Samurai Champloo Fan Fiction ❯ Loving Fuu ❯ Walking ( Chapter 2 )

It was the beginning of a new day. The sun shown through the trees, putting a golden glaze over all that were touched my it... taking in a deep breath, a loud, irritated sigh was emitted from Mugen.

"you've got to be kidding me.. another damn check point.. " Mugen's eyes narrowed as he looked around, " there’s got to be a better way to get through here.." Fuu glanced around and sighed slightly

"I hope that we don't need to pay.. or have a travel pass.."

“We undoubtedly will..” Jin looked over at Fuu.. Who was looking straight ahead and going up to the booth to ask what was required to pass.

“You know.. That girl doesn’t look so bad when you see her from behind and she ain’t talkin’ “ Mugen smirked and walked quickly away from Jin to Join besides Fuu. Jin’s hand had tightened on the hilt of his sword as he grit his teeth…knuckles white with the strain of his tight grip..

“Fuu-chan.. are we ready to go?” Jin’s soft voice called to her as he walked up, to her other side. Glaring at Mugen and loosening his fingers from the hilt to move his hand up and push his glasses up the bridge of his nose.

“Uaah… I guess so.. um. Where did Mugen go?” Fuu looked around quickly, seeing that Mugen was no where in site.. rasing an eyebrow and looking around, she glanced at Jin, “ You don’t think that he’s ran off do you?”

“mm..” was Jin’s only reply.. he looked to the eastern sky, seeing the sun was up, appearing to be around 10 am.. he shrugged slightly and began to walk on. Glad to have gotten through the check point with just a scan over where they were carrying with them.

“I hope Mugen doesn’t get himself hurt..”

“mm..”

Time went on the two continued to talk, as the sun stood at the noon position. Fuu squinted up for a sec before looking around again,

“ He hasn’t shown up.. should we look for him.. he still has to help us! He promised to help find the Sunflower Samurai!!” Fuu silently fumed as she continued along the paethed path..

He’d better come back.. I have yet had the chance to kill hi–

“Jin-san!! There’s a fork in the road ahead? Do we go left, or right?” Jin looked up at the sound of Fuu’s confused voice.

“Left..”

“That path doesn’t look used very much.. are you sure?”

“ you asked which way… and I think we should go left, Fuu-chan..”

“alright..” Fuu smiled and began down the path, with Jin following right behind her.. they continued along the path, Which was nothing more then a dirt path that led deeper and deeper into the woods. The brush around the road was growing wildly, yet didn’t go out into the road.. Fuu hummed softly to her self as they went on. The sun, now in the western sky, was casting a red light over everything, signifying the coming of a sunset..

“Fuu-chan.. I think we had better rest for the ni–“ Jin was cut off as his sandles seemed to have slipped out from under him. The same seemed to have happened to Fuu, who fell along with him into the now collapsed trap pit that had been in the middle of the road..

The loud laughter or obviously drunk men could be heard from a house near the check out point. Mugen smirked, seeing the earning before him that he only had one more roll to make before he won it all..

This ought to make us all happy for a bit! Ah ha ha

“Alright! This is the winning throw!!” Mugen laughed loudly with the rest of the men as he drained his sake cup, and the dice were tossed, leaving his hand to land on the hard floor in the middle of the circle of men that were gambling drunkenly..
