Sailor Moon Fan Fiction ❯ The Geo-Moon Chronicles ❯ The Final Answer ( Chapter 8 )

[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]

After a while I got back up and resumed my drinking, other than that I don't remember much of that night. The next morning, Admiral Lovette didn't see me for morning training or breakfast, and finally sent for the scouts.

"Sir, Commander Mina Tanner reporting as ordered, sir."

"Where the hell is James?" He asked, angrily, "stand at rest."

"Sir, he's probably hung over, he had a pretty bad night last night." She replied. He stopped and looked up at her from behind his desk.

"Bad night?" He asked. "What? Did my questioning him have that much of a profound impact? I drove him to drinking?"

"Not you, sir, it's a personal issue between him and Sailor Mercury."

"Sir, we've just received word from Vice Admiral Geo, he's taking a few days of leave sir." A voice said over the intercom.

"Any word on where he's going?"

"Well sir, when I asked him, he said he'd be in hell if we needed him, he sounded pretty wasted sir." Admiral Lovette looked up at the scouts.

"Is he suicidal?" He asked.

"No sir, just seriously upset."

"Can I ask why?"

"Sir, I really don't feel that it's my place to say anything." Mina replied. Admiral Lovette nodded and looked at Amy.

"Well, what the hell did you do to him?" He asked. Amy struggled to control herself. "Never mind that, it's none of my business, are the Princess and Queen secured?" He asked.

"As always, sir." Mina replied.

"Good, get your pretty little asses up there and talk to him, find out how he's doing, then report back." He said.

"Yes sir." Mina replied saluting. He returned the gesture.

"Dismissed." He said. They turned around and walked back out of his office and headed towards my chambers.

"He's such a pig." Lita said.

"Believe me, I know." Mina replied. She then turned to Amy. "Are you okay with this?" She asked.

"I'll be fine." Amy replied quietly. They reached my door and knocked. There was no answer, after a few tries at this, Amy stepped up and pressed her hand against the entry panel, the door opened and they stepped in to find the place a disaster area. Trash and bottles were everywhere, as well as uniform and clothing pieces. They then heard a gunshot coming from the balcony.

"James!" Amy shouted and they all took off running towards the bedroom. Much to their surprise, I was standing on the balcony, naked, and there were a few dead birds laying around me. I took aim on another one and shot again, there was a screeching sound that indicated my successful shot. I then took another drink from the bottle in my other hand. "James, what are you doing?" Amy asked. I turned around to face the girls holding the gun out in front of me. all of them jumped back, holding their hands up. After seeing the girls, I lowered the pistol.

"Who are you?" I asked, my voice made it obvious that I was completely plastered. "Hey how's it going girls?" I asked waving at them, before taking another drink. "Ya know something, I'm a better shooter when I'm drunk then I yam when I'm..." I looked thoughtful for a moment, "...not drunk, what's the word?"

"Eh hem, sober?" Lita asked. They were all struggling to keep from laughing at me. I heard a bird call and quickly whipped around and pulled the trigger, however I wasn't braced, and the kick back knocked me off my feet. I started laughing uncontrollably as I laid there.

"Got the mother fucker, ha ha!" I shouted. Amy quickly grabbed a sheet and walked over to me helping me up and wrapping the sheet around me like a towel. I started doing a stupid little dance when she had finished. "Look, I'm in a toga! Is this the body of a god or what?" I said gaining a stance.

"Uh huh." Lita replied. "But, um, you might wanna check that lightning bolt before you hurl it, Zeus." She said. I quickly looked down at myself and looked back up smiling.

"It's a lil' chilly outside today." I explained.

"Ahh." Mina was finding it hard to contain the laughter, as were the other two.

"Man, oh man, I hope CI is getting this." Lita said. Amy finished with the sheet and draped one of my arms over her shoulder and helped me back into the house.

"Come on, James, let's get you to bed."

"But...the birds..." I started to turn around.

"The birds will still be there later, I promise." She said.

"Well, okay." I finally agreed. I started to take another drink, but she intercepted the bottle and took it away.

"I think you've had enough of that." I turned and looked at her strangely for a second.

"Say, you kinda look like my girlfriend, ya know...'sept she's way prettier than you and all...she's hot..." I smiled as she took the pistol away from me and dropped the clip, emptying the chamber and sighing.

"Hey, James, you say your girlfriend is hot?" Lita asked.

"Yup, the hottest thing in this whole damn kingdom." I replied, spinning around and throwing a finger up in the air, knocking over a lamp and breaking it. I looked down at it and looked back up. "Hope that wasn't expensive."

"Have you ever...had sex with her?" Lita asked smiling. Amy glared up at her suddenly, as she helped me into the bed, covering me up.

"Oh yeah." I replied pulling the blanket up over my chest and smiling. "She's like the best at it too, she does this really freaky thing with her..." Amy quickly clapped a hand over my mouth and blushed.

"Okay that's enough of that, you need to go to sleep now, okay? Rest up and start feeling better." She said. The girls couldn't contain it anymore and ran back out to the living room and started cracking up.I lowered my gaze and shook my head.

"I can't." I replied quietly.

"What, you can't sleep?" She asked. I shook my head.

"No, I can't feel better, I popped the question to her yesterday, but she won't answer me...I don't think she wants me anymore..." I trailed off and a tear formed in the corner of each of my eyes. "It hurts not havin' her here, ya know she used to tuck me in like this every night?" I said. She stopped and smiled wiping a tear out of her own eyes. I rolled over and closed my eyes,

"I hope she comes back..." I said groggily.

"She will." Amy replied quietly.

"Really?" I asked, my eyes still closed. "Do you think she'll marry me?" I asked. She smiled again and nodded.

"Yeah, I do." She replied. I smiled.

"She's still hotter than you." I said plainly before snuggling down into the pillow. Amy sat there for a few minutes before getting up and moving back out into the living room with the others. They were still laughing when she walked out, crying.

"So, Amy, you're a freak huh?" Lita said, her face fell when she saw the expression on Amy's face. "I was just kidding."

"No." Amy replied waving her hand. "It's not that, what was I thinking?" She asked. She quickly pulled the ring box out from her utility pocket and opened it putting the ring on. Everyone in the room looked back and forth at each other and then up at her.

"What's up, Amy?"

"He's so sweet, what was I thinking."

"So you're gonna marry him?" Raye asked. Amy nodded, smiling through her tears. They all three ran up and wrapped her in a big group hug.

"Congratulations girl, we should go tell the Admiral what's going on." Raye said. Amy nodded.

"Go on ahead, I'm gonna start cleaning up." She said looking around.

"Okay, we'll be back to help in a few minutes." Mina replied. I woke up later that night with a throbbing headache and walked out to the living room, everything was spotless. It was about that time that I noticed I was wearing a bed sheet.

"What the? A toga? Man was I drunk." I said. That's when everyone stepped out of the dining room and looked at me. Even Serena and Darien were there. I didn't notice them as I kept walking into the kitchen and found the pain reliever. I poured a glass of ice water and downed three of them before noticing the ring box and a note on the counter top. I picked the ring box up with one hand and the note with the other. "James, please take this back, I don't need it anymore, love, Amy." I sank down to the ground and started flipping the ring box over and over in my hands. That's when I noticed that it felt incredibly light weight. I opened the box and the ring was gone. That's when Amy walked around the corner and smiled at me. I looked at her finger, where the ring sat, shimmering beautifully. "Oh my god." I shot to my feet and walked up to her. "Does this mean what I'm hoping this means?" I asked. She nodded and smiled. I quickly grabbed her off the ground and wrapped her up in a tight embrace laughing and spinning around before I had to stop and set her back down so I could clutch my head. She quickly helped me regain my balance. "Just one thing, I'm gonna have to get the tapes from CI and find out exactly what happened to the last twenty four hours of my life, because I remember you running out, and then I woke up in a bed sheet, made up like a fricken Greek costume. I vaguely remember a bunch of girls in the room at some point too, but that's about it."

"Oh yeah." Lita said. "You were displaying your godly body." She said. "And shooting birds from the balcony in the nude." I smiled and looked back at Amy. she nodded.

"That was you?!?!?" I asked. I blushed and set the ring box and note down hiding my face with my hands, while everyone laughed.

"So, James," Darien said smiling. "Exactly what is that freaky thing you were talking about? You know the thing that Amy does?" He asked. I looked strangely at him.

"What are you...oh!" I stopped, then I thought about it and started chuckling again. "Um, I've probably said too much, so I'm gonna go get a shower and get changed before I get grounded." I said scratching my head and walking back to the bedroom. Once I got to the door I stuck my head back out and smiled. "I'll tell you later." I said before quickly pulling the door closed and locking it before Amy could get in. She started pounding on the door.

"Jamison Andrew Geo don't you dare!" She shouted. She turned back around, her face was blood red with embarrassment.

"Don't worry, babe, I don't give away trade secrets." she exhaled a breath of relief. "They're called trade secrets for a reason, he has to trade one to get one." I said. Darien started laughing, but Serena stepped around in front of him and scowled at him.

"Eh hem, um James, I'm gonna have to take a rain check on that one." He shouted. After I showered and dressed in my jeans and t-shirt I joined them in the dining room. The rest of the evening was filled with a lot of talk and laughter. Amy made a call and put in for a day of leave time that night as well. The next morning I woke up with a knock on the door.

"Who is it?" I asked looking at the clock. It was ten in the morning.

"Admiral Lovette." Came the reply.

"Shit, just a minute, sir." I shouted back, climbing out of bed and grabbing my bath robe, fastening the terrycloth rope securely around my waist. I then lit a cigarette and made my way to the door. When I opened it, he extended his hands, in one was a bottle of wine, in the other was a silver flask with the MDT's emblem on it. "Thank you, sir." I replied.

"May I come in?" He asked. I backed out of the way and let him in.

"Absolutely." I replied. Just then Amy poked her head around the corner, it was obvious that she wasn't wearing anything.

"James, honey, who is it?"

"It's the Admiral, babe." I replied walking over to the fridge and putting the wine inside. Amy quickly darted back behind the door.

"Sorry sir." She shouted.

"Quite alright, Sailor Mercury, take your time." He replied. "James, I was saving that wine for a special occasion, and I can't think of a better occasion then my best marine getting married to one of the most beautiful women in the kingdom."

"The most beautiful," I corrected him. "Did you wanna crack it open now?" I asked.

"Please." He replied. I took the bottle back out and pulled out three wine glasses popping the cork and pouring a little bit into each glass. He glanced back at the bedroom taking a sip from his glass and then looking back at me. "Long night?" He asked. I smiled and nodded.

"Actually sir, I think it went by a little too fast." I replied. "What's in the flask?" I asked.

"Special home brew." He replied. "Just remember, drink in moderation." He pointed out, lighting a cigarette of his own. "I heard about your...indiscretion yesterday." He said. "You must have balls the size of this moon, James."

"Actually sir, my memories of most of yesterday are kinda blurry." I replied. He started laughing.

"I'm not surprised, from what Mina told me, you were completely gone." About that time, Amy walked back out, wearing her usual conservative top and knee length skirt. She joined us in the glass of wine as we talked. After the wine was finished, the Admiral left and I got a shower and dressed in my usual jeans and t-shirt. At noon we went down to the mess hall and ate with the RPU.

"Admiral on deck, ten hut!" Daniel yelled when we walked in. We got our trays and sat down at the table with the other scouts, Serena, Darien, and Daniel. After we sat down, Daniel stood up. "Can I have everyone's attention? I have just received word, that Vice Admiral James and Lieutenant Amy are engaged as of yesterday." He said. The room broke out into cheers and applause.

"I knew it, he got laid." One of them said, they all laughed. I stood up.

"Thank you gentlemen..."

"Sir, you must be mistaking us for someone else, sir." One of them said. "We're not gentlemen, we're guardians." I slapped my forehead and smiled.

"Oh yeah, I keep forgetting." I replied. Everyone groaned. "I just wanted to let everyone know that I appreciate what you guys do here, I do remember my roots as the RPU commander, and that come hell or high water, you're still pulling duty that night." I smiled. They groaned again. "Oh come on, just because I'm a big dog now don't mean I can't still joke, you're all invited, just, some of you will be in uniform is all." They laughed again. "Now then, unless Commander Wolfehart has gone soft since I left, I believe you're still on a thirty minute lunch break here."

"Sir, yes sir!" they shouted back. We sat down and finished the meal with a small amount of conversation before heading out to the courtyard. Once we got out there, we were approached by the high counsel elders.

"Well, James, congratulations, I heard the news." Grandfather said. "Still planning on the sixteenth harvest?" He asked.

"Yeah." I replied. "But the plans will make it more of a slap in the face." I said. "Because Felinine, Beryl, and the rest of them will be long gone before the sixteenth harvest."

"You must be pretty confident to be taking a day off this close to zero hour." He smiled.

"Have I ever been anything else?" I asked him. Amy cleared her throat.

"Okay, so I'm human, sue me." I said.

"I also hear that you have a bright future as an underwear model." He said. "Do you know anything about that?" I sighed.

"Yeah, I got a little drunk..."

"A little?" Amy asked.

"Okay, I got wasted and was nude on the balcony shooting birds." I said. "That's one thing I will say in Jonathon's defense, he had an excellent taste in liquor." I took another hit from the cigarette.

"We heard back from the outer senshi." Artemus said suddenly. "They said that they will help you, as long as you fulfill your end of the bargain." He said. I nodded.

"Well they have nothing to worry about there." I replied. The rest of the day passed by quickly, and the next morning we were all prepared for the worst. The morning started out the same as always, but instead of the regular training schedule, the preparations were made for the celebration. It was said that this ball was in honor of mine and Amy's engagement, it made the ball legitimate, but we should have taken the outcome of the night as a harbinger of things to come. Everything was going perfectly, the guests were enjoying themselves, security was tight, and everyone was in place. Then Jacob went up to the stage to propose a toast.

"Can I have everyone's attention for a few moments." He said into the microphone, "as we all know, we're here to celebrate three things tonight. The first thing, is the finalization of the Moon Kingdom's war preparations, secondly, the recent engagement of my brother to Sailor Mercury, Lieutenant Amy Anderson, and finally, well this one's more of a reason to mourn than celebrate, the fact that the kingdom's most eligible batchelorettes are now down to three." The room exploded into laughter. "No, but seriously folks, all of us should know that true love is a reason to celebrate, regardless of how freaky the sex is, yes James, we've all seen the tapes." He said. Amy blushed a deep red and I just kinda smiled and shook my head.

"Your just jealous!" I yelled up to him.

"Okay, so he's got me there." Jacob said shrugging, "but anyways, true love is a reason to celebrate. when you find it. A lot of us can spend years and years before we finally realize that it's been right there the whole time. My brother is one of the luckier ones, he realized it right away. I remember back on Mars where we grew up. I was receiving my trial for entry into the Iron Eagle, and I beat the hell out of the first four out of five. But the fifth one just got the better of me, and James just kind of jumped in and pulled me out of trouble. Well he was kind of upset that the guard had been so rough and just flat out assholish, and we went out after dinner to train for a bit. The guy broke an impereite sword, an accomplishment in itself, but then he gets all pissed and just shoots this fireball out of his hand and blows the boulder that he snapped it on to pieces. Of course I was just awed by the act and ran in to tell my old man, he comes out, and," He paused to cut a short laugh, "the idiot gives James his impereite sword and tells him to do it again. Well of course he does, but this time it was dad's sword, and now he's really pissed and blows up that rock too. There was a chain of events that followed that, which lead us to this party tonight, but my point in talking is with those two boulders. James has an attitude that's a rare commodity to find in the military brass these days. He will work at beating an obstacle until it breaks him, but then he comes back bigger and badder than ever, blowing them out of the water. That's a great quality to have these days, and because both he and Amy possess this quality, I know for a fact that their love will keep on going even after death. On that note here's some food for thought, who here pities the grim reaper when James's turn to go comes around, show of hands..." Every hand in the room shot up. Jacob laughed. "Right now, Satan's down there looking for his army, unbeknownst to him, they're all at the unemployment office looking for new jobs." He smiled and shook his head. "Sorry, I got way off track. James and Amy, the whole kingdom is rootin' for you, here's to you." Everyone lifted their glasses. Suddenly, my earpiece sparked to life.

"Sir, um, you know that armada that was on Earth just a few minutes ago?" Sid's voice asked. I pressed my hand to my earpiece.

"What do you mean, was?" I asked.

"Sir, it's disappeared, no tachyon of any kind, we're not sure what happened."

"Sid, we need to find that armada."

"Red Alert, I repeat Red Alert!" Sid's voice came back. "The planet Armada was a cover, sir, they're already here!" My eyes widened and started darting back and forth. Suddenly I saw it, a pair of glowing red dots hovering behind Jacob.

"JACOB!!!!!! DOWN!!!!!!!!!" I shouted drawing my gun and running forward. Jacob hit the deck and the bullets tore through the cloaked figure's body with ease, knocking him backwards into the display behind him. I returned my attention to the earpiece. "Sid!"

"Cold fusion start up codes have been deployed, within seconds all available pilots will be airborne sir."

"RPU, Commander, come in." I said.

"What's up?" Daniel asked.

"Get your men into position now, inform the palace units to be fully armored with shell shock automatic weapons and riot armor."

"Yes sir."

"Rocky, where are you?" A series of explosions outside the building caught my attention.

"That answer your question, sir?" He asked. "We've encountered ground forces outside the reception hall, sir, we're holding them."

"I need five minutes." I replied. "Jason! Jacob! Get these people out of here!" Just then the cloaked figure dropped his field and revealed that he was still very much alive. I started advancing on him, my face a twisted mask of fury. That's when Serena's scream caught my attention. I quickly spun around and fired the pistol twice, putting two bullets through the head of an assailant about to ram a sword through her.

"SHINE AQUA ILLUSION!!!!!!!" Amy shouted. Instantly a jet of water knocked several of the soldiers through the walls of the reception hall. About that time, the Legacy Beta came into hover mode over the building and about ten rope ladders dropped to the ground. The building evacuation had begun. I turned back to the figure who was now taunting me with his hand, beckoning me to come closer. He wore a suit of armor completely plated in gold, and six tentacles were waiving around from the center of his back. The tentacles looked like they were composed of a liquid metal substance. His exposed mouth revealed a toothy grin. Suddenly one of the tentacles shot towards me and knocked the gun out of my hand. I continued forward, snarling with each step I took. That's when it happened, another tentacle shot forward and slammed through my abdomen, spattering blood behind me. I jumped backwards and fell to the ground. Everything suddenly went into slow motion. I felt an enormous surge of energy pulsate through my body, crawling underneath my flesh like a sand scarab. Suddenly there was a flash of light and I lifted my head and arms launching four fireballs at the man. But not before he launched all six tentacles back at me. The connections were simultaneous. All six tentacles pierced my body in various places, and the fireballs connected with his body launching him backwards through the building's wall and out into the ocean. I rolled over and struggled back to my feet, grabbing the rifle from a fallen RPU guard and standing up, running towards Serena, who was now hidden among the enemy soldiers that had broke through Rocky's skirmish line. I unloaded the clip and held the rifle, bayonet attached, high into the air charging into the fray slicing, stabbing, and mowing a path through to Serena. I had almost reached her when a roaring sound dropped in from above. Rocky grabbed Serena, and several of his soldiers grabbed the other remnants of the crowd, including myself, taking back to the skies and heading back to the palace. The one carrying me looked down at me.

"Oh shit! Sir, I've got the Vice-Admiral, he's been hit, multiple times from the looks of it!" Rocky looked back over his shoulder.

"Dammit! Fly, Marine, get his ass to the infirmary, now!"

"James!!!" Amy shouted. The last thing I remember is watching the rifle fall from my blood soaked hands to the ground below, before I blacked out. I woke up in the infirmary, there were others all around me, when my eyes opened, Amy was there looking at me with a tear stained smile on her face. I quickly sat up, ripping the monitors off my chest.

"Gyah! Serena!" I said looking around.

"Yes, Admiral?" She asked from the other side. After realizing that we were out of danger, I sighed and fell backwards.

"How long was I out?"

"Three days." Darien replied. "James, I want to thank you."

"For what, Darien?"

"Without you, Serena would have died in that battle."

"How did it go?" I asked.

"We stomped the hell out of them." Lita replied. "Our casualty list was in the forties, several hundred were injured though, some of them probably won't make it back into the corps."

"Any prominent figures?" I asked.

"Just one." Mina replied. "Admiral Lovette." I sat up again.

"He's dead?"

"Yes, he committed suicide on his balcony immediately after the tachyon field was raised."

"He was an informant, sir." Sid replied. "I tried to tell you but I lost your signal before I could relay the message."

"However, that means that you're next in line." Raye replied. "And there's no doubt in anyone's mind that you'll be the next Admiral." I lifted the sheet, checking to make sure I still had pants on. The remnants of my uniform pants made a nice pair of cut off shorts, but they were still there. I quickly removed the rest of the monitors and stood up.

"I need to go, we have a lot to do, Hell's Gates will be lined up in just a few days now." I said. "We have a lot to do."

"You said that already." Amy replied gently pushing me backwards. "Jacob is handling things, you need to relax, in case you don't remember, you almost died out there."

"He's awake!" Serenity said walking in. "James, I just came back from the high counsel hall, they wish to give you these in recognition of your superior planning skills and foresight." She laid a pair of Admiral's ranks on my lap. "For the first time in Moon Kingdom history, an Admiral was unanimously agreed upon by the entire kingdom. Thanks to you, we'll live to see another day." I looked down at the ranks and a tear rolled down my cheek.

"James, honey, are you okay?" Amy asked.

"It was my father." I replied quietly.

"What?"

"The bastard in the golden armor, it was my fucking father." I said. "Let me ask you something, what is my problem? Why is it that every family member that I have keeps trying to kill me, or get me killed?" I held up my hand and counted on my fingers. "My mom left me in the woods to die, my grandpa told me to go fight that guard hoping I'd get my ass kicked, my adopted father beat the hell out of me, and now my biological father tries to cut me to pieces, is there something in my genetic structure that says: `Hey everyone, I'm easy, come on, kill me!' Can't I, just once, find someone that I can care about that won't try to hurt, maim, or destroy me?" I asked. Amy nodded.

"You have me." She replied. "I haven't hurt you, I haven't tried to kill you, though if you ever get as drunk as you were the other day again, it's a very tempting thought."

"So what am I? Chopped liver?" Jacob asked. I looked sarcastic and rolled my eyes.

"No, you're next." I replied. Everyone kind of laughed. Then Jacob stopped and wiped his nose.

"Um, that was a joke right?" He asked. I nodded and he let out a sigh of relief.
