Notes: Ok I will keep this quick. First this story is dedicated to my grandfather who will face the biggest adversity in his life as he now fights liver cancer, God Bless you grandpa Mac you have always been my most loving and encouraging supporter as a pursue my dreams. I love you! Second, just for any of you wondering this is an alternate reality fic and so that means that yes I know some of the things in here are historically wrong but just go with it that is part of what makes it fiction! On with the Show!

A small knock on her door startled the blonde sitting in front of the mirror putting on her lipstick.

"Ms. Markham*, 15 minuets."

She turned to those in the room and hesitantly asked if she could have a few minuets, all left but two.

"You know you don't have to do this. We could just refund the money, say your sick and go home."

"Stop big my big brother and besides, you know perfectly well I can't do that. Besides he's probably not here anyway," she laughed nervously. Neither the other girl in the room or the guy were deceived. They knew how nervous their little sister was.

"Oh come on you know better than that," admonished the girl sitting in the corner who could no longer hold her peace. She loved her sister too much to see her struggle like this with her fear and emotions. "Don't be so naïve Sere. Besides you and I both know for a fact that he is here the papers said he was coming."

" Oh Haruka you're just as bad. I swear one older brother is enough but a brother and a sister is just too much. I'll be fine. Now please, can I have just a few minuets before I have to go on? Sieya can you find Setsuna and have her come here and help me fix my dress. And if you could find Mina I need her help to finish my hair, thanks so much," she smiled at him as he left.

Both had to laugh at their little sister. While she had swept North America as a signing sensation, not to mention her acting ability, she never changed. She was again the sweet little girl she was before they had to leave Prussia. They gave each other a knowing look that only twins could share, but left their sister alone, they still did have a few things to take care of.

As they left Sere stepped over to the mirror and stopped short. The reflection in the mirror gave her pause to think. The girl that looked back still had the crystal clear blue eyes, floor length blonde hair, and petite frame with long legs and arms but something was different. She knew what it was. The Serenity Markham that had lived and grown up in Prussia** was not the same that stood her today. She had grown up in a comfortable estate not ever really knowing her parents but knowing they were important because the servants always listened attentively and hung to her every word. But since she had turned 10 and until the last two years she had known fear and flight. Since she had turned 16 things had changed since they had come to Canada. She suddenly and unexpectedly found a career on the stage and loved it. Her past was still about as clear as mud because her brother and sister had never told her much but then again now that it was over she really didn't want to know. But now they were back in Prussia on a world tour and she needed to start asking questions because all the sudden this man, this King Terrance and his son or rather Heir Apparent, Prince Darien Alexandiovich*** of the House of Fedorcenko**** of Prussia were an apparent danger to her. Or at lease that is what every one was telling her. But all that Seiya and Haruka would say is that they were just in danger cause they used to live here and the crown didn't not like it when people left the country and then came back. The crown viewed them as troublemakers. Some how Serenity knew there was more to it than that.

* Another knock on the door * "Ms. Markham, it's Setsuna, … Sere you in there? I came as soon as Seiya told me, we only have 5 minuets you in there girl?" *

Suddenly her thoughts were broken.

* Oh well I have about a week to find out about it cause we will be in this place for two weeks total touring so I can think about it then. I have a show to do now, stop day dreaming Sere! *

"Sorry Setsuna coming."

Five minuets later a nervous Serenity took the stage to the beginning of her new hit that proved as her introduction: All or Nothing**** *. As the crowd went wild with the first notes of the song Serenity was only looking for one man in the crowd, the one man who was not there…

Well Ok there it is. That's the Prologue for Up in Lights, my new fic. Let me know what you think. I know I was supposed to have Chapter 6 of The Ties that Bind up but I just couldn't this week with every thing that went on with my grandfather and then this finally came to me in final form so I just went with it. Oh by the way here are the notes for the prologue:* Markham = the last name of the royal family out of the book The Princess by Lori Wick. A great book and a great author check her out!

** Prussia = yes I am a Social Studies major so you don't have to tell me that it no longer exists but I am using it any way so pretend it does but it isnot the same one, this one is one of my making. J

*** Alexandiovich = the official middle name of Nicholas II, Tsar of Russia, the last one I might add.

**** Fedorcenko = A section of the royal house of the Romanov's in a Historical fiction series, The Russians, by Judith Pella, another excellent writer. She is great!

***** All or Nothing = It is one of the songs from Save the Last Dance. For those of you that have seen the movie but have not heard the whole song on the sound track it is awesome but slightly different. If any one wants I can post the words to it. Well take care all!!!!
