Sailor Moon Fan Fiction ❯ The Silent Angel ❯ Tutoring Session ( Chapter 2 )
Her fingers diligently pressed specific digits as she held the phone with a shaky hand. She's never done anything like this before. Mainly because she wouldn't have anything to do other than besides go to work. But today, she had another job to do.
"Hello?"
"Hello Mrs. Takamura, this is Usagi."
"Oh good afternoon Usagi-dear, how are you?"
"I'm great, and yourself?"
"Very well. What can I do for you?"
"I just wanted to let you know that I wouldn't be making it to work today…" the phone cord was twirled tightly around her index finger.
"Oh really? Why so?"
"I've been asked to tutor another student this afternoon. But if you want, I can work the late shift on the weekends to make up for it. Really, I have no intention of lying to you Mrs. Takamura!"
"Rubbish Usagi, you're fine. If it's only for one day, then it's no big deal."
"Really Mrs. Takamura?!"
"Of course. Go on ahead and tutor. I can get someone to fill in for you."
"Thank you so much!"
She hung up the phone and turned it toward the secretary sitting at the desk. "Thank you." Usagi walked out of the office and didn't take long for her to find Seiya waiting by the door.
"Hello there." he stated.
"Um hi…" oh dear God, she was not one with first impressions.
"So, shall we started the tutoring?"
"Yes of course. I was thinking maybe I could talk to a teacher and use their classroom."
The look on his face wasn't too pleasing. "Eh, I was thinking that maybe we could tutor away from the school."
Her eyes widened. "What did you have in mind?"
"I don't know…maybe we could do this at your place."
Her eyes widened even more. "W-what?! My place?!"
"Yeah sure, why not?"
"Um…well, I…you see…" Damn it! Damn it! Damn it! "…my parents wouldn't go for that!!"
"But if we explain that you're going to tutor me, it will all be Ok."
"No! No! No! Still, my parents are always skeptical of boys that I bring home. Even then, we wouldn't have any privacy."
"What else are you planning on doing with me Miss Tsukino…?" He winked seductively at her and watched her gulp in her embarrassment.
"…I just don't think it's a good idea to go to my place…" she suddenly got silent.
Well, for all Seiya knew, he didn't care too much about her and what she wanted. Mainly, he just wanted the pass the stupid subject. But today, he had to comply with her because she was stubborn on not going to her house.
"Alright, maybe we can go to the library."
Usagi nodded vigorously.
---
After the little argument, they started on their way out. It would've taken only a few minutes, but with Seiya, every girl that he passed, he just had to hug. And not only that, but made small conversation as Usagi stood behind him. It shouldn't be anything that she should complain about, if she had friends, she would do the same. But, it would be a long time before she would let anyone trust her.
Finally, they got out to the school parking lot and she followed him on the way to his car.
"Sorry that took so long." Seiya said. Sometimes, he would glance at her as he would be talking. The look on her face was heartbroken and lonely. He felt sorry for her. It was as if she had put him through a trance and he didn't want to be taken out of it. He now knew why they called her 'the silent angel'. You couldn't help but wonder. And she was so mysterious.
"Nah, it's Ok. You were just being nice."
He stared at her for a brief moment before realizing that they almost passed his car. She could be so forgiving.
---
Yaten sat on the couch with his guitar at hand and his mind on the television. It was a nice start for the weekend and he wanted to kick back. He didn't really bother dressing after his shower so he was only clothed in his boxers and had the stringed-instrument to cover his stomach.
Just then, Seiya opened the door to the apartment and gently closed the door.
"Hey there! Have fun at Usagi's?"
He was just taking off his shoes whenever Yaten asked him the question.
"Uh…we didn't go to her house. We went to the library."
The silver-haired light chuckled. "She's good. She probably knew you were going to try to seduce her!"
"Shut up! I would never do a thing like that to a person like her!!" He placed his book bag on the dining room table and went to the kitchen for a drink.
"Oh right, you like to screw the easy ones…"
Seiya sighed loudly as he rolled his eyes. He then walked in the living room and sat in an over-stuffed chair beside the couch.
"You don't know what I like." he growled.
"Please! How many times have you gone for a girl that has played hard to get?? Usually I see you with the same…twenty girls that practically give themselves to you."
"Little bastard!" He stood up in a rage, almost ready to start a fight.
Yaten coward behind his guitar. "Hey! Hey! Hey, I didn't say that was a bad thing…!"
Sighing again, Seiya sat back down and chugged his glass of water he brought over from the kitchen.
"It's just the life of an idol we live. Girls falling left and right and we're just giving them what they want." He shrugged. "But I was thinking of going for something better."
"Like what?"
"I don't know. I hear of this new word called, 'relationship' and I was wanting to give it a try…"
If it wasn't for the fact that the glass would break, the raven-haired idol would have hit him upside the head with it. But then again, he didn't feel like arguing.
"Do what you want. There's really no girls out that there I like."
"What about Usagi?"
He slowly turned towards Yaten and looked at him with a strange face. "Seriously, we just met! Besides, she has no personality."
"Oh, I saw the way you looked at her this morning. You were…charmed."
"Alright, so she's pretty."
"Pretty?! C'mon Seiya, let's be reasonable here."
"Damn it, she's gorgeous!! Happy?!"
Yaten clapped.
"But still, she has no personality."
"I'm sure you can get it out of her. There's something under that quiet demeanor."
"Maybe there is. But all I see is a pretty face."
"Don't get me started on the 'pretty' again, dumb-ass!"
"Shut up you!!"
He strummed his guitar for a few notes and studied the television. "You never know Seiya, she could have an as big of a secret as we do."
---
There was no near bus stop she could catch to ride home. And the library was almost as far as her school. But, she needed the exercise she guessed. Seiya told her he had to go and took off with just a 'goodbye'. She didn't blame him, no one would want to be with her more than a certain amount of time.
It was almost three hours it took for her feet to reach home. Her homework had all not been finished, she still needed to bathe, and she was hungry. Money was tight this week and she missed her grocery shopping trip. Oh well, going to bed on an empty stomach wasn't the worst thing in the world. And it was only an hour before her bedtime. She could do it super-quick.
Entering her house, it gave her an eerie feeling of loneliness. The house was dark and empty. Still, Usagi knew her way around the house like the back of her hand. She slipped off her shoes and walked toward the kitchen and switched on the light, commencing on her homework.
---
"TAIKI!!!"
Seiya was almost ready to pull his hair out. Although, it was a bit messy from him running his hands all through it.
"What?!"
"Come here!! I need you to help me with this!"
Taiki walked in the living room looking quite casual. His hair was out of its ponytail and he looked a bit tired.
"What do you want?" he snapped.
"This stupid homework! I can't figure it out." Seiya presented him his literature paper.
He sighed exasperated. "I thought you scheduled a tutor session with Usagi."
"I did, but we didn't go over this part."
"Why not?"
"Because she only taught me what I asked."
Taiki took a good look at the paper again. "How long did you tutor with her?"
The raven-haired idol just sat there, looking at the wall.
"SEIYA!"
"Fifteen minutes…"
"Fifteen minutes?! You're supposed to study with her at least an hour."
"Well, I didn't want to stay there too long."
Taiki sighed again and his whole body went limp on the couch. "Did you at least offer her a ride home?"
He stayed quiet again.
"DAMN IT SEIYA!!"
"What?! Was I supposed to?"
"It would've been a nice thing to do for her taking time out of her busy schedule to tutor you."
"I'm sure she got home Ok. Besides, I gave her a ride to the library!"
The brown-haired light rolled his eyes and started looking at the paper again. Walking to the kitchen, he retrieved a plastic water bottle. He was still drinking it while looking at the sheet.
"So, can you help me?" Seiya asked eagerly.
"When did she tutor you?"
"Yesterday."
The taller light smacked the paper into his chest. "You're calling her. You're going to have another session."
"What?! No!! You can't make me!"
"I can't explain this to you in your language. From what I see, it's better than you working on it alone. Just ask her again for help on the part you're confused with."
Seiya whined and walked over to the counter, opening up the phonebook.
---
Usagi stood over the stove as she mixed her eggs in a pan. Sunday, it was the only day she had time to make herself a big breakfast. Well, of what she had left in her pantry and refrigerator anyway. She had found some loose vegetables around, eggs, and fish in the way back. Tonight, she had to go grocery shopping.
Just as she turned off the stove, she heard an odd ringing sound. Looking over toward the phone, it was lighting up as the second ring went off. Quite funny, she never usually got any calls this early. Or any calls for that matter. But for all she knew, it could be someone calling the wrong number. That was always the case.
"Hello?"
"Usagi?"
She almost dropped the phone. "Seiya…?"
"Hey, good morning."
"Uh…morning. H-how did you find my number??" She had the right to ask, right?
"I found it in the phonebook. Sorry if I caught you at a bad time, I can let you go if you want…"
"No, it's fine. It's just a little surprising that you would call me."
It was a surprise to him that he would call her too.
"Heh…well, I just wanted to ask you if we could arrange another tutoring session. It won't be long. I forgot to ask you about this one particular section and I'm stuck."
Usagi was biting her fingernails, a sign of nervousness. "Sure, we can do that. When should we meet?"
"If it's possible, today."
"Today?"
"I know it's such short notice. But if you do, I'll take you home tomorrow."
"It's ok Seiya, I'll help you. I'll be over there in a couple of hours."
"Thanks."
