Waltz of the Wind's Sorrow
Sailor Ookami

“WAAAAAHHHHH!!!” The lusty wail resounded throught the hospital. The nurse wiped down the baby and laid it in the crib, and turned around to take the second baby. The doctor shook his head sadly and left the room. The nurse picked up the baby, and walked over to the new parents. “Congratulations Tenou-san.” The nurse said as she handed the baby to it's father. The father placed a kiss on the baby's forehead and whispered “My son.” The nurse shook her head and said “Tenou-san, you have a lovely daughter.” The look of happiness in the father's eyes quickly changed to disgust as he handed the baby to his wife and said “Where is my son? I want to hold him.” Tears welled up in the nurse's eyes as she replied. “Complications arose during birth, I'm afraid your son didn't make it. I'm sorry for your loss.” Silently the nurse bowed and walked out of the room, leaving the couple alone with their sadness. The father shed a few tears for his dead son, before his sorrow turned to rage. “This is all that stupid baby's fault, why didn't she die instead! It isn't fair that my son had to die while she lived.” The wife reached out to her husband who pulled away from her touch. “At least one survived honey, be glad for that at least.” Her husband was about to yell when the doctor walked into the room with a clipboard. “I'm sorry to intrude on your grief, but what name should we put on the baby's birth certificate?” The mother looked to her husband, but when he turned away she said “Haruka. Her name is Haruka.” The doctor bowed and silently walked out of the room.

Twelve years later, Haruka sat beside her vanity, brushing her long sandy blonde locks. Humming to herself as she tied a pink bow in her hair and did her make-up she smiled. She set down her brush and walked into the corridor. She slowed down when she heard her father's voice, and stopped dead in her tracks when she heard what he was saying. “It's her fault and you know it! She is the reason my son died at birth! I wish that she had died instead!” She heard her mother soothing him, whispering until he yelled again “What do you mean, I don't mean it? Of course I do! I wish that she was dead! Dead! Do you understand me!” Tears welling up in her eyes, Haruka fled back to her room. Pulling some tissues out of the box, she began methodically wiping the make-up off her face. Seating herself before the mirror, she picked up a pair of scissors and cut off her beautiful hair. Slipping out of her pretty dress, she bound up her chest and slipped into an old pair of pants and a t-shirt. Creeping silently out her door, she slipped outside and began walking down the street.she stopped outside a dojo full of men and was about to start drooling when she remembered her new role. she stepped inside the dojo and registered herself for classes. After that day's lesson, Haruka headed home only do find her father at the door with a grim look on his face. “Your mother is dying. She was in a car accident a few hours ago. I'm going to the hospital, you had better go too. Without a sound of sorrow or protestation, Haruka climbed into the car beside her father and they headed to the hospital. When they arrived, a tattered woman lay comatose in the bed before them. Haruka picked up her mother's hand, and began whispering softly. “Mama, please don't die, I need you, I love you.” A soft smile graced her mother's face before she whispered “I love you too, my daughter.” A sigh escaped her lips as she passed on into eternity. Tears began to well up in Haruka's eyes, but she held them back as her soul cracked straight down the middle. Straightening her spine, Haruka held back her tears and walked out of the room.

Three years later, Haruka was the talk of the town, and to everyone who didn't know her personally, the most elligible bachelor in town. Haruka was in the newspaper almost daily, showing her winning another race. Haruka was off one day at another race, when she got the call. She picked up the phone and said “Hello?” A buisness-like voice on the other end replied “Is this Tenou Haruka?” When Haruka affirmed that, the other person continued. “I'm sorry to have to inform you of this, but your father was shot earlier. We are still unsure of the circumstances surrounding his death, but the police are investigating. His death was instant and he didn't suffer. Once again I am sorry for your loss.” With that, the phone hung up. Haruka dropped the phone and fell to her knees. Father, why? Why did you have to die. Even if you hated me, I still loved you. Strengthening her resolve, Haruka stood up and whispered “I carry on for you and mother.” before she headed back to her race. As usual she won, but this time she had a ghostly pallor on her face as she accepted the trophy. She held it up for the world to see and passed out at the feet of the judges. When she woke up later, she was lying in a stark white room. She turned her head to see the nurse standing beside her bedside table admiring the trophy. Once the nurse realized that she was awake, she helped Haruka to sit up in the bed. “The doctor did a thorough check on you and since he found nothing wrong with you, you can go home as soon as you like Tenou-san.” Haruka nodded and said “Thank you...” The nurse blushed and hurriedly supplied her name. Haruka shook her hand and said ”Thank you once again Kanashii-san.” Bowing to the nurse on her way out, Haruka gathered up her trophy and went home. She walked in her door and was greeted by her pit crew manager. “Haruka-san, face it, you need a break. This collapse proved it, either you go on vacation or I hide your bike and car.” Haruka sighed and said “I was planning on it, I was gonna go on a cruise. Something, anything that isn't on dry land.” Her manager sighed and headed off to help Haruka make the arrangements.
The next day, Haruka boarded the ship, and moved into her luxurious cabin. She was glad she was on this trip, because plainly, her heart was dead. Later that night, as Haruka was walking down the stairs to dinner, she bumped into someone. Someone with luxuriant aqua tresses and deep sea-blue eyes. Picking up the stranger's case, she introduced herself. The strainger smiled softly and said “Nice to meet you, my name is Kaiou Michiru.” Haruka stared at her, then looked at the case in her hand. “You play the violin very beautifully Kaiou-san. Your music inspired me to learn the piano, and write some of my own pieces. It was nice meeting you.” Haruka handed Michiru her violin case, and with a deep bow, headed down to the dining room. She was seated by herself, at the table offering the best view of the water, when a soft voice behind her said “Tenou-san, do you mind if I join you?” Haruka nodded and quickly stood up to pull out a chair for Michiru. Once they were both seated, the waiter came over and took their orders. Over a scrumptious dinner, the two conversed on many diffrent topics ranging from Haruka's racing to Michiru's violin. When dinner was over, Michiru invited Haruka to her room and pulled out her violin. Haruka seated herself before the piano and waited for Michiru to begin. When she did, it was as if the sea was singing a song of lament. Haruka closed her eyes for a few bars, listening. Swiftly, her fingers moved across the keys, and her playing sounded as if the wind was trying to soothe the troubled sea. When they finished the impromptu concert, Michiru had tears in her eyes, and she walked over to Haruka and said “Tenou-san, you have a beautiful gift. Please use it well and I hope we can play together again. As it is late, I do believe we both need some sleep, so I bid you good night.” Haruka bowed deeply as she left the room, and headed back to her own suite. Back in her bedroom, Michiru looked out the window and whispered “The sea is restless, stirred by the wind.” Over the course of the cruise, Haruka and Michiru grew to be very good friends.

Two years later, Haruka was at the Japanese national track finals, and she had invited Michiru along. Haruka had already won all the preliminary rounds she had been in, and was taking a quick shower when she felt an evil presence. She threw on her clothes, and as she walked through the door into the other room, she stopped and stared. A hidious monster stood a few feet away from her, looking around. Once it caught sight of her it rushed over and gathered her up in its claws. She yelled loudly, and began fighting the monster as best she could. Someeone behind her cried out “Haruka-san!” Haruka turned to find a vaguely familiar woman with aqua hair standing there. The woman was dressed in an odd aqua and blue fuku, and staring angrily at the monster she attacked. A planet shaped globe of water flew by, narrowly missing Haruka and slamming into the monster. Haruka was thrown across the room and knocked unconcious. When she awoke, the monster was holding the woman up by her throat. Haruka was in a rage, she stood up and could hear the wind she loved so much, tell her to destroy the monster. She took two steps forward and was suddenly blinded by a bright yellow light. She opened her eyes, and saw that inside the globe of light was a very dainty stick. She reached out to touch it, the wind whispering that it was the only way to save the woman, when a voice echoed through the room. “Stop, please.” Haruka looked around and realized that the words were coming from the woman. “Please, don't touch it, no matter what happens to me. It's not worth it.” Suddenly she fainted. Haruka stared at the woman and her anger broke free, she grasped the stick and pulled it towards her. A sigil flared on Haruka's forehead, aand she was surrounded by lights and ribbons. When they had all dissapeared, Haruka was wearing the same outfit as the woman. Raising her hand above her head, she sent all of her anger and all of her energy into an attack. The swirling globe of energy collided with the monster, disintegrating it instantly. Haruka ran across the room to the woman who had lost her strange outfit, and was dressed in normal clothes. In shock, Haruka said one word “Michiru.” The aqua-haired beauty's eyes opend and Haruka sighed. Michiru took in Haruka's outfit and asked one question “Why?” Haruka smiled sadly and whispered “I couldn't let it kill you.” Michiru threw her arms around Haruka's neck and hugged her. Haruka helped Michiru to her feet, then drove her home. Over the next few years, Haruka and Michiru traveled around the world. Racing, playing at concerts, and most important of all, taking out youma. They were the soldiers in the shadows. Eventually they returned to Japan as fast friends, and soon became more.

Two years later, Haruka was walking home from her job at the mechanic's, when she saw an arcade. Feeling a little nostalgic, she went inside. Walking around, she spotted a racing game currently occupied by two blonde girls. The blonde with a red bow, lapped her friend with the dumplings, who tried to slam on the gas and catch up. She failed miserably, and Haruka walked over. “May I join you if your friend doesn't want to play?” Bow pushed Dumpling out of the chair and gestured for Haruka to sit. Haruka handed her bag to Dumpling and sat down. Bow put some change in the slot and grabbed her wheel. As the green light flashed, Bow quickly accelerated along the race track, but when Bow looked over at Haruka, she was just sitting there. Haruka smirked and said “I have to give her a handicap.” Bow got really angry, and floored the accelerator. A few seconds later, Haruka put her hands on the wheel and stepped on the accelerator. She didn't even floor it, and she was going almost 400 km/h. When Haruka finally lapped her, Bow freaked out and crashed. Haruka was cheering up Bow, when Michiru walked in. “Sorry to be late Haruka.” She said as Haruka walked over to her. Haruka waved to the girls and said “Maybe next time you can race, Dumpling.” As they walked out the door, Michiru smiled and said “You've become good friends with them, haven't you?” Haruka smirked “Jealous?” Michiru poked her playfully and whispered “Maybe.” Later at a cafe down the street, Michiru looked a little worried. She Glanced over at her partner before staring back down at her cup and saying “The sea is restless again, we need to watch out in this town.” Haruka looked over at her and nodded her assent. They left the cafe, and headed down the street, just as a scream echoed down the street. They ducked into a deserted alley, and transformed, the familiar power coursing through their veins. The jumped back onto the street, right in front of the youma. “Enchanted by the New Age, here I am, Sailor Uranus, acting gorgeous.” Stepping up next to Uranus, the other figure said “In the same way, enchanted by the New Age, here I am, Sailor Neptune, acting gracefully.” Suddenly, two other figures arrivedand began their speeches “For love and justice, the pretty sailor suited soldier, Sailor Moon. In the name of the moon, I will defeat you.” The other girl pushed past Sailor Moon and began to spout off her speech. “I am Sailor Venus, and in the name of love and beauty, I will punish you.” Taking advantage of the distractions caused by the two newcomer's speeches, Uranus and Neptune launched a double attack. The monster was paralyzed, and Venus shouted ”Now Sailor Moon!” Moon pulled out a pink scepter, and quickly defeated the youma. As it desintegrated, Uranus took the heart crystal from her hand and examined it. She threw it angrily to Sailor Moon and said “It's useless, return it to its owner.” And they walked away. The next day, Haruka and Michiru entered the arcade once again. Bows ran over to Michiru and yelled “Where is Haruka-kun?” Michiru gestured at Haruka and Bows stared in shock. Finally regaining her composure, she intro duced herself and her friends. Feeling a little bad about crushing Minako's hopes, Haruka led them upstairs to the parlor and treated them to ice cream. All of the sudden, it felt as if the wind was swirling in a neverending vortex around Haruka. She grabbed Michiru's arm, and led her into the restroom. Haruka leaned up against the wall and said “The wind is troubled, is it disturbing the sea?” Michiru pulled out her mirror and peered into its depths. She nodded and the two left the parlor. As they passed by a telephone, it rang and Haruka picked it up. “Hello, who is this?” A sinister voice on the other end said “Sailor Uranus I presume. I have a message for you and Sailor Neptune. We've found the holders of the talismans, and since you seem to have the same goal as us, I wish to make a deal. Come to the Marine Cathedral right away, and we'll talk.” The voice laughed once more and hung up. Haruka quickly explained the situation, and they hopped into Haruka's car and sped away. Haruka pulled off to the side of the road, right before they reached the cathedral, and transformed. As they walked into the cathedral, the huge doors slammed behind them, and a smaller set opened up to show a corridor. They walked down it and when the entered the room at the end, a woman with flaming red hair stood there. “Uranus, Neptune, how nice to see you in the flesh.” She said mockingly, as she stepped towards them. Uranus growled “Just because we're here, doesn't mean we accept your deal. I want some proof of these talisman holders. And why if you knew where they were, did you need us?” The redhead stepped forward once more, and pulled a tube-like thing out from behind her back. “The answer will soon become clear.” She cackled out as she stepped forward and raised the thing. She pulled the trigger, but just before the light hit her, Neptune jumped in the way. A piercing scream echoed through the building, as Neptune reached out to her lover. Just as her fingers brushed Uranus', she passed out. A bright light erupted from Neptune's chest, and slowly solidified into a gorgeous mirror. Uranus collapsed to her knees, and stared as the redhead advanced on her. Finally Uranus' anger erupted and she attacked. Once she blasted the redhead through the wall, she picked up the thing. A pair of arms wrapped around her waist, and Uranus looked down to see Usagi hugging her, and crying. Uranus pushed her away, and raised the thing. A similar light erupted from her chest and solidified into a sword. Usagi dropped to the floor and reached out to her friend when the redhead appeared out of nowhere, and grabbed the talismans. Usagi transformed without help of the normal light show, and chased after her. “Give them back Eudial!” Sailor Moon screamed as sheentered into the room. She blasted her attack at Eudial, causing her to drop the talismans. She was about to blast once again, when a Sailor senshi with long green hair apppeared before her. “Pluto why are you here?” She asked, and Pluto bowed. “Princess, Eudial has two of the talismans, but I have the third.” She lifted the orb off the top of her staff, and held it out. It began to radiate a forest green light as it called out. The other talismans floated off the floor as Uranus and Neptune appeared behind them. Their heart crystals came out of the talismans, and entered back into their bodies. The sword beganto pulse with a blue aura, and the mirror answered with an aqua light. As the lights of the three talisamans combined, a silver light began to coalesce above their heads. As the grail took shape, Sailor Moon and Eudial began running towards it. They lept into the air, and Sailor Moon grasped ahold of it right before Eudial did. The silver light washed over her body as she landed on the floor, and Crisis Sailor Moon blasted Eudial out of existence. Moon ran over to hug Uranus, and then they left the cathedral. Over the next few years, the defeated the rest of the Death Busters, the Dark Moon Circus, and finally the battle with Galaxia and Chaos. Once the enemies were all defeated, Usagi broke up with Mamoru, and moved in with the outers. Haruka and Michiru got married, and officially adopted Hotaru as their daughter. Pluto left the time stream to be with the other outers, checking up on the time gates occasionally. Makoto opened her own retaraunt, and married a blooming owner of another restaraunt chain. Minako moved back to England and began her career as an actress. Rei, with occasional help from Taiki, became a very popular singer. Once she completed her first Multi-platinum album, she married Taiki. Ami traveled all around the world, practicing her medicine, and soon created cures for many diseases. Usagi and Hotaru were visiting Hotaru's old friends at the orphanage when a small child caught Usagi's eye. The pink-haired girl had been left at the orphanage a few days ago, and with much encouragement from the outers, Usagi adopted her, naming her Tsukino Chibi-Usa.
