Sailor Moon Fan Fiction ❯ Total Chaos ❯ The meeting ( Prologue )
Disclaimer: I do not own Sailor Moon -.- Wish I did, though. Mamo would die and Usagi wouldn't be such an idiot.

Shingo suppressed a small smile as he walked down the sidewalk. He honestly had no idea why he was trying to smile either. It was, to put it simply, a depressing day. The sky was completely gray from cloud cover, and a chilly breeze was blowing. It had even rained a little earlier, but even nature seemed half hearted about everything as it soon stopped.
He was absentmindedly kicking a rock down the path while wandering aimlessly through the park. He knew that he should be getting home soon, because he had been forced by his mother to stay home, due to a small fever. When she found that he out of bed and outside, she was probably going to have kittens…
Just as his thoughts strayed towards Ikuko, his newly acquired cell phone rang shrilly. It had to have been his, only because no one else was around.
He pulled it from his pocket and made sure that the number was from home before answering. "'Ello?"
"Shingo? Where are you? You should be home!" This time, he did smile. It was small, and looked kind of sad, but it was a smile nonetheless.
"Sorry, `kaasan. I just needed fresh air."
"You had better start heading home right now," Ikuko warned. "You could barely move this morning, and should be in bed." Shingo sighed softly.
"I know. I just don't like being cooped up."
"I know that," she said. "I would have appreciated it if you had warned me, though."
"But you would have said no," he pointed out.
"At least I would have known where you were going if you decided to sneak away." He rolled his eyes.
"Yes, `kaasan. I'll be home in ten minutes, k?"
"As long as you get home in one piece. I had better see you soon!" Shingo shook his head with exasperation as he hung up and put the phone back in his pocket.
"I am so glad that I'm not female. I wouldn't be able to stand worrying so much." He was sure that if any female had been around, he probably would have been slapped.
That was when the teen noticed something strange. There was absolutely no one around. Not even birds. The park was completely silent.
Shingo gulped slightly. "Something's wrong here…." It seemed to be getting darker, too, but he shook that off by claiming that it was just the sun setting.
After another few minutes of wandering around, he realized that he honestly had no idea where he was. He also realized that he had passed the same cluster of trees three times already. "Great. I'm lost." He sat down next to a tree with a puzzled look on his face. "I know this place like the back of my hand. Why is it that I can't remember being here before?"
The teen sat back, staring up at the dismal sky. "I really should be trying to get home," he muttered. "Kaasan's probably upset enough as is, and she'll be absolutely furious if I come home an hour late because I was lost…." He stood up after a few moments, beating off a sudden onslaught of dizziness. With a small smile, he remembered something someone on TV once said: "Don't bother with drugs. Just stand up really fast and that's all the high you need*!"
Instead of following the path, he found himself wandering towards the thick forest that marked the end of the park. He had never gone farther than the first few trees, in fear of getting lost and never being found. This time, though, instead of worrying, he followed the tingling sensation in his stomach that told him to go this way.
Soon enough, Shingo came across a small clearing. This was, by far, one of the creepiest places he had seen yet. It was completely dark here, and whatever light there was left was filtered out by the trees. Nothing was moving, not even the leaves. The earlier breeze had seeming stopped, and the only thing he could hear was his heartbeat.
`You….' Shingo jumped. The voice seemed to be coming from everywhere and nowhere at once, but the person who spoke wasn't in sight.
"Who's there?"
`You came back to me….' The sound was whisper soft, and he had to strain to hear it. It sent shivers down his spine, but no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't leave the spot.
"This isn't funny! Who's out there?"
He thought his imagination was playing tricks on him when a translucent figure appeared in front of him. The person, or thing, was tall, with long blonde hair past his shoulder blades and blood red eyes.
Shingo inhaled sharply and stepped back once. He tried again, but his body didn't respond. "Who are you?" The creature took one step toward him and outstretched his arm, a look of deep sadness in his eyes.
`Caderyn….'
"What are you talking about?!" They took another step, repeating the name. "I don't know who that is! Leave me alone!"
His body still refused to budge, and the creature took yet another step. Shingo resisted against the invisible bonds wildly. "No! Stop! I don't know who you are!"
To his immense relief, the person stopped. He inhaled again, though, when he saw the intense red gaze fixed on him. `You don't remember?'
"No! I don't!"
`I see….I apologize….I should have known that he won't come back….' The person laughed hollowly. `Who would want to be part of Chaos? The ultimate darkness?'
Shingo felt the bonds loosen almost immediately, but instead of bolting like his mind was instructing him to, he stood still. "Who are you?" he repeated, watching the man.
`Chaos….Forever destined to be alone….' He hung his head. `All because of the damned Queen….' The person claiming to be Chaos took one last step toward him before disappearing.
That was when he took action.
Shingo turned around; running away from the clearing as fast as he could in the direction he had come. His mind kept repeating the same thing over and over again: I have to get out of here. Before he shows up again.
After what seemed like mere seconds, Shingo found himself at the front gate leading into the park. Then both reality and the fever hit him like a sack of bricks.
His head was pounding….lights were flashing in his eyes…everything seemed to be going dark.
The teen unknowingly stumbled into the street, deaf to the cries of any passersby who saw him. Then, after a horrible screeching noise, everything finally went black.

1) I actually heard someone on TV say something along the lines of this. I would have to agree, because I stood up too fast once and fell over on the coffee table without realizing it. ^_^;;;
Well, this was kind of strange, wasn't it? Please review!
