Friends…or Enemies?Part Two

 

Jamin and Alyssa reached the peak of the mountain and stepped onto the smooth surface. The tabletop peak was not very wide, a quarter of a mile at best, therefore it was easy to see Gemini standing in front of a stone monument that had been erected near the edge of the peak.

"Mercury Star Power, Make Up!!"

Small ribbons of water surrounded Alyssa and wrapped themselves around her body. Her bluish fuku appeared as the water faded, and her tiara wrapped around her forehead. A sapphire appeared in the middle of her forehead, the symbol of Mercury engraved on the surface.

Gemini turned around, holding the Star Wand of Jupiter. "Looking for this, children?" the warrior asked with a sneer.

“You…”, Jamin mumbled under his breath. He began to take a step towards Gemini when he felt a hand on his shoulder, holding him back. He turned to see Sailor Mercury there.

 

“Don't… you can't fight him on your own. Not in a normal form, and especially not now that he has your power.”, she said quietly. Jamin nodded softly, and watched as she stepped forward. “Astral Warrior Gemini, I challenge you.”, Sailor Mercury called out, her confidence wavering.

 

“You alone challenge me, Sailor Mercury? Do you think your power alone can even hope to defeat mine? Are you so sorely mistaken that you would sacrifice yourself in a battle you cannot win?”, Gemini responded. “Give me your power, Mercury, and I'll let you live. Give it not, and your blood will be the price for your insolence.”

Solaris and Lunaris watched quietly from a hidden place.

 

Solaris looked toward his partner, whose face was devoid of any reaction. “You would have her die, Erynn?”, he asked simply.

 

“The moment you enter us into this fight, you violate our orders, and you plunge all of us into this battle. Our names in this conflict will be etched in stone, and there will be no way out.”, she replied.

 

“I will not stand idly and watch Gemini steal her power as well.”, he replied. “She has no chance against him.”, he said, disappearing in a flash of light.

 

Sailor Lunaris sighed quietly as she watched him teleport to the middle of the flat top, standing beside Sailor Mercury. Lunaris' shadow stretched to where it stood beside him and then she slipped into it, reappearing beside him.

“I will never bow down to you, Gemini. If my life spills today to fight for justice, I could think of no better way to die.”, Mercury spat out. “Even if I have to fight alone, you will find that the Sailor Soldiers aren't so easily defeated. Besides, I have a score to settle with you.”

 

“You are not alone, Sailor Mercury…”, she heard as a flash of light burst from behind her. She turned to find Solaris standing there, still basking in the aura of the moon. Beside him stood Lunaris, her arms crossed and her eyes staring upon Gemini.

 

“Vermin like you aren't fit for the powers of righteousness, Gemini.”, she said softly. Her voice carried, however, seeming to echo from walls that weren't there. “Hand us the henshin wand, and we'll let you walk away alive.”

 

Gemini laughed hysterically, the dark clouds above him crackling with sheer power. “I am Gemini, the Lord of Twin Thunder now!”, he exclaimed. “You warriors have nothing on me.”

From her throne, the Black Lady stared into the vision streaming forth from her Dark Crystal. She smiled in satisfaction, noting Gemini in possession of the Jupiter Star Wand. “Finally, one of my servants has given me cause to be pleased.”, she murmured.

 

“Leo, Aquarius, Scorpio, come forward!”, she called out.

 

From the darkness, three figures appeared. “Yes, your Highness?”, they all said in unison.

 

“Look upon your brother Gemini.”, she stated. “You will assist him in defeating the Sailor Senshi. He has come too close to be defeated now and lose the power of Jupiter.”

 

They all nodded once, their disappearance from the room their only reply.

 

The Black Lady stared at the vision pouring forth from her crystal intently once more.

Gemini split into three copies of himself, a Gemini surrounding Jamin and the Sailor Senshi in each cardinal direction. Jamin turned his back to Sailor Mercury, and they stood back to back, watching carefully for the first attack. Solaris stood similarly against Lunaris, his eyes darting back and forth.

 

And just like that, the fight began. Each adversary's forehead flashed with the sign of Jupiter and sent bolts of lightning flying towards the Senshi. Solaris turned quickly, grabbing Jamin's arm and hurling him across the mountain. He then disappeared in a flash, Lunaris close behind in retreating into her shadow.

 

Sailor Mercury watched helplessly, not knowing which way to turn as she was hit on all sides by the powerful attack that brought her to her knees. Her hands hit the ground as she coughed up a small amount of blood.

 

Jamin screamed in rage and jumped at the closest Gemini to him, his fists tense and unyielding. He connected with a right cross that could be heard from across the flat top of the mountain.

 

The Gemini looked at him as the copies disappeared. His identity as the true original was revealed as he grabbed Jamin by the throat and lifted him from the ground, the power of lightning flowing through the incredibly muscled arm and filling Jamin with electricity.

 

Once unconscious, Jamin slumped in the Astral Warrior's grip, and Gemini threw him off the opposite side of the mountain, where the rock face sloped straight down until it reached the ground.

 

A golden flash lit up near the edge, and Sailor Venus appeared, calling out…

 

“Love Me Chain!”

 

The familiar chain of hearts shot downward, wrapping around Jamin about halfway into his rapid descent and jerking him awake painfully.

 

Gemini snarled in frustration. The warrior leapt towards Venus, who was grunting while trying to pull Jamin back up the side of the mountain. He clasped his fists together, preparing to bring a mighty blow down upon Sailor Venus when he was hit by a beam of blindingly bright light from the side.

 

He landed on his feet, looking towards Solaris. “It matters not how many of you there are. I will eradicate you all for the honor of being the Black Lady's highest ranking warrior. I will rule this miserable planet at her side!”, he screamed. His fists pointed towards Lunaris and Solaris, unleashing an electric blast that blistered the very air around it.

 

Lunaris ducked in front of Solaris. The two of them brought their fists toward, pointing towards the oncoming blast of power, and unleashed their own power in unison, calling out…

 

“Eclipse Wave!”

 

Their power weaved together in a corkscrew fashion, flying towards the electricity. When their power met in the middle, a deafening boom resounded throughout the area.

 

Gemini's body was completely engulfed by the electricity he was throwing at Lunaris and Solaris. The attack slowly gained ground against the Eclipse Wave, his laugh traveling across the distance to them, mocking them.

 

“Did you two fools seriously think that you could defeat me by combining your power? How foolish do you think I am?”, he spat out. “I've watched you defeat lowly youma, and you thought that I'd be included in that list?? I AM GEMINI, THE MIGHTIEST OF ALL THE ASTRAL WARRIORS!” Gemini doubled the power in his attack, his body waving with the sheer amount of power flowing through his arms.

 

Lunaris groaned as she was pushed backward. “We can't stand against this, Solaris. He'll kill us…”, she screamed at her partner. “We have to escape now while we still have the power to run.”

 

Solaris merely gritted his teeth in response, bracing his legs against the ground and willing silently for more power. But, like his partner, he soon began to be forced backward under the sheer force of Gemini's attack.

 

“Moon Spiral Heart Attack!!”

“Burning Mandala!!”

 

Sailor Moon and Mars' attacks blasted Gemini in the side, the mighty electric blast from his hands ceasing. The Eclipse Wave hit him in the chest, sending him flying backwards.

 

The two new arrivals arrived on the top of the mountain.

 

Sailor Moon looked briefly at Solaris and Lunaris, both of them gasping for breath and their combined power exhausted, before looking at Gemini. The warrior got to his feet, muttering as he saw the bruises rise on his chest and side. He spat to the side, facing Sailor Moon.

 

“It's you again, Moon girl… I should've killed you when I had the chance.”, he called out to Sailor Moon. “I'll rectify that now, however. And when I've absorbed your power, I'll take those of your worthless companions.”

 

Sailor Moon aimed the Spiral Heart Moon Rod at Gemini. “You are not worthy of the Jupiter Power, and the Moon Princess has come to reclaim it. In the depths of darkness, let the light shine near. I am Sailor Moon! The Revolution is here. Your time is now.”

 

“Silly princess, look at your allies!”, Gemini called out, howling with laughter. “They're exhausted, and I haven't even begun to fight yet. What difference can you make?”

 

Sailor Mars held his staff in an defensive posture. “I still have a score to settle with you, and I still have things to do today, so be sure that I'm not planning on leaving this mountain before your burned carcass lays before my feet.”

 

Sailor Mercury struggled to her feet and moved beside Sailor Moon. She wiped a blood stain from her cheek before responding in kind. “You won't walk off this mountain with the Jupiter power, nor will you leave it alive.”

 

A sound from across the way diverted her attention and she turned to see Venus finally pull Jamin back to the top of the mountain. She fought her urge to run to him, turning back to Gemini.

 

Sailor Venus made her way slowly to the three Senshi as they faced Gemini. She regarded them silently for a moment before she turned to face Gemini as well. She reached to her side, unsheathing her golden blade and pointing it at Gemini.

 

Gemini fell silent at Venus' undeclared challenge. His eyes wandered over to Solaris and Lunaris, who were still on the ground, watching. “And what of those two, Sailor Senshi? They make no move to help you.”

 

Sailor Venus looked over and regarded the two in disgust, turning her gaze just as quickly back to Gemini.

 

Sailor Moon didn't even turn her head as she responded. “I've had enough of your talk. It's time for action.”, she said, twirling the Spiral Heart Moon Rod in her hands.

 

Fire gathered at the ends of Sailor Mars' staff, which he moved from hand to hand, feeling his muscles loosen and his heart begin to race. “My first battle…”, he thought quietly to himself. “I can't let Usa down…”

 

Sailor Mercury fought against the pain that screamed from all over her body. Her muscles still unsure after the onslaught of power that assaulted her, it was a struggle to remain conscious, much less upright. She looked at Jamin and felt the anger surge through her, her mind clear.

Altima floated in the air, watching the scene from afar. Her frown very evident, she looked upon Solaris and Lunaris on the flat top of the mountain. She flew down from the heights and landed near them silently, not wanting to catch the attention of either Gemini nor the Inner Senshi.

 

She grabbed Solaris by the collar of his outfit, dragging him to his feet.

 

“You DIRECTLY disobeyed my orders, Stephen.”, she whispered forcefully. “I told you to only involve yourself if Leo showed up.”

 

Solaris looked down sullenly, unresponsive.

 

“And you, Erynn. You followed him willingly, bringing us into this. There's no way out for us now. What if they aren't the ones in the Prophecy? Do you realize what you two have done?”, Altima directed at Lunaris.

 

Lunaris looked up at her. “I'm tired of watching from afar. I'm tired of watching worlds succumb to Evil. We both are. I will fight now, and I will fight with them!”, she whispered just as forcefully.

 

She turned and began to walk over to the Inner Senshi when she found herself lifted up a foot into the air, unable to move forward anymore. She turned to see a Senshi towering behind Sailor Altima, his palm pointed at her. She groaned and turned back to the scene.

From the ruins of the Imperial Palace, three figures watched silently.

A flash of light blinded the Inner Senshi, and when the light dimmed, four Geminis stood before them. “Fine, Sailor Senshi. If you want this power, if you want me dead, the time for talk is done. Let's see if your powers can back up your mouths.”

 

The four Geminis rushed the Inner Senshi, who jumped into action.

 

Sailor Mercury leapt out of the way of the oncoming blitz, bringing her hands together. “Shining Aqua Illusion!”, she called out, sending a wave at one of the copies that had turned to charge her. The attack splashed off of the charging warrior, and Sailor Mercury screamed out in pain as her chest became the recipient of a brutal hit, and she went flying. She hit the ground a moment later near to Jamin, and promptly lapsed into unconsciousness. Her Gemini attacker faded away, a dark cloud splitting into three and flowing into the three remaining copies.

 

Sailor Mars turned his head as he heard Mercury scream and hit the ground, turning and leaping into the air over his attacker. He twisted in mid-jump, landing on his feet facing his Gemini adversary, who had ceased his charge to turn and leer upon him menacingly.

 

“It'll take a little bit more than that to quell the power of fire.”, Sailor Mars stated simply, spinning his staff and pointing it at Gemini. He rushed the warrior with staff in hand, bringing it down with an overhead swing at the warrior's head. The Gemini grabbed the staff with both hands and, in a blindingly fast move, used Sailor Mars' own momentum to swing him around and send him flying.

 

The Gemini leapt after him, bringing the end of the weapon down in a crushing blow against Mars' chest, the rock of the ground cracking with the force of Mars hitting it. The Gemini tossed the weapon at Mars, now unconscious as well, and then disappeared, his dark cloud flowing into the two remaining Gemini warriors.

 

Sailor Venus gave a passing glance to Sailor Mars as she fought against her own version of Gemini. “You're only at half-strength when you're split in two, Gemini.”, she said, a malicious smile on her face as she swung her blade at the warrior. “You'd make me work extra hard for my satisfaction of killing you completely?”

 

Gemini dodged the swing, unsheathing his own jagged blade and using it to parry away Venus' second swing. “No, merely proving a point, foolish Sailor girl.”, he said simply, lunging into his own counterattack.

 

Sailor Venus fought Gemini like that for what seemed like forever, exchanging swordplay with erratic blasts of Love Me Chain from her and electric blasts from Gemini. Unbeknownst to her, the other twin left Sailor Moon and charged Sailor Venus from behind, ramming her defenseless into an electric blast from the one she was fighting and sending her flying. She fell to the ground, her sword clattering to the rockface a yard or two away. Not unconscious, she finally noticed Altima and the other Senshi watching, but not acting.

 

Sailor Moon fared no better than Sailor Venus, an experienced fighter. As the last of the copies disappeared and Gemini became one once more in front of her, her fatigue beginning to wear upon her, she leapt out of the way of an oncoming electric blast that was too close for comfort. Letting up, Gemini stood over her on the ground and brought his foot down on her back, holding her to the ground.

 

“It's a pity, really.”, Gemini said with a sneer. “I had expected so much more from the fabled Sailor Moon. Black Lady was so concerned with a little girl like you and your pathetic friends? What a waste of worry you are.”

 

Sailor Moon cried out in pain as Gemini pushed down harder on her back, her grip on the Spiral Heart Moon Rod giving way.

 

From across the mountain, Jamin slowly regained his bearings and saw Sailor Moon being crushed helplessly under Gemini's foot. He jumped to his feet and ran all out at the warrior, screaming once close to his prey as he launched his body into a shoulder block that sent Gemini sprawling.

 

Jamin's own body reeled from the blow, as well. Painfully, he helped Sailor Moon to her feet, facing off against Gemini.

 

Just when it looked like it couldn't get any worse, three shadowy figures appeared behind Gemini. Gemini whirled around in shock, but soon smiled as he recognized the figures behind him. Turning back towards Jamin and Sailor Moon, he said, “Come to see me in my most triumphant moment, brothers and sisters?”

 

Sailor Moon covered her mouth in horror as a massive sword plunged in and through Gemini's body from behind. Robbed of even a last word, the blade cut upwards through his face, the black fluids spilling over the blade and spreading on the rock surface of the mountain. From the mutilated corpse of what once was a Gemini Warrior, the henshin wand of Jupiter began to hover. The tallest figure stepped from the shadows and grasped the wand.

 

From the other side of the mountain, Altima called out, “NO! Leo!”.

 

The female figure easily stood eight feet high, her features cat-like. Short hair sprouted from her skin, covering her everywhere, and her long tail twitched slightly as she held the wand in her hands. She looked up as she saw Altima appear beside the Inner Senshi. “Altima… it's been a while.”, the incredibly soft and feminine voice intoned.

 

Leo looked over the Senshi on the rock, her eyes bemused. “Such a powerful force…”, she murmured, lifting the henshin wand up for further inspection.

 

Altima growled and held her staff at the ready while Leo looked it over, her two companions still shrouded in the darkness of the evening. Leo's gaze turned to Altima.

 

“So there are the ones, Altima? They are rather weak, don't you think?”, Leo asked, her voice light as she giggled.

 

Leo took one last look at the wand before she tossed it at Jamin, who caught it out of pure reflex. “There you go, Sailor Jupiter.”, Leo said. “No sense in killing you without having fun first. Until next time, Sailor Senshi.”, she said, retreating into the shadows and disappearing with her companions.

 

Altima fell to her knees, her quick breathing revealing the quick pace of her heartbeat.

 

Venus snarled at her and the other unknown Senshi. “You bitch!”, she screamed, struggling to her feet and picking up her sword from the ground. “You let them escape?? I'll kill you…”
