~~~~~~~~~~
Kane and Zero walked stealthily through the forest as the clouds hid the sun from shining in the sky. Zero didn't have to wear sunglasses, which he was grateful for. He missed seeming things in their real colors outside. Kane was carrying a gun with him, which Zero didn't know exactly why he was. They really didn't need guns.
Zero followed the other knight since Kane knew where they were supposed to be going. He didn't know. No one bothered to tell him. He just knew he had to do this or Kikumon would be pissed off.
" So, has anything new happened to you?" Kane asked. " Too many things, my friend," Zero answered. " Talking caterpillars and bunnies everywhere!" Kane stopped and looked at Zero questionably.
" What?"
" Er…" Zero sweatdroped. " …I actually meant physically."
" Huh?"
" Have you felt any significant changes as of late?"
" Well…" Zero thought for a moment. " I'm a lot more, uh, sexually active…" Kane hit him over the head. " Ow!" Kane sighed.
" Anything else?"
" Yeah, things are tasting bitter lately…"
" You'll get used to that in about a year…." Zero blinked. " A year?" he repeated. " Kane, you haven't…"
" I've been like this for over a year now," Kane admitted. He turned around and resumed walking. " We better hurry up and get that thing Kibaomaru wants." Zero knew that if he told the others about his relationship with the enemy, they will do more than just freak out.
Well, it could be worse; he could be Tallgeese's love slave or something. (A/N: *hums something about the ol' perv Tallgeese* ^_^)
" Kane?" Zero caught up with Kane as they seemed to near a mansion that sat on a short cliff lush with plants.
" Yes?"
" What are we doing exactly?"
" Something valuable from there." Kane pointed to the mansion. " …Why should WE obtain it?" Zero growled.
" Well, it's obviously a job for vampires or they wouldn't have sent us on such a trivial task," Kane said simply. Zero sighed while rolling his shoulders. " I suppose there are traps or something in there that has killed a few others before us."
" Great, send in the knights who shant not perish due to immortality!" Zero hated it when Kikumon would make him do things that would normally kill a normal person. Just because he could live through it, doesn't mean it doesn't hurt!!
" Well, that's life."
" You mean, UN-life!" Zero spat.
**
Kane and Zero easily got into the mansion through an open window on the second floor. Kane flicked his dark blue cape to the side while scanning the hallway.
" See where it is?" Zero asked. Kane nodded. " No, but let's go and interrogate whoever lives here for the information." Zero swallowed hard. Interrogation to Kane meant to rip them to shreds.
They froze as they heard a door from behind them click open. A little girl with fluffy white hair that went down to her waist walked out sleepily in a light pink nightgown. She was probably about five at the least. She spotted the two Gundams and blinked the sleepiness out of her eyes.
Zero darted his eyes to Kane to make sure he wouldn't do anything to her. He hoped not.
" Hi!" she smiled. " Who are you?"
" We're …umm…" Zero tried to think of an alibi to give to the little girl.
Kane was suddenly behind the little girl, looking down at her with narrow eyes. " Kane, no!!" Zero cried. Kane ignored Zero and grabbed the girl by her neck and lifted her up. She screamed, but it was cut off when he tightened his grip.
" Now, be a good little girl and tell us where the Litho creature is," Kane demanded. The little girl struggled in Kane's grip, gasping for air.
" Kane, stop it!!" Zero commanded.
" No. This is somewhat fun." Zero stared at Kane unbelieving. " WHAT did you say?!"
" I said this is fun."
" She's just a child, let her go NOW!" Kane looked at Zero as the Winged Knight stared him down. " That is an order soldier. Put her down." Kane glanced at the girl, then released his grip. She fell to the floor, gasping for breath while sobbing in fear. Zero went up to the girl and knelt next to her, but not before shooting a glare at Kane.
" P-please don't hurt me m-mister…" she pleaded in between fearful sobs. Zero looked at her sadly as she trembled.
" Do not be afraid," Zero said soothingly. " I won't hurt you…" He looked at Kane. " How could you do that?!"
" I don't see why it should be an issue," Kane said while crossing his arms. " It would be no different from killing adults." The little girl made a noise in her throat when he said that.
" Kane!"
" What? I'm only speaking the truth." Zero felt bad for the little girl. He snapped his fingers and made a princess rose appear in his hand. (A/n: When was the last time I got him to do that? *can't remember* x.x) The girl stopped crying and looked at it in awe. " For you." Zero handed hr the rose.
" Oooo, pretty…" Zero smiled, feeling her fear ebb away. He picked the girl up in his arms. " What were you doing asleep there?" Zero asked.
" I have nothing else to do mister," she said. Zero blinked. " What do you mean?" he asked.
" I dun have a mommy, or daddy, or friends here." Zero glanced at Kane, but realized he wouldn't be of any help. " You live here by yourself?" She nodded sadly. " How long?" She scratched her head as her emerald green eyes blinked rapidly in thought.
" Ummmmmmm, I don't know." Zero figured it must have been really long if she couldn't remember.
" Enough of this," Kane said. He took a step towards them. The girl leaned into Zero in fear of Kane while Zero held her protectively. " Kane," Zero said warningly.
" I won't hurt her," Kane sighed in annoyance. " Where is the Litho creature?" She blinked.
" Litto creature…?" she tried to repeat. " I dunno what that is…" Kane glared at her.
" You're lying…And bad things happen to little girls that lie…" He took a few more steps towards her.
" Kane, that's enough!" Zero snapped. " She doesn't know anything! I can sense it. Now leave her alone." She looked up at Zero.
" Thank you mister…" He smiled down at her. " You can call me Zero, little one." She smiled.
" If she doesn't know, then how the hell are we supposed to find it?"
" I don't know!" Kane growled, " Well, she must know something since she is the only one here, methinks."
" Uhhh…."
" Yeah?" Zero looked down at the girl questionably. " Huh?"
" How'd you know my name?" she asked. Zero blinked as a little red question mark bobbed above his head. " Your…name?"
" You said `Uhhh'!" Zero thought that somewhat seemed familiar…
It then hit him. " YOU'RE Uhhh?!" He held her up high to get a good look at her. " The rabbit wants you?"
Kane stared at Zero as though he's lost his mind. " …A rabbit?" Uhhh looked back from the two.
" Um, what?" Zero put the girl down, looking a bit mortified.
" …What am I going to do now?"
***
Zero drank his tea thankfully as he and Kane were at Shute's. He had brought along Uhhh as well, since he thought that a little girl shouldn't be all alone in the middle of the woods, and he needed to inform the rabbit that he found her.
Zero just got done telling everyone about his dream the other night (But left out a lot of the freaky parts like being chased by pencil ducks, and Baku saying that he was pregnant.)
" So, a bunny-rabbit told you to give her the thing called an Uhhh…" Captain analyzed. He looked at the girl, who was playing with Nana as Shute held his baby sister. " Are you sure that she is the right Uhhh?"
" Captain, how many things are named Uhhh in this world?" Zero asked.
" Not many things…"
" Exactly. So she must be what the rabbit wants!" Kane was already finished with his tea.
" I think this whole things is just coincidence," he said. " Well, I don't," Zero snapped.
" Vampires usually don't have dreams that have messages in them like this."
" You said USUALLY." Kane sighed.
" Hey." Zero looked at where Baku was sitting a few minutes ago. " Where did Bakunetsumaru go?" Kane and Captain pointed behind him. Zero turned around to see Baku spinning Uhhh in the air as she laughed happily.
" Isn't that cute?" Kane said sarcastically. Zero thought it actually was cute. They seemed to have gotten along quite well in such a short amount of time.
***
" WHAT?!" Zero exclaimed when he was back at the base.
" You heard me," Baku said. " She's staying here."
" Why can't she stay at Shute's??" Zero questioned. " Because she's a GIRL."
" Oh….well, why not Sayla's?"
" Zero…" Baku sat down on the bed. " I want her to stay here." Zero frowned.
" You realize how much patience it takes to deal with a girl at that age…"
" Less patience than with a teenager."
" How would you know?" Baku coughed. " My sister…" Zero sweatdroped.
" Oh….you do have a point…." Uhhh then bounded into the room, and jumped in Baku's lap.
" Bakuuuu!" She squealed happily while hugging the Gundam. Baku hugged back, then looked at Zero. Zero sighed in defeat.
" Fine, she may stay if it is alright with Haro…"
" Good!" Baku said happily. " It's already alright with him, and she'll be sleeping in my room for a while until they get the spare ready." He cuddled the girl. " And instead of Uhhh, we're going to call her Anna, since that's her middle name, and has less complications!"
Zero grumbled. " So, how long until her room is ready?"
" Not for a week."
" A WEEK?" Zero repeated as his eyes bugged out. " But…but…" Baku picked Anna up.
" Well, you'll just have to control your hormones, Zero," Baku said simply while passing him.
" Baku, whatza hormoon?" Anna asked cutely.
" Something you won't learn until you're in Junior High, hopefully." They then went out of Zero's room.
" A week…Damnit!" Zero sat on his bed while crossing his arms. " This is going to be a looooooong week!"
