Author's Notes: Inspired by a chat that I had with a friend of mine recently.
Striding down the corridor, Dokugakuji headed for the dining room in search of the prince. Not for business, but just to talk. Kougaiji had gone out alone the night before, only recently returning. In fact, he'd seen much less of Kougaiji of late, and the demon found that he missed the pleasure of his company.
Arriving at the door, he beheld a sight that he usually did, that of Yaone serving Kougaiji something to eat. But the weight of her hand on his shoulder as she stood beside him seemed more than just friendly, as did the way the prince gazed up into her eyes as his hand covered hers. Dokugakuji tried to dismiss this as the usual pleasantness he'd observed between the pair. But the way that she leaned down to press lips to the prince's, his face tilting up to meet them, sent the walls of Dokugakuji's well-formed world crumbling down around him.
The demon turned away from the room before the occupants could sense him, storming away down the corridor, knowing that he had no right to. How could he begrudge his friend and leader for finding happiness with someone? But Dokugakuji had cared for the prince as friend and protector, and after a time, had found that more lay within his heart. But fear of the prince's disapproval and rejection had silenced him, and this is what it had wrought.
Dokugakuji stopped near a darkened alcove, pounding his fist into the wall as he leaned against it, emotion causing his throat to choke and his eyes to burn. But he wouldn't yield to it, at least not where anyone could possibly see. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't shake the feeling of being betrayed by both of his companions, or the jealousy that tugged at him.
His head bowed in an admission of his weakness, the demon muttered aloud, “I've got no one to blame except myself.”
“That's more than I hear from most,” said a familiar voice nearby, “the acceptance of one's own culpability. I do wonder what it is that you've done this time, though.”
It was Ni, the last person in the castle that Dokugakuji had wanted to run into. How the man always managed to sneak up on him was beyond the demon.
“I'm not in the mood for you today, Ni,” Dokugakuji warned. Composing himself, he turned to face the scientist.
Ni looked as if put upon. “I was merely expressing my concern,” he said shrugging, his stuffed rabbit tucked under one arm.
“As if you actually care,” the demon snapped.
“Of course I care,” Ni said, wearing an expression dripping with the sympathy that Dokugakuji was sure the man didn't feel. “You're an important part of attaining what's needed for our experiments, along with the prince of course-”
“Look, I don't need to listen to your babbling…” Dokugakuji snapped, then trailed off as he had the distinct impression of being scrutinized, of his reactions being gauged. Whatever Ni was playing at, he wanted no part of it.
“Your foolish games are of no interest to me today, Ni,” Dokugakuji said as he straightened, brushing past the scientist to start down the corridor.
Ni gazed at the demon over his shoulder, fixing his glasses with one hand. “Oh? I don't think that I'm the one playing games here… Sha Jien.”
Ni suddenly found himself spun and pushed against a wall, the bunny that he'd held falling to the floor beside him. He looked into the demon's angry eyes fearlessly. “Such shocking behavior. So tell me, what is it that you intend to do now that you have me like this?”
Dokugakuji growled as he gripped the scientist's shoulders, claws beginning to bite into the flesh hidden by his clothing. Ni's arrogance in the face of danger was infuriating. “Don't tempt me, human,” Dokugakuji said in a low voice. Everything that usually bothered the demon about the man annoyed him even more so today. The dark eyes that stared into his, often shining with a feeling that the demon couldn't quite place, that filthy mouth of his that could spew such hateful things. The smell of sex that seemed to always cling to Ni, as if he had just rolled out of Gyokumen's bed.
Then Ni's expression changed, his eyes gazing into Dokugakuji's knowingly, as if every thought was plain for him to see. The demon watched Ni part his lips, a pink tongue peeking out to moisten them slowly. The urge to lean in and taste them was suddenly maddening.
“You're always so fearful of being found out,” Ni remarked finally, “fearful that your friends will realize that your intentions toward them aren't as noble as you'd like them to believe.” Ni canted his head to one side as he continued to hold the demon's gaze. “I think that you envy those who have no such illusions that they have to maintain.”
“Be quiet,” Dokugakuji said. Despite the fact that it was Ni who was within his grasp, he suddenly felt as if he were the one who was cornered. “You're always spouting such nonsense.”
A smile curled the scientist's lips. “It's only nonsense if you fail to understand it.”
Dokugakuji growled again, earning a brief chuckle from the man. “Such anger towards me, and I can't even understand why,” Ni said with feigned innocence.
“You can't?” the demon countered. “You are always putting yourself where you don't belong, speaking about things that you have no right to-”
“Is it a crime to be observant?” Ni interrupted. “I know these things the same way that I know that you don't mind my behavior as much as you pretend to, you who's standing there, inhaling my scent.”
“Don't be ridiculous,” Dokugakuji said, heat rising to his cheeks as his eyes narrowed. “What are you trying to imply?”
Ni spoke again, the predatory smile that he wore making the demon wary. “You can play at ignorance all you like, but I've always had a sense for this kind of thing. It's not like I haven't noticed that your dislike of me has always been laced with a certain… interest.”
Dokugakuji closed in on him, forcing the man to look up into his face. He planted both hands to either side of the scientist's shoulders, the slap of them seeming so loud in the corridor. “You talk too much,” Dokugakuji said before leaning in for a forceful kiss.
The demon told himself that he was doing it to frighten the man, to show Ni that there were limits to how far you could push someone, that today was the day that someone would take what he had offered in jest. But the demon soon found the kiss dominated by the human, a hand fisting his short locks, a tongue sweeping his mouth possessively. Dokugakuji felt trapped by the arms that Ni circled around him, by the leg that moved to press up between his in promise. He pulled away from Ni after a long moment, his chest heaving and his knees weak.
“You really are as shameless as everyone says,” the demon remarked when he was able to catch his breath.
Ni chuckled, moving to wind arms around Dokugakuji's neck as he looked up into his dark eyes. “The state of the world as it is, and you can talk about shame?” His body pressed against the larger one before it. “Besides, if you were honest with yourself, you'd have to admit that you've always been shameless.”
Dokugakuji stiffened. There was no way that Ni could know about the things he'd done, what he'd had to do. But the press of the man's body was insistent, and the demon found himself resting hands on the human's waist as Ni smiled faintly as if in victory before leaning up to claim his lips again.
On some level, Dokugakuji knew that this was all a game to Ni, that he was yet another toy for the man to play with. But as deft hands began to caress all the right places, he suddenly found himself unable to care. He had so wanted to reach out to someone, but hadn't for fear of losing what little he had. And now, that chance had been lost, if he'd ever even had one. Dokugakuji could still feel that emptiness within himself, but now, Ni had entered to fill it. Ni did so with the darkness that he seemed to exude from himself, a perpetual hunger that seemed to burn from behind his dark eyes, the need to consume until there was nothing left. The desire for the next game, the next toy, and Dokugakuji found himself yielding to it.
Dokugakuji soon found himself pulled deep within the adjacent alcove. Though draped by shadow, the pair could probably still be seen by any passersby. But the way that the human pulled at the fastenings to his clothing as he worried the demon's lower lip with blunt teeth made Dokugakuji forget his concerns.
“If we're going to do this,” Dokugakuji started when he managed to break away from the kiss, “don't we need something to…” he trailed off as Ni produced a small tube from the pocket of his lab coat before it was dropped carelessly to the ground.
“Do you carry this stuff around with you all the time?” Dokugakuji asked as he held up the item Ni had pushed into his hand.
Ni shrugged as one hand pulled his tie loose and the other unfastened the buttons to his shirt. “I've always made a habit of being prepared for everything.” He soon moved to unfasten the demon's pants, reaching in to encircle his length with long deft fingers.
Dokugakuji frowned at Ni, watching him unfasten his pants one-handed. They rustled as they fell to the floor. “I just didn't think that you'd… you're usually with Gyokumen…” he muttered as Ni began to work in earnest.
“Pleasure is pleasure wherever you find it,” Ni answered. His eyes narrowed as he smirked. “And it's not as though some women don't enjoy that sort of thing.”
“Just forget I said anything about it,” Dokugakuji said quickly, regretting mentioning her name. At a time like this, he didn't need to be reminded that he held second place to someone else, even with the scientist. Ni gazed at him as if knowing his thoughts, but was polite enough not to comment.
“Hmm,” Ni remarked after a few moments of fondling that had the demon's legs feeling like jelly as he braced himself against the near wall. “On second thought, I'd better do that. Your nails are quite sharp.”
Pleasure-hazed as his mind was, Dokugakuji didn't realize what Ni was referring to, until the small tube was plucked from his grasp and the hand that had felt so good wrapped around him was removed. He was about to protest when he saw the man reach behind himself with coated fingers, working the substance into himself. Dokugakuji's mouth dropped open as he watched Ni prepare himself, lids falling to half-mast as he moaned softly. The sound of it made the demon ache. Dokugakuji moved forward to grasp the man's erection. Ni hissed as fingers wrapped around him, the strokes becoming more sure by the moment. His head fell heavily against the demon's shoulder as he groaned.
Soon, Dokugakuji felt a cool substance being spread over his length. Circling arms around his neck, Ni hopped up onto the demon, whose hands instinctively moving to support the scientist's rear, Ni wrapping long legs around his waist. Realizing the position that the scientist had in mind, Dokugakuji lifted the man to hover over his erection, allowing gravity to do the rest. Ni sighed as he was slowly impaled, shivering.
After a moment, Dokugakuji pressed Ni back against the wall, pushing up into the man with shallow thrusts. He could feel Ni's breath against his face in gentle puffs, and though his features were bathed in shadow, he could see the scientist's smirking face as well as the dark eyes hazed by lust that pierced his.
Ni panted, managing to speak. “So gentle, Jien? I'm not so fragile that I'll break. Put your back into it.”
Dokugakuji punctuated his words with sharp thrusts. “Don't. Call. Me. That.”
Ni gasped at each firm stroke, his eyes burning into Dokugakuji's. The demon growled, surprised somewhat at almost wanting to hurt the man, to draw a whimper out of him as some form of triumph. But Dokugakuji soon had the sense that he'd played into another manipulation as Ni's eyes glazed over with pleasure. The demon soon forgot about this as Ni pulled him close to sear his lips with his own. They kissed sloppily, tongues sliding against each other as they panted, the breath of one becoming the breath of the other.
Blunt fingernails bit into cloth-covered shoulders as Ni rolled his hips in time to Dokugakuji's rhythm, their bodies glistening with sweat as they slid against one another. He could feel the prick of claws against his backside, strong hands that seared his flesh. His aching length was rubbed between the close fit of their bodies, delicious friction. Something had told Ni that there was a dark passion that simmered behind the façade that Dokugakuji usually tried so hard to control. Ni so enjoyed being right, especially when the results he obtained were like this.
But nothing that felt as good as this could go on forever. Though Ni tried to keep his orgasm at bay, to stretch this moment for as long as he could, he came undone. The muscles of his body tensed, and Ni groaned against Dokugakuji's shoulder. He splashed against their bellies slick and warm. The demon growled as he shoved into Ni with erratic thrusts before pushing deep and holding it, spilling heat deep within him. The sharp press of his claws marked pale flesh.
For a moment, they stayed connected, chests heaving, Ni lapping at the side of the other's throat. Then the pair separated, the demon slipping out of the man so that he could place his feet on the ground to support shaky legs. Ni leaned against the wall, sated, as Dokugakuji did likewise.
After a moment, Ni smirked. “Not bad, Sha Jien. Not bad at all.”
“Why do you always call me that?” Dokugakuji asked as he collected himself, almost too tired to be annoyed. “That's not what I call myself anymore.”
Ni eyed him as he calmed his breathing. “It's not what you want to be called, but it's who you are. And besides, to know the true name of a thing gives you power over it.”
Dokugakuji's eyes narrowed. “You don't have any power over me.”
That smirk was back. “Of course not,” he answered in a patronizing tone. Dokugakuji soon had the nagging suspicion that what had just occurred was evidence to the contrary.
“Besides,” Dokugakuji continued as he watched the man bend to retrieve cigarettes from the pocket of his jacket, “that would work both ways, since I know who you are.”
The smirk widened to a grin as the scientist lit the cigarette that hung from his lips. “Do you, now?”
