Sailor Moon Fan Fiction ❯ The Price of Love ❯ Chapter 1 ( Chapter 1 )
Prince Endyimon watched as the ship landed.
"Are these the new trainees?" He asked.
"Yes, my Prince" Malachite looked over the new cadets with a critical eye. A week ago, the king had ordered him to find four more generals to help protect the prince. Even with Endyimon protesting, the king was firm in his decision. Now, It was his job to separate the weak from the strong and the willing from the stupid. Malachite motioned for the cadets to form into a line.
"Give your name and where you're from!" He barked. He tried not to groan as a tiny boy with oversize glasses stepped forward nervously.
* * *
Endyimon looked amused as Malachite examined each person.
"Name!" Malachite barked, "Place!" Endyimon held back a smirk. He saw more than a dozen pale faces. He shook his head. Malachite was doing a great job scaring everyone so far. The next man up didn't even blink at the white hair general harsh tone.
"Nephrite from Pluto" Malachite nodded.
"Next!" A feminine looking male stepped forward.
"Zoisite from Neptune" Next two blonds stepped up.
"Jadeite and Ren from the Moon"
"Brothers?" Malachite asked.
"Twins" Ren replied. He made eye contact with Endyimon and smile before moving off. Endyimon felt something strange going through him as he had made eye contact with the blond. He quickly shook off the feeling and face the group of cadets that was already assembled.
"Get some rest" He stared at them steadfastly, "tomorrow your training will begin…"

Ren glanced with disdain at the small room he shared with his brother.
"It's better than nothing" Ren glanced at Jadeite.
"Cheer up, Usa" He quickly took out a large bottle of warm water and tossed it. Ren quickly grabbed the bottle and dump the whole thing on his head. Usagi shook her head.
"It's good to be out of that form," She muttered. She looked up to see the amusement in her brother's eyes.
"I'd rather have you as a guy" He told her, "then I wouldn't have to kill all the guys that look at you" Usagi rolled her eyes. Her mind quickly went back to their job.
"We're going to have to be careful" She looked thoughtful. "No one should know about our curse. Not until we finished our job." Jadeite nodded his head as he took out a crossbow and examined it. Usagi looked into her bag and took out an extra shirt, two coarse pants, and a long dagger. She also took out a bag full of gold coins. She grinned. Some old red-hair witch had paid them to assassinate Prince Endyimon and his general Malachite. Of course, they received on half of it. The other half of the payment would come when the Prince and Malachite are dead. A knock suddenly came at the door. Usagi quickly jumped into bed, pulling the covers up as the door opened.
* * *
Malachite looked at the twin cadets. Jadeite was sorting his things and Ren, it looks like, was already asleep. He couldn't tell because the covers hid the boy's figure. Jadeite looked up surprise.
"General Malachite!" the blond bowed, "I wasn't expecting you" Malachite nodded, distracted. Something was wrong, but he couldn't place a finger on it.
"Ren is asleep?" He motion to the lump figure on the bed.
"Uh, yes. Ren was very tired from the trip" Jadeite grinned weakly.
"I came to remind you to wake up early" He took one more look around the room. "What's that puddle on the floor?"
Jadeite cursed when he saw the water. 'Usa didn't have time to clean it up after her transformation!'
"My, uh, brother knocked over a bowl of water" He lied. Malachite nodded his head, taking the lame excuse.
"Be ready tomorrow" the white hair general walked out of the room. "Oh, and clean up this mess"
"Yes, sir" Jadeite bowed. As soon as the general walked out, He jumped forward and locked the door. Usagi threw off the cover.
"Whew! That was close"
"I'll say" Jadeite muttered. He looked at his sister. "So when do you want to kill them?" Usagi thought for a moment.
"How about the third night of the Earth ball?" Jadeite nodded.
"It's months from here, though"
"But during it, we could get rid of the King and Queen, too! Beryl would probably pay us more" Jadeite nodded. His sister had a point. Beside, Beryl didn't say when they had to kill them. Usagi quickly cleaned up the mess. She sank, after it was done, on her bed and yawned.
"Don't wake me up" she mummers. Jadeite grinned as he tucked the blankets around her.
"Night, Usa"
"Night, Jade" she murmured out sleepy. She fell deep asleep. He watched as his twin slept. He gently brushed back a lock of her hair.
"I promise, Usa" He looked down, "This is our last job." Jadeite swore to himself that this was the last time they'll kill.
'It's not like you had a choice' a voice uttered in his head. It was true. Assassinating and killing was the only way that they survived. It was a dirty job but the money was good. It was better than the cold, hungry nights that they spent in an alleyway.
"Jade?" a small voiced whimpered. Four years old Jadeite quickly moved in to comfort his sister.
"Shhh. Everything fine" His young high voice carried into the cold night.
"They'll come back, right?" Usagi shivered when another freezing wind blew. She tried to snuggle deeper into the moth eaten blanket that Jadeite had found in a dumpster. Jadeite hugged his sister. He was smart. He knew that they weren't coming back. Their parents had abandoned them!
"I'll take care of you," He promised. Usagi tried not to cry. Jadeite had given her an answer. They weren't coming.
Jadeite quickly blocked out the rest of his memories. Now wasn't a good time to be strolling down memory lane. He quickly got into bed. If all want according to the plan, then Endyimon and Malachite wouldn't be alive much longer.
