Final chapter

Everything was ready inside Eris' temple. The tables were already done and the snacks ready to be eaten by guests. The rest of the Ghost five arrived at 8:15 pm, and spent their remaining private time relating their mission in England

"Well you see, there were strong warriors waiting for us" Ian related. His speech sounded slightly different, and that's because he acquired some British accent during the trip

"Among them Jamian, the raven trainer!" Pointed Jaguar, another of the newcomers.

"Oh I've heard of him" Eris remarked, sourly "He's from the sanctuary, isn't he?"

"Yes. He threw a bunch of black chickens at us!!" Christ laughed "Of course, we had plenty food for next day!"

"We fried them!" Ian mocked

"And we threw their trainer away! Mistress Eris! If only you could hear his shrieks of help!"

"Pathetic old fool!" Jaguar jeered

"Nice guys… Now I was needing to hear something about death and chaos!" Eris giggled

"I'm glad you had fun! Me and Maya didn't spend a bad time either, did us, Ma-kun?" Orpheus tugged Maya's sleeve

"You're right Orpheus. We got new boyfriends at school!" Maya confirmed

"Boyfriends? Wow! That sounds so cool!!" Ian chimed

"Yes! Do you remember Lord Abel?" Eris asked

"Zeus' son? But of course!" Christ said "What's with him?"

"Well, his group of Scarlet saints were assisting to school like us! That's how we met each other!" Orpheus related, cheerfully. His eyes were glimmering

"Oh I see…" Jaguar laughed "I don't know you, Ian, but Christ and me are happy together" And surrounded Christ with his arm

"Oh Jaguar!" Ian exclaimed, a bit angry

"Don't worry Ian" Eris giggled "Perhaps you will meet someone interesting today. Abel's saints are charming and handsome! You will surely love them to pieces!"

"But keep in mind that ginger Jaou Lynx is mine!" Orpheus pointed

"And blond Berenike Coma is mine!" Maya remarked

"Oh alright alright!" Ian blushed "Which one you left for me?"

"Only one blond warrior was left. His name is Karina Atlas" Eris answered "But don't worry, he's as charming as his partners"

DING DONG!

"Oh it must be them! Wait here, my pretties!" Eris excused herself and ran to open the door. In fact, it was Abel and his Scarlet Saints. The God smiled "Hi Eris! Are we late, by chance?"

"Oh no no! Come in, come in!" Eris exclaimed "In fact, the party was about to start!"

"Thanks!" Abel said "Follow me, guys!" And the warriors entered right behind him. Eris closed the door then.

The Ghost five were together, scattered through Eris' living room. All of them looked fabulous.

"Guys, do you remember Lord Abel, huh? He's going to share this celebration with you!"

A choir of masculine voices greeted Abel. Immediately, both Scarlet Saints and The Ghost Five were mingled, talking to each other. Only Atlas was behind, for being shy. But his loneliness didn't last long. Ian approached to him shyly "Hi… My name is Ian. Ian Scutum"

"How do you do?" Atlas greeted "My name is Atlas Karina"

"Nice to meet you" Ian replied "Wow so this is the Atlas Eris told me… He's so nice!"

"Care to eat something? You look like you need desperately some food" The Scutum warrior offered. Atlas gladly accepted "Sure… In fact I was a bit hungry"

Both saints sat to eat. Atlas really liked Ian. He definitely didn't look like the other saints. He had some exotic features: Lank, deep brown hair, hazel eyes. His skin was pale, and the leanness of his body reminded him of Jaou's. And what was really charming was his accent. Atlas inquired about it, and Ian said "Oh, since I was in England for some months, I picked up a little of their speech"

"So you know English!"

"Yes. It was easy after listening so many warriors speaking it… At first we didn't understand their threats, until one that knew a little of Greek threatened us" He giggled at the memory "He sounded so clumsy and funny! God I wanted to roll onto the floor and laugh!"

Atlas nodded, amused by the story. But Ian noticed some weird yet subtle quietness in him

"Is everything ok Atlas? I can see you're quite… Pensive"

"Oh it's nothing" Atlas answered "I was just thinking about how fun you can get when you travel abroad!"

"Ohh ok I get it! Next time I'll convince Eris to let me bring you along!"

"That would be nice…" Atlas accepted. He shook his glass, and his eyes rolled

"Come on Atlas, wake up!" Ian slapped his back "Let's go hiking! I want to show you all of Eris' temple!"

"Allright" And the saints got out.

Jaou and Orpheus saw them pass by. The first asked the second "Did you see that? I think Atlas is having fun…"

"Oh, but what happens to your partner?" Orpheus inquired

"Oh, it's a looooooooooong story…" Jaou sighed

"Oh well, we have plenty of time, so shoot out!"

Jaou related this afternoon incident. Orpheus listened, mouth open wide

"Man!! So you say poor Atlas was slaved by a God??"

"Yes, and it was hell for him… If it weren't because Berenike broke in with Lord Abel, who knows what might have had happened…"

"Holy Gods… And how did it end?"

"Well… Aphrodite came in, and took Eros with her, probably back to the Olympus" Jaou shrugged

"I see… My, I'm sorry… Poor Atlas…"

"Oh do not grieve for him… In any case, Atlas is doing goddamn well. Any other would be still in chaos and paranoia!"

"Yes I can see it…" Orpheus looked at his surroundings, and caught Abel and Eris holding each others' hands. He pulled Jaou's arm "Ja-kun, Ja-kun! Do you see that?"

"Eh, what?…" Jaou didn't know what was Orpheus referring to, until his sight caught both deities.

"I think Abel is trying to tell Eris something…"

"Man, I wonder what… You don't see Lord Abel like that all days!" Jaou mused

"Probably is something nice… Let's leave them alone… If we keep peeking they'll catch us" Orpheus recommended

"You're right… Let's dance!" Jaou said, throwing a final glance to Eris and Abel, whom were talking in low voice

"Jaou, you're such a hotshot!" Orpheus giggled when the ginger pulled him

"Do you remember yesterday?"

"Yes! That's why I told Eris to bring music!"

The young saints started to dance like crazy…

Abel leaned and whispered to Eris "Please marry me…" He held Eris' hand and kissed it. The Goddess sighed and blushed. She never thought of marriage before… She, the Goddess of Discord, never thought about linking herself with someone else and share her life. This proposition was like a bolt from the blue. She pondered the answer carefully…

"Umm… I… I don't know… I still have loads of chaos to create…" Eris cast her gaze down "I don't know if you will be able to put up with that unpleasant feature of mine…"

"I will be able to do that and a lot more!!" Abel nodded hotly "We can even create chaos together! After all, I am not so *pure*"

"If that's ok with you, then give me a few weeks to think about it, and I promise I'll be back with a definitive answer"

Abel gave her a pleased look "Take all the time you need. I would like a wise and well pondered answer, whether for bad or good"

"Thanks Abel… You know, I really like you, and that's why I'm willing to consider it"

"Then" Abel stood up and stretched his hand to help Eris stand too "Let the party go on. Shall we dance for a while?"

"Sure thing" Eris accepted. Perhaps the closeness of Abel's body would help her to consider.

Slowly, Abel held her waist and put his hand on her nape. Eris surrounded Abel's shoulders with her long, pale blue skinned arms. The danced, body against body, the romantic ballad that was currently playing.

Not far from them were Maya and Berenike, dancing too. The Coma saint smiled "Man, looks like they made it. Just look at Eris' face"

"Yeah" Maya whispered "Never saw her so happy before… Guess what… I was the one who suggested the idea of inviting Abel and you all"

"Really?" Berenike's chin leaned against Maya's shoulder "Then I should thank you…"

"Please don't do it…" Maya's voice trembled "Just… Just stay with me alright?"

"Gee, when the feeling is intense and so real, no words are needed" Berenike philosophised…

The stars were shinning in a clear sky. The night was full of silence, yet so beautiful. The Saints sat on a fallen column. Ian sighed "It's boring to be alone…"

Atlas looked at Ian surprised "Why do you say that?"

"Humm… Because even when you're surrounded by people, you still feel alone, and it's so boring, when you got no one to share secrets…"

"Oh I get it…" Now it was Atlas' turn to sigh "Tell that to me…"

"Have you been alone for long?"

"So so… But since Jaou and Berenike are always with me, my loneliness was reduced by half… However, there's still one part of me that feels completely alone…"

"Yes… That happens to me…" Ian replied "Maya is with Berenike, thing that surprises me, because Maya was always solitaire…"

"What happened to Maya?" Atlas inquired

"Many years ago, when he was a bit younger, he got himself involved with one of those warriors at the sanctuary. Things went good for a time, until he came and told Maya 'I need my space. You're asphyxiating me'

"Man, that sucks!!" Atlas said, disgusted

"Like Maya were asphyxiating him!!" Ian spat "Poor Maya, he always did his best to respect his privacy, yet that moron told him that stuff!"

"Hell, and what did Maya do?" Atlas asked

"He turned cold, and swore he wouldn't ever care for feelings, no matter what" Ian shrugged "Later, we found that blockhead had another affaire… Man, he was cheating Maya Lord knows for how long!"

"That sucks indeed" Atlas' eyes rolled "I perfectly understand him"

"But now, Maya looks happy with Berenike. I just hope he have luck with him!" Ian cast his eyes down "And that's why I can't count him as someone to share my loneliness… And the same goes with Orpheus, who is with the ginger… Joau? Jauo?"

"Jaou" Atlas corrected "Jaou Lynx"

"That one. And Jaguar and Christ are involved long before we arrived here… So, I am alone"

Atlas sighed "I guess you found your soul-mate. But besides alone, I was a perfect toy for an abusive God"

"A God? What do you mean Atlas?" Ian inquired, surprised

"Taking advantage of my loneliness…" Atlas explained "Eros possessed me"

"Who's him? Aphrodite's son?" Ian's eyes popped out. His ears refused to believe what he was hearing

"Indeed. He made me do some embarrassing things that I couldn't remember later"

"Son of a bitch!" Ian said, undignified

"It was all pleasure, but only physical, because no feeling of well-being came out of it" Atlas muttered "And I hated him"

"Man, no wonder why you hated him! I'd feel the same!!" Ian moved, uneasy "And how did you get rid of him?"

"Lord Abel and Aphrodite came in, along with Berenike"

"Oh great! I'm sure his mum taught him a lesson!" Ian mocked "That serves him right!!!"

"Yeah… But now, I'm free, yet still feeling so alone…"

"That happens to everyone…" Now Ian's eyes were fully focused on Atlas "But when two lone-wolves get together, they have nothing but fun! Don't you agree?"

Atlas smiled "I'm bored, you're bored too. So let's fight boredom together!"

"You got it" And they kissed sweetly, under the moon's mischievous gaze…

Eris spent the following weeks pondering Abel's proposition. Then she finally decided to accept. Anyways, what could she lose?. She wrote a note to her brother Ares and sister in law, Aphrodite, to come to her marriage. Next, she gathered her saints to communicate them her decision…

"My dear saints. I have news for you"

The warriors stared at each other. Eris continued

"For some years, we always fought as Eris, The Goddess of Discord and her Ghost five saints, isn't it?"

The saints nodded.

"Well, now, after giving it some thought, I decided to consider Abel's proposition"

"What was that proposition, may I inquire?" Ian asked, shyly.

"Marriage"

Ten pair of eyes popped. Whispers of the saints, inquiring gazes

"Mistress Eris" Maya said, recovering from the shock "Are you serious about this?"

"As far as we know, you were never married before" Jaguar pointed

Eris waited until the guys silenced "I know you may think it's too soon, but I cannot delay this decision anymore. Perhaps it was destiny that I should end up married"

Silence from the saints. Eris clapped her hands together, in a praying attitude

"Please understand me. Besides, I think we all could make a big family"

The warriors stared at each other. They whispered something and then kneeled before Eris

"Our adored Goddess, thy decision shall be accepted and respected"

Orpheus was the first one standing up and jumped "Mistress is going to marry Abel, mistress is going to marry Abel!" He sung

Maya pulled him down "Orpheus behave!" He scolded him

"Don't worry Maya" Eris said, smiling pleased "I'm glad you guys agree. I'm sure you won't regret"

"Where will be the marriage, our lady?" Christ asked

"I haven't decided yet, but I'll ask mum Hera if I could borrow her temple" Eris said, pensive "I think I'll go first to Abel's and then we should go to the Olympus and ask mum" Eris' gaze danced around her saints "You will stay here until I come back, alright?"

"As you wish mistress" The saints answered, all in unison

*********************************************************************** *

"AAAHHHHHHH?????" The Scarlet saints yelled at unison

"Lord Abel, please think over!" Atlas begged

"There's no turning back, Atlas" Abel answered, coldly "Besides, I took this decision long time ago. I was just waiting for the right moment to ask her"

"It won't be that bad Atlas!" Berenike pointed "We all know all of Eris' saints and we can get along easy!"

"Berenike is right" Jaou said "See it by the bright side: You'll be with Ian all day!"

Abel smiled, but didn't say anything. He preferred to wait until his saints agree with each other.

Atlas mumbled something, but he eventually accepted. Abel smiled again, pleased

"Allright guys. I just have to wait for Eris' answer. She promised me she would let me know today"

Someone was knocking at the door, and Berenike ran to open. Surprise! It was Eris!

"Oh, Madame Eris!" Berenike bowed "Glad to see you around… Say, what brings you to Abel's temple?"

"Why, I came to see Abel, of course, sweetie" Eris replied

"Then come in, Abel is waiting for you" And guided the Goddess inside.

"Lord Abel, Eris wants to communicate something to you" Berenike announced

The two deities stared at each other. Abel finally took the word "Well, Eris? What have you decided?"

The Goddess smiled "I will"

Berenike and Jaou jumped, while Atlas limited himself to smile faintly. Eris and Abel hugged themselves and shared a big kiss…

*********************************************************************** *********

The marriage was celebrated next month. The whole Olympus assisted. When the priest gave the order to the couple to kiss, many of the guests wept, among them Ares, the God of War, and Eris' brother as well "At last that girl gets married!"

"She looks so happy, indeed" Hera wept.

Zeus smiled "She needed company, my poor girl"

The Scarlet Saints and the Ghost Five were in a row, all together "Just look at Master Abel!" Atlas said

"He looks gorgeous, with his beautiful divinity!" Berenike remarked

"Eris now is in love and so happy!" Orpheus commented, about to cry. Jaou held him tight "Indeed, my love, indeed. Like you and me"

"Right" Orpheus stared at Jaou with wet eyes. He buried his face into his lover's chest and started sobbing

"Viva Eris!" Ian exclaimed "I now she'll be happy for all eternity!"

"I still cannot accept this at all, but heck, may happiness last forever for them!" Atlas thought, surrounding Ian's waist. Who knows if it was also his turn to be happy too!

The big party was celebrated in the Olympus, with Zeus' and Hera's permission. Orpheus sang beautifully, and all guests danced, ones sharing wine, others talking and laughing. Of course, the wine was courtesy of Dionysus, who also brought with him his assistants. He addressed to the happy just-married couple "For your eternal happiness! Cheers" And offered a pair of glasses to Abel and Eris.

"Thanks Dionysus… You haven't changed at all, you know?"

"Oh, but so do you!" The God laughed

"How's the orgies' business going huh?" Eris inquired, shaking her glass of wine

"Not bad! I sign a contract to bring wine, girls, beautiful men in this kind of events! And everything for a good fee!"

"Nice!" Abel remarked.

Now, the two saints groups joined forces, and became one… Eris moved from her temple to Abel's, and they were happy forever.
