As Gyokumen sat in her seat before the towering figure of the demon king, she unfurled the Seiten sutra, running her fingers along its length. It was almost as though she could feel the power emanating from the ancient scripture, though its secrets she could barely grasp. It was an item that had been paid for with the life of its bearer, not that she cared enough to remember what his name had been. Gyokumen gazed up at the slumbering Gyumaoh, a faint smile gracing her features.
“Soon, my love,” she told him even though her words couldn't reach him in his current state. “Soon both of us will have our dreams come true.” She was almost certain that the demon would be so grateful for the loyalty of his most beloved mistress that he would make her his wife, and she would take her rightful place by his side. “All of this, I'm doing for you.” This was at least partly true, in a way.
She began to roll the sutra, its surface smooth in her hands, as she frowned, moving to return it to its hiding place. If she could attain the others like it, this would all be over and done with. How long would she have to wait before she was granted what was her due? She'd held second place to another for far too long.
Footsteps soon echoed in the spacious room as a familiar voice rang out. “You called for me, my lady?” It was Ni, the scientist that had been working for her for several years in many different capacities. But it wasn't his expertise in his field of training that she was interested in tonight.
Gyokumen strode slowly over to the approaching scientist. She frowned at him. “Don't act so put upon, Ni.” She watched the man shrug, his stuffed rabbit tucked snugly under one arm. Why he always carried that thing around with him was beyond her. Humans could be so strange.
“It is the middle of the night, Lady Gyokumen.” He pushed up his glasses with one finger as a crooked smile split his face. “Even scientists need their beauty rest.”
She huffed, moving closer to him. “There are two reasons that I put up with you, Ni, and neither is your sparkling personality.”
“Oh?” he asked, placing a hand casually on her hip. “And I was under the impression that it was one of my best qualities.”
“Not to worry,” Gyokumen told him as she sidled closer, a hand sliding up his chest. “You'll stay in my good graces as long as you please me.” Her eyes narrowed. “On both counts,” she finished.
Ni smiled faintly as he encircled her with his arms. “Well, one must do as one must.”
Gyokumen reached up to pull Ni's loosened tie free before stroking the flesh of his neck. She drew her nails down the column of his throat before laving the reddening skin with her tongue. Ni chuckled slightly, not minding the mild pain. He gazed up behind her at the slumbering Gyumaoh. He smirked, wondering what the demon would say if he could see his mistress now, bargaining his life and those of his offspring for her own ambitions. If he could see her, draped across the body of her lover of convenience, a human at that, what would he do?
Ni began to return her advances, leaning down to kiss her as he slid hands across her clothed skin. To him, just as to her, this situation between them was a convenience, a means to further one's own cause. Being here in the castle served Ni's true purpose, and pleasing Gyokumen in such a way mollified her enough so that he could go about it. The way that she was currently utilizing the thigh that she'd pressed between his legs reminded Ni that this particular part of his job description wasn't always a chore.
Ni was mildly surprised to find that, despite everything that she had done, he could almost admire Gyokumen's single-minded ambition that she couched in terms of love that had shrouded their entire world in madness. But only almost, since the woman had even managed to convince herself of her devotion. Or perhaps she was devoted, after a fashion.
But to Ni, every act of seeming sacrifice, of oneself or of others, is done mainly for one's own gain. It was the way of the world, even if there were those who denied it. It amused Ni to no end how few people actually realized the truth of their own motivations.
“Shouldn't we go somewhere more private?” Ni asked as he pulled away somewhat when she tried to unbutton his shirt. “It might be embarrassing to be caught here in a compromising position.”
Gyokumen looked up into his dark eyes, hers dancing with humor. “I'm surprised that you've retained a sense of modesty, considering everything we've done. It's not like I'd care who walked in on us.” She pulled away to turn toward the exit, gazing at the scientist over her shoulder. “But since it offends those delicate sensibilities of yours,” she said with a faint smile, “I suppose I can control myself until we're in my quarters.”
Ni trailed behind her as she led the way back toward her rooms, a cigarette now hanging from his lips. He regarded her in the dimly lit corridors, a figure draped in blue moving with the speed of impatience. Ni smiled to himself. She never did have much luck at delaying gratification.
Moments later, the pair had arrived at their destination, Gyokumen entering the room, her footsteps light upon the floor. Her ladies in waiting smiled at her before bowing. She acknowledged them with a nod before gesturing at them dismissively. The two demons shot Ni a disapproving glance as they brushed past him on their way out. He took little notice of them, as his attention was focused on the demon crossing the spacious quarters back to enter the bedroom.
Ni took a last drag on his cigarette before putting it out in the ashtray on a low table by the wall. He smirked, remembering when Gyokumen had procured it, annoyed at how he'd once dropped ash onto the carpeted floor. He sauntered over to the bedroom, leaning against the doorframe as he gazed over at its occupant.
Gyokumen sat facing him on the large bed, her robe pushed off of one shoulder to expose the creamy skin beneath. A faint smile graced her features. On other women, it would be considered coy. On her, such a thing could only be predatory. She drew her robe up to bare the skin of one thigh, drawing painted nails lightly across her own flesh.
“Come now,” Gyokumen told him. “Don't make me wait.”
There was no plea in her statement, but impatient demand. He pushed off of the doorframe to enter the room, pulling the door shut behind him. Ni paused to place his stuffed rabbit on the vanity opposite the bed before joining the demon on it. When he was close enough, Gyokumen captured his lips as she slid his lab coat from his shoulders, letting it fall carelessly to the edge of the bed and then the floor. She pulled at the buttons of his shirt as he tried to assist her. Soon, their garments were scattered in the area near the bed. Gyokumen caught a glimpse over Ni's shoulder of his stuffed rabbit propped up on her vanity facing her, its faint smile seeming almost mocking to her, before he pushed her down onto the bed.
Hands threaded through Ni's dark locks as he settled between her spread thighs, nibbling on the column of her throat. Gyokumen undulated against him, trying to get friction for her aching center. Ni smiled against her soft skin. All things in due time, he thought.
His lips trailed down to where he kneaded a supple breast in one hand, laving then suckling the nipple. Gyokumen arched up against him, as if trying to get more of the sensation. A hand kneaded his shoulder, the other drawing nails across his back. Ni grinded his hips against her until she looked up at him, hunger and annoyance at being teased in her eyes.
Gyokumen reached between their bodies, grasping his erection and stroking him to hardness. Her chest heaved in anticipation. She grinned at him. “Play nicely if you're going to play at all, Ni.”
He soon pushed into the warmth of her body, feeling her mold around him. He sank in deeply, sighing before setting up a languid rhythm. Gyokumen would have none of that, grinding up against him until he matched the rhythm of her hips. She sighed, her hair a pool of teal silk spread across satiny pillows. Beads of perspiration formed on her chest and face. Her breath came in deep gasps through parted lips. Gyokumen was the picture of debauchery, Ni thought, as he gazed down at her. She was beautiful at times like this, her cruel tongue put to better uses as she leaned up to kiss him deeply, a hand sliding behind his head to pull him back down with her.
Ni marveled at the heat of her body as it strained around him, at the strong legs that circled his waist, at the sharpened nails drawn across his back, firm enough to sting but not so much so that they drew blood. He might have marks in the morning, more to join the countless others that marred his pale skin. Ni gazed down into her hungry eyes as he pushed into her firmly, at the lips that parted to reveal gritted sharp teeth. She never cried out at times like this. As usual, the room was filled with her gasps and occasional growls. Gyokumen leaned up to worry the skin of his throat with her teeth, nipping at the soft flesh found there.
At times like this, Ni didn't think of particularly anything, just the feel of their bodies moving against each other, the pleasure that they stole from each other's flesh. He would look at her as she became the very embodiment of need, his reflection in her eyes like the echo of his own desires that he saw within her darkened heart.
Gyokumen's muscles pulled taut as she clung to him, more out of reflex than any emotion, her body wracked with shivers as she tumbled over the edge. Ni managed a few more thrusts into her body before he spilled himself deep within her. Spent, he settled down against her, his face in the crook of her shoulder, puffs of heated breath displacing her tousled hair.
After a few moments respite, Ni rose from the bed, gathering his clothing from the floor to don before leaving. Gyokumen watched him dress with half-lidded eyes from her vantage point, lying on rumpled sheets, her body barely covered by the blanket on the bed. Ni never stayed after their trysts. The demon had never asked, and Ni had never offered. It was just as well. For Ni to hold Gyokumen as she drifted off to sleep, murmuring to her as she lay against him, her long hair spilling across his chest, would be too much of a lie, even for him.
He pulled a wrinkled pack of cigarettes from his lab coat, pulling one out with his lips to be lighted. Ni turned toward the bed to bid Gyokumen goodnight, but found that she'd already drifted off to sleep.
