Chapter 1: Visions of the Past
Moon Kingdom- 1000 years ago.....
"Marissa! Marissa, where are you?" a kind sounding voice called out.
"Over by the creek, Serenity-chan!"
Serenity walked over to the creek, where she found her sister sitting by the creek, picking wildflowers. "Marissa, you know better not to run off like this," Serenity said, kneeling next to her younger sister.
Marissa looked up from her boquet of wildflowers, "Gomen nasai Serenity, but you know how much I hate these silly dances. I know you do."
Serenity smiled softly. "Yes, that's true, but you must understand that we are princesses and we have a obligation to our people." As she stood up, she said, "Now come on, Mother is waiting for us." Her smile grew wider. And Endymion is here also."
Marissa squealed, jumping up. "Soo ka? Let's go then!" Holding her dress up slightly, wildflowers still in hand, she started running towards the palace.
Serenity giggled, shaking her head. Her sister could be so carefree, and it made her jealous sometimes. Now fifteen, Serenity had to start taking on more responibilities, for she was the Moon Kingdom's next queen. And though Marissa was a year younger, and would not become queen, she too would have responibilites as a princess. With a soft sigh, Serenity started to make her way back to the palace.
"Endymion-sama!" Marissa ran into the ballroom and quickly hugged the Prince of Earth.
Endymion chuckled. "Princess Marissa, not so tight!"
Marissa let go of him slightly and beamed at him. "Endymion-sama, I was wondering when you were coming back! How have you been?"
"I've been just fine Mari-chan," he said smiling. "and of course I'd be back. Nothing could keep me away from your beautiful sister."
"Endymion, please! You're embarrassing me!" Marissa let go of Endymion as Serenity crossed the ballroom floor.
Endymion held out his hand. "My beautiful Princess Serenity." When she placed her hand in his, he kissed it gently. You grow more beautiful each time I see you." Just then another song began to play. "May I have this dance?"
Serenity giggled. "You may, my Prince." She let Endymion lead her onto the dance floor and the two began to dance gracefully across the floor. Everyone soon stopped to watch the two in awe.
Marissa watched them for a moment before turning and noticing a woman standing next to her. Smiling, she gracefully bowed before her. "Okassan."
Queen Serenity smiled back. "Musume, where have you been? I was getting worried."
Gomen nasai Okassan. I was over by the creek, picking wildflowers." She lifted up the boquet of flowers.
"At least you are back safely." Queen Serenity took Marissa's hand. "Now come. "I have some people I want you to meet."
"Alright." Marissa let her mother lead her over to where three guys were waiting, one with brown, one with black, and one with white.
Queen Serenity smiled at them. "Gentleman, I would like to introduce you to my daughter, Marissa. Musume, these are the princes of the Starlight Galaxy."
The one with long brown hair bowed slightly. "I am Taiki. It is a pleasure to meet you, Princess."
"I am Seiya, the oldest," the one with dark hair smiled as he bowed also.
The one with silverly white hair came foreward and took Marissa's hand into his, his ice blue eyes looking into her bright blue ones. "I am Yaten. It is a honor finally meeting you, Princess Marissa." He leaned over and gently kissed her hand.
A light blush covered Marissa's cheeks. "It's... a honor to meet you too," she said, not being able to look away from the young prince. 'This boy is gorgous!' she thought to herself.
Yaten looked back up at Marissa as a new song began. "May I have this dance, Princess?" He held his hand out to her.
"H-hai." Still holding Marissa's hand, Yaten walked her out onto the dance floor and they both started to dance. All the other dancers stopped and watched in awe as their younger princess danced gracefully with the handsome prince.
Yaten twirled Marissa around gently. "Princess, do you mind if I ask you a question?"
"Of course not," she replied. "What is it."
He stopped dancing and looked at her. "You see, I came here for a reason, and that was to ask for your hand in marriage."
Marissa blinked, both shocked and suprised. "M-me? But why?"
"My mother, Princess Kakyuu, believes that because you are the Sailor Senshi and Princess of peace and happiness, you could bring it to to our planet, but it isn't my only reason for asking you. You are a kind and loving person, and I have always admired you for that.
Marissa blushed and looked down. "That's very kind of you to say, but I don't know if I'm ready...."
Yaten brought one of her hands up to his lips. "That's alright, I'll wait until you are, Princess." When Marissa looked up and saw Yaten's eyes, she believed him.
Several months later.
"Why Yaten-san! How nice to see you!"
Yaten bowed to Queen Serenity. "Good afternoon Serenity-sama. I'm here to see your daughter. Is she around?"
Queen Serenity smiled. "Hai, she is in the garden with Uranus and Neptune. I see you two have become very close, Yaten-san."
Yaten smiled back. "Hai, I would like to think so. I am quite fond of her."
"I'm happy about that." She heard someone call for her. "I have to go attend to some things. It was wonderful to see you again Yaten-san."
"Same to you Serenity-sama." Yaten bowed to the Queen as she left. He then turned and headed towards the garden.
"Princess, please be careful!"
"Oh Uranus, I'm fine!" Marissa was balancing upon a beam like structure, ten feet from the ground, which was making Uranus nervous.
"Princess...." Uranus started to get up, but Neptune stopped her.
"She'll be fine," Neptune said, smiling. "She's been doing this longer than you think."
"Hmmph!" Uranus crossed her arms. "See if I care when she falls."
"Really Uranus, you need to loosen up a bit." Marissa went backwards and held herself upside down, making her skirt fall over her head. "See, I'm still up here!"
"Princess Marissa!" Uranus exclaimed, her face going red. Neptune tried to hold back a giggle. "Princess, if anyone sees...."
"Too late."
Marissa let out a gasp and fell off the wall, and was sure she was going to his the ground, but instead fell into a strong pair of arms. She quickly pushed her skirt out of her face, and was sure she was blushing a bright red. "Yaten-san!"
Yaten smiled at her. "Good afternoon, Marissa-chan." Gently he placed her back on the ground.
Marissa quickly fixed her dress. "Domo arigato for saving me," she said, her face still pink.
"It was my pleasure." He looked over at the two Sailor Senshi. "Sailor Neptune, Sailor Uranus, it's nice to see you."
Neptune nodded. "Likewise Prince Yaten." She nudged Uranus, but she stood there with her arms crossed, frowning.
"I'm going back to the palace." Uranus then turned on her heel and headed back without another word. Neptune gave a look of apoligy before following her.
Marissa looked at Yaten. "Don't mind her, she's just very protective of me."
"It's alright. I am too." He kissed her hand. "You need to be more careful, Marissa-chan."
"I wouldn't have fallen off if you hadn't startled me so," she said smiling, "but I'll be more careful if it makes you happy."
Yaten laughed. "Very much so." His face became sober as he placed a hand on Marissa's cheek. "It would kill me if I lost you."
Marissa blinked surprised, before taking one of her own hands and covering the one on her face. "It would be the same for me if I lost you too."
They stared at each other for what seemed like a eternity before Yaten stepped foreward and slowly lowered his lips to hers.
Marissa's eyes slipped shut as she felt Yaten's breath against her lips, but nearly fainted when his lips touched hers. Neither moved for a moment until Marissa put a hand behind Yaten's neck and brought him closer.
Yaten let out a soft groan as his arms wrapped around Marissa's waist. For months he had dreamt of this moment, and now it was happening, and it was more wonderful than he ever though it would be.
When the kiss ended, Yaten noticed that ever since Marissa opened her eyes again, she hadn't blinked. "Marissa-chan? Are you alright?" he asked worriedly. "Was I too foreward?"
"Nani? Oh no, not at all!" she quickly said, regaining her bearings. "I just.... didn't know it could be like this...."
"What?"
"Love...." She took his hand in hers and twined them together. "I love you Yaten, and yes, I will marry you."
A huge smile grew on Yaten's face. He lifted her into his arms, making her squeal in surprise. "You just made me the happiest man alive."
Marissa laughed as he spun her around. "Yaten! Put me down!"
"No way." He slowly stopped spinning and looked at her. "Now that I have you, I'm NEVER letting you go."
Marissa looked at Yaten for a moment before wrapping her arms tighter around him and layed her head on his shoulder. "I hope you never do."
Yaten put her down on the ground gently. "Come on, let's go tell everyone the great news."
"Hai!" Hand in hand they started towards the palace when a loud explosion was heard, and a moment later one of the palace towers fell. "Kami-sama! We're being attacked!"
"Come on!" They both ran as fast they could towards the palace. On their way, they saw Sailor Mars, who was badly hurt.
"Mars!" Marissa knelt down next to her friend. "What's happening?!?"
"P-Princess...." Mars said weakly, "...being attacked......Galaxia...."
Yaten's eyes widened slightly. "Galaxia?! It can't be!"
"...after...Imperium....Rainbow....Crystal...." Mars took Marissa's hand. "You must get out Princess."
"No! I'm not leaving you! You're hurt!" Marissa felt tears sting the back of her eyes.
"Protect....Serenity.....Sailor Starburst...." Mars' eyes slipped closed and her breathing soon stopped.
"MARS!!" Tears slipped down Marissa cheeks. "NO!!!"
"Marissa, its not safe here!" Yaten pulled her to her feet. "We must...."
"Yaten!" Seiya and Taiki ran up to them. "Queen Serenity is badly hurt. Most of the Sailor Senshi have already...." Seiya couldn't finished the sentence.
"I understand." Yaten turned to Marissa. "I know I promised I'd never leave you, but I must help protect the kingdom."
More tears slipped down Marissa's cheeks. "I understand," she whispered.
Yaten brought her close and long and hard on the lips. "Remember," he said softly to her when they parted, "no matter what happens, I will find you again. I love you Marissa." He pulled out his sword and turned to his brothers. "Let's go." They ran toward the battle.
"I love you too...." Marissa pulled out a crystal from out of no where and raised it in the air. "IMPERIUM RAINBOW CRYSTAL! TURN ME INTO THE SENSHI OF PEACE AND HAPPINESS!" A bright light surround her and when it disapeared, she was now in a yellow Senshi uniform. Her skirt was several layers of yellow and white with gloves that went up to her elbows, and boots that stopped past the ankles. A long yellow bow was in the back, and her hair was now up in a ponytail, a white bow holding it in place. The Imperium Rainbow Crystal, now in a brooch that was in the shape of a heart, with a rainbow in the center of it, was now in the middle of her chest in the middle of a bow. "Hold on Okassan, Serenity! I'm coming!" She ran in the same direction that Yaten and his brothers ran in.
When she got there, her eyes widened in horror. Her love, along with his brother, were lying on the ground, all bloddy and mangled. "Yaten!" She dropped in front of him and held him. "Yaten, please don't leave me!!"
Yaten slowly opened his eyes. "Marissa.... I'm sorry....." He started coughing up blood.
She brushed hair out of his eyes. "Don't be sorry. We'll always be together, Yaten." She laid her forehead against his. "I love you Yaten."
Yaten smiled softly. "I love you too Marissa..... Sailor Starburst." He eyes closed and his breathing stopped.
Marissa slowly laid him back on the ground. "I'll avenge you and everyone else, I promise." She continued to run towards the castle.
"Luna, Artemis, come here."
The two cats when over to their dying Queen, tears running down their faces. "Yes, my Queen?"
"I will die, I know this, but before I do, I will use what power to send you, my daughters and all the Sailor Senshi to Earth. You will not remember any of this, until the Earth is in great perel, and when you do remember, please tell my daughters I love them dearly."
"Hai, my Queen." Luna and Artemis bowed their heads, crying harder now.
Queen Serenity smiled softly before she began to glow. "Goodbye."
"Okassan! Serenity! Where are you?!?" Marissa cried out, watching in horror and dispair as her home was destroyed.
A evil laugh was heard. "It's over girl! Now hand over the Imperium Rainbow Crystal, and I might spare your life!"
"Never!" Marissa cried, clutching the heart-shaped locket on her chest in her hands. "I'll never give the crystal Galaxia!"
"How dare you defy me!" Galaxia screeched. She aimed her hands at the princess. "You will die for that! FIRES OF DESTRUCTION!" A ball of fire shot towards her.
Marissa knew she wouldn't be able to dodge it or reflect it, it was too close. "Gomen nasai, Yaten, Okassan, Serenity, everyone...." She squeezed her eyes shut before a bright warm, comforting ball surrounded her, and she opened her eyes as she saw herself float away from her home before they slipped shut again and she went into deep sleep. The last thought she had before she fell asleep was, 'Yaten....'
A thousand years later....
Tears rolled down a young girl's cheeks as she watched her mother being buried. 'Okassan...'
A gentle hand rested on her shoulder and the girl looked up to see two young women, one with sea blue hair that when past her shoulders, and one with short blonde hair. "Come on," the one with sea blue hair said softly. "It's time to go."
The young girl was quiet for a moment before nodding. As they turned and walked away, a blue cat watched them silently. 'It's time....'
