Sailor Moon Fan Fiction ❯ Unwanted Power ❯ Silence Glaive Surprise ( Chapter 1 )
First chapter of Unwanted Power. This is the story I've been working on most lately. Please review!
Haruka ran through the rain, faster then even the wind. Yet there was no sign of Hotaru.
<I thought she would be here, near her old home...> She thought, running through the alleys around Mugen School. Finally, with her short, blonde hair plastered to the side of her face and pant suit sticking to her skin, she walked slowly back to the waiting car. Michiru was waiting for her, just as wet and looking downcast. Her face brightened as she saw Haruka turn the corner, but it diminished when she saw she was alone.
"No sign of her?"
"None, Michiru. Maybe Setsuna has had some luck. Let's go." Michiru nodded sadly and got into the passenger seat, slumping back and sighing.
Setsuna stood at the fountain in the center of the park, feeling that Hotaru had come here. The gates of time didn't show anything about this happening. It was so sudden. Setsuna sighed inwardly, knowing there was no way to tell if Hotaru had been here or not. It was just a feeling. An old bench and fountain didn't offer any help, so Setsuna continued a little further down the path. After a moment, her communicator beeped. She lifted the green lid with the Pluto symbol on it in black and waited for a voice.
"Setsuna?"
"Haruka? Michiru? Did you find her?"
"No. Nothing." Haruka's stern voice said into her own communicator. Setsuna had figured this already, the feeling Hotaru was in the park was getting stronger by the minute.
"Contact the other scouts and meet me at the fountain at the park. Hurry."
"Alright Setsuna." Setsuna closed the communicator and went back to the fountain.
Every slight breeze made Hotaru's whole body shiver. Her lips quivered constantly, and it was getting harder and harder to command her legs to move. She could no longer feel the cold drops of rain falling on her, and her wrinkled feet were completely numb.
<At least I wore a long-sleeve shirt...> She though feebly before falling down hard on the pavement.
Bunny sat in her room, giggling as she read one of Rei's manga books. Her smile and laugh died off as her pink communicator with a yellow moon on it beeped at her.
"Yeah?"
"Bunny! Hotaru's gone!! We need you and the inners to help us find her..." The communicator was grabbed away from Michiru and Bunny heard Haruka telling her to give it to her.
"Bunny. We searched by Mugen School but nothing. Setsuna wants us all to meet at the park. Please gather everyone and meet us there!"
"I'll be right there!!" She closed the communicator, and then re- opened it to contact the others.
Setsuna ran a delicate hand over the broken communicator, found in a puddle by the bench. The Saturn symbol and hues of purple told her it belonged to Hotaru. She wanted to continue on, but she had to wait for the others. She sighed, thinking of Hotaru.
"At one time I thought I was a good mother figure, but now..." She spoke aloud to herself. "Don't say that, Setsuna. It was I who failed." Michiru walked forward, clutching Haruka's hand. "I recoiled from her power..."
"I am the wrong one. I never should have..." Haruka trailed off, memories of earlier seeping into her head.

Hotaru was in her room reading a large, hardcover book of poetry. Setsuna, Michiru, and Haruka were somewhere in the house; Hotaru could hear their quiet talking. However, she felt disturbed. Just as she was about to go tell the other outers, the window smashed in. A blue youma flew in on black, leathery wings, landing deftly on the purple carpeted floor.
"Who-are...you?" The youma pointed to her with a long, needlelike finger. Its eyes glinted black.
"I am...Sailor Saturn!!! SATURN PLANET POWER!!" Hotaru was swallowed by dark ribbons and replaced with the senshi of death.
"Sat-turn? You...are one of...tailismans?" The Silence Glaive materialized in the air when Sailor Saturn called it out of its place in space. She pointed at the youma navy face.
"Tell me why you are here!" The youma let out a hoarse laugh.
"You a-re ridi-culo-us!! Why would...I te-ll you my master's pl- ans?" Saturn stood tall, still pointed the glaive at his neck.
"Because otherwise...I will kill you." The youma laughed again.
"Well, if you p-ut it that way...my master wa-nts the tail-ismans and the Hol-y Grail!" The youma drawled over the last words.
<Setsuna-mama, Michiru-mama, Haruka-papa...NO!!!>
"You and your master cannot have them!!" She swung her glaive in an arc over her head. As she was swinging it towards the youma, the door banged open.
"Hotaru!!" Michiru called out, rushing forward to help her.
"Ah...I fe-el the pow-er of them...!!" The youma jumped to Michiru, claws extended. Haruka gasped.
"No!!" Saturn yelled. "SILENCE GLAIVE SURPRISE!!" A burst of purple energy swirled out and surrounded her glaive. She thrust out and sliced the youma's stomach and black blood poured out onto the rug, followed by strings of intestines. The wall behind the youma exploded into splinters of wood and fluttered down in the blood. The intestines were piling on the floor by the youma's clawed feet, and then he fell into the pile of gore. Blood splattered on the shocked Michiru. "Hotaru...how...how..." Sailor Saturn detransformed and Hotaru reappeared.
"Michi-mama..." She walked toward the shaking woman dotted with the youma blood.
"No, stay away!" Hotaru kept on, a sorrowful expression covering her features.
"Please, Michiru-mama...I just wanted to protect you!" Michiru stumbled in horror, falling on her bottom. She began to back away on all fours.
"Stay away!"
"No!! Michiru-mama!!" A hand appeared and struck Hotaru's cheek, leaving a red handprint. "Stay away from Michiru." Haruka's voice cut through the air like a dagger. A tear trickled down Hotaru's cheek. Setsuna stood up, bringing a shaking Michiru with her. Hotaru shot Haruka a pitiful gaze, then ran past Setsuna and Michiru.
"Hotaru!!" Setsuna called, reaching for her. But Hotaru ran down the stairs and out the front door, not bothering to shut the door. Michiru fainted.
The three stood in silence.
"We all knew of her powers. There was no need for me to be so frightened.
"It surprised us all Michiru. We didn't know how strong she actually was. She's our daughter. We didn't want to see her cause that kind of destruction. The fault is all of ours, Michiru." Setsuna said wisely, sitting on the wet bench, patting the spot next to her. The couple sat down, and they nodded together, a silent promise that they would find Hotaru.
