket or clothing, amongst the wild beasts? And he's not even feverish, this boy is one in a million, Jonathon."

"So he is, I think we'll call him Jamison Andrew, after my old commander. He too was a fighter to the end." He picked me up and held me high in the air staring up at me. "What do you think? Jamison Andrew Geo, the name of a warrior." And so it came to pass that I was adopted into the family. As soon as my third birthday came and went, Jebidiah, my grandfather, began instructing me in the art of Crystalis. Jacob had three years of experience and training up on me, but I advanced much more quickly than he did, and by the time I was six, I had mastered unarmed combat and was ready to move on to swordsmanship. Jacob was nearing his mastery of unarmed combat at age nine, but wasn't quite ready yet.

"Dad, why does James get to move on to swordsmanship and I don't?" He asked one day.

"Well son, you have to reach a certain degree of self control to properly handle an impereite blade. James is a fast learner, I tested him myself and he was ready, so I permitted him to move on. You're almost there, but you still have a little ways to go." As soon as he finished with that phrase, a sibling rivalry began breaking out. and when both siblings are martial arts masters, it can get pretty intense. However, all of that changed one day on my eighth birthday. My father had decided that Jacob didn't need to complete his swordsmanship training, and skipped him ahead to marksmanship. A few weeks after I had turned eight, and began my marksmanship training, Jacob had completed his, and was granted a waiver to begin the two year training course at the Iron Eagle Academy, the training unit for the MDT. The Queen came to Mars personally with a small detachment of her royal guardians, as well as her daughter, the Princess Serena. One of the pre-requisites for gaining a waiver to the academy at such an early age, was to display the ability to defeat her elite guard by any means possible. However, the stakes were high, and many who had challenged the guard had come out with broken or missing limbs. Never-the-less, Jacob was psyched and ready to go. We all stepped out to watch him fight. Serenity and her daughter, as well as her daughter's royal guard, a group of four girls about her age, lined up beside us in a formation type deal. I recognized Serenity as the queen and myself stood at parade rest the entire time he was fighting, well almost the entire time. He started out doing fine. The five armored and armed guards began circling him and shouting degrading comments.

"Heh heh heh, looky here boys, we got a momma's boy on our hands."

"Yeah, better treat `em real gentle or else he'll go tell on us." Another one chimed in. I was overhearing the comments from my position on the porch and started to step forward, but my grandfather's hand held me back.

"This is Jacob's fight, James, never enter a battle unless the opposing force is in conflict with law, or you are challenged to do so."

"Sorry, grandfather." I replied simply and went back to parade rest.

"So who do we have here, Jebidiah? Another future Marine?" The Queen asked, smiling at my attempt to aide my brother.

"Quite so, your majesty, he's eight years old and he's already mastered unarmed and swordsmanship, he begins marksmanship training tomorrow."

"Wow, now that's impressive." One of Serena's guardian's commented. I looked over at her. She had short cut blue hair and big blue eyes. It was captivating to me, you might call it love at first sight, if you believe in such a thing. however, trained in etiquette as well, I quickly averted my gaze back to the battlefield.

"Thank you." I finally replied. Serenity smiled as did my grandfather as he patted me on the shoulder.

"Stand at ease, everyone." Serenity said. I did just that, twisting my head from side to side and popping my neck.

"Come on, Jake, you can do it." I cheered quietly. He hardly seemed like he needed it though, he was doing fine on his own and in no time at all he had the first four guards floored, all of them knocked unconscious. The last one proved to be a little bit trickier though, he drew a sword and held it out at Jacob, who drew his own. I shook my head in disbelief. but much to everyone's surprise, he was able to keep up with the guard's blows, for a while anyway, but eventually his sword was knocked away and the guard got him at sword point. "JACOB!" I shouted, shooting towards the rail, but restraining myself, remembering my grandfather's words. the guard turned to me.

"You want a piece of me, punk?" He asked. I shook my head no.

"I want the whole thing!" I replied clenching my fists and breathing heavily.

"Your Majesty?" He asked. She looked over at Jebidiah who nodded discretely. She returned the gesture to the guard. He lowered his sword and kicked Jacob aside.

"Then come and get your spanking, kid!"

"Grandfather, does that count as an invitation?" I asked through clenched teeth.

"Oh, I believe it does, James."

"Good." I stepped out from under the porches roof, removing my long sleeve shirt and tossing it off to the side as I gained a stance, drawing my own sword.

"Oh no, the kid's got a pig sticker." He laughed. "Hya!" He thrusted at me. I quickly side stepped and spun around, swinging the blade and clipping the helmet off of his head, sending it flying off a few yards away.

"Now that's really impressive!" the blue haired girl said again. I smiled slightly and beckoned the guard forward. He unleashed a fast and furious series of bladed attacks, all of which were parried with ease before I caught his hand and brought my knee up into his elbow, breaking his arm. He dropped to one knee, screaming in pain and I pulled my sword point on him, a millimeter away from his throat.

"How does it feel?" I asked. He swallowed.

"Go ahead, kid, finish me." He said challenging me with his eyes. I tightened up my muscles. I knew the law, and to kill an unarmed man was illegal, and punishable by death. Still his actions that day were unjustifiable and it took every ounce of will in my body to keep from slicing his throat.

"Get up." I said poking him slightly with the blade. holding his arm tenderly, he did as I said. I then smiled and sheathed my sword. "Hya! GEEYAHHH!" In two swift movements I planted my heel in his stomach, doubling him over, then slammed the opposite knee into his nose, tossing him onto his back with a blood covered face, and rendering him unconscious. "who's the punk now?" I asked chucking my blade into the ground beside him blade first. I then walked over and picked up my shirt, toweling off my face with it. I stopped and bowed in front of the queen. "Your highness, princess." I acknowledged them before heading into the house.

"Such a high degree of self control for such a small child, Jebidiah how did you do that?"

"I didn't, I figured he'd get cocky and get his ass whipped." Jebidiah said. "Maybe we've been underestimating the boy. At any rate, your majesty, where are my manners, you'll stay for dinner I hope?" Serenity nodded. Jacob finally walked up with his head hung.

"I failed, didn't I?" He asked.

"Whatever gave you that idea, Young Geo?" Serenity asked.

"Because I couldn't finish them." He replied.

"That's nonsense, Jacob, you passed perfectly."

"Righto." Jebidiah agreed. "No one can fight on their own."

"I bet James could." The young guardian in green whispered to the blue one. She nodded.

"Statistically speaking, it's impossible to beat all five single handedly, I've never seen it done before." She rubbed her chin thoughtfully. "But if I were to lay odds on anyone doing it..."

"You'd better believe he could do it." Jacob interrupted them. "My little brother can do anything."

"What?" My father asked him. "I thought you hated him." Jacob looked sheepish and shook his head.

"He saved my life, dad." He replied. "I mean, I realize that this was all bouting and stuff, but it might not have been, and well, you know what I mean."

"Yes, son, I know what you mean." He replied. "Now go inside and get washed up for dinner." He looked at Jebidiah. "Who says love conquers all, war won that battle." He smiled and laughed, patting his dad on the shoulder and walking back into the house. After dinner was finished, as usual, Jacob and I split the chores down the middle. Jacob cleared the table, and I washed the dishes. After they had all been washed, they marveled at mine and Jacob's `special' drying technique. A technique which consisted of throwing the dishes back and forth across the kitchen, until they were dry. After that was finished, I put on my training garb, which consisted of a pair of baggy pants with elastic at the waist band and at the ankles, ankle and wrist tape, and a leather cross harness that kept my sword strapped to my back.

"I'm gonna go outside and train now, okay grandpa?" I asked. He smiled.

"Have at it, James, but no more trees."

"Okay, grandpa, I'll be careful." I replied. He turned to Serenity.

"The last time he practiced on a tree, the trunk about destroyed the house." He said shaking his head and smiling. "He's a powerful one, he is."

"Jebidiah, I was wondering something." Serenity smiled. "Our high counsel will be needing a new elder soon, would you be interested?"

"Oh no, your majesty, my grandson's training comes first." He replied.

"He's not your grandson." Jonathon said bitterly walking by him to fill up his cup of coffee. Jebidiah looked at him seriously.

"Jacob, perhaps you could go assist your brother, critique his arts, you being the eldest and most experienced." Jebidiah suggested. Jonathon turned to Jacob and smiled.

"That is an excellent idea, and don't you dare let him slack off, you make sure to point out every mistake he makes, make the boy a Geo, like you." He pounded his chest and Jacob smiled, running out after me. "As if it's possible." Jonathon muttered under his breath after Jacob was out of ear shot.

"What is your problem, boy." Jebidiah stood up, slamming the butt end of his cane into the ground. Jonathon stopped and then turned to him.

"My problem is that my son, Jacob, has the genetic make-up of a true warrior, passed down from the dawn of the Geo's pops. James doesn't, so how in the hell is he showing Jacob up?" He asked. "It doesn't add up."

"Actually, sir, permission to speak freely." The blue haired girl said.

"Permission granted Sailor Mercury." He said.

"Some of the research I've read indicates that genetics aren't entirely responsible for making good soldiers, not nearly as much as physical and mental training, sir." She said.

"Hmm, thank you for that comment, Mercury. I'll be sure to take that into consideration when determining his punishment."

"You can't be serious." Jebidiah said.

"Oh yeah I am, the boy interfered with a time honored ritual pops, what's next? We stop using lasers and revert back to ballistics? I mean, the kid is a menace."

"I'm warning you, Jonathon, such an act is a disgrace of the Geo name."

"Oh really? And what do you know about disgrace, pops, huh? Were you the one who stepped forward to build this defense team? No! In fact, what was it you told me? That it was foolish to meddle in foreign affairs? If that's the case then why are you here training James?"

"So that he might receive a complete training regime, not some slip shot job taught by an egotistical, self absorbed up start."

"You're heading for an ass whooping old man." Jonathon started.

"Bring it on, punk." Jebidiah replied.

"GRRRAAAAAAAH!" I shouted from outside, an explosion followed and Jacob ran in, his face was white as a ghost.

"D-d-dad, um, I think James has a problem." He said. they stepped outside and saw me sitting on the ground, holding two pieces of a broken sword in my lap and clenching my teeth.

"James, are you okay?" Grandfather asked.

"Yeah, but my sword broke, I got mad and blew up the rock." They looked at the crater where a large decorative boulder had been sitting just a moment ago. Jebidiah's eyes widened and he started backing away.

"You broke an impereite blade?" Jonathon asked. "How?"

"Well, dad, I was practicing on the rock, and it just snapped. I guess I wore it out." I replied. He laughed and handed me his blade.

"Wore it out? that's funny, James, here try to break mine." He said. There was a golden crystal on the end of one side of the hand guard. I stared at it for a second. Before I got up and found a similar boulder.

"Impereite is indestructible." Sailor Mercury whispered to the others.

"No it's not." I replied, as I walked up to another boulder and gained a stance.

"Just do whatever it was you were doing before the sword broke, son." Jonathon said squatting down. I nodded and started moving in the kata the grandpa had shown me. I started slowly, but then picked up speed, moving faster and faster, striking the rock with fists, feet, and the blade of my father's sword. Before long I was hitting the rock so fast and hard that sparks were flying everywhere. Everyone in attendance was dropping their jaws as they watched. "He's fast." My dad said. Everyone else nodded. Suddenly just like before, I swung the blade and hit the rock square on. There was a sound like the shattering of glass and part of the blade snapped off flying backwards over my head and burying it's point in the ground. I stopped and looked at the sword, mortified.

"Oh no, dad's sword. You....STUPID ROCK! GGGGGRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAHH!" I shouted again thrusting my free hand towards it and turning my head. Everyone watch in amazement as a fireball traveled from the palm of my hand and slammed into rock detonating it into a thousand pieces.

"Holy shit." Jonathon said finally. Jebidiah jumped up in the air.

"Halleluiah, Praise the lord!" He shouted. "The Chosen one has finally arrived!" He motioned towards me. Suddenly Princess Serena screamed and everyone looked over in her direction, Sailor Mercury was laying on her back with a puddle of blood growing underneath her. Instantly more guards ran out.

"Oh no!" I said and I ran over to her quickly, removing my harness and using Jonathon's broken sword blade to cut a strip of cloth off of my pants leg. There was a shard of boulder that had hit her in the left eye. I picked her up and wrapped one hand around the exposed end turning away from her in time to see the imperial guard staring down at me. My eyes flashed like a bright blue light bulb were in each one and my voice had changed. "Back off!" I snarled at them, they quickly jumped back, afraid to do otherwise. I finally clenched my teeth and closed my eyes. "God help me." I said finally before yanking the shard out of the wound and turning back to it, the blood was flowing rapidly. "I don't have time for this!" I said throwing the bandage away and clapping my hand over the wound. "Fix what you break, James." I said quietly, breathing heavily. I felt a power rising in my chest and it started to burn. I began growling slightly as the burning sensation increased, the growl went to a full fledged battle cry and my hand began glowing blue with energy arcing all over it. Before anyone realized what was going on, all of the blood had been sucked back into her body and it looked as though the wound had never been there. When I was finished I struggled back to my feet with her in my arms and carried her into the house laying her down on the couch and quickly grabbing a cold, wet washcloth and laid it on her forehead gently. I then turned and started to walk away before collapsing onto the floor, coughing up blood.

"What just happened here?" Serenity asked as my mother and Jacob tended to both me and Sailor Mercury.

"Mom, isn't it obvious, James saved her life." Serena said.

"I can see that, Serena, but the question is, how?"

"I think I can answer that one." Jebidiah said.

"Oh here we go again." Jonathon started rolling his eyes.

"Jonathon, shut up." Serenity said sternly. "Go ahead, Jebidiah."

"There's a prophecy, Your Majesty, that speaks of a boy born into the wild who would possess superhuman strength, speed, and power. More specifically, the power to heal the wounded by sacrificing his own well being."

"So you're saying that James is dying like Amy would have?" Serenity asked.

"No, you see, your highness, the chosen one that I'm referring to, cannot die until his purpose has been fulfilled, and seeing as Queen Beryl hasn't been seen in almost five hundred years, I'd say it makes sense that he's arriving now."

"Whoa, what about Queen Beryl? I sent that bitch back to trailer park where she belongs, pops, you're mistaken."

"Don't tell me what I did and did not see, you spoiled brat." Jebidiah said. "I can read ancient moon script, can you?"

"Never bothered learning pops. It's a useless language."

"Well apparently it isn't, if I know what this is and the Admiral of the Moon's only line of defense doesn't." He shot back.

"Fine, okay, I'll humor you, what happens when she comes back?" Jonathon asked finally. Jebidiah motioned towards my sleeping and feverish form.

"He will kill her." He said.

"He will? What the hell do you mean he will, he's lucky he doesn't get jail time!"

"Jonathon, one more word out of you and I will cut your rank in half." Serenity said. "How much longer do we have, Jebidiah?"

"Hmmm. Not long, the chosen one will be a teen, when the Negaverse returns to the scene, led by an old familiar face, she'll try to destroy the chosen race." He recited.

"And he'll destroy her?"

"Yes, your majesty." He replied. She pointed at Jonathon.

"What about him?" she asked. Jebidiah looked frightened for a moment and his face turned white, as he closed the book he had been reading from.

"I don't want to talk about it." He said. "I'm sorry your majesty., but I'm suddenly very exhausted, begging your permission to be excused."

"Okay then, Jebidiah, I'll see you in the morning."

"Wait a minute pops, what happens to me?" Jebidiah scowled at Jonathon for a second before starting to walk off. Then he stopped and turned to Jonathon.

"Just a word of advice on the situation, my son, Karma is a bitch." He said before walking back to his room and shutting the door.

"Ohhhh, my head." Sailor Mercury started to get up. "What happened?"

"You should have seen it, Amy, it was amazing, James blew up that big rock, and a piece hit you right in the eye!" Serena said.

"That's impossible, I'm still alive." She replied.

"That's because James used the same power to heal you and take your pain away, but he had to keep it himself." Sailor Jupiter said. They all turned and looked at me, I was awake, but I was still coughing up blood.

"Glad you're okay." I choked out finally. She looked at me and a look of awe swept over her face. Then she clutched at her chest as I fell back on the couch, breathing heavily.

"Are...you okay?" she asked. I nodded.

"I'll be fine, don't worry about me." I replied.

"That's a lot of blood." she commented.

"I'm not sure how this thing works really." I said before coughing and throwing more up. "But I think I have to lose as much as you would have." I said.

"That must be painful." she said. I finished throwing up again and smiled.

"Nah, this is nothing, you should see some of the whoopings Jacob has laid on me before." I said. "Those are painful, this..." Is topped to throw up again. "...this is just a nuisance."

"Princess, I have a favor to ask." Amy said turning to Serena.

"What's up, Amy?" Serena replied.

"I suggest that we move your sleeping quarters in here for tonight, I have read quite a few books on the medical arts. I can't stop his bleeding, but I may be able to help with his pain." She said. Serena nodded.

"Mother?" She asked. Serenity nodded.

"I think it's a splendid idea." She said.

"Really not necessary." I replied. "I'll be fine..." I threw up again and this time I passed out. Amy ran over and turned my head to the side just before I vomited again, in my sleep. Jebidiah poked his head out.

"The chosen one, when named to be true, will be destined to wed the one in blue!" He shouted. "I told you." He laughed sticking his head back through the door. Jonathon smiled slightly and took a drink from his coffee.

"Yeah, that's a good one, pops, except for the military law that states that guardians are not permitted courting rites." He said, shaking his head.

"Not permitted courting rites?" Serenity asked.

"They're not permitted courting rites." He replied. "It could jeopardize the Princess's life, Serenity, one of them walking around with their head in the clouds, and suddenly biff, bang, boom, Serena's gone and the captors are using her to get to you." He said innocently. "Believe me, it's necessary." He smiled slightly. "Well then, I trust your majesty will be sleeping on the transport?" He asked.

"Of course." She said. He stepped outside and gave his orders to the guards. Sailor Mercury grabbed a clean washcloth and a bottle of aspirin as well as a glass of water.

"Would you like an assistant tonight, Miss Amy?" My mother asked.

"Thank you, Mrs. Geo, that would be very nice." She replied. "He's vomiting blood incrementally, once every two minutes right now. My guess would be that it will gradually lengthen between vomits until he just stops all together." She said. "When he wakes up, I'll give him some aspirin and water, that should help with the fever and pain a little."

"Are you sure you don't need any rest?" My mom asked.

"Oh, I'm fine, Mrs. Geo, it's the least I could do, I mean, he did save my life." She said.

"Okay then. I'll be right in the kitchen if you need anything."

"Geo...Crystalis....Power....ohhhh." I moaned in my sleep. Sailor Mercury was true to her word and she stayed up all night with me. The next morning, she was there just as I woke up and handed me the aspirin and water.

"Take this, it'll help with the headache." She said. I nodded slowly and took the medicine. I looked confused for a moment.

"When did I stop throwing up?"

"A few hours ago. And just as I suspected, just like you said, rather, you threw up as much blood as a human body my size can hold." I stood up slowly and began stretching out.

"Are you feeling okay?" I asked.

"Just fine, thanks for asking." She replied. "James, why did you do that for me?" She asked finally.

"Well, Sailor Mercury..."

"Please, call me Amy." She replied. I smiled.

"Okay then, Amy, I want to join the Moon Defense Team one day. And their primary goal is to defend the Moon Kingdom and all people in it's bounds, you fall under that category." I replied.

"I think that taking someone's pain for yourself goes a bit above and beyond the call of duty." she replied, smiling. I shrugged.

"If you were able, wouldn't you have done the same for me?" I asked.

"I don't know." She replied." My job as a Sailor Scout is to protect the princess, I've never thought of doing something like that for anyone else." I nodded.

"Must be tough." I replied. "I mean, that's like a twenty-four hour a day job, isn't it?"

"We sleep in shifts." She replied smiling. "And it is tough, but it's worth every minute of it, because the five of us are really good friends." I sat back down and drank some more water.

"I don't have any friends." I replied. "My training has never allowed me time for friends." I said. "It's always been just me and Jacob." I smiled.

"Well you have one now." Amy replied.

"Really?" I asked.

"Sure, me." She smiled. "You saved my life, only a true friend would do something like that." She said. "I mean, I know that any of my friends would have done what you did, if it were possible." she said.

"Well, it's four in the morning, Amy, and I'd love to stick around and talk, but I've got to get started. I've only got three years to get ready for my trial." I said as I planted my hands on the floor and kicked my legs up until they were resting against the wall. I started doing push-ups from that position. "And there's no time to lose."

"Right, Well, I'm sure you'll do fine."

"Definitely." Lita replied from her position in front of Serena. "Amy, why don't you get some sleep, wake one of the others."

"No, that's okay." I said. "Which of you is the ranking officer?" I asked.

"I am." Amy replied. "Though I never use it."

"If you don't mind, Amy, you covered for me while I slept. Please, let me return the favor." I said.

"But I was just returning the favor you did me by saving my life."

"I won't take no for an answer." I replied. She looked worried for a moment.

"James, you're not a guardian." My father's voice said from the kitchen.

"You don't need a rank and a uniform to protect someone, dad." I replied.

"Really, then protect her from me." He said drawing a knife and walking towards me. I gained a stance and faced him. He began advancing slowly. Lita took a stance as well. "You, stand down, this is James's job, he wants a shot at it, he's gonna get it."

"Yes sir." Lita replied, backing away. I continued to hold my stance. He then charged with lightening speed, breaking past me, and stabbed downwards at the princess. I launched my foot across the couch, where she was sleeping and kicked the knife out of his hand, shattering the glass, and punching him with a right hook, knocking him away. Serena screamed when she woke up and saw what was going on. The lights suddenly came back on and everyone in the house was awake. I regained my stance and looked at him, as he picked himself up off the floor and wiped the blood off his face.
